Lesson # 752 From the Noble Quran

The Punishment of the wrongdoers

Surah ‘Al-‘An-‘aam (Cattle) – Chapter – 6)–Stage - 2

Verse –93b of 165, Section – 11 of 20 (Part - 7)

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

If thou couldst see, when the wrongdoers reach the pangs of death and the angels stretch their hands out (saying): Deliver up your souls. This day ye are awarded doom of degradation for that ye spoke concerning Allah other than the Truth, and used to scorn His portents.
Wa  law  taraaa  ‘iziz-zaalimuuna  fii  gamaraatil-mawti  wal-malaaa-‘ikatu  baasituuu  ‘ay-diihim. ‘Akh-rijuuu  ‘anfu-sakum. ‘Alyawma  tuj-zawna  ‘azaabal-huu-ni-  bimaa  kuntum  taquuluuna  ‘alAllaahi  gayral-Haqqi  wa  kuntum  ‘an  ‘Aayaatihii  tastakbi-ruun.

Lesson

Zaalimuuna  – (the wrongdoers, the tyrants), it is plural of Zaalim which is derived from Zulm. Zulm means wrongdoing, tyranny, irrelevant and harmful sayings or doing anything that hurts. Zaalim is he, who uses entirely malicious words in conversation and does harmful acts.

Gamaraati  – (pangs), it is plural of Gamaratun, its actual meaning is “the deep drowning water”. The person, who falls in the deep water, entangles in difficulty and agony. Therefore, it means “the pang”.

Gayral-Haqqi  –  gayr means “against” and Haqq means “the Right and the Truth”. Gayral-Haqqi means “other than the Truth”, which as a single word can be called “a lie”.

The tyranny is of many types. That person, who harms either himself or other people by his bad thinking, tongue, hand and feet, pointing out by eyes or by any other conduct, is a tyrant. The reality of tyranny has been manifested many times in the Holy Qur’an, shown its badness and described the method to be saved from it.

It was mentioned in the previous verse that the biggest tyrant is that person, who suggests any such word or manner for Allah Almighty, which is not suitable to His Dignity. Likewise, to claim, “I am a Prophet” is also a big tyranny.

The Messenger of Allah Almighty is being addressed in this verse: {O Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him)}! If You see the condition of the wrongdoers when they reach to death, You will tremble with fear. When the time of death will come, nothing of the world will be useful for them. They will forget the world. Their outward eyes will be closed but the terrible scene of the Hereafter will be before them. The pangs and agonies of death would have surrounded them. Their wicked deeds would be standing before them like the frightful Angels, who will say them in fearful voice by stretching their long hands out in great anger and wrath: Deliver up your beloved soul in retaliation of worldly proud and honor. This day you are awarded doom of degradation for that you spoke concerning Allah other than the Truth and entirely misapprehension against His Dignity. You will be punished today for your vanity and arrogance.
