Quran Chapter 17  100 (Pt-15, Stg-4) (L-1848) درس قرآن

Holding back wealth for fear of spending

Surah Baniii ‘Israaa-‘iil (The Children of Israel) – 17

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

100.  Say (unto them): If ye possessed the treasures of the Mercy of my Lord, ye would surely hold them back for fear of spending. And man is ever so miserly.
100.  Qul-law  ‘antum  tamli-kuuna  khazaaa-‘ina  Rahmati Rabbiii  ‘izalla-‘amsaktum  khash-yatal-‘infaaq.  Wa  kaanal-‘insaanu  qatuuraa.
(SECTION 11)

Commentary

‘Amsaktum – (you would hold back), it is a past tense from the word masaka, which means “to stop, to be hindered”. ‘Amsaak means “to hold back”. Mumsik means “a miser”.

Qatuuraa – (miserly person for members of own family), qatara means “to be stingy”.

The mankind cannot comprehend the Extent of the Mercy of Allah Almighty as long as he does not believe by accepting his humility and powerlessness that Allah Almighty is Perfect Omnipotent, and till when he does not consider that God Almighty is Pure from bad feelings. Saying in Arabic language “SubhaanAllaah” (Glorified be Allah) is an acceptance that He is neither helpless and nor He has useless passions. As soon as the human being will admit it, then he will feel no difficulty in believing the Ascension and understanding the extent of the Mercy and Bounty of Allah Almighty.

It is being strengthened from the beginning of this Chapter that Power of Allah Almighty is boundless. He is not bound of worldly laws for doing any work. In this verse, it has been clarified in these words: Behold! The mankind is bound of desires and ambitions, whereas Allah Almighty does not need anything. He bestows with His Mercy to whom He wills. He is not like mankind who possesses but does not wish to give any thing to any other.

From this verse, it is required to explain that in the works of human beings, there are many hindrances due to time and distance. For the remoteness; any riding/carriage is required and for the Time any fast going equipment should be arranged. At the other hand, he does never wish to give any thing in his possession because he is greedy.

These both difficulties can never compel Allah Almighty, Who exalted His last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) with Ascension (Ma’-raaj). Moreover, He bestowed unto him also the last Scripture named Holy Qur’an with His Bounty; which is most advantageous thing for the entire human beings. Mankind is miserly, if he takes possession of the treasures of the Mercy of God Almighty, even then due to stinginess he will hold back for the fear of spending.
