Commentary

Fajaasuu – (they ravaged), it is a past tense from ja-wa-sa. Jawasa means “to spread all around, to rush headlong into every corner”.

Desire of the world was overcoming upon the Children of Israel as much and they were eager of their free-will to celebrate merriment to this extent that they used to care not the Commandments of God Almighty. If their Prophets (peace be upon them) used to terrify them from the wrath of Allah Almighty, they used to reprove Them and sometimes they used to kill Them (peace be upon them). By taking a false verdict from their so-call scholars, who were seekers of the world, they used to do boldly whatsoever they wish to do. These scholars too used to change the meanings of the verses according to their wishes due to greed of money.

It was commanded to them in accord with the previous verse: Ye verily will work corruption in the earth twice, and ye will become great tyrants as much that it will become necessary to punish you in the world.

It has been mentioned in this verse: At last the Children of Israel worked corruption in the earth first time. Prophet ‘Asha’-yaa’ (‘Al-Yasa’ (peace be upon him) stood to warn them and the explanations of so-called scholars were rejected, then the Children of Israel began to oppose openly and they put the Prophet (peace be upon him) to death.

It is commanded: We roused the kings of Babylon against you and the soldiers of Bukht Nasr rushed headlong into your houses, who slaughtered the members of your families cruelly and spoiled you. It was Our Promise which was accomplished, that is to say, you were punished very severely due to your insurrection.
