Quran Chapter 24: 23 & 24 (Pt-18, Stg-4) (L-2213)

False accusers will be punished severely

Chapter Nuur” – (Light) - 24

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

23.  Lo! as for those who traduce virtuous, believing women (who are) careless, cursed are they in the world and the Hereafter. And theirs will be an awful doom –

24.  On the Day when their tongues and their hands and their feet testify against them as to what they used to do.
23.  ‘Innallaziina  yarmuunal-muhsanaatil-gaafilaatil- Mu’-minaati  lu-‘inuu  fid-dunyaa  wal-‘Aakhirah.  Wa  lahum  ‘Azaabun  ‘aziim.

Commentary

Tash-hadu  ‘alay-him – {they (tongues, hands and feet etc.) will testify against them}, origin of the word tash-hadu is shahaadatun, which means “evidence”. The aim from tash-hadu  ‘alay-him is “their body parts will give evidence clearly against them”.

Those people have been threatened strongly in these verses who traduce virtuous, believing women. It is commanded: The evil nature people will be cursed in this world and on the Day of Resurrection who accuse falsely and charge upon the married; chaste women; who do not have any connection with indecency and have belief in Allaah Almighty. To impute such virtuous women is a great sin.

By this, collective life of the world is spoiled. Therefore, its worldly punishment is scourging with the whip, and such people will be tormented very severely on the Day of Resurrection too. They should not be proud of it that they can deny on the Doomsday. Their own tongues, hands and feet will give evidence that they calumniated a chaste woman and committed evil works.
