Quran Chapter 21  45 & 46 (Pt-17, Stg-4) (L-2054) درس قرآن

The deaf hear not the call when they are warned

Chapter “The Prophets” – (Suratul‘Ambiyaaa’ - 21)

 ‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

45.  Say (O Muhammad, unto mankind): I warn you only by the Inspiration. And the deaf hear not the call when they are warned.

46.  And if a breath of thy Lord’s punishment were to touch them, they assuredly would say: Alas for us! Lo! We were wrongdoers.
45.  Qul  ‘innamaaa  ‘unziru-kum  bil-  wahyi  wa  laa  yasma-‘us-summud-du-‘aaa-‘a  ‘izaa  maa  yunzaruun.

46.  Wa  la-‘im-massat-hum  naf-hatum-min  ‘Azaabi  Rabbika  la-yaquulunna  yaa-waylanaaa  ‘innaa  kunnaa  zaalimiin.

    Commentary

It is official duty of Muhammad, the Messenger of Allaah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) as well as all other Messengers (peace be upon them) that they should communicate His Message to the people without let or hindrance, and manifest before them entirely by their word and deed that there is no personal benefit hidden in this matter. Their object is not to acquire wealth and property, honor and dignity. They should say to the people: you think wrong that we wish to become King of you or desire to collect worldly comfort.

Therefore, it has been commanded in this verse: O Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him)! Say to the people clearly! It is not self-made command of mine which I warn you from the bad consequence of your wrong deeds. Your actual Worshiped, God and Lord has sent Inspiration unto me that putting off the Commandments mentioned in Holy Qur’an carelessly and performing not in accordance with its Orders wholeheartedly, is at last cause of destruction. If now you become deaf and hear not my call, then these are manners of your ruin. If there is a well in the way covered by straw and weeds, which cannot be seen, then those who know; they warn by calling, but the deaf do not hear. Say to them whose hearts are deaf: You are going toward the abyss of the Fire. You do not understand the warning. If now any little flame of fire touch you then you will be able to do nothing. Your eyes and ears will be opened and you will begin to cry: Alas for us! Neither we heard the Sayings of the Messengers (peace be upon them) and nor obeyed.

(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

44.  Nay, but We gave these and their fathers ease until life grew long for them. See they not how We are gradually reducing the land, from its outlying parts? Can they then be the victors?
44.  Bal  matta’-Naa  haaa-‘ulaaa-‘i  wa  ‘aabaaa-‘ahum  hattaa  taala  ‘alayhimul-‘umur.  ‘Afalaa  yarawna  ‘anNaa  Na’-til-‘arza  nunqusuhaa  min  ‘atraafi-haa.  ‘Afahumul-  gaalibuun.

    Commentary

It is commanded: Inability and helplessness of the idols is not such a thing which a mankind may not understand. When he desires to understand, understands very delicate matters and begins to find faults in every matter. What is difficult for him in understanding this very common matter that neither these idols can understand anything and nor can give answer to any question? Those can do nothing whether you pick them up and throw away or break them.

Moreover, Knowing Allaah Almighty, Who is The Omnipotent; The Beneficent and The Merciful, is also not difficult, because the entire universe has been running under His control. There is none who may change the system which He has established. Changes of day and night turn by turn, alteration of the circumstances of the world, prosperity and worse condition of the mankind, life and death of living beings etc. all such works have been running according to His prescribed Rules and Regulations.

These people can understand every matter easily if they meditate, because they are neither innocent and nor have they so weak sense that they may not understand such easy matter. In fact these people and their forefathers have been nurtured delicately since long.

Allaah Almighty commands: We gave things of pleasure and enjoyment to these people and their fathers along with long living. Therefore, they have become inebriated due to prosperity. But they should open their eyes and see that day by day, the earth has been being reduced for them, and Islam has been succeeding gradually. Now there is no chance for them to overcome and get all over victory.

42.  Say: Who guardeth you in the night or in the day from the Beneficent? Nay, but they turn away from mention of their Lord!

43.  Or have they gods who can shield them from Us? They cannot help themselves nor can they be defended from Us.

    Commentary

Yakla-‘u – (saves, defends), origin of this word is kala-‘a; which means “to defend”.

The human being makes best arrangement for his safety and thinks that these things are sufficient to defend him. Some people say that they have imaginary gods, so they bow and prostrate themselves before them. They take up with the mind that gods are their supporters and they will guard them at the time of any misfortune.

Holy Qur’an says: The Beneficent only; is your Defender. If you will keep Him pleased and obey the Sayings of His Messengers (peace be upon them), then He will save you from all disasters and help you at the time of necessity. However, if you disbelieved in Him and ascribed other self-made gods as His partners, then there will be none who may defend you from His wrath. It is their carelessness that they do not know The Beneficent and turn away when His mention is recited, though He is their Lord.

Bear it in mind that if the Beneficent desired to torment; then none of your self-fabricated defenders will be able to shield you. Not only those cannot save you but those cannot even defend themselves. Moreover, their followers are also unable to support you against Allaah Almighty.

    Commentary

Haaqa – (it surrounded), this is past tense from the word “hawqun”, which means “to ensnare, to revert, to fall back”. It aims, “they used to mock the doom of Allaah Almighty and His Revelations, so they were surrounded due to its punishment”.

It is commanded: When that Hour would have to come, will come all of a sudden. And when it will come; then you will be stupefied due to fear of terror. You will not have any individual or collective power that you may stop or repel it. And nor will you be given any respite that you may fight against it after getting any support. Alas is if this world and its cheerfulness makes you careless from its side. But often it happened that the people have mocked the Messengers (peace be upon them) during past times and by considering their sayings cursory and valueless; they evaded, whereas those were very weighty.

They (peace be upon them) had disclosed the secret of the life, but the people of the world did not try to understand them and considered that their sayings were useless. At last, the sayings of the Messengers (peace be upon them) were true and the disobedient people had to undergo punishment due to their arrogance and they were ruined.

    Commentary

Selfish-nesses of the human being have sown as much dissensions in the world that after hearing the state of which, the hairs stand on end. What condition of those people would have become who would have seen them? Messengers of Allaah Almighty (peace be upon them) caused to understand them that: Behold! Use your sense! Don’t oppress others for the cause of own pleasures. You would have to suffer from retribution of violating their rights.

But they did not care, ignored their (peace be upon them) sayings and began to say: Go and bring the torment, so that we may see that you are really true!

They were admonished: You should not hasten in asking for punishment. If you did not refrain from doing wrong then certainly the torment would come later or soon. Moreover, the Day of Resurrection has been fixed for the purpose that the wrongdoers should be punished.

After hearing this; they said: If you are saying true then tell us that when the Day of Resurrection will come? It seems that your saying about the Day of Resurrection is self-fabricated. In fact there is neither any Day of Resurrection, nor reckoning of accounts, nor punishment and nor reward.

As answer to their saying, it is being warned to them: If you knew that in what manner would be That Time, then you will never hasten in this matter. At that Time the Fire will enclose you from all around. Its flames will scorch your faces and you will not be able to do something. That will attack on your backs and you will not be able to stop it. You will cry due to pain and fear that someone should help you and bring you out by pulling from the burning Fire, but no one will come for your help. Are you hastening for That Time?

37.  Khuliqal-‘insaanu  min  ‘ajal.  Sa-‘Uriikum  ‘AayaaTii  falaa  tasta’-jiluun.

    Commentary

Laa  tasta’-jiluuna – (Ask Me not to hasten!), origin of this word is ‘isti’-jaalun. This word has passed in the beginning of second Section of Chapter 17 (Surah  Baniii  ‘Israaa-‘iil).

If any mankind is fond of inquiring into the Truth and he is able to search out the reality by looking the signs, then it is not difficult for him to know that in fact; Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) is Messenger of Allaah Almighty.

It has been commanded in these verses: O Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him)! Whenever these people visit you, nothing strikes them save it that they should treat you with contempt. When they see you, they say one to another mutually: Behold! Is this the person who makes mention of your gods? These people desert from the mention of the Beneficent, Who is the Worshipped in Truth.

Then it is commanded: Making haste has been filled fully in the nature of mankind. The disbelievers say: Let the torment come immediately if it comes. Say to them: I don’t make haste. I shall show you My portents very soon, so you should not say to Me that I should hasten.

35.  Kullu  nafsin-  zaaa-‘iqatul-mawt.  Wa  Nabluu-kum-  bishsharri  wal-khayri  fitnah.  Wa  ‘ilayNaa  turja-‘uun.

    Commentary

It was previously mentioned that Allaah Almighty has created this entire universe with His Divine Power. There was nothing before it. Then the matter appeared, in which all things as the heavens and the earth etc. had been adhered. After that, the matter began to spread by His Command and all the things began to be visible. Water rained from the sky; by which the vegetation was produced. After all, living things were born from the water in due course of time. In the end, the mankind was created; in whom; powers of various sorts appeared and ability of perfect improvement was placed.

In these verses, it has been pointed out that being a Messenger (peace be upon him) is the utmost limit of mankind’s perfection, which is acquired by only special persons. But with regard to natural conditions, the Messenger (peace be upon him) is a mankind also, and because the mortality is for the mankind too like the entire living things, so the Messengers (peace be upon them) also are not excepted from the death. Thought of these people is false that if Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) is a Messenger then he cannot die. And if he (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) died then this entire splendor of Islam would be finished.

In this regard, it is commanded: O Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him)! No mankind remained living perpetually before you. Death and Messenger-hood are not opposite to each other that those may not be gathered. Moreover, they should not be happy for it that “after the death of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), we shall be all in all”. Because when the death did not exempt the Messengers (peace be upon them) then how can they be saved from it? Life and death, good and evil (both) are in the world. The aim from them is mankind’s examination. At the end, all human beings will come unto Us and then they will come to know that “who passed the examination?”
