Quran Chapter 17  5 (Pt-15, Stg-4) (L-1783) درس قرآن

Soldiers of Babylon

Surah Baniii ‘Israaa-‘iil (The Children of Israel) - 17

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

5.  So when the time for the first of the two came, We roused against you slaves of Ours of great might who ravaged (your) country. And it was a promise to be accomplished.
5.  Fa-‘izaa  jaaa-‘a  wa’-du  ‘uu-laahumaa  ba-‘asNaa  ‘alaykum  ‘ibaadal-laNaaa  ‘ulii-  ba’-sin  shadiidin  fajaasuu  khilaalad-diyaar.  Wa  kaana  wa’-dam-maf-‘uulaa.

Commentary

Fajaasuu – (they ravaged), it is a past tense from ja-wa-sa. Jawasa means “to spread all around, to rush headlong into every corner”.

Desire of the world was overcoming upon the Children of Israel as much and they were eager of their free-will to celebrate merriment to this extent that they used to care not the Commandments of God Almighty. If their Prophets (peace be upon them) used to terrify them from the wrath of Allah Almighty, they used to reprove Them and sometimes they used to kill Them (peace be upon them). By taking a false verdict from their so-call scholars, who were seekers of the world, they used to do boldly whatsoever they wish to do. These scholars too used to change the meanings of the verses according to their wishes due to greed of money.

It was commanded to them in accord with the previous verse: Ye verily will work corruption in the earth twice, and ye will become great tyrants as much that it will become necessary to punish you in the world.

It has been mentioned in this verse: At last the Children of Israel worked corruption in the earth first time. Prophet ‘Asha’-yaa’ (‘Al-Yasa’ (peace be upon him) stood to warn them and the explanations of so-called scholars were rejected, then the Children of Israel began to oppose openly and they put the Prophet (peace be upon him) to death.

It is commanded: We roused the kings of Babylon against you and the soldiers of Bukht Nasr rushed headlong into your houses, who slaughtered the members of your families cruelly and spoiled you. It was Our Promise which was accomplished, that is to say, you were punished very severely due to your insurrection.

The great tyrants

Surah Baniii ‘Israaa-‘iil (The Children of Israel) - 17

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

4.  And We decreed for the Children of Israel in the Scripture: Ye verily will work corruption in the earth twice, and ye will become great tyrants.
4.  Wa  qazayNaaa  ‘ilaa  Baniii  ‘Israaa-‘iila  fil-kitaabi  la-tufsi-dunna  fil-‘arzi  marratayni  wa  lata’-lunna  ‘uluwwan-  kabiiraa.

Commentary

Lata’-lunna – (you will be haughty and will oppress), actually this word is ta’-lawunna. ‘Uluwwan is its origin, which means “to become high”. Here it aims “tyranny and arrogance”.

It is commanded: We had caused to understand them in the Scripture and declared Our decision that if they did not refrain from their wicked deeds, and after knowing the Omnipotence of Allah Almighty; they did not become His sincere obedient, then they would be fallen into bad habits of self-conceit and haughtiness, and they would begin oppressing other people severely. And as a punishment; misfortunes would fall upon them. If once someone is habituated of evil deeds, then it becomes very difficult to give up them. Your limitless evil deeds will entrap you in such calamity that you will suffer change from past evils and begin to go on the straight path for some time. But after a short duration, you will incline unto wickedness again, as any dead smoker of cigarettes leaves smoking, but due to want of power, he desires always to smoke. Eighty per cent of such people begin to smoke again. Like this, you also will work corruption again violently, and you will be punished severely again.

It is being warned to the Muslims of Arab and the entire human beings: If you also did not know your Creator (Allah Almighty), His last Messenger Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and His last Scripture (Holy Qur’an), then you will never be able to leave your bad habits, and you also will be entangled in various kinds of misfortunes in the world and on the Day of Resurrection, you too will be afflicted by the Doom.

Our Lord! Forgive all of us and show us the Straight Path.

3.  Zurriyyata  man  hamalNaa  ma-‘a  Nuuh.  ‘Innahuu  kaana  ‘abdan- shakuuraa.

Commentary

It is commanded in this verse: Behold! In the same connection, We appointed Moses (peace be upon him) as Our Messenger and sent before you {Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him)}. And We gave him the Scripture named Torah, so that he should guide the Children of Israel unto the Path of knowing Allah Almighty and instruct them to get guidance from this Scripture. When they will understand the Power of God Almighty thoroughly, then they will see clearly that “no one is able save Allah Almighty; in whom one should trust”. This Scripture will inform them that Allah Almighty has commanded: Choose no guardian beside Me. You also are the children of those people; to whom We instructed that they should ride on the ship of Noah (peace be upon him) to save themselves from the storm. Thus they were saved from drowning in the storm.

Reflect in this matter that the people, who were drowned in the storm, were those who disbelieved in Allah Almighty and chose others as their guardians and supporters. They did not care the Commands of Allah Almighty because they did not understand His Omnipotence. They used to joke when Noah (peace be upon him) was fabricating the ship that he would pilot the ship on dry land.

They were unaware that by the Command of Allah Almighty, the same dry land would become ocean and there would be no individual having power to save himself from drowning without riding on the ship. This unusual storm was sent by Allah Almighty for the help of Noah (peace be upon him), who was His sincere servant, thankful for His Blessings and Believer of His Favors.

Commentary

This dignified Chapter begins with the word “Subhaana” {Praising, glorifying (God Almighty)}, because in it, some such circumstances have been described which cannot happen in normal condition. Besides it, a word “’Asraa” has come in the verse which means “to travel in any part of the night”. After it, when the letter “B” (bi) is used, then it becomes causal, meanings of which will be “to carry someone at night. Subhaana means “Allah Almighty is quite incomparable in the way of His working and He is Pure from any kind of defect”.

It has been commanded in this verse: Allah, the Most Glorified, carried His servant and Messenger Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) in a particular part of the night from Ka’-bah (the Inviolable Place of Worship at Makkah) to the Temple of Jerusalem; which is at a Far Distant Place from Makkah. But method of carrying Him (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) up to that Place was the rarest, because Allah Almighty establishes His methods Himself and He does not imitate any other. And no defect or fault can be found in His way of working because He is free from defects and imperfection.

Then it is commanded: The Temple of Jerusalem is such Place, all around of which, We have spread Abundance and Blessings. Then purpose of carrying the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) has been described that Allah Almighty desired to strengthen his Belief and to teach him putting the Faith in Him by showing some of His Tokens. It all was happened intentionally; according to the Plan of Allah Almighty. It was not any incidental event.

Introduction of Chapter seventeen - Quran Chapter 17 – Banii Israel (Pt-15, Stg-4) (L-1779) درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 17  Banii Israel (Pt-15, Stg-4) (L-1779) درس قرآن

Introduction of Chapter seventeen

Surah Baniii ‘Israaa-‘iil (The Children of Israel) - 17

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

Baniii ‘Isaaa-‘iil means “the Sons of Israel”. Israel is surname of Prophet Jacob (peace be upon him) and the mention of the Children of Israel is in this Chapter. Heavenly Scripture Torah was given to this nation for guidance, but they put its commandments behind and did never act upon its Instructions. It was the reason that they were punished.

Behavior of this astonishing nation has been caused to know to the Arab and the entire world at various places in Holy Qur’an and the Muslims particularly have been advised that they should not do as they (the children of Israel) did i.e. disregarding the Scripture of God Almighty (Holy Qur’an) like them and executing not fully its Commandments.

Some historical circumstances of the Children of Israel have been described briefly even in the beginning of this Chapter. And it has been commanded that as Moses (peace be upon him) was sent as a Messenger unto them, like this, now after a long time, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) has been sent unto you as a Messenger. Special supereminences have been given to him; by which it appears that his dignity is most eminent and superior to all other mankind. His (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) peculiarity is “Ascension”, which is called “’Asraa” also. ‘Asraa means “trust, reliance, means of protection, confidence, assurance, expectation, sanctuary, shelter and abode etc.” In it, he (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) was caused to make a trip of the Temple of Jerusalem in the middle of the night, whence he was brought to heavens and shown the Curiosities of those places, so that his Belief should be stronger by looking the Scenes of God’s Omnipotence and he may explain before the human beings according to their capability about the Principles of Islam properly, because it is the condition of mankind that he does not comprehend about own good or bad.

First of all, Allah Almighty guided the mankind unto Own cognizance. Then He explained clearly that what is good for them and what is injurious. He commanded also: Be careful because your deeds will be weighed and measured on the Day of Resurrection. The world pulls you unto itself but you should not be; as you are of it only. We shall give you according to your courage for what you will ask. But the world is of a few days whereas the Hereafter is an abode for ever. So you should pass your life of this world as you have been guided by Allah Almighty.

It has been commanded to the mankind: Save yourselves from Satan. He is your natural enemy. To manifest this fact, attention has been drawn towards the story of Adam (peace be upon him). Then Allah Almighty says: Obey and follow the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him). After that method of specific worship (how to offer prayer) has been described. The end of the Chapter is upon praising of Allah Almighty.

An essence of Chapter sixteen - Quran Chapter 16 – 125 to 128 (Pt-14, Stg-3) (L-1778) درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 16  125 to 128 (Pt-14, Stg-3) (L-1778) درس قرآن

An essence of Chapter sixteen

Suratun-Nahl - (The Bee) - 16

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

Lessons from Suratun-Nahl (Chapter “the Bee”) reached to an end. At first it was commanded that the life of this world is only of a few days. Therefore ignoring all other works, your first duty should be to know Allah Almighty, Who created the mankind, made the cattle obedient to human beings, by which they get milk, wool and honey etc. He caused to rain by which He produced many-colored flowers, various kinds of fruit from the earth, and from the seas; He bestowed fish, pearls and many other precious things. Then He taught the art of piloting a boat and ship, made the sun, moon, stars, mountains and rivers etc. a source of benefits for you. How much Bounties of Allah Almighty will you count which are uncountable? While you have believed in God Almighty, then you should follow the religion which He has confirmed and prove by your saying and conduct that only the Believers of Allah Almighty can be most correct in their manners and habits. Then it is commanded: when you will believe in Allah Almighty and obey His commandments, then your life of this world will be correct as well as you will be in comfort and ease on the last Day too. And if you will disbelieve and choose conjecture paths, then you will face the worst condition in the world; later or soon, and on the Day of Resurrection; you will have to suffer from extreme pain and trouble.

After that, it is commanded: Understand the summary of the Religion of Allah Almighty first of all. He commands to do justice, a favor and generosity, and He prevents from immorality, unsuitable talks, violence and trespassing. You should present the religion of God Almighty before the people with wisdom and fair exhortation, and reason with them in the better way, which should be pure from disgusting and exciting matters. If any person causes trouble for you in the way of preaching, then you should return like for like only and should not use force and tyrannize more than it. However, if you endure on other’s violence patiently, verily it is better for the patient. We should pray before Allah Almighty for His help for endurance, put our trust in Him and should not grieve on ill-manners of the people. He proclaims clearly: We are with those people who follow Our commands, save themselves from evil deeds and try their best to do good works.

It is known from this Chapter that Owner and Organizer of this world is Allah, The Most High. Mankind is His caliph. Some are such people in the world who are assemblage of excellence and a complete role model for human society. Actually they are the viceroys of Allah Almighty. When the society will become in accordance with their pattern then that will be caliph of Allah Almighty after them. Out of them, first biggest pattern of society was Abraham (peace be upon him) and after him, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace of Allah Almighty be upon him).

Praise be to Allah, lessons from the third stage of Holy Qur’an completed.
