Quran Chapter 21  19b to 21 (Pt-17, Stg-4) (L-2041) درس قرآن

Glorifying day and night

Chapter “The Prophets” – (Suratul‘Ambiyaaa’ - 21)

 ‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

19b.  And those who dwell in His Presence are not too proud to worship Him, nor do they weary.

20.  They glorify (Him) night and day; they flag not.

21.  Or have they chosen gods from the earth who raise the dead?
19b.  Wa  man  ‘inda-Huu  laa  yastak-biruuna  ‘an  ‘ibaadatiHii  wa  laa  yastah-siruun.

20.  Yusabbihuunal-layla  wan-nahaara  laa  yafturuun.

21.  ‘Amittakhazuuu  ‘aaliha-tam-minal-‘arzi  hum  yunshi-ruun.

    Commentary

Laa  yastah-siruuna – (they do not weary), it is in negative tense from the word ‘istihsaarun, origin of which is ha-sa-ra. Hasar means “to be wearied, to become lazy”. The aim from the word “‘istihsaarun” is the same.

Yunshi-ruuna – (they raise the dead), this word is from ‘inshaarun, which has been derived from na-sha-ra. Nashar means “to spread”. ‘Inshaarun means “to bring to life again after death and being ruined”.

It was commanded previously that the entire creatures, whether those are in the heavens or in the earth, are under the control of Allaah Almighty.

About those creatures, it has been described in this verse: Those who dwell in the heavens near Allaah Almighty {Angels (peace be upon them)}, they bow their heads before Him with humility, and glorify Him day and night constantly. From the same is their life.

For the life of mankind, as drawing the breath in; is necessary, just like this, Our remembrance (of Allaah) is also necessary for their life. Neither they are wearied from it and nor ever they feel themselves tired. It is obvious that Our chosen Angels are more powerful than the creatures of the earth. While they stand praying every time before Us and do not disobey Our Commandment, then what power have the creatures of the earth that they commit rebellion before Us? Do you then choose your gods from this feeble creature? Can these (gods) correct your condition? Can these raise you again if We wish to deprive you of life?

Quran Chapter 21  18 & 19a (Pt-17, Stg-4) (L-2040) درس قرآن

The Lord hurls the true against the false

Chapter “The Prophets” – (Suratul‘Ambiyaaa’ - 21)

 ‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

18.  Nay, but We hurl the true against the false, and it doth break its head and lo! It vanisheth. And yours will be woe for that which ye ascribe (unto Him).

19a.  Unto Him belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and the earth.
18.  Bal  Naqzifu  bil-Haqqi  ‘alal-baatili  fa-yadmaguhuu  fa-‘izaa  huwa  zaahiq.  Wa  lakumul-waylu  mimmaa  tasifuun.

19a.  Wa  laHuu  man-  fis-samaa-waati  wal-‘arz.

    Commentary

Yadmagu – (it breaks the head and discharges the brain), this word has come out from damgun, which means “to break the head”.

Zaahiqun – (that which vanishes), it is the Subject from the word za-ha-qa. Zuhuuq means “to vanish, to be destroyed utterly”.

Earlier; it was commanded: Neither this world is any play and nor We are needy of play. If We had wished to find a pastime, We would have found it in Our Presence – if We ever did.

In this verse, it is commanded: The human beings also should not spend their life of this world in playing and sports only. Here, Right and Wrong, True and False; both exist together. These both fight against each other mutually. When only mischief remains in the world, then We cast the club of Justice on its head for its annihilation and its brain is discharged from its head. At that time the False is ruined. The mankind should not support the mischief, otherwise when the True will assault then he will also be ground along with the mischief.

Behold! That is useless which you say false that “righteousness and evil are nothing. There will be no reward and punishment of deeds. Allaah, the Messenger (peace be upon him), the Scripture, the Day of Resurrection, reckoning of accounts, the Heaven and the Hell (Let us flee to Allaah) are self-fabricated things. Every thing which exists, is the world only. Use your power and enjoy completely!”

It is commanded: Your sayings of this kind will not leave you but ruin. Remember it that every creature of the heavens and the earth is under the control of Allaah Almighty. Wrongdoers will not find refuge anywhere.

He does not wish to find a pastime

Chapter “The Prophets” – (Suratul‘Ambiyaaa’ - 21)

 ‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

  وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ وَٱلْأَرْضَوَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لَٰعِبِينَ 16

 لَوْ أَرَدْنَآ أَن نَّتَّخِذَ لَهْوًا لَّٱتَّخَذْنَٰهُ مِن لَّدُنَّآ إِن كُنَّا فَٰعِلِينَ 17

16.  We created not the heaven and the earth and all that is between them in play.

17.  If We had wished to find a pastime, We would have found it in Our Presence – if We ever did.
16.  Wa  maa  khalaqNas-samaaa-‘a  wal-‘arza  wa  maa  baynahumaa  laa-‘ibiin.

17.  Law  ‘aradNaaa  ‘annat-takhiza  lahwal-lattakhaz-Naahu  mil-ladunNaaa  ‘in-  kunNaa  faa-‘iliin.

    Commentary

‘In – (if, nay), this word has the both meanings, and here; it can be taken as any meaning. The aim will be the same.

Circumstances of the disobedient, wrongdoers and sinful people were explained in the previous verses. Those people could not live in the world for a long time. They were involved in various calamities due to their stubbornness and at last they were ruined. And their places, where they used to be engaged in pleasantness of life carelessly, had become as reaped corn and extinct coal.

After that in these verses, the way of success has been described to the mankind that they should meditate in the creation of the world and its arrangement. It is commanded: We have not made it as a play. Very great suitableness is hidden in it. While sense and understanding has been bestowed to the human beings; then it was necessary that a vast work-place should also be prepared for the use of their wisdom, appearance of which should be very fascinating, but internally there should be a chain of magnificent machines; engaged in its control continuously under proper law and order. There is a test of mankind’s sense in it that he should not fall in love of its apparent charm, but he should know That Power Which drives its internal machines, Lord of Which is Allaah Almighty. This work-place is not a play.

It is commanded: If We were necessitous of a play and rejoicing, We would have made any toy from the things in Our Presence. What was the purpose of creating this entire universe? But in fact, We are not needy of games, play or rejoicing. Neither We feel any weariness and nor laziness that We should get some relaxation.

Quran Chapter 21  13 to 15 (Pt-17, Stg-4) (L-2038) درس قرآن

Questioning about wrong deeds

Chapter “The Prophets” – (Suratul‘Ambiyaaa’ - 21)

 ‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

13.  (But it was said unto them): Flee not, and return to that (existence) which emasculated you and to your dwellings, that ye may be questioned.

14.  They said: Alas for us! we were wrongdoers.

15.  And this their crying ceased not till We made them as reaped corn, extinct.
13.  Laa  tarkuzuu  warji-‘uuu  ‘ilaa  maaa  ‘utriftum  fiihi  wa  masaakinkum  la-‘allakum  tus-‘aluun.

14.  Qaaluu  yaa-waylanaaa  ‘innaa  kunnaa  zaalimiin.

15.  Famaa  zaalat-tilka  da’-waahum  hattaa  ja-‘alNaahum  hasiidan  khaamidiin.

    Commentary

‘Utriftum – (you were given facilities), this word has been derived from tar-fun, which means “favor and delight”.

Hasiidan – (reaped), it is an adjective from the word ha-sa-da, which has passed in Suratul-‘An-‘aam. It means “to reap corn”.

Khaamidiin – (extinct, extinguished, dead, put out), this word is plural of khaamidun, which is the Subject from the word kha-ma-da. Khamuud means “to be reduced to ashes”. It aims “they became dead and lifeless”.

It is commanded: O unjust people! Why are you fleeing now? Return to such abodes where you had been enjoying pleasantly. Today, your wicked deeds have come before you and you are going to flee. Go back and see! Perhaps your disciples will seek your help and ask for advice that “during past you used to advise us. Tell us! What should we do today?”

Those people said senselessly: Alas for us, we have been entangled in misfortune today! Really we were great wrongdoers that we did not obey the Prophets (peace be upon them).

In short, they continued crying out and admitted their sins, but the torment had come upon them. Screaming and crying out at that time was useless. At last, We made them as reaped corn. They fell down as no longer in existence and were ruined.

Quran Chapter 21  11 & 12 (Pt-17, Stg-4) (L-2037) درس قرآن

Replacement of the wicked dwellers

Chapter “The Prophets” – (Suratul‘Ambiyaaa’ - 21)

 ‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

  وَكَمْ قَصَمْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ كَانَتْظَالِمَةً وَأَنشَأْنَا بَعْدَهَا قَوْمًا ءَاخَرِينَ 11

  فَلَمَّآ أَحَسُّوا۟ بَأْسَنَآ إِذَا هُم مِّنْهَا يَرْكُضُونَ 12

11.  And how many a community that dealt unjustly have We shattered, and raised up after them another folk!

12.  So when they felt Our torment, behold them fleeing from it!
11.  Wa  kam  qasamNaa  min  qaryatin  kaanat  zaalimatanw-wa  ‘ansha’-Naa  ba’-dahaa  qawman  ‘aakhariin.

12.  Falammaaa  ‘ahassuu  ba’-saNaaa  ‘izaa  hum-min-haa  yarkuzuun.

    Commentary

QasamNaa – (We have shattered), it is past tense from the word qa-sa-ma, which means “to break at once into pieces, to be broken into fragments, to split, to disorder”.

zaalimatun – (those who dealt unjustly, wicked people, malefactors), it is the Subject from the word za-la-ma, which has been used earlier at many places. It means “injustice” whether that is with oneself or with other people.

Yarkuzuuna – (they began to flee), this word has come out from “rakzun”, which means “to strike a horse with heel, so that it should begin to run”. It aims “to run away”.

It was described in the previous verses summarily that Allaah Almighty sent Messengers (peace be upon them) also for causing to understand the ancient people, who were Men like them, but He preferred them to convey His Message unto the people, and promised to help them timely. Therefore, when the disobedient people were being destroyed, He saved His Messengers (peace be upon them), and the transgressors were ruined.

After that, in this verse, the same matter is being explained in these words “Many people who were living in the world before you {O Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him)}, We destroyed them due to their unfair dealings and violence. And We raised up other folks to put them in their places. They used to live not like human beings and adore others instead of Allaah Almighty. Our Messengers (peace be upon them) came unto them and caused to understand them, but they disobeyed. At last they were involved in difficulties. And when they were certain from the signs that the anguish of Allaah Almighty is near to reach, then they tried to flee from their dwellings”.

Deliverance of Prophets and their followers

Chapter “The Prophets” – (Suratul‘Ambiyaaa’ - 21)

 ‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

 ثُمَّ صَدَقْنَٰهُمُ ٱلْوَعْدَ فَأَنجَيْنَٰهُمْ وَمَن نَّشَآءُ وَأَهْلَكْنَا ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ 9

  لَقَدْ أَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكُمْ كِتَٰبًا فِيهِ ذِكْرُكُمْ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ 10

9.  Then We fulfilled the promise unto them. So We delivered them and those whom We willed and We destroyed the prodigals.

10.  Now We have revealed unto you a Scripture wherein is your Reminder. Have ye then no sense?
9.  Summa  sadaqNaa-humul-wa’-da  fa-‘anjayNaahum  wa  man-nashaaa-‘u  wa  ‘ahlakNal-musrifiin.

10.  Laqad  ‘anzalNaaa  ‘ilaykum  Kitaaban-  fiihi  Zikrukum.  ‘Afalaa  ta’-qiluun.  (Section 1)

    Commentary

Zikru – (fame, good name, celebrity), some meanings of the word Zikr were described in the previous lesson. However, here it aims “celebrity, fame and advice”.

It was commanded previously that unto the mankind, only a mankind can come as a Messenger. And it is necessary that He should be from the children of Adam (peace be upon them). He should eat and drink like other human beings for keeping his body fit, walk and move also like them. And then in the process of time; due to becoming his physical strength weak; he should depart from this mortal world. Therefore, the Prophets (peace be upon them) who came in the world, all of them were mankind.

The only difference which was between the common human beings and the Prophets (peace be upon them); was as it has been commanded in the above mentioned verse that “Allaah Almighty made them His Messengers (peace be upon them) and appointed them for guidance and correction of the people. And they fulfilled their duties. When the people were destroyed due to their disobedience and rebellion, at that time; the Prophets (peace be upon them) and along with them their followers were saved from destruction.

Then it is commanded: Like them, We have sent Muhammad as Our last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and appointed him for guidance and correction of the human beings. And We gave him a magnificent Scripture (Holy Qur’an), in which all matters of advice, celebrity and honor have been mentioned for you. Use your sense and get success in the both worlds!
