‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

94.  And make not your oaths a deceit between you, lest a foot should slip after being firmly planted and ye should taste evil forasmuch as ye debarred (men) from the Way of Allah, and yours should be an awful doom.
94.  Wa  laa  tattakhizuuu  ‘aymaa-nakum  dakhalam-baynakum  fata-zilla  qadamum-  ba’-da  subuutihaa  wa  tazuuqus-suuu-‘a  bimaa  sadat-tum  ‘an-  SabiiLillaah.  Wa  lakum  ‘azaabun  ‘aziim.

Commentary

Dakhalun – (source of deceiving), this word has passed in Lesson # 1755 (verse 92a). Here it aims “source of misleading others and causing to excite a disturbance among the people”.

Tazilla – (slipping, trembling), origin of this word is zillatun, which means “slipping of a foot, to tremble”.

Sadat-tum – (you debarred), it is past tense from the word saddun, which means “to debar, to hinder”.

It is commanded that if you will break your treaties of alliance, then those people will be separated from you who joined you after looking your honesty, that you are impostors. And those will change their mind also who were desirous to join your community, that such people are untrustworthy who make new friends without delay for their slight benefits and leave their old friends. From such behavior, your fast friends will also be separated from you. Islam will be defamed and by observing your conduct, the people will slip away from the Path; fixed by Allah Almighty; after choosing it. By this, your community will be harmed severely, and consequently you all will be suffering from an awful doom.

Known from it is that the Muslims should never commit such acts; by which Islam is defamed and the people begin to run away from the Right Path.
