Lesson # 1126 - Acceptable apology

Lesson # 1126 from Holy Qur-’aan

Acceptable apology

Surah ‘TAWBAH or BARAAA-‘AH (REPENTANCE) – Chapter – 9)
Stage – 2, Verse – 91 of 129, Section – 12 of 16 (Part – 10)

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

91.  Not unto the weak nor unto the sick nor unto those who can find naught to spend is any fault (to be imputed though they stay at home) if they are true to Allah and His Messenger. Not unto the good is there any way (of blame). Allah is Forgiving, Merciful-
91.  Laysa  ‘alazzu-‘afaaa-‘i  wa  laa  ‘alal-marzaa  wa  laa  ‘alal-laziina  laa  yaji-duuna  maa  yunfiquuna  harajun  ‘izaa  nasahuu  Lillaahi  wa  RasuuliH.  Maa  ‘alal-Muhsiniina  min-  sabiil.  Wallaahu  Gafuurur-Rahiim.

Lesson

There was mention in the previous verse about those people who bring forward false excuses and make untrue impostures. In this verse; it is commanded about such people; whose excuses are acceptable. Those excuses are – weakness, illness, poverty and besides this, there is one more excuse, which will be discussed in the next lesson.

It is commanded that women, children and old people are exempted due to their weakness and debility. If they do not participate in the battle, there is no objection. Like this, such people; who are sick and unable to bear physical labor, they are granted permission also. The poor people can be kept excusable too because; for the journey; there is a need of provision for the journey and weapons and equipment for the battle. Participation in war without these things is just like putting oneself in danger.

If these three kinds of people do not partake in war; then their excuses can be accepted. Verily they are unserviceable but the condition is that; they are in favor of the Muslims, and encourage them with moral support. They should persuade the healthy and rich people for participation in the Battle. They should not let disclosed by their word and work, any such matter, due to which others lose their spirit. They should prove by their conversation that they are sincere and good, and support the Muslims in all sorts; which are in their power at this stage.

Such people, who prove at their every step that they are good, are unaccountable from all charges. These entire people are included in the category of magnificent people, and a good person cannot be blamed. Their normal errors and mistakes, which are committed due to natural tendencies of being a human, will be forgiven by Allah Almighty because He is Forgiving, Merciful.

Lesson # 1125 - End of those who lied to God and His Prophet

Lesson # 1125 from Holy Qur-’aan

End of those who lied to God and His Prophet

Surah ‘TAWBAH or BARAAA-‘AH (REPENTANCE) – Chapter – 9)
Stage – 2, Verse – 90 of 129, Section – 12 of 16 (Part – 10)

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

90.  And those among the wandering Arabs who had an excuse came in order that permission might be granted them; and those who lied to Allah and His Messenger sat at home. A painful doom will fall on those of them who disbelieve.
90.  Wa  jaaa-‘al-mu-‘az-ziruuna  minal-‘A’-raabi  liyu’-zana  lahum  wa  qa-‘adal-laziina  kaza-bUllaaha  wa  RasuulaH.  Sa-yusii-bulla-ziina  kafaruu  minhum  ‘azaabun  ‘aliim.

Lesson

It was described about those Hypocrites, in the previous verses, who were living in Madinah city. These people came unto Messenger of Allah Almighty (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) and told their pretenses separately by every individual, because they did not give any importance to the preparation for the Battle of Tabuuk, and requested for permission to sit at home.

In this verse, there is recitation about the villagers. When they heard that the Muslims have been ordered to move for war towards Syria; and the people have been getting ready for this purpose, then some of them came towards the Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) on the basis of outward connections and requested: At this occasion; our participation would be difficult. In addition to readiness of crops and seasonal heat, we fear also that neighboring enemies will rob our all wealth and family at home by reaping advantage from our absence. Therefore, please grant us permission so that we may live at home. These people are included in mu-‘az-ziruun (who had an excuse).

Some were such people who did not make preparation for the Battle. They did not move from their homes but heard the news from one ear and drove out from the other. These people were called qaa-‘iduun. In this verse these both kinds of people have been mentioned.

It is commanded that some people from the wandering Arabs came to Madinah for getting permission to stay at home for keeping made their outward reputation, whereas some did not care even of ostentation and sat at home. These both kinds of people are blameworthy. If they would not repent in future, but lived as unbeliever and died as infidel, then, there is a very painful doom ready for them on the Day of Resurrection.

However, those people; whose excuses are reasonable; they deserve permission. Remaining all false impostors will grieve in the world as well as they will deserve painful doom on the Day of Resurrection, on the condition that they do not renounce with true heart.

The commentators have told the names of those villagers, however, knowing their names or otherwise, is equal. Actual aim from it is that everyone should know the end of these kinds of people, so that they all should fear at their own and understand well that Allah Almighty and His Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) cannot be deceived. Only sincerity and true belief will be useful there. Those, who make false excuses; will be punished properly, retaliation of their evil intentions, if possible; in the world, otherwise certainly in the Hereafter. And their punishment is like a warning for the Muslims; that whether; are they not turning their faces by evading from the obedience of Allah Almighty?

Lesson # 1124 - Gardens underneath which rivers flow

Lesson # 1124 from Holy Qur-’aan

Gardens underneath which rivers flow

Surah ‘TAWBAH or BARAAA-‘AH (REPENTANCE) – Chapter – 9)
Stage – 2, Verse – 89 of 129, Section – 11 of 16 (Part – 10)

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

89.  Allah hath made ready for them Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide for ever. That is the supreme triumph.
89.  ‘A-‘addAllaahu  lahum Jannaa-tin-  tajrii  min-  tahti-hal-‘anhaaru  khaali-diina  fii-haa.  Zaalikal-faw-zul-‘aziim.

Lesson

Some circumstances were described earlier that in which condition and duration; it was commanded that the Muslims should be ready for the Battle of Tabuuk. The Muslim had returned dog tired from a Battle. But forthwith; they were ordered that they should be prepared for another war. Weather was very hot. Every individual was aspiring to lie down at shady places unnecessarily. Particularly the tired people, who have come from journey of summer season, cannot be ready to give up rest. But at such time which promptness was shown by the Muslims, they proved that they were really sincere and partners of Muslims in adversity, its instance cannot be found in the world history.

As soon as the Muslims were commanded to be prepared, they all got ready to obey the Command. Except three persons, no man of means escaped from joining in the Battle. Every Muslim was present there; to sacrifice his life for Islam. Those people who were rich, they presented their wealth and money according to their means, but some of them were those who gave more than their capacity. Abu Bakr (May Allah be pleased with him) brought his entire goods. Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) gave his half wealth. Usman (May Allah be pleased with him) helped with open heart. This all was not for any worldly greed, but with true heart, for getting the pleasure of Allah Almighty and His Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam). Then which success they acquired, certainly they deserved it.

In the previous verse, it was described ordinarily that these people are successful in the both Worlds, which was fulfilled in the world exactly as it was commanded; that they returned from the Battle of Tabuuk as they desired, and they became very famous in the environs of the world. And all non-Muslims began to tremble from their names.

In this verse, that ease and comfort has been mentioned which is ready for them in the Hereafter. For joining the Army, which was moving for this Battle, they left shady trees, cold water, comfort of home i.e. everything for the Cause of Allah Almighty and His Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam). For them, there are verdant Gardens, loaded with Fruits, on the Day of Resurrection. None can drive them out from that Place. They will dwell there for ever with comfort and ease. Rivers of cold water will be flowing before them and they will enjoy these all blessings with pleasure. Which success can be greater than it? Verily, acquiring for ever, all goods of comfort and ease for oneself; is last limit of good luck and fortune, by giving up worldly comfort; suffering from thirst, heat and sunlight which are only for a few days, in obedience and for the Pleasure of Allah Almighty and His Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam). Even today, if any fortunate person is desirous of these perpetual blessings, the same path of sacrifice is open for him.

Lesson # 1123 from Holy Qur-’aan

Sacrificing life and wealth

Surah ‘TAWBAH or BARAAA-‘AH (REPENTANCE) – Chapter – 9)
Stage – 2, Verse – 88 of 129, Section – 11 of 16 (Part – 10)

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

88.  But the Messenger and those who believe with him strove with their wealth and their lives, such are they for whom are the good things, and such are they who are the Successful.
88.  Laakinir-Rasuulu  walla-ziina  ‘aamanuu  ma-‘ahum  jaahaduu  bi-‘amwaa-lihim  wa  ‘anfu-sihim.  Wa  ‘ulaaa-‘ika  lahumul-khay-raat.  Wa  ‘ulaaa-‘ika  humul-Muf-lihuun.

Lesson

About the Hypocrites, it was described in the previous verse that these people do neither give any importance to Islam and Muslims, and nor determine their effort of going forth; as an effort, and nor consider their sacrifices as “a tent or other baggage sent on in advance” for success.

Out of them, rich and effective people come unto Messenger of Allah Almighty (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) formally and by making some stories of hither and thither, they ask to grant them leave from including in the battle. They wish to sit at home along with disabled people.

Reason of it is not that; really they are disabled of any kind, but actually, veil is lying on their understanding and their hearts are encaged strongly; that any intelligible thing cannot be contained into them. They consider that the works of God’s Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) and Muslims are nothing but only a game.

They say carelessly: Verily the Muslims have not faced any contentious nation so far, and now they are going to fight against heavy odds (Syria and Rome). We hope that they will sit down in the first stage like a bubble; otherwise, consequently, they will defeat these (Muslims). And it will not take too much time because they (the Syrians) have conquered the world. How can they (Muslims) succeed against them? Suppose, if they succeeded, then how many days? Against them, in this verse, condition of the supporters of Islam has been narrated, who do not hesitate from sacrificing for the Cause of their Religion.

It is commanded: You heard the circumstances of the Hypocrites. Now let us discuss about the true Believers. These are the people who believe in the Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) and along with it they partake in every effort of the development of Islam wholeheartedly.

It is the Dignity of the Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) and His followers that when any chance comes into their hand, they present themselves along with their wealth to sacrifice, and whatever is commanded to them, they comply with heartily without any hesitation. What will be result of these obedient people? It cannot be decided by the Hypocrites. Allah Almighty has full Decision Power, Who says: Success of the both Worlds and the best life is only for them, and they will be passed everywhere in their efforts and will find good fruit of their good deeds.

Success of the world will be disclosed very soon, and they will be given remuneration on the Day of Resurrection also, which will be described in the next verse.

Lesson # 1122 - Apprehending and apprehending not

Lesson # 1122 from Holy Qur-’aan

Apprehending and apprehending not

Surah ‘TAWBAH or BARAAA-‘AH (REPENTANCE) – Chapter – 9)
Stage – 2, Verse – 87 of 129, Section – 11 of 16 (Part – 10)

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

87.  They are content that they should be with those who remained behind and their hearts are sealed, so that they apprehend not.
87.  Razuu  bi-‘any-yakuunuu  ma-‘al-khawaa-lifi  wa  tubi-‘a  ‘alaa  quluu-bihim  fahum  laa  yafqa-huun.

Lesson

When sense of the mankind becomes loyal of unreasonable wishes, then it cannot understand the actual matter. His heart is sealed. The light of wisdom cannot reach into him. It is the reason that it has been instructed strongly in Islam: Behold! Keep purified your heart from evil wishes. Their impression should not take your hearts; otherwise no truth will enter in them.

Any correct and straight forward person can never consider good to idleness, escaping from work and immortality etc. but if wickedness and bad habits have influenced one’s heart, then he remains in own persistence and wants to do as he desires.

Observe the Hypocrites of Madinah. Enmity of Islam and love of uncivilized traditions and customs have infected their veins and muscles. Therefore they do not feel shame from many evil and mean habits.

It is commanded: If you wish to see the example of duly corrupted hearts and being useless of the wisdom, then you should observe the condition of these hypocrites. They do not feel bashfulness in falling under the category of weak and indolent people, women and children. But they are very happy due to sitting at home, because it is acceptable for them to be cowardly and impotent, and they do not like going forth by the Muslims. This enmity against the Muslims have made room in their hearts in such a way that no good advice can enter in them. Wise people understand it that they have lost their senses, but they have become totally careless.

It is such a thing as after filling enmity against Islam in their hearts, now the covers of the hearts have been sealed. Now neither that enmity can come out and nor any good advice can enter in their hearts. It is also understandable from this verse that if something wrong has sat in the heart, then the mankind does not remain able to understand the matters of wisdom. So it is necessary to save the heart from bad companies and evil effects, otherwise there is no doubt in its destruction.

Lesson # 1121 from Holy Qur-’aan

Those people cannot be trusted

Surah ‘TAWBAH or BARAAA-‘AH (REPENTANCE) – Chapter – 9)
Stage – 2, Verse – 86 of 129, Section – 11 of 16 (Part – 10)

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

86.  And when a Surah is revealed (which saith): Believe in Allah and strive along with His Messenger, the men of wealth among them still ask leave of thee and say: Suffer us to be with those who sit (at home).
86.  Wa  ‘izaaa  ‘unzilat  Suuratun  ‘an  ‘aaminuu  Billaahi  wa  jaahiduu  ma-‘a  Rasuuli-hista’-zanaka  ‘ulut-tawli  minhum  wa  qaaluu  zarnaa  nakum-ma-‘alqaa-‘idiin.

Lesson

It is a narration about common behavior of the Hypocrites of Madinah. They could not succeed due to the behavior of the Muslims, which they adopted with them in those days, according to the Instructions of Holy Qur’an, otherwise they would have stopped the Muslims, from going forth, by entrapping them in their own wrangling.

The verses of Holy Qur’an guided the Muslims that they should increase their strength and community sincerely, not be deceived from apparent prosperity, pomp and show of the hypocrites. They should remain busy always in planning “how to make and keep them weak and unarmed”. Otherwise it manifests from their character and conduct that they will try their best that the Muslims should not get strong.

Then once again, the intention has been drawn in this verse, particularly towards their public behavior. It is commanded: Apparently those people are on very intimate terms with Muslims. But when they are asked to do some work, then they evade of various sorts and try to run away.

When a command is revealed in any Surah: Believe in Allah Almighty wholeheartedly, help the Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) in every condition when He comes out for fighting against the enemy for self protection, and sacrifice your lives and wealth for safety of the Muslims along with Him (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam). Then at that time you see, powerful, strong and rich people of them come sobbing and making their mouth like wretch people and say: What should we do now? We have been suffering from such condition that we are unable to go forth and participate in the battle along with you at this time. We wish wholeheartedly that we should partake, but the circumstances do not permit us. Therefore, kindly grant us leave; that we should be left behind along with those, who are being left behind unwanted and who are unable to move; as children, women, crippled and old people, whereas these all are their false pretexts. In fact, they do not believe in Allah Almighty and consider nothing to His Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam).

Lesson # 1120 - Purpose of God is to punish them in the world

Lesson # 1120 from Holy Qur-’aan

Purpose of God is to punish them in the world

Surah ‘TAWBAH or BARAAA-‘AH (REPENTANCE) – Chapter – 9)
Stage – 2, Verse – 85 of 129, Section – 11 of 16 (Part – 10)

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

85.  Let not their wealth nor their children marvel thee! Allah purposeth only to punish them thereby in the world, and that their souls shall pass away while they are disbelievers.
85.  Wa  laa tu’-jibka  ‘amwaa-luhum  wa  ‘awlaa-duhum.  ‘Innamaa  yurii-dUllaahu  ‘any-yu-‘azzibahum-  bihaa  fid-dunyaa  wa  taz-haqa  ‘anfu-suhum  wa  hum  kaafi-ruun.

Lesson

Nowadays, dishonest and fraudulent people are successful everywhere, because they are rich, and they have all signs of wealth i.e. large bungalows, cars, servants, companions, dear ones and children in abundance. People consider that if they will not agree to them then where they will live. Their influence has been spread in every direction. Rulers, administers of the empire and police etc. are under their control and they reap advantage by means of bribery commonly. They welcome earnestly and courteously to their supporters also. In short, it seems that they dwell in the world as they have been living in the Paradise. Observing this all, one can think: Their way of life would be good as they are seen prosperous.

It has been narrated in this verse that one should not be deceived from their apparent pomp and show. All that glitters is not gold. Their wealth and prosperity are only for ostentation. Actually their wealth, their children and those people who are under their influence, are misfortune for their life. Their friends and lovers are like kites and crows for them, and whenever they find any chance, they pinch and eat; even their flesh pieces. They snatch money from them by threatening in many ways. They seek and find their internal secrets and being acquainted, they threaten them to disclose their secrets. And whatever they wish, take from them. And for keeping their reputation firm, they are compelled to please them in each condition. On the other side, thieves, robbers and swindlers lie in wait for them every time.

At last, if their personal life is studied, nothing is visible save heap of confusion, anxiety and uneasiness. They are upset due to thought of self protection and safety of own wealth, and feel as they are being eaten by weevil (of such thoughts). They are so much engaged in the worldly matters that they have no spare time for thinking a while and performing for the next life also. In such condition of ignorance and worldly disputes, they have been dying. And their name is entered in the list of Infidels at the time of death. Such kind of life should not be worth considering for any individual.

There is a lesson in this verse for those people, who begin to talk in favor of wealthy vagabonds being awe-stricken from them.

Lesson # 1119 - Social and commercial boycott with the vicious

Lesson # 1119 from Holy Qur-’aan

Social and commercial boycott with the vicious

Surah ‘TAWBAH or BARAAA-‘AH (REPENTANCE) – Chapter – 9)
Stage – 2, Verse – 84 of 129, Section – 11 of 16 (Part – 10)

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

84.  And never (O Muhammad) pray for one of them who dieth, nor stand by his grave. Lo! they disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger, and they died while they were evildoers.
84.  Wa  laa  tusalli  ‘alaaa  ‘aha-dim-minhum-maata  ‘abadanw-wa  laa  taqum  ‘alaa qabrih.  ‘Inna-hum  kafaruu  Billaahi  wa  Rasuu-liHii  wa  maatuu  wa  hum  faasi-quun.

Lesson

It is commanded that you should keep only necessary friendly intercourse with the mischievous, wicked and hypocrites, so that they may know clearly that, according to the community’s view, their behavior is extremely objectionable, and they should correct their acts by feeling their errors. If someone of them dies, then O Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam)! You should never cause to say funereal prayer for him and nor should you stand by his grave, because doing so, some inclination towards them becomes manifest.

The Muslims, as a community, should practice some unkindness with them. Therefore their religious leader should not cause to say funeral prayer for any such person, about whom he knows that he did not care for the Law conformable to Shara’. His relatives can bury him after causing to say his funeral prayer at their own.

Main reason of it is that those people used to deny Allah Almighty and His Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) openly and fearlessly, and in the condition of disobedience, they died. They could not repent. The community should have no connection with such people.

It has passed earlier that Abdullah bin Obayy had died before revelation of this verse and the Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) caused to say his funeral prayer; keeping common human sympathy in view, as well as bestowed His (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) shirt also for his shroud, and at the time of his burial, prayed for him too.

But when this verse was revealed then neither He (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) participated in the funeral ceremony of any hypocrite and nor in his shrouding. The names of the hypocrites were told by the Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) to Huzayfah (May Allah be pleased with him). So Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) used to observe participation of Huzayfah (May Allah be pleased with him) in the funeral ceremony of any person that if he {Huzayfah (May Allah be pleased with him)} is present there then He {Umar (May Allah be pleased with him)} used to participate, otherwise no.

Nowadays this matter has become complicated that how the vagabonds and immoral people should be straightened. For this purpose, making laws and ordinary instructions for being careful from such people is useless. Its treatment is that; which can be understood from this verse. That is to say; public which abide by the law, should break off all social connections from them, so that being helpless through boycott, they may be compelled to correct themselves or be ruined by fighting. There is no other treatment more useful than shutting out social and commercial intercourse. Now-a-day, friendly intercourse is kept up equally with the vicious people, so their strength has been increasing.
