The Hell as a permanent abode

Chapter SAJDAH” - (THE PROSTRATION) - 32

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

20b.  Whenever they desire to issue forth from thence, they are brought back thither; and unto them it is said: Taste the torment of the Fire which ye used to deny.

21.  And verily We make them taste the lower punishment before the greater, that haply they may return.

22.  And who doth greater wrong than he who is reminded of the Revelations of his Lord, then turneth from them. Lo! We shall requite the guilty.
20b.  Kullamaaa  ‘araaduuu  ‘any-yakhrujuu  minhaaa  ‘u-‘iiduu  fiihaa  wa  qiilaa  lahum  zuuquu  ‘Azaaban-Naaril-lazii  kuntum-  bihii  tukazzibuun.

21.  Wa  lanuziiqannahum-minal-‘Azaabil-‘adnaa  duunal-‘Azaabil-‘akbari  la-‘allahum  yarji-‘uun.

22.  Wa  man  ‘azlamu  mimman  zukkira  bi-‘Aayaati  Rabbihii  summa  ‘a’-raza  ‘anhaa.  ‘Innaa  minal-mujrimiina  muntaqimuun.
(Section 2)

Commentary

It is commanded: The boiling of the Hell will throw them towards the door during various times. Likely they will think at that time that they will flee from the Hell through the door, but the guards of the Hell will push them back in the Hell and say: How can you get out of the Hell? Taste the punishment of the Fire which you used to deny and falsify in the world.

Then it is commanded: Torment of the Day of Resurrection is greater, however before that punishment; comparatively We shall let them taste lower torment many times in the world, that perhaps they give up going astray and return towards the Right Path. The aim from it is – disasters and misfortunes of the world, slaughter, famine, destruction of wealth and children etc. Reason of sending down these afflictions is that the people should choose doing righteous works; leaving wicked deeds. The greatest violent are those people who hear the Commandments of Allaah Almighty but turn their faces from them. Remember it that surely We will punish the violent and the criminals.

The Gardens of Refuge

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

18.  Is he who is a believer like unto him who is an evil-liver? They are not alike.

19.  But as for those who believe and do good works, for them are the Gardens of Retreat – a welcome (in reward) for what they used to do.

20a.  And as for those who do evil, their retreat is the Fire.
18.  ‘Afaman  kaana  mu’-minan  Kaman  kaana  faasiqaa.  Laa yasta-wuun.

19.  ‘Ammal-laziina  ‘aamanuu  wa  ‘amilus-saalihaati  falahum  Jannaatul-Ma’-waa,  nuzulam-bimaa  kaanuu  ya’-maluun.

20a.  Wa  ‘ammal-laziina  fasaquu  fama’-waahumun-Naar.

Commentary

Ma’-waa – (Residence, abode), Jannaatul-Ma’-waa – (the Gardens of Refuge for always dwelling),

Fasaquu – (disobeyed, did wrong), the word faasiq has been derived from the same which means “wrongdoer, corruptor”.

We see in the world that there are many kinds of servants of rich and great people. Some of them are those who obey their master and execute his order immediately. One kind of them are those who sat becoming stubborn and did not care in the commandment, but then stood up with unwished heart and got rid of doing the work incomplete. Some are those who do never care the order of their master but do as they wish. Such all servants are not equal in the sight of their master.

Then, do you consider that obedient and disobedient people are equal in the Sight of Allaah Almighty, Who is Aware of all secrets? No, there cannot be so much darkness near Allaah Almighty. He will bestow to His Believers and the obedient, the Gardens for dwelling as remuneration of their belief and because they did good works in His obedience. For them will be Abode of Comfort, retribution of their righteous deeds. And for the disobedient people, the abode will be in the Fire of the Hell, which will reduce their pride and haughtiness to ashes.

16.  Who forsake their beds to call upon their Lord in fear and hope, and spend of what We have bestowed on them.

17.  No soul knoweth what is kept hid for them of joy, as a reward for what they used to do.
16.  Tatajaafaa  junuubuhum  ’anil-mazaaji-‘i  yad-‘uuna  Rabbahum  khawfanw-wa  tama-‘aa.  Wa  mim-maa  razaqNaahum  yunfiquun.

17.  Falaa  ta’-lamu  nafsum-maaa  ‘ukhfiya  lahum-min-  qurrati  ‘a’-yun.  Jazaaa-‘am  bimaa  kaanuu  ya’-maluun.

Commentary

Tatajaafaa – they forsake, abandon), origin of this word is jaf-wun. Jafaa-‘un means “to remove, to shrink from”.

Mazaaji-‘i – (beds, places of lying down and sleeping), this word is plural of mazja-‘un, which has come out from zaj-‘un. Zaj-‘un means “to lie down”.

Qurrata  ‘a’-yunin – (comfort of eyes), it aims “pleasure of the heart and comfort for the body’.

Identity of the Believers was described in the previous verse that when Revelations of Allaah Almighty are recited before them, they bow down for prostration immediately and hymn the Praise of their Lord by their tongues. They are never haughty.

Some more signs concerning them have been described in this verse that they arise from their beds and offer prayer, fear from the torment of Allaah Almighty, aspire His Mercy and supplicate, and spend from that which Allaah Almighty has provided them; for His pleasure.

After that, it is commanded: As reward of their good deeds, Allaah Almighty has kept hidden many great blessings for pleasure of their hearts and comfort for their bodies, about which no one knows, that is to say, they will be rich with both kinds of favors – apparent and unapparent. Fear of Allaah Almighty and hope of rewards from Him, is a sign of Belief. One should neither fear any other and nor be covetous of reward from someone else.

14.  So taste (the evil of your deeds); forasmuch as ye forgot the meeting of this your Day. Lo! We forget you; and taste the doom of immortality because of what ye used to do.

(‘As-Sajdah – Bow down)

Commentary

It was commanded earlier: The people, who denied Allaah Almighty, did neither have trust in His Commandments and nor got ready in His obedience, they will see everything with their eyes on the Day of Resurrection and pray: Send us back now again in the world, because now we are sure in Your Commandments. We shall show You that we are Your most obedient.

Then it will be commanded: You had to believe during your worldly life for success, but nothing can be now.

After that, it is commanded: Say to them: You kept the Day of Judgment forgotten in the world. Now when your misfortune has fallen upon you suddenly, then your eyes have been opened. Today you will get nothing but punishment of your deeds. You forgot Us in the world, so Today We shall forget you. Your such works, in which you were involved in the world, will surround you by becoming a torment of life. You know that those, who believed in Us, were also living along with you in the world.

Listen! Only such people admit Our Revelations, who bow down for prostration as soon as they hear the verses of Holy Qur’an, exalt Allaah Almighty with His praise and believe that their Lord is the Greatest, the Highest and the Most Excellent. They consider themselves helpless and miserable before Him. They live as His obedient servants and are not arrogant.

This is verse of Prostration, so at the time of its recitation; we should bow down before Allaah Almighty.

12.  Couldst thou but see when the guilty hang their heads before their Lord, (and say): Our Lord! We have now seen and heard, so send us back; we will do right, now we are sure.

13.  And if We had so willed, We could have given every soul its guidance, but the Word from Me concerning evildoers took effect; that I will fill Hell with the Jinn and mankind together.

Commentary

It was caused to hear the final decision in the previous verse that the Angel (peace be upon him) of Death has been appointed for you. He will pull out your soul from your body when the time will come. A body will be provided to this soul again on the Day of Resurrection, and the mankind will be presented before his Lord after re-creation. At that time, it will become obvious upon him that whatever the Prophets (peace be upon them) of Allaah Almighty described during worldly life, that was correct.

It is commanded: the people, who disbelieve in Allaah Almighty, will be standing before their Lord and requesting: Our Lord! Our eyes and ears have been opened, and now we have believed that whatever Your Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) had recited from Your Scripture before us, was correct. Our Lord! Send us back again in the world. Now we shall show doing good works. But their such request will be useless, because at that time this world would have been finished where Satan misled them and they chose wrong deeds.

After that, it is commanded: If We had willed, We could have given every soul its guidance by force, but the creation of this world has been established on this rule that every sensible person should be given chance and power. The Hell will be filled with those who will choose wrong path, whether those are Jinn or human beings.
