Doubts of Disbelievers

Chapter Hajj” – (The Pilgrimage) - 22

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

54b.  And lo! Allah verily is guiding those who believe unto a Right Path.

55.  And those who disbelieve will not cease to be in doubt thereof until the Hour come upon them unawares, or there come unto them the doom of a Disastrous Day.
54b.  Wa  ‘innAllaaha  la-Haadil-laziina  .aamanuuu  ‘ilaa  Siraatim-Mustaqiim.

55.  Wa  laa  yazaalul-laziina  kafaruu  fii  miryatim-minhu  hattaa  ta’-tiya-humus-Saa-‘atu  bagtatan  ‘aw  ya’-tiyahum  ‘azaabu  Yawmin  ‘aqiim.

Commentary

Haadin – (A Director, a Leader, a Guide, a Spiritual Guide), actually this word is Haadii, which has come out from “Hidaayat”. Hidaayat means “Guidance, instruction, righteousness”.

Miryatin – (doubt).

‘Aqiimun – (disastrous, barren, having no children, childless), this word is an adjective from ‘aqam, which means “to block, to shut, to close, to discontinue”. A barren woman is called ‘aqiimah also”. Here, the word ‘Aqiim has been used for a Particular Day, which aims that there will be no way of salvage towards any side. That will be closed from all around.

It was known from the previous verses that Allaah Almighty desires to examine the mankind after bestowing sense and mind to him, by creating some useful and injurious things for him in the world. Even that the verses of Holy Qur’an cannot be understood correctly until the temptations created by Satan and own evil wishes are stopped from spoiling the senses.

It has been commanded in this verse: Allaah Almighty will bestow correct understanding to the people who will believe in Him by saving them from above mentioned both miseries and show them the Right Path. But the people, who will not believe in Allaah Almighty, will not be able to find the Straight Path. Their hearts will be entangled in the temptations of Satan and they will have doubts always in the Truth. While there is no Belief, then save it there is nothing to bring them out from their doubts; that the Day of Resurrection should come suddenly or there is no form of safety from the coming doom of a Disastrous Day. But if their doubts are cleared at that time, it will be useless for them. If they understood before arrival of any disaster, it would be an advantageous matter for them.
