Quran Chapter 33: Review (Pt-22, Stg-5) (L-2625) درس قرآن

Brief note on Chapter Thirty Three

Chapter ’Al-‘Ahzaab” - (The Clans) - 33

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

Chapter ‘Al-Ahzaab (The Clans) causes us to learn that the mankind is not - only good or only bad like other creatures. As ability of being good exists in him, like this he can become bad also. He has made a covenant with Allaah Almighty that he will obey His Commandments, and follow the Rules and Regulations prescribed by Him. He has promised that if he did wrong, he would have to undergo punishment. It is the reason that he has not power to determine a way of practice for himself and make Law according to his will. The Law made by Allaah Almighty is ready for him to dwell under its prescribed terms. If he opposed that Law, would be punished.

Some compulsory Articles of that Law have been described in this Chapter. It has been explained in this Surah that adopted son cannot become your real son; as breast of anybody does not have two hearts. Like this, there cannot be two fathers or two mothers of any individual. Regarding mutual relationships of the mankind, it is commanded: The Messenger of Allaah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) is as closer to you as nearer than your life. His wives (May Allaah be pleased with them) are mothers of the Believers.

Conduct of the Hypocrites has been censured in the Battle of Trench, which is called “the Battle of the Clans” also. The wives (May Allaah be pleased with them) of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) have been given authority that they would have to pass their lives with care if they desire to live in the house of the Prophet (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him). A great reward is ready for them in the Hereafter. But they cannot live at the house of Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) if they desire the world.

Then it was commanded: The wives (May Allaah be pleased with them) of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) should dwell in the house. Suppose if they have to go abroad for fulfilling any requirement, they should draw their cloaks close round them, so that the immoral people may not have any chance of annoying them. Muslim women should follow the wives (May Allaah be pleased with them) of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) in this matter.

The Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) has been set free from ordinary house-keeping rules, so that he may preach about religious matters easily. The people have been taught etiquettes of visiting the houses of others. Stress has been laid on them that they should send blessing on the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and salute him with a worthy salutation. And at the end, it has been cleared that the mankind has undertaken to bear it that he would abide by the Commandments of Allaah Almighty; otherwise he would have to suffer the punishment.

This covenant is a Trust, and every mankind should be keeper and protector of it. The person, who will not care for it, will deserve punishment.

Commentary

It is commanded: None from the creatures accepted to bear the load of Our Trust because they feared. But when the same Trust was produced before the mankind, he undertook to bear it immediately. The fact is that he was able to bear it, because; as he could pay its rights, he could err also in performing this duty. As he could know the reality by thinking, he could remain ignorant too by being careless from it. Accordingly, it was the result which was to be.

Allaah Almighty will punish them who did not pay the rights of His Trust, whether those are men or women, and whether paying not the rights is in the form of hypocrisy; which is a hidden way, or in the form of paganism; which is an open form.

And Allaah Almighty will bestow His Bounty upon believing men and believing women because the Belief is a proof of paying the rights of the Trust. Moreover, if they fell short in paying the rights due to any reason, they will be forgiven because Ever is Allaah Almighty Forgiving and Most Merciful.

In short, the mankind is a trustee creature. His deeds will not remain useless but reckoned. Good and bad deeds will be separated. Consequently he will be punished due to bad deeds or given good reward due to good deeds.

That is the end of Chapter 33.

Commentary

It is commanded: The result of fearing Allaah Almighty and speaking the words straight to the point will be that He will amend for you your deeds and forgive you your sins and errors, by which certainly your condition will be rectified in the world as well as in the Hereafter (at both places). If you ask the truth, the reality is this that whosoever obeyed the Commands of Allaah Almighty and Sayings of His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), certainly attained a great attainment. There will be good for him/her in both the worlds, they will get rid of all perplexities and be saved from entire confusions.

After that, it is commanded: The life of the mankind should be endowed for the safety of the Trust of Allaah Almighty. And that Trust is “thinking concerning Allaah Almighty”, which aims that you should obey the Order of Allaah Almighty against your desires, otherwise you will be punished.

It is commanded: We offered this Trust before apparently great and powerful creatures like the heavens, the earth and the mountains, and intimated them: You will be entitled to admit the responsibility of complying with the Commandments of Allaah Almighty by accepting the Law of Punishment. Agree to it that particular Divine percepts of religion should be established for you, in accordance with which if you performed, would be successful. But if you commit against the Law, then you should be punished. You would have to give up your independence in case of you follow the Instructions of this Law, and you would have to abide by all Commandments of Allaah Almighty against your will.

70.  Yaaa-‘ayyuhallaziina  ‘aamanutta-qUllaaha  wa  quuluu  qaw-lan- sadiidaa.

Commentary

Sketch of circumstances, which will happen on the Day of Resurrection with those who disbelieve in Allaah Almighty in this world, has been drawn in the verses mentioned earlier. There will be no limit of their regret and repentance. They will curse very severely to those who were their chiefs and leaders during their worldly life, that they misled them astray from the Straight Path.

After that, it has been instructed to the Believers in this verse: You should not misbehave with your Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) as the Children of Israel did with Moses (peace be upon him). They afflicted him in various ways, charged and accused him falsely. But Moses (peace be upon him) was saved because he was well honored and esteemed in the Sight of Allaah Almighty. It was proved that he was innocent, but they spoiled their future who troubled him.

Then it is commanded: it is your first work to do after becoming a Believer that you should try to save yourselves from the anger of Allaah Almighty. You should keep yourselves away from wrong deeds due to fear of Allaah Almighty, speak always words of appropriate justice; whatever and whenever you speak. Truth and honesty is attained by them who fear Allaah Almighty and obey the Sayings of His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him). It is called Abstinence. The person, who does not fear Allaah Almighty, cannot be a guide and leader of others.

(Section 8)

Commentary

Saadatun – (chiefs), this word is plural of sayyidun, origin of which is siyaadatun. Siyaadatun means “Power, Government, dominion, rule”.

It is commanded: Those who have been turning their faces away in the world from the prescribed Way of Allaah Almighty, they will be lying in the Fire and turning their sideways on the Day of Resurrection. And they will say there being afflicted: Our Lord, our masters and dignitaries misguided us during our worldly life. Their status was higher than us, so we had to follow them according to their orders. They have drowned our ship, misled and drove us from the Right Path. Our Lord: Give them double punishment. Deprive them entirely from Your Mercy and curse them with a great curse. Destroy them Today as they destroyed us in the world!

Those people should take a warning from this verse; who desire to come forward and become leaders of the Public willingly. Their all such deeds will be useless for them on the Judgment Day. If they have turned the people from Islam, then they should come to know clearly that what will happen with them.

Commentary

The people, who disbelieved, have been warned severely in this verse and they have been threatened from their consequence. To a jaundiced eye; everything is yellow. It has been commanded to open their eyes: There is no doubt in it that Allaah Almighty has thrown them away from good matters who disbelieved in Him. He is angry with them and He has prepared a flaming Fire for them, in which they will be admitted.

Bear in mind! Such a Day is near to come on which their faces will be turned about in the Fire. They will be thunderstruck on that Day and will say: Would that we had obeyed Allaah Almighty and His Messenger (grace, glory blessings and peace be upon him), and had not faced these evil days and had been dwelling in the Garden with ease and comfort.

Indeed, bringing difficulties on oneself for a few days of this worldly temporary life is a great ignorance.
