Commentary

It is commanded: Once again, oppression and persecution began to rule the world. The people began to rebel. Powerful people began to tyrannize the weak people. In Egypt, the Copts (Qibti People) looked up and began to torment the Children of Israel, who were peopled in Egypt by Joseph (peace be upon him). At that time he (peace be upon him) was an Administrator of Egypt. After that, the time turned over. Joseph (peace be upon him) departed from the world and the authority of governing the Egyptian Empire came back into the hands of Copts. Family nickname of their Kings was Pharaoh. They began to molest the Children of Israel very badly, even that they made them own slaves. When oppression upon the Children of Israel began to cross the line, then Allaah Almighty bestowed Prophet-hood to Moses and his brother Aaron (peace be upon them) and sent them unto the folk of Pharaoh as His Messengers.

It has been commanded in these verses: Moses and Aaron (peace be upon them) reached Pharaoh and his courtiers along with the Message of Allaah Almighty. They (peace be upon them) said: It is the commandment of Allaah Almighty that you should refrain from treating the Children of Israel with cruelty and should not be proud of your power, otherwise He will punish you very severely. But they did not care because they were puffed up by their power and wealth. They had become mad due to their superiority. They gave a point blank refusal and disregarded the sayings of the Prophets of Allaah Almighty (peace be upon them).

Commentary

Tatraa – (one after another), origin of this word is watr. Watr means “one”. Watraa means “one by one”. In use this word has become tatraa, which aims “one after another”.

It is commanded: When ancient evil-doers died a natural death, then after them Allaah Almighty brought forth other generations. They also violated during their terms and denied the Messengers (peace be upon them). At last they were punished due to their wicked deeds. And when the time of destruction of any generation came, that was ruined immediately; without delay of even one minute.

After that; other generations were brought forth and Allaah Almighty sent His Prophets (peace be upon them) continually for their guidance, but they did not care and disobeyed the Messengers (peace be upon them) constantly. Therefore Allaah Almighty sent them away one after one and now they have become unknown. Only some stories exist concerning them. A far removal for the folk who believe not! We should take warning from their circumstances.

39.  He said: My Lord! Help me because they deny me.

40.  He said: In a little while they surely will become repentant.

41.  So the (Awful) Cry overtook them rightfully, and We made them like as wreckage (that a torrent hurleth). A far removal for wrongdoing folk!
39.  Qaala  Rabbinsurnii  bimaa  kazzabuun.

41.  Fa-‘akhazat-humus-Say-hatu  bil-haqqi  faja-‘alNaahum  gusaaa-‘aa.  Fa-bu’-dal-lil-qawmiz-zaalimiin.

Commentary

Bil-haqqi – (rightfully), Haqq means “right thing”, happening of which as justice and equity is suitable. It is possible that evil, mischief, wickedness, riot and outbreak are seen prospered in the world apparently for some time, and its supporters are seen successful by those who see with superficial sight. But it is a famous proverb “Where are feet of a lie?” This dissension cannot run for more days. The days of the world are turned. Prayer of the pious is accepted. Mischievous and quarrelsome people are entirely removed from the world.

The same has been explained in these verses. Most probably here, the aim from the deniers of the Prophet (peace be upon him) are the people of the folk of Thamud. When they did not refrain from obstinacy, then Salih (peace be upon him), who was a Messenger of Allaah Almighty among them, turned towards Allaah Almighty and solicited: My Lord! These people consider that I am totally a liar and they do not listen to me. Help me.

Then it was commanded: They will come to know instantly that how much they had been involved in stupidity. They will get nothing save repentance.

Eventually the time of their misfortune came and such Awful Cry (thunder) was produced that their gall-bladders were cracked and they were wasted in the wave of God’s wrath like rubbish. A Sound rose from the Unseen: A far removal for wrongdoing folk.

Our Lord: Save us from Your wrath in the world and in the Hereafter (both places)!

Commentary

They said: The truth is only this that whatever our life is, that is the life of this world only. In this life; death of whom comes; they die, and who have to live; they live long. Coming back to life again after death, being produced before Allaah Almighty, reckoning of accounts of own deeds, reward and punishment, these all matters have been fabricated by this man {Messenger (peace be upon him)}. Nothing will happen out of them and nor there is any other life after the life of this world, nor there will be any inquiry concerning our deeds, nor reward and nor any punishment. These entire are self-made stories. This person has been telling totally a lie. He (peace be upon him) has fabricated some imaginary thoughts during his leisure time and says so for inspiring with awe that these all commandments are from Allaah Almighty, so that the people should fear after hearing and listen to him (peace be upon him). Think for awhile! Who has seen Allaah Almighty? If you ask from us, we shall say that we have not heard the name of Allaah Almighty from any other beside this person (peace be upon him). Then how can we believe, only for the purpose that he desires to convince us about his imaginary sayings by commending the name of Allaah Almighty?

No dears! It is not in our power. We deny from such Belief, by which; willing or not willing our pleasures of this life are interrupted, and by leaving our wishes we would have to abide by his sayings.

34.  And if ye were to obey a mortal like yourselves, then, lo! ye surely would be losers –

35.  Doth he promise you that you, when ye are dead and have become dust and bones, will (again) be brought forth?

36.  Begone, begone, with that which ye are promised!

36.  Hay-haata  hay-haata  limaa  tuu-‘aduun.

Commentary

Ya-‘idu and tuu-‘aduuna – both words have come out from the origin “wa’-dun”. Wa’-dun means “to give information about happening of any future matter and say that “it will certainly be”, a promise, an appointment.

Hay-haata – (begone, it is impossible, how can it be?), it is the word by which; happening of any matter is exposed as far away from the truth and sense. That is to say, concerning this promise, it can be said that its fulfilling is at a great distance from the certainty.

The people who do not believe in the Messengers of Allaah Almighty (peace be upon them), are over taken by self-conceit. They are crazed that, “while we understand everything then why should we consider someone else superior to us”. After the folk of Noah (peace be upon him), two more folks “Aad and Thamud” came one after one. It has been indicated concerning them in these verses. Their chieftains have been saying: If you obeyed a man who is like you then you drowned the fleet. The Messenger should be such person who may say any useful thing. This Person (peace be upon him) gives such information which is groundless. Are you hearing that what he has been saying that after death when your body will become dust and only some bones will be seen remaining, then you will be reproduced again? Is this matter reasonable? While it cannot be so as he says then why should we give up our desires?

Commentary

It was narrated earlier that after the destruction of the folk of Noah (peace be upon him), We produced another generation in the world, and that nation also chose the same wrong path; which; the wicked desires of the mankind make him to understand. Then We appointed a man from them as Our Messenger (peace be upon him) in accordance with Our prescribed Rule for causing them to understand, who explained before them that they should not follow their desires, adopt the way of the obedience of Allaah Almighty because save Him, there is no God (Worshiped).

It has been commanded in this verse: When chieftains of that nation heard this, they were enraged. They used to think that there was none more powerful than them. They disbelieved in Allaah Almighty and used to consider that everything is only the pleasure and the comfort of the world. They used to deny the life after death and the Day of Resurrection. We had made them prosperous in the worldly things.

When they heard the warning from Our Messenger (peace be upon him), they said to their own people: This person who says himself a Messenger of Allaah Almighty, is a man like all of you. While he (peace be upon him) eats the same things which you eat and drinks the same water which you drink, then what is the different between him and you, and why should we accept him as our guide and chieftain? And why should we follow him leaving our own ways of adoration and dwelling? This thought of mankind that “why should I accept that someone else is greater than me while I myself am the greatest?” bereaves him from natural beauties.
