Quran Chapter 10-108a (Pt-11, Stg-3) (L-1340) - درس قرآن

Islam is the best way for mankind

Surah Younus (Jonah) (peace be upon him)

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

108a.  Say: O mankind! Now hath the Truth from your Lord come unto you. So whosoever is guided, is guided only for (the good of) his soul,
108a.  Qul  yaaa-‘ayyu-hannaasu  qad  jaaa-‘akumul-Haqqu  mir-Rabbi-kum.  Famanih-tadaa  fa-‘innamaa  yahtadii  li-nafsih.

Commentary

In the world, there are many necessities of the human being. For fulfilling them, he has been bestowed with power of thinking, understanding and working. Most works of life are done by his option. There are many ways before him for fulfilling necessities, and he likes one of those ways after checking. But because his knowledge is limited, so often he errs in choosing the correct way, reason of which is that he considers “this worldly life is everything”, and he is careless from the matter that there is one more life after this life, which is called “futurity, after life, the world to come, the Day of Resurrection”. When he strives for the good of this world, does not think, lest this effort be against the gain of the life after death, whereas he should think and do all works in such a way that he may succeed in both worlds.

It is commanded: O Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him)! Say to the people after causing to know them clearly about the Revelations of Holy Qur’aan! This, what is being explained before you, is such correct, straight and right path, which your Lord has manifested on you. The name of this way is “Religion Islam”. Your sense is sufficient to understand it that “This is the best way for the mankind”. By choosing this way, you will get success in the both worlds. Your life of this world will be arranged; as well as, you will reap its reward also after death on the Day of Resurrection.

Owner of profit and loss is none beside Allah - Quran Chapter 10-107b (Pt-11, Stg-3) (L-1339) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 10-107b (Pt-11, Stg-3) (L-1339) - درس قرآن

Owner of profit and loss is none beside Allah

Surah Younus (Jonah) (peace be upon him)

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

107b.  He bestows it on whom He will of His bondmen. And He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.
107b.  Yusiibu  bihii  many-yashaaa-‘u  min  ‘ibaadiH.  Wa  Huwal-Gafuurur-Rahiim.

Commentary

Allah Almighty commands that when you have understood that Owner of profit and loss is none beside Him, then you should know also that profit and loss depends on the Will of Allah Almighty. Sometimes His philosophy demands that any particular man should be hurt or pain should be given to him, and sometimes His philosophy is that so and so should be profited and comfort should be provided to him. His decision depends on His intention and will. None can interfere in this matter.

Mankind should be ready every time to obey every command of Allah Almighty and sacrifice his life and wealth. And he should neither worship any other beside Allah Almighty and nor consider that someone else can profit or hurt save Allah Almighty. Sinner should produce own mistakes and errors before Him which he committed at times due to weakness and ignorance; and ask Him for forgiveness, because some times his errors become cause of misfortunes. If he prays from Allah Almighty for forgiveness of the sins, many of the catastrophes are withdrawn by His Bounty.

Allah Almighty has caused to understand in this verse by saying Himself “the Forgiving, the Merciful” that all profits and losses are in His Power. But mostly, apparent reason of harm is mankind’s infirmity and forgetfulness, and cause of benefit is mankind’s submission and humility before Allah Almighty and acting upon His Instructions. Treatment of weakness and oblivion is “calling Allah Almighty for His forgiveness, worshipping Him and asking Him for help”.

If a human being acts upon the Guidance of Allah Almighty; he deserves His Mercy. Therefore, the end of these verses is on God’s “the Forgiving, the Merciful”, so that it may be indicated, by Alone Owner of profit and harm, towards those apparent reasons which become origin of profit and loss, so that the mankind should seek causes of profit and escape from the reasons of harm, and remain asker of His forgiveness every time.

If Allah desires good for you; none can repel it - Quran Chapter 10-107a (Pt-11, Stg-3) (L-1338) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 10-107a (Pt-11, Stg-3) (L-1338) - درس قرآن

If Allah desires good for you; none can repel it

Surah Younus (Jonah) (peace be upon him)

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

107a.  And if Allah afflicteth thee with some hurt, there is none who can remove it save Him; and if He desireth good for thee, there is none who can repel His Bounty.
107a.  Wa  ‘inyyam-sas-kAllaahu  bi-zurrin-  falaa  kaashifa  lahuuu  ‘illaa  Huu.  Wa  ‘inyyu-ridka  bi-khay-rin  falaa  raaadda  li-FazliH.

Commentary

It is commanded: As it is correct that there is none beside Allah Almighty who can profit and provide you comfort, and there is none beside Him who can hurt and give you pain. Likewise, it is true also that if someone suffered pain or loss by the command of Allah Almighty, then there is none who may remove it, because you have been given pain or loss by His order, and it will be removed also by His command only. And if it is His decision that such a one will be profited or comfort will be provided to so and so, then there is none who can stop it. Certainly he will be provided comfort and advantage.

While there is none who may profit save Allah Almighty; and there is none who may block the gain; which He desires to provide, then what is the benefit of asking anything from any person? When suffering, disease or loss (everything) is by His command, then thinking about any individual except Him that he will remove the distress, is a tyranny plainly.

The aim of causing to know from this verse of Holy Qur’aan and many other verses like this; is that; profit or loss is from Allah Almighty, success and failure is by His command, cure and illness is in His Hand. Therefore, if followers of Islam are desirous to save their Belief; then they should have faith in it, and through worship and prayer, they should make their Belief strong continually that without the Command of Allah Almighty, there is none who can profit, hurt or give pain to any person. If apparently, we plan to get treatment medically etc., then it is also a kind of prayer that: Our Lord! Give us success.

Marrow of worship is “Calling” - Quran Chapter 10 106b Pt 11, Stg 3 L 1337 درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 10-106b (Pt-11, Stg-3) (L-1337) - درس قرآن

Marrow of worship is “Calling”

Surah Younus (Jonah) (peace be upon him)

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

106b.  for if thou do so then surely thou will be of the wrongdoers.
106b.  Fa-‘in-  fa-‘alta  fa-‘innaka  ‘izam-minaz-zaalimiin.

Commentary

It is being narrated in these verses that none is worthy of worship save Allah Almighty. And it has been mentioned in Hadith {Saying of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him)} that marrow of worship is “calling”. Therefore, which it has been described in the first part of this verse; that “call not, beside Allah, unto that which cannot profit thee nor hurt thee”, it aims that if you called someone else, that would be as though, you worship him; whom you called. Worship of any other beside Allah Almighty is “belief in a plurality of God Almighty”.

While it is fact that causing to die and bringing to life is work of Allah Almighty, no any other person can bring anything into being and nor can cause to die save Him, and moreover, Master of profit and loss is also He. If any other individual causes to profit or hurt, that is also by His (God’s) Command. If He does not desire; then none can profit someone nor hurt. If we meditate in these words; we shall find that correct human sense cannot permit to prostrate before any other except Him, and considering that he (any other) is supplier of one’s wants has been prohibited clearly in the first portion of this verse (106a).

In this portion of the verse, it is commanded and by addressing the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), it is being caused to understand the entire human beings that “after understanding this fact, calling someone else is tyranny, and whoso commits so; will be counted in the wrongdoers. Meanings of tyranny and violence have passed at many places. Choosing any wrong way and leaving the correct path is violence, and it has innumerable forms. In every form; it would be found that by giving up decision of correct human sense, one has adopted the way of fulfilling own sensual wishes, for example; decision of correct sense is that Allah Almighty is Omnipotent and He has been describing: Call not any other beside Allah for help, in spite of this, if any person violates this decision, that would be tyranny, and it would be meant that he followed own wishes by ignoring the decision of sense.

Adopting separation from all fabricated gods - Quran Chapter 10-106a (Pt-11, Stg-3) (L-1336) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 10-106a (Pt-11, Stg-3) (L-1336) - درس قرآن

Adopting separation from all fabricated gods

Surah Younus (Jonah) (peace be upon him)

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

106a.  And call not, beside Allah, unto that which cannot profit thee nor hurt thee,
106a.  Wa  laa  tad-‘u  min-  duu-Nillaahi  maa  laa  yanfa-‘uka  wa  laa  yazur-ruk.

Commentary

It has been described in the previous verses that Islam is collection of the articles of faith and deeds, and its aim is that the Belief should be made strong by causing to accompany the above  mentioned both things. The articles of faith are a form of knowledge, therefore, in other words, summary of Islam would be that knowledge and practice (both) should be molded on the correct way, so that by means of them; the Belief may be tried to make strong.

It is known from above mentioned statement that “Soul of Islam is Belief”, and its body is “correct knowledge and practice”. Portion of knowledge is called Tawhiid (Oneness of God), and portion of practice is called Religion. For entering into Islam, verbal admission of Tawhiid, and intention of molding one’s all deeds towards the religion Islam, is sufficient. If one have faith in Tawhiid (Unity); that is called Belief. As much the Certainty will increase, so much the Belief will be strong.

It is commanded: O Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him)! You should not call any person beside Allah, because only that Individual should be called Who may have power to profit or hurt, and it is useless to call such person who does not have power of profiting and hurting. Calling Allah only; makes the Tawhiid (believing the Unity of the Deity) strong, and by it, the Belief becomes perfect.

There are two separate portions of Tawhiid (Oneness):

1.   Adopting separation from all fabricated gods of the people of the world; and asserting of loathing from their worship.

2.   When any mankind calls, he should call Allah Almighty only; and bear in mind carefully that there is none beside Allah Almighty; who may have power to profit or hurt to anyone. Then calling others and asking them for help is useless because only Allah Almighty has power of giving life and causing to die, profiting and hurting are also under His jurisdiction. Therefore it is useless to see any other, leaving Him.

The last object of Islam’s entire chain - Quran Chapter 10-105 (Pt-11, Stg-3) (L-1335) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 10-105 (Pt-11, Stg-3) (L-1335) - درس قرآن

The last object of Islam’s entire chain

Surah Younus (Jonah) (peace be upon him)

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

105.  And, (O Muhammad) set thy purpose resolutely for religion, as a man by nature upright, and be not of those who ascribe partners (to Allah).
105.  Wa  ‘an  ‘aqim  waj-haka  lid-Diini  hanii-faa.  Wa  laa  ta-kuu-nanna  minal-Mushrikiin.

Commentary

It is commanded that after leaving self-invented gods of the people of the world and inclining unto Allah Almighty, it is duty of every Muslim that they should live in accord with the prescribed religion of Allah Almighty. Therefore, O Our Messenger (grace, glory, blessing and peace be upon Him)! You should teach the Muslims now “that they should hold fast the religion of God Almighty wholeheartedly; by giving up all other ways of dwelling, and cast their deeds according to it. However it is incumbent that you should think every time that you are saved from ascribing any partner to God Almighty. Your Belief will get promotion; if you will perform with such consideration, which is actual purpose of a Muslim’s life”.

We learnt from this verse that Islam is a collection of some articles of faith and deeds, from which; object of Belief is to be strengthened. Its summary is that one should believe in Oneness of God, which has two sides:

1.   Declining from belief in others as gods save Allah Almighty.

2.   Determination that my Worshipped is Allah Almighty only.

After that, one should begin to follow immediately the prescribed instructions of the Religion. It can be learned by following the Path (Words and Deeds) of the last Messenger of Allah Almighty, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), because He has fixed for us a way of living for ever, taking from Holy Qur’aan, name of which is “the Divine Way of Religion (Shara’)” and “the Traditions of the Messenger (Sunnat)” (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him).

Prayers (prescribed by law), Fast (abstinence from food), Pilgrimage (Hajj) and Paying the poor-due (Zakaah) are permanent centres of all efforts and deeds of the Muslims. Increasing mutual cooperation and amity, learning and teaching good manners, stopping and preventing from evil deeds, disposing of affairs with justice, abstaining from oppression and violence, helping one another in good works, is very easy for us by remaining engaged in these works. By choosing this form of practice, we should bear in mind every time “escaping from all forms of open and hidden polytheism, and completing our belief in the Unity of the Deity”. It is the source of perfection in Belief, which is the last object of Islam’s entire chain, upon which; goodness of the Day of Resurrection depends.

Commandment – Be of the Believers - Quran Chapter 10-104b (Pr-11, Stg-3) (L-1334) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 10-104b (Pr-11, Stg-3) (L-1334) - درس قرآن

Commandment – Be of the Believers

Surah Younus (Jonah) (peace be upon him)

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

104b.  but I worship Allah Who causeth you to die, and I have been commanded to be of the Believers.
104b.  wa  laakin  ‘a’-budUllaahal-lazii  yata-waffaa-kum.  Wa  ‘umirtu  ‘an  ‘akuuna  minal-Mu’-miniin.

Commentary

Yata-waffaa (He causes to die). This word is from ta-waffaa, which has been derived from wafaat. Wafaat means “the extinction of life, death, demise”. Tawaffaa means “to rise to the situation, to take over, to collect in full, to finish, causing to die”. It aims “to finish the worldly life of the mankind”.

God Almighty commands to His Messenger (grace, glory, blessing and peace be upon him) that He should say to the people: I don’t worship your self-invented deities (gods). I worship only One God; Allah, The Most High Who is Omnipotent, and everyone is helpless before Him. He gives life to whom He desires, then by finishing his life He picks him up from the world. Life and death are under His control. If you think for awhile in it, it will become compulsory for you to accept it. And helplessness of remaining things will be manifest before you like a shining day. And there will be no expedient save it that you should not believe in any other except Him. He (God) is your Rightful Worshipped. In the next verse, method of acquiring strong belief has been described.

By meditating in the verses of this Section, reality of Islam becomes obvious entirely. First step of entering in Islam is declaration of disgust from the gods; made by human hands. Those all deities are only imaginary pictures of mankind’s selfishness. He (human being) considers: I am all in all, therefore, my deity will be that whom shall I say my worshipped.

It has been described in the verse: It’s wrong. But your Worshipped is That Who will cause you to die when you time will be over. Second step is that you should prostrate before Him only and then; the entire life; should remain engaged in perfection of your Faith, so that your end should be happy.
