Commentary

Maakisiina – (abode), this word is plural of maakis, which is a subject from the word muksun. Muksun means “to abide/stay at any place for a few or many days”.

It is commanded that the fair reward (which was mentioned in Verse-2 of previous lesson) is luxurious and peaceful life in which their entire desires will be accomplished and those will never go to end.

After that, particularly about a group of people who are disobedient, it has been described that Holy Qur’an warns them specially who say that Allah has chosen a son (Let us flee to God), as the Christians who have faith that Jesus (peace be upon him) is son of God and the Jews say that Ezra (peace be upon him) is son of God, or the Idolaters of Makkah who used to say “Angels (peace be upon them) are daughters of God”.

Holy Qur’an warns particularly such people that at first in the worldly life too, they will be punished, however if they are saved here due to any reason, then on the Day of Resurrection, a stern punishment of their false faith will be given to them.

Then it is commanded: whatsoever these people say, say without thinking. They do not understand that the words which come out from their mouths; are very dreadful. But they consider about that which they say ignorantly and carelessly that it is an ordinary matter. The actual matter is that they did not meditate in it that what will be its result? Not only they; but even their fore-fathers and ancestors also (to whom they follow blindly) were unaware of its consequence.

Now they should listen to it carefully that whatsoever they have been saying; is entirely a lie and false imputation which is against the reality. Allah Almighty does not have any son or daughter. His Worthiness is the most high from that which these people say. He is neither needy of children and nor necessitous of any supporter.

Commentary

Who informed the mankind? Who has been holding up his life? By Whose support he has been drawing in the breath which is constant? Holy Qur’an guides: O ignorant! Your Creator and Sustainer is Allah Almighty. So you should admit it that how much virtues exist; all are for Him only. He is Who appointed His chosen Slave Muhammad as His last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and sent down unto Him This Blessed Book; named Holy Qur’an. No crookedness or confusion has been placed in it. Every human being can get guidance from it according to personal sense and understanding. It establishes the Straight Path for the mankind and shows him clearly the Signs and Portents of that Path in the Light of God’s Commandments. It acquaints the human beings with those severe calamities and misfortunes which will surround the disobedient servants of Allah Almighty, and it brings good news for those who believe and do good works that a fair reward of their Belief and righteousness will be for them. It is biggest negligence of the human being that he does neither try to know Allah Almighty Who is his Real Beneficent and nor follows His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) by considering and admitting that He is True and Right.

Chapter Kahf (The Cave) – 18

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

According to arrangement order, this is eighteenth Chapter of Holy Qur’an. It was revealed during the middling period in the state of Islam at Makkah. Its contents are also as of other Chapters revealed in Makkah. Like them, it has been descried that Holy Qur’an is a Fountain of Guidance for the mankind and it has been proved that Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) is the last Messenger of Allah Almighty.

The Jews taught some questions to the people of Makkah because they asked from the Jews: Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) claims that He is God’s Prophet. Let us know some such matters which we should ask from Him as a trial. The Jews said: You should ask Him:

1.   What is the Spirit?

2.   Tell us about those people who were disappeared alive from the world – still they are living and unseen?

3.   Who was the man who walked from one corner of the world to the other?

The people of Makkah (Qureish) asked from the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) the same questions. He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) said: I shall give you answer tomorrow. And He began to wait for the Divine Revelation (Wahii), waited for fifteen days but Wahii did not come. The people began to whisper that He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) promised to give answer on the next day, but two weeks have been over, even then He is still silent. He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) grew weak with pain. At last the Angel (peace be upon him) came and it was commanded: Your should never say for doing any work that I shall do it tomorrow. But you should say always: If God; the Most High wills, I shall do it tomorrow. Because without God’s will you can do nothing. Forgetting Allah Almighty and putting trust in oneself is the matter of ignorant and careless people.

After that, answers of all three questions were given. Answer of the question about the Spirit has passed in the previous Chapter (Surah Baniii ‘Israaa-‘iil. Replies of remaining two questions have been mentioned in this Chapter. Summary of all these three answers is that Allah Almighty has all Powers. He works entirely as He Himself desires. You should never consider that His Power is as of the mankind. In the verses of this Chapter, reality of the world has been explained before the human beings and it has been narrated that comparatively the world is nothing against the Hereafter. Mankind should never forget the Day of Resurrection by being ensnared in the worldly contentions. The biggest misfortune is ascribing plurality unto God Almighty.

By thinking a little, the human being can understand easily that it is the last stage of ignorance if any person have faith that any one else is equal, helper or partner of Allah Almighty from His creatures in any matter.

Secondly it has been caused to understand that when any person will do any work with intention, his accounts will be reckoned in the life after death. And according to own deeds every individual will be rewarded or punished.

Quran Chapter 17  111 (Pt-15, Stg-4) (L-1856) درس قرآن

This Chapter is explanation of 3rd Kalimah

Surah Baniii ‘Israaa-‘iil (The Children of Israel) – 17

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

Lessons from Chapter Seventeen “The Children of Israel” came to an end at previous lesson. First matter which has been taught in this Chapter; is, “Knowing correctly our Lord”. Many people admit that Allah Almighty exists but they do not know Him correctly. First verse of this Chapter begins with the words “SUBHAANALLAZIII  ‘as-raa  bi-‘AbdiHii” (GLORIFIED BE HE Who carried His servant). The name “Allah” has not been mentioned clearly in this verse, but His one such Epithet has been described in it which cannot be of any other save Him. Therefore, it can be understood easily that here; the aim from ‘Allaziii is only “Allah Almighty” not any other.

The last verse of the same Chapter begins with the words “Wa  qulil-Hamdu  Lillaahil-lazii” (And say: Praise be to Allah, Who), and it ends on the words; meanings of which are “’Allaahu ‘Akbar” (Allah is the Greatest), whereas the topic of discussion in between the verse is “Laa ‘ilaaha ‘illAllaahu (There is no God but Allah).

Above mentioned four Kalimahs (Words) are sufficient for knowing Allah Almighty. The aim from these words is “SubhaanAllaah (God Almighty is Pure from all kinds of defect, fault or weakness. Neither any wickedness can be into Him nor any deficiency, and nor any kind of helplessness or inability). ‘Al-Hamdu-Lillaah (All Praises are of Allah and the entire praises are into Him only; not in any other save Him. And if anywhere any praise is visible, that is also a reflection of His Excellence. Any other save Allah Almighty does not possess the Actual Excellence. Therefore, comparatively His Praises are most eminent and most dignified). ’Allaahu ‘Akbar” (As He is Pure from all kinds of evils, no other has Praises like Him, He is Whole of all Praises also, then without any doubt He is the Greatest too). Laa ‘ilaaha ‘illAllaahu”, (While He is the Greatest; and certainly He is the Greatest, then there can be no other Worshipped (God) save Him (Allah)”.

It is also understood from the same Chapter that every thing is helpless before Allah Almighty and has been explaining about own helplessness in own language. The power which exists anywhere, is of Him only, if that exists at any other place, that is given by Him. And it is the entire subject of “wa  Laa  hawla  wa  laa quwwata  ‘illaa  Billaahil-‘Aliyil-‘Aziim (There is neither might nor power except with Allah).

Therefore, for acquiring knowledge about God Almighty, summary of this Chapter is hidden in these words

سبحان الله والحمد لله ولا إله إلا الله والله اكبر ولا حول ولا قوة الا بالله العلي العظيم

(SubhaanAllaah wal-hamduLillaah wa-laa ‘ilaaha ‘illAllaahu Wallaahu Akbar wa  Laa  hawla  wa  laa quwwata  ‘illaa  Billaahil-‘Aliyil-‘Aziim), "Allah is free from imperfection, All praise is due to Allah, there is no God but Allah), Allah is the Greatest, There is neither might nor power except with Allah ".

That is to say, this Chapter is explanation of above mentioned Kalimah. Along with it, Messenger-hood and the life after death has been explained that after reproduction the life will be perpetual, and that can be pleasant in this form only that worldly life should be passed in accord with the Commands of Holy Qur’an.

Commentary

It is commanded: Allah Almighty is Whole of the entire excellences and virtues. You should imagine His virtues for His worship and say: All Praises and gratitude-able attributes are only of Allah Almighty. He is not necessitous of any other and nor He needs descendants who may help Him in His works and nor courtiers or ministers are required by Him to help in running the management of His Sovereignty, and nor there is any weakness or defect in Him; because of which He may need any supporter or protecting friend. All the creatures have been bowing before Him. No one can claim that he is companion or equal of God Almighty. While no one can be equal of Him then how can anyone surpass Him? Therefore, He is The Greatest.

You should have the same Belief in your heart, and disclose the same also by your thoughts, your tongue and your deeds in all respect that Allah Almighty is the Greatest. No such word should come out from your mouth by which there is a doubt of His insult whether that is very little (Let us flee to God). Your heart should be sure that there is no such work which cannot be done by Allah Almighty due to which one would have to approach any other save Him. Your knowledge will be perfect at that time when you will believe that Allah Almighty is The Greatest, The Beneficent and The Omnipotent. We should recite following words maximum time
سبحان الله والحمد لله ولا اله الا الله والله اكبر

(SubhaanAllaah walhamduLillaah wa-laa ‘ilaaha ‘illAllaahu Wallaahu Akbar), Subhaan Allaah (سبحان الله) means "Allah is free from imperfection". Al-hamdu Lillaah (الحمد لله) means "All praise is due to Allah". wa-laa ‘ilaaha ‘illAllaahu (There is no God but Allah), Allaahu Akbar (الله أكبر ) means "Allah is Greatest".

Prophet Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) has said that these are some of the dearest phrases of Allah Swt and has lot of benefits in reciting these.

God’s are the most beautiful names - Quran Chapter 17 – 110 (Pt-15, Stg-4) (L-1854) درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 17  110 (Pt-15, Stg-4) (L-1854) درس قرآن

God’s are the most beautiful names

Surah Baniii ‘Israaa-‘iil (The Children of Israel) – 17

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

110.  Say (unto mankind): Call upon Him saying Allah, or saying the Beneficent, unto whichsoever name ye call upon Him (it is the same). His are the most beautiful names. And thou (Muhammad), be not loud-voiced in thy worship nor yet silent therein, but follow a way between.
110.  Qulid-‘Ullaaha  ‘awid-‘ur-Rahmaan.  ‘Ayyam-maa  tad-‘uu  fala-hul-‘Asmaaa-‘ul-Husnaa.  Wa  laa taj-har  bi-Salaatika  wa  laa  tukhaafit  bihaa  wabtagi  bayna  zaalika  Sabiilaa.

Commentary

laa  tukhaafit – (be not more silent), it is a negative sentence from the word mukhaafatatun, origin of which is kha-fa-ta. Khafuut means “moderation of the voice even so much that the speaker himself may not hear own voice”. Mukhaa-fatatun means putting the voice down as much that others may not hear”.

All epithets of Allah Almighty are very strange, and with regard to every attribute; it contains a separate name. Every one of these attributes is perfect and pure from any kind of defect or fault. According to the same, His names are best and most beautiful. These names have been explained before you. Now if you call upon Him with the name of “Allah” or “The Beneficent”, it is the same.

After that, it is being commanded to the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) that the correct knowledge about God Almighty can be acquired from Holy Qur’an only. Then He Himself teaches the Way of His adoration.

Therefore, it is commanded: When you recite the verses of Holy Qur’an during offering prayer, at that time your voice should neither be so much loud that the impudent people become disrespectful after hearing Qur’an, and nor it should be as much low that your companions may not hear. In the beginning, ignorant people of Arab used to mock the prayer, and whenever; God’s Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) used to recite Qur’an, they used to mimic by bringing out different types of voices from their mouths. So it was commanded: Be not loud-voiced in your worship that the wicked people begin to mimic and nor your voice should be so much lower that those people who are close to you; may not hear. But you should follow a way between the both.

Those who know they fall prostrate

Surah Baniii ‘Israaa-‘iil (The Children of Israel) – 17

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

107.  Say: Believe therein or believe not. Lo! Those who were given knowledge before it, when it is read unto them, fall down prostrate on their faces, adoring-

108.  Saying: Glory to our Lord! Verily the promise of our Lord must be fulfilled.

109.  They fall down on their faces, weeping, and it increaseth humility in them.
107.  Qul  ‘aaminuu  bihiii  ‘aw  laa  tu’-minuu.  ‘Innallaziina  ‘uutul-  ‘ilma  min-  qablihiii  ‘izaa  yutlaa  ‘alayhim  yakhir-ruuna  lil-‘azqaani  sujjadaa.

108.  Wa  yaquuluuna  Subhaana  Rabbinaaa  ‘in-  kaana  wa’-du  Rabbinaa  la-maf-‘uulaa.

109.  Wa  yakhir-ruuna  lil-‘azqaani  yabkuuna  wa  yaziidu-hum  khushuu-‘aa.  (As-Sajdah – Bow-down)

Commentary

Yakhir-ruuna – (they fall down), origin of this word is kharrun. Kharuurun means “to fall down”. This word has passed in Suratul-‘A’-raaf (Chapter 7).

‘Azqaani – (the chins), this word is plural of zaqan, which means “the chin”. Chin is lowest and apparent part of the face. It aims “face”. Therefore, meaning of lil-‘azqaani will become “on their faces”.

It is commanded: O people! This Qur’an is before you. It is your will – Believe therein or believe not! But the people to whom Knowledge was given, they have comprehended it that this Qur’an is the same Word; about which it was promised, and Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) is the same Messenger, who has been appointed and sent from the Children of Ishmael.

Therefore, their intelligent people fell down prostrate as soon as they heard the verses of Holy Qur’an from the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and said: Glory to our Lord! Verily He has fulfilled His promise and it was sure that the Promise was to be fulfilled. When they raised their heads from prostration, then influence of the magnificence of this Word appeared on their hearts with such strange eminence that they fell again down on their faces; weeping, and they disclosed their humility and obedience.

This verse is of As-Sajdah (Bowing so as to touch the ground with the forehead in adoration). According to this verse, Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) determined two prostrations in one Rak-‘at of the Prayer.

Commentary

Muksin – (successively in parts, with spaces of time between revealing), revealing by this way is called “tanziil”. Revealing a Book all at once is called “’Anzaal”. Holy Qur’an was revealed in Lawh Mahfuuz (A Table on which the destinies of the world since its creation are written) all at once, and then it was sent down in the world by Divine Inspiration in small parts in accordance with circumstances.

If the Messengers (peace be upon them) had not been sent then the mankind could learn only by his experience, and for the experience; a long time is required. The people who did not obey the Messengers (peace be upon them) and depended on their experience, they could not discover the way of mankind’s betterment till today. And the people who died before expiry of their any kind of experiments, that all became useless.

Moreover, there are many such things which cannot be known by experiments, for example, mankind understood by experience that every living being is to die. But he could never know by experience that all human beings will be reproduced after death and then they will never die.

Last Messenger of Allah Almighty, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) came in the world along with the last Scripture of God Almighty (Holy Qur’an). So, entire deficiency was fulfilled. There is nothing save the Truth in Holy Qur’an. Allah Almighty revealed it with the Truth and with the same Truth; it reached unto human beings. No change was made in it during the mid period.

It is the responsibility of the Messenger Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) that Holy Qur’an should be conveyed unto the entire mankind, show them practically “How to act upon its commandments”, give them good tidings who do good works and warn them who are habitual of wicked deeds.

In addition, for reciting and understanding easily, Holy Qur’an was divided in different little parts and every small part was sent down with spaces of time between revealing, so that the people may act upon its commandments easily and completely. In this way, the work of mankind’s guidance was completed.

Gathering of the entire human beings - Quran Chapter 17 – 104 (Pt-15, Stg-4) (L-1851) درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 17  104 (Pt-15, Stg-4) (L-1851) درس قرآن

Gathering of the entire human beings

Surah Baniii ‘Israaa-‘iil (The Children of Israel) – 17

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

104.  And We said unto the Children of Israel after him: Dwell in the land; but when the promise of the Hereafter cometh to pass We shall bring you as a crowd gathered out of various nations.
104.  Wa  qulNaa  mim-  ba’-dihii  li-Baniii  ‘Israaa-‘iilas-kunul-‘arza  fa-‘izaa  jaaa-‘a  wa’-dul-  ‘Aakhirati  ji’-Naa  bikum  lafii-faa.

Commentary

Lafii-fun – (wrapped, folded, collected promiscuously from all parts, a mixed multitude, a crowd), this word is an adjective from laffun, which means “to gather after wrapping” lafiif means “a big crowd of people and groups”.

It is commanded: After destroying Pharaoh along with his people, We said to the Children of Israel: Now you are entirely free in the land and can live as owners of your will and matters. Now Egypt is lying vacant for you and on the other side, the Country of Syria is not far from you. Even then if you did not change your conduct and character but died during doing wicked deeds and did not repent of sins, then you should remember it that the last stage “The Hereafter” is not yet over. Certainly Allah Almighty will fulfill His promise. He shall reproduce you and your enemies too after death. And those entire human beings who ever lived in the world before us or who will come after us, will be assembled in one field. Then faiths and deeds of all of them will be examined separately and they entire will find reward or punishment in accord with personal conduct. You should never consider that only this world is everything and nothing will happen after death. This misunderstanding has ruined many people before you. If the Messengers (peace be upon them) of Allah Almighty had not drawn intention of the human beings unto the Day of Resurrection, then the entire mankind would have been ruined very earlier. Moreover, even after death, they would have been entangled in deadly calamities for always.

It seems from this verse that perfect belief in the Day of Resurrection is also necessary along with having faith in Allah Almighty, His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and His last Scripture (Holy Qur’an) that the entire (ancient and coming in future) mankind will be reproduced after death. And accounts of every individual will be reckoned properly whatsoever they have done during worldly life. Without belief in the Hereafter, the mankind’s worldly life can never be correct.
