Lessons 13 to 54 (Surah AL-BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow) - Holy Qur'an (Part - 1)

Following Transliteration in Roman Script & English Translation of Holy Qur’an has been written by Marmaduke Pickthall, Published by Paak Company, 17-Urdu Bazar, Lahore and Paraphrase (Lessons in Urdu) have been taken from Dars e Qur’an published By Idara Islaah wa Tableegh, Lahore (translated by Muhammad Sharif)

LESSON # 13 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
INTRODUCTION OF BAQARAH – 2 (THE COW)
Part  - I

The first Surah ‘Faatihah’ (The Opening) was revealed in Makkah whereas this, the second Surah ‘Baqarah’ (The Cow) revealed in Al-Madinah. This Surah is the longest Surah in Holy Qur’aan. It has 286 verses in 40 sections. Because there is an event of ‘The Cow’ in it so it is named, Baqarah. Matters relating to religious as well as deeds have been taught in it. It is said that Hadrat Umar (Radi ALLAHo Anho) spent many years to understand this Surah. It is not meant to learn by heart, but to learn and understand the orders and instructions mentioned in it. Abstract of its subjects is stated as under:

1.        Holy Qur’aan is guidance for those people who have fear of ALLAH and matter of abstinence is in their hearts.

2       After listening The Holy Qur’aan, three kinds of people will grow as it has been happening in the world at each time of beginning a new series of movements. At first, the believers, who will have full faith in it. Secondly, the infidels who will oppose it and thirdly, the hypocrites, who will show themselves as believers but actually their hearts will refuse it.

3       After all the above, people have been ordered to do worship of only ALLAH and the Truth of Holy Qur’aan has been proven.

4       In the fourth section, Birth of The Prophet Hadrat Adam (Compliments upon Him) has been mentioned including His entitlement of being Caliph on the earth. Then, from fifth section to onward recitation of a big dynasty’s life ‘Israelite’ begins. Hundreds Prophets and Messengers (compliments upon Them) born in this dynasty. ALLAH ALMIGHTY narrated the condition of this dynasty in a lesson taken method and also told about their false movements and badness due to which these people could not be able to remain Viceroy of The CREATOR on earth.

5       From section 5 to 15, many events of Israelite have been stated for example, their promises and agreements, splendor of ALLAH on the Mount Sinai, event of the Day of Saturday, event of The Cow, circumstances of the murder of Prophets (compliments upon Them), impure attempts of enchantment/charm and magic, unfair conduct of disgracing the Prophets (compliments upon Them), wrong faith in rewards and independence on the Day of Judgment.

6       From section-16 to onwards, including more events of Israelite, birth of The Last Prophet Hadrat Muhammad (Peace Be upon Him) in Arab within the generation of Hadrat Adam (Compliments upon Him) has been mentioned. And there is also recitation on The Temple of Makkah (Masjid e Haraam). The degrees of the Martyrs in the ways of ALLAH are mentioned here.

7       In section-20 matters of The Forbidden and lawful, and The Marks of the power of The GOD have been discussed.

LESSON # 14 FROM HOLY QUR’AN

INTRODUCTION OF BAQARAH – 2 (THE COW)
Part  - II

In section 20 of Surah Baqarah we have been commanded by The GOD about actual goodness. After this section, up to section 26, the matters relating inheritance, revenge, blessing, fast, pilgrimage to Makkah, Jehad (to try and strive), sacrifice pertaining to property in the path of GOD have been mentioned including orders and instructions for them.

From section 27 matters regarding family and social life have begun like, marriage, divorce, menstruation, second marriage, bring up and look after the children and favor right of the bride etc.

In section 32 again the matter of trying and striving has been discussed like, Hadrat Saul’s encounter against the Goliath. GOD commanded us that victory or defeat does not depend either on war equipment or decrease and increase of personnel. Usually small number of manpower wins against large armies.

Verse of The Throne  (Aayat ul Kursee), in which many virtues of GOD like, The ALIVE, The PERMANENT etc have been mentioned in section -34. There is no compulsion for anyone to accept Islam because its excellences and proofs are clear.

Recitation regarding Lesson taken events of Hadrat Abraham (Compliments upon Him) is discussed here. Up to section-39 talk about Alms and charity, prohibition to take interest, laws and instructions regarding witness and principles of trade have been mentioned.

At the end of this Surah in section-40 summary of Faith and Islam have been mentioned including a perfect prayer. Last words of this benediction are, “Fan-sur-naa-alal-Qaomil-kaaferiin” (Bestow us excellence over the nation of infidels). It is the result of invitation of Holy Qur’aan that which nation will bring up with the teachings of Holy Qur’aan, law of The GOD will overcome on atheism with her. Result of believers of GOD and infidels has been narrated here that believers will succeed and infidels will fail and subdued, as the end of the Surah is just like beginning.

Please don’t forget it that writing of this abstract means only to show you a concept of its subjects. It is fact that, it is impossible for anyone, to summarize the facts and excellences of the speech of GOD in a few words.

Now we should think and care the orders and instructions of The GOD, mentioned in this Surah. We should understand its philosophies and be ready to act upon these instructions. O GOD! Give us knowledge and power for it.                            .

LESSON # 15 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
AL-BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
ABSOLUTE LETTERS
Verse –1 of 286, Section – 1 (Part 1)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shaytaanir-Rajiim
Bismillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

Alif. Lam. Mim.
‘ALIF-LAAAM-MIIIM.

Lesson

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

Sura Baqarah begins from above three letters. These letters are called “Muqat-ti-‘aat”. I am sorry! I could not find translation of the word “Muqat-ti-aat.” So I translated it as ‘Absolute’ letters. If I am wrong, I pray from the GOD to forgive me. The letters Alif-Laaam-Miiim are written collected but are read separately. The three letters have come in the beginning of five more Suras excluding ‘Baqarah’ (The Cow). Besides these three letters some other letters have also come in the beginning of some different Suras of the Holy Qur’aan. The Suras which begin with this type of letters are twenty nine in numbers.

If we say, what are the meanings of Alif-Laaam-Miiim? Nobody can reply absolutely, because it is Secret out of the Secrets of The GOD. Only ALLAH, HIS Messenger (Peace be upon Him), the companions of the Messenger (Allah agreed upon them) and Scholars of the Muslim nation know its meanings. Different Saints tried to explain it according to their personal manners. For instance:-

Sayyidina ibn ‘Abbas (may the God Almighty be pleased with him) said that the GOD says, “I am ALLAH, Who knows the best.” One saint says, “Alif means ALLAH, who revealed the Holy Book. Laaam means the arch Angel Gabriel (Compliments upon Him), who brought the revelation of ALLAH, and Miiim means The Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) on whom this Holy Book ‘Qur’aan’ was revealed through the Angel Gabriel (Compliments upon Him).

A young Egyptian Scholar Sayyad Nasooh Zahir told after counting and trusting on the alphabetical letters that actually number of verses of the Suras is mentioned in the letters. An other research scholar said that there are historical events with days and years discussed in these letters, which are held in that particular Surah.

Briefly, the knowledge of these letters found by the saints, research scholars and philosophers have been told us. These kinds of letters were already in use in the Arabic language before Islam. To them each person who has knowledge of Arabic knows perfectly. Besides Arabic, this custom of use also exists in other languages like English, Persian, and Urdu etc for example: BA, MA, LLB, UNO, IMF ETC. These instances are very famous but even till some people don’t know them. Only those persons know them, who belong to them or have any interest with them.

GOD gave us chance to learn and understand the Holy Qur’an. It is our duty to try to understand the speech of GOD, act upon it and spread its science, acts and arts nearby and far. Solution of all the Problems of the world over may be found in this speech.

LESSON # 16 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
POSITION OF THE HOLY QUR’AAN
Verse – 2 of 286, Section – 1 (Part  - 1)
This is the Scripture whereof
There is no doubt.
Zaalikal-kitaabu laa rayba fiih

Lesson

Zaalika  - (This). It is used to point out something. Besides Zaalika, some other words are also used to point out something in Arabic language. Usually Zaalika is used to point out the thing far away but due to dignity and greatness of the Holy Qur’aan its meaning is used here as nearby.

Al-kitaabu - Every written thing is called the book. Whenever al comes before a noun, it becomes a particular noun. So which al is used here before kitaab, it makes the book, “a Particular Book” i.e. Holy Qur’aan.

Every person in this world needs to know true principles so that adopting these principles he may get his object. Some people wish to know these types of principles from their sense/wisdom. But it is evident from the experience that the principles come out from anybody’s wisdom; may not be real and sure. Because in different matters people have different opinions. As if, we can’t agree upon a principle collectively, but how many persons will be there, too many advices on any principle will be there.

To curb this tendency our GOD revealed for us the Holy Book with entire kindness, and also commanded that speeches of this Book, “filled with full philosophy” are true and final. There is no doubt in it. Which promises have been made in it, surely they will be completed. And which knowledge has been given in it that will produce true results. If any person has any doubt in any matter, he may know by thinking and considering on the verses of the Holy Qur’aan.

Teaching of the Holy Qur’aan is not far from the wisdom. Mankind is invited to examine the truth of Holy Qur’aan practically. Surely using it they will feel comfort. Who does not know that the Arabian nation had drowned in the darkness of folly? She was backward comparing to other nations. Maximum people were cruel and un-civilized. When this nation acted upon the teachings of Holy Qur’aan, she succeeded in all the matters of life like economics, politics, science, arts, social matters, civilization manners etc. Who were behind all they commanded the all acting upon the Holy Qur’aanic teachings. Each promise of the Holy Qur’aan was complete. But when the people gave up acting upon it, old diseases returned in the nation.

We should promise to act upon these teachings from the beginning whole heartedly. Leave all types of doubts and suspicions and get success in this life and on the Doomsday.

LESSON # 17 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
INTENTION OF HOLY QUR’AAN
Verse – 2 of 286, Section – 1 (Part  - 1)
A guidance unto those who
ward off (evil)
Hudal-lil-Muttaqiin

Lesson

Hudan – Guidance, Path of Knowledge, Equipment for moving on the path, strength and power to reach at the destination. These all things are included in the meanings of ‘Guidance’. We have learnt explanation of it in “The Opening” (Al-Faatihah).

Muttaqiin - Plural of Temperate, Abstinent and Sober, who have fear of GOD in their hearts, who live in abstinence, who does his work with care. One event of Sayyidina Abi bin Ka’ab (Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho) is being written here for explanation of the word of Piety.

Once Sayyidina ‘Umar (Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho) asked from Sayyidina Abi bin Ka’ab (Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho) about meanings of Temperate. He replied, if you pass through a forest which is full of thorns and shrubs, and then what will you do? He answered, “I shall fold up my clothes, so that skirt of my garment may not involve with thorns. Sayyidina Abi bin Ka’ab (Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho) said, “this is the fear of GOD”.

Now it is evident that guidance of the Holy Qur’aan is better for those people who want to reach their destination keeping themselves safe from the thorns of the forest of this world i.e. sins.

There are two types of mankind. Some have fearless temperament. They become so thoughtless that without thinking anything they plunge into each work. Some are those who think before starting any work with care. Now it is revealed that the people who live a careful life, they gain advantage of guidance. These persons, color of piety may be seen into them. Abstinent will reach at the top with the teachings of Holy Qur’aan and following virtues will born into them.

This Book, “The Holy Qur’aan” is revealed for guidance of the entire world. And it is addressing to all the people of the entire world, but practically only those persons will get advantage from this book who seek and need to know the truth. Every work needs some basic elements for starting the work for example, feet to walk, eyes to look, so to get guidance from the Holy Qur’aan fear of GOD is necessary in the hearts. The sun shines on the entire universe. But those persons who have lost their power of sight, for them light is useless. If the earth is salty, rain will prove nothing on it. It is important to bear the piety in our hearts that we should settle our accounts ourselves. Once Sayyidina Umar (Radi-ALLAHO-An-ho) , “prior to this, that anybody calls your account, you should check the account yourself.

LESSON # 18 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
GOOD MANNERS OF SOBERS
(FAITH ON INVISIBLE-1)
Verse – 3 of 286, Section – 1 (Part  - 1)
Who believe in the unseen
‘Allaziina yu’-minuuna bil-Gaybi

Lesson

‘Allaziina - Those people who.

yu’-minuuna - believe, bring faith. Belief means ‘to admit the truth with tongue, have faith in it with heart and devise action according to it. Who becomes a believer, he comes in peace. It is the Belief, which is reliable in the Divine law of religion.

Gaybi - means the world which is higher than this outward world, information about which can only be achieved through the Prophet (Peace be upon Him). For example:

Nature and virtues of GOD, Angels, Paradise and Hell, the Day of Resurrection, accounts of good manners and the evils (sins), rewards and punishment as per acts etc, and Belief in the unseen may not be complete without having faith in the Prophet (Peace be upon Him).

It was told in the previous lesson that Holy Qur’aan is Rule of Guidance for those people who wish to get advantage from it with extremely sincerity and sacred intention, who have ability and excitement to live with care and look after their own. And they have ambition to pass their lives with chastity and cautiousness.

In this verse first attribute of sobers has been mentioned which will come into them with the guidance of the Holy Qur’aan. And that is the thing that they believe in the unseen, the body of which is higher than the outward senses.

Without belief the heart remains restless and unstable, because without its existence doubt, hesitation, whim and suspicion make place in the hearts. But a believer does not frighten in the stress and strain, in the painful calamity and examination. But he gets encourage because he believes that he has a great support and strong trust. And he gains from it happiness of his brain, satisfaction of the heart and comfort of his soul. This faith in world of unseen is brain of religion and soul of belief. Without this faith, belief can not be matured.

We have prepared ourselves to get Guidance from the Holy Qur’aan and joined the people who have fear of The GOD. Now we should produce good manners in ourselves according to the teachings of Holy Qur’aan. We should believe and act on all the facts without hesitation which have been ordered through Holy Qur’aan, which have come to us through the last Messenger (Peace be upon Him).

O Allah! Give us power, resources and strength for it.

LESSON # 19 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
PUNCTUALITY OF PRAYERS-2
Verse – 3 of 286, Section – 1 (Part  - 1)
And establish worship
Wa yuqiimuunas-Salaata

Lesson

Yuqiimuuna - Establish, Set up, Settle (oneself in a position), Place (someone) in a position, Prove the truth of (an event), Cause people to accept (a belief)

as-Salaata - Literal meanings are, “blessing; benediction; prayer”.
Establishing prayer means that the person should offer prayer with entire terms and restrictions as well as bend upon others too to perform this duty. In the phrase of Divine Law of Islam as-Salaata is used for a particular worship that is called Prayer. Name of this worship is kept as-Salaata because maximum part of this worship comprises on blessings. In this worship along with Tongue, Heart and outward parts of Body also ask for blessing.

After belief in the unseen second good manner of the temperate is being mentioned that “they establish worship with punctuality.” Prayer is the best source of leaning in front of GOD, declaring one’s devotion, producing deep connection with ALLAH, and arranging unity and discipline between all persons of the nation. The prayer is the most superior act to all bodily worships. And it is the best method of declaration about belief and Oneness of GOD. An individual has many advantages in it like code of morality, medical and material as well as collectively the nation has social advantages.

All Muslims after being neat and clean stand in a row behind the spiritual guide five times a day facing towards the temple of Makkah. They promise for brotherhood between them and devotion, standing in front of ALLAH. By this worship hearts of all participants who stay collectively in a line become sacred from impurity, envy and selfishness. Mutual friendship, love and equality increases with it. The participants of this collective prayer perceive and help in each other’s trouble and distress etc. The person stops doing sin and shamelessness.

Passion of obey to commander grows by establishing this method of worship. The nation learns the lesson of punctuality and regularity. So in the raising days of Islam success of Muslims was due to their establishment of worship. In famous people who were not under any sovereignty, became a disciplined nation by establishing prayers and proved themselves model of unity.

It is said by The last Prophet (peace be upon Him), “the prayer finds out difference between Muslim and Infidel”. We should see ourselves in the light of the above mentioned Sayings of The Prophet (peace be upon Him) that in which society do we belong to?   In an other Hadiith, The Prophet (peace be upon Him) said that the prayer is ascension of the Believer. He will be un-lucky, who does not want to reach this higher rank.

Prayer is a worship which is useful like in moral, spiritual, individual and collectively matters. Therefore, it is determined pillar of religion.

LESSON # 20 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
SACRIFICE OF THE PROPERTY-3
Verse – 3 of 286, Section – 1 (Part  - 1)
And spend of that We have bestowed upon them
Wa mimmaa razaqnaahum yun-fiquun

Lesson

Razaqnaahum - We have bestowed upon them. These are two words, “We have bestowed” and “upon them”. The word, “razaqnaa” has vast meanings in Arabic Language. All types of favors and blessings come in it desiring either outward as wealth, health, children etc or internal as knowledge, wisdom and understanding etc. In the rewards of GOD, wealth is a great grant. It is evident from this verse that every thing is granted by GOD and which gifts are rewarded to the mankind, those all are bestowed due to HIS kindness.

yun-fiquun – They spend. Third attribute of the persons who have fear of GOD in their hearts is being narrated in this part of the verse. That, whatever GOD has bestowed upon them, they spend out of it in reasonable and needful situations, in just and useful purposes. It is a great sacrifice, to spend wealth for the sake of Allah. There are many people who do only physical worship but do not like to spend any penny. This kind of avarice is dangerous in this world and for the day of resurrection.

Whenever friends, relatives and parents of any person turn to him for help in their needs, he stingy denies, at that time and displeases them. And then difference comes in his business, because they leave co-operation with him. Besides this, when there is no custom for support of needy, orphans and helpless people in the society and expenditure in public welfare, correctness of the national affairs and defense extensions is stopped, and then all people imprison in trouble and resultantly personal wealth becomes over.

On the doomsday it will be the result of frugality that if love of wealth settles down in the heart and at the time of death soul of mankind leaves body, it remains restless a lot in the love of wealth and this unreasonable love appears as snakes, scorpions and Fire in the form of agony. So, Allah has taught the mankind to sacrifice their property for their religious as well as worldly success. And like that, they should spend from His given strengths, abilities and qualifications to serve the humanity.

It is our duty to don’t withdraw from serving the common people with our all struggles, strengths, abilities and wealth, and participate whole heartedly according to our ability. This is the best for nation, country and as well as for each individual.

LESSON # 21 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
FAITH ON HOLY BOOKS-4
Verse – 4a of 286, Section – 1 (Part  - 1)
And who believe in that which
is revealed unto thee
(Muhammad) and that which was revealed before thee,
Wallaziina yu’-minuuna bi-maaa ‘unzila ‘ilayka wa maaa ‘unzila min-qablik.

Lesson

Fourth praise of temperate is mentioned in this verse. Namely these people believe on all heavenly books and revealed written.

As though two speeches have been explained in this verse:

•        To have faith on the teachings and instructions of The Holy Book revealed towards The Messenger (Muhammad) (peace be upon Him) whole heartedly.
•        To believe just the Holy Books revealed upon the prophets came prior to the last Messenger (peace be upon them) from GOD.

Now it is also clear that in the Holy Qur’aan, only the Book revealed on the last Prophet and the Books revealed upon the Prophets prior to the last Prophet (peace be upon them) have been explained. Neither there is mentioned any prophet after the last Messenger (peace be upon Him) and nor any holy book after the Holy Qur’aan. It is known that no prophet will come after the last Prophet, Muhammad (peace be upon Him), although it would have been mentioned here.

The Prophets came prior to Muhammad (peace be upon them), are a lot in numbers. Names from some of them have been mentioned in the Holy Qur’aan, remainings are only hinted. To believe in Prophets (peace be upon Them) means that from Hadrat Adam (Compliments upon Him) to the Last Messenger Hadrat Muhammad (peace be upon Him), as much as Prophets came, all those Prophets (compliments upon Them) were sent by GOD. And they taught the people according to their reign. Out of heavenly Books, four Holy Books have been mentioned in the Holy Qur’aan:

1.        Journals of Hadrat Abraham (Compliments upon Him)
2.        Torah of Hadrat Moses (Compliments upon Him)
3.        Zaboor of Hadrat David (Compliments upon Him)
4.        Gospel of Hadrat Jesus (Compliments upon Him)

Messenger of ALLAH (peace be upon Him) illustrated the series of prophets by a simile of palace and said, “Each Prophet was fitted as a brick of His reign to build this palace. At last Hadrat Christ (Compliments upon Him) came and was fitted as a brick in the palace of prophet-hood. The people came, looked this ‘Building’ and praised but in addition said also that there is a gap of one Brick. Would that the remaining Brick be fitted on its place. I am that ‘last Brick’, now there is no need and space of any brick for this palace of prophet-hood.”

All these Prophets of GOD (peace be upon Them) always presented the truth before their people that LORD of the worlds is only one ‘ALLAH’. Now The Holy Qur’aan orders to its believers that they should believe in all of them. No body can find anywhere this kind of superior example regarding acceptance of tolerance and truth.

LESSON # 22 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
SUCCESSFUL PERSONS
Verse – 4b of 286, Section – 1 (Part  - 1)
And are certain of the Hereafter.
Wa bil-‘Aakhirati hum yuuqinuun.

Lesson

‘Aakhirat – means the second life after death.

Yuuqinuun – (they believe). Believe is the knowledge, the argument to whom has cleared so that any capacity of doubts and suspicions does not remain in it.

This world is the place of actions. It means that this is the life after which period of acts goes to end. The world coming after this life is the place of consequences in which every person will be rewarded or punished according to his each act he did in this world. There is no doubt that we get back rewards in terms of events in this world but sometimes persons are not rewarded or punished as a whole. The persons of Good deeds deprive from getting rewards and evil doer criminals escape from punishment. Still justice demands that any act of any person must not be remained result-less. So God has fixed a day on which every animate will get its reward or punishment in full on each of its act. Hence, to believe on a sustainable future of this world for reward and punishment is important component of a true religion.

It also became clear that this world has strong association with the world hereafter. Second life will be the result of our deeds we do in our present life. So it is sobers’ quality that they get satisfaction before starting any work that the work, they are going to do, is not against the heavenly teachings and instructions of GOD regarding inference and result.

GOD ALMIGHTY has given us full liberty of selection and power of choice for actions. We have many ways to reach the destination. But we have to choose the path for which GOD has guided us. If belief of the end of this world, rewards or punishments according to good or bad acts remains in front of us every time, then it is a sure point that we shall remain firm on the path of truth and temperance. We should mould our lives in the principles of Holy Qur’aan so that we may get much pleasant results out of it and we may succeed in both the worlds. The person who has not belief in liability of his acts, calculation of good and bad deeds and their results, he would not correct his actions.

LESSON # 23 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
SUCCESSFUL PERSONS
Verse – 5 of 286, Section – 1 (Part  - 1)
These depend on guidance from their Lord. These are the successful.
‘Ulaaa-‘ika ‘alaa hudam-mir-Rabbihim wa ‘ulaaa-‘ika humul-Muf-lihuun

Lesson

Al-Muf-lihuun – Those who succeed. This word is built from ‘Falaah’. It means, ‘betterment, deliverance, happiness, prosperity, profit, good.’ But literally ‘Falaah’ means, ‘amputation’. Probably agriculturist or farmer is so called ‘Fallaah’ because he ploughs in the earth, sows seed, which comes out from the earth in the shape of a young plant. In Arabic language this word has vast meanings. All successes of this life and Hereinafter have been mentioned in it collectively. All scholars agree upon this word’s meanings that there is no better word in Arabic language except ‘Falaah’ to declare all kinds of success. He will be called ‘Muflih’ (succeeded), who reaches success after removing all kinds of difficulties and hindrances.

In ‘Surah Faatihah’ (The Opening) we humbly made requests to God for guidance towards the straight path. Replying to that request we received a Message, which we have read in the previous lessons. After that, some emblems have been explained about the persons who achieved guidance:

•        Believe in Omniscient besides this materialistic world
•        Establish worship to disclose their relation practically with God.
•        Spend for the sake of God out of that which He has bestowed upon them
•        Believe in that which revealed upon the Messenger (Muhammad) (peace be upon Him), The Holy Qur’aan, and admit Him as their Spiritual Guide.
•        Admit the Holy Books, Journals and Guidance revealed prior to Holy Qur’aan.
•        Are certain of the Hereafter, rewards and punishment in accord with deeds (of this life).
Now it is mentioned in this verse that these pious persons are actually on guidance of God. “These depend on guidance from their Lord and These are the successful”. It is the betterment of this life that guidance became their fortune and they got a complete and the best rule of life. And they molded their lives according to the custom and succeeded in all respect. Success in the Hereafter means that they will get complete rewards of their deeds.

Before Islam, the Arabians were very poor. Camel-driving was their occupation. They had neither wealth, nor regular Army and nor sufficient quantity of eatables/drinkables. But when they admitted in Islam and acted upon the teachings of Holy Qur’aan whole heartedly, they succeeded in all fields of life. The earth kissed their feet and the sky threw upon them auspiciousness and kindnesses. God gave them all which was promised by Him. Today if we mold our lives according to the teachings of Holy Que’aan, this promise of success is also for us. And we shall succeed too in this life and on the Doomsday.

LESSON # 24 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
INFIDELS
Verse – 6 of 286, Section – 1 (Part  - 1)
As for the disbelievers, whether
thou warn them or thou warn them
not it is all one for them; they
believe not.
‘Innal-laziina kafaruu sawaaa-‘un ‘alay-him ‘a.’anzartahum ‘am lam tunzirhum laa yu’-minuun.

Lesson

Kafaruu – who deny, who refuse, who disagree. In the Divine Law of Religion he is infidel, who opposes and denies the Truth, who does not believe The God and His Messenger (peace be upon Him).

where Allah Almighty has explained the success and ecstasy of  persons who depended on His guidance and succeeded, there it is also necessary to be discussed the result and condition of the infidels so that difference between the two may be cleared and the rank of pious and abstinent persons be enlightened.

From this verse, now it is the beginning of the people who are totally opposite to the Believers, enemies of Islam, spend their energy, wealth and time against Islam. These people resist due to their infidelity in spite of the presence of so clear proofs. Ability to accept The GOD and Truth weakens due to successive opposing and denying, and at last goes to end entirely. In this condition frightening them from agony or not, are equal for The Messenger (peace be upon Him).

Main desire of The Messenger (Peace be upon Him) was admission of all the people in Islamic circle. In this verse the fact has been told to The Messenger (peace be upon Him) that these people have destroyed their power of distinguishing and believing the Just.

“Whether thou warn them or thou warn them not it is all one for
them; they believe not.” It is an announcement and declaration against the result of their chained enmity and refusal. This information is not in the shape of final Decision. Allah Almighty has put the virtue of accepting the Truth in each person. But the people who oppose the Truth due to their personal benefits, short-sightedness, Misleading or bad meeting/society, they waste slowly and gradually their power of accepting the Truth. So it is our duty that with the power of seeking Truth which we have naturally in our hearts; we should remain in search of Just and Truth. We should publicize the teachings of Truth and convey the Message of Truth to the servants of God with wisdom and graceful manner so that fear of God and softness may bear in their hearts. The persons, who have only a little ability to accept the Truth, reach them with possible sources.

LESSON # 25 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
RESULT OF INFIDELITY
Verse – 7 of 286, Section – 1 (Part  - 1)
Allah has sealed their hearts and
their hearing, and on their eyes
there is a covering. Theirs will
be an awful doom.
Khatamallaahu ‘alaa quluu-
bihim wa ‘alaa sam-‘ihim.-
wa ‘alaaa ‘absaarihim gishaawah.
Wa lahum ‘azaabun ‘aziim.

Lesson

Khatama - (Sealed) means the result which grows due to constantly refusal and opposition of the Truth. Purpose to seal anything is, nothing could enter and nothing could go out of it which has been sealed. For example if the heart has been sealed, then neither the Truth can enter into it and nor boldness can remain to declare the good as agreeable talk.

Quluu-bihim - (Their hearts). Heart does not mean a piece of flesh here but it is the will-power which is centre of the wisdom, the sense and the intention.

Sam-‘ihim - (Their hearing), “Sama” means power of hearing, aims their ears.

‘Absaarihim - (Their eyes) (Power of looking)

Ghishaawatun - Covering (to cover, to hide). Here it means covering of negligence over eyes which look signs of the Truth but still resist accepting the facts.

It is a universal law in this world that whenever any power does not bring into work or it is not activated, then at last it leaves its function. Same law is about the powers of looking and understanding, if they are kept un-functional constantly they will leave the function of looking and understanding the Truth.

Sealing the hearts, hearing and covering the eyes of any body by Allah begin, whenever any person intentionally adapts infidelity and persists on it. Every person is given the right nature by Allah and it includes use of thinking power on the signs/marks of God. But whenever mankind misuses his considering powers and devises to follow the Satan changing his side from the teachings of The
Messenger (Peace be upon Him), then he comes out of pity series
of The Prophets (peace be upon Them) and help of God leaves him.
Now he supposes the way of astray as the straight path.

It is evident that as result of eating poison becomes cause of death, just like this changing one’s side from the orders of God intentionally becomes cause of spiritual death. As we have learnt earlier that life of mankind does not go to end after death but there will be also a second life, which will be result of this life. Constantly disobeying in this life will appear in the shape of a big agony as punishment.

LESSON # 26 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Hypocrites’ Claim of Faith
Verse – 8 of 286, Section – 2 (Part  - 1)
And of mankind are some who say: We believe in Allah and the Last Day, when they believe not.
Wa minan-naasi many-ya-quulu ‘aamannaa billaahi wa bil-Yawmil—‘Aakhiri wa maahum bi-mu’-miniin.

Lesson

Till now two kinds of people have been discussed in the Holy Qur’aan:
1.      Obedient believers of the Law of God.
2.      Infidels, who denied the law of God.

Now third kind of persons will be mentioned here. These people are also enemy and opposition of Islam. But they hide their infidelity and enmity by deception which they have in their hearts, and claim faith in Islam. In the phrase of Holy Qur’aan they are called hypocrites. If a person proclaims goodness of Islam by his tongue but hides evil and infidelity in his heart, this is the hypocrisy.

When Islam proclaimed fidelities of belief on Allah and belief on hereafter, it was necessary for him who wanted to become a Muslim, to agree to these both faiths. So out of the people of al-Madina, a special group declared themselves cheatingly about having believed in both faiths and wanted to join Muslims. They were included in Muslims but they were not sincere. It was necessary to escape from their deceit. So Holy Qur’aan informed the Muslims itself that they didn’t believe in these fidelities by heart. Therefore, Muslims should be cautious from these people.

It seems that sign of hypocrite was claiming their faith in these fidelities by their tongue, but their hearts didn’t agree. If, today too, someone hasn’t same outward appearance and inward qualities, then he should calculate himself. As long the tongue and the heart are not alike, belief doesn’t produce, but this condition is of the hypocrisy.

Companions of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon Him) calculated themselves always besides their nobility and excellence. That is why they were on higher degrees of belief and sincerity. Allah Almighty bestowed them higher ranks and favoured them with successes.

When Holy Prophet (peace be upon Him) migrated from Makkah to al-Madina, the people were preparing to make ‘Abdullah bin Ubai bin Salool’, a person of tribe ‘Khizraj’, as chief of the city. He was a clever and collusive person. On migration of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon Him), matter of crown-wearing ceremony was suspended. Every one wanted to make the Holy Prophet (peace be upon Him) the chief of al-Madina.

Abdullah looked it but remained silent. He thought it advisability not to raise sound against Islam and Holy Prophet (peace be upon Him). So he became Muslim and his companions also. But they were waiting for occasion to leave Islam and opposing the Holy Prophet (peace be upon Him).
As the time was passing on, the effect of Islam was increasing. And jealousy of these people was also increasing. Their enmity was increasing too. So whenever they got chance they opposed Islam and deceived the Holy Prophet (peace be upon Him). They proved themselves domestic enemies. Although they said prayers following the Holy Prophet (peace be upon Him) but opposed Islam. They built their separate mosque. Allah Almighty called that mosque “Masjid-i-Zrar”. They left the Muslims in the Battle of ‘Ohad’ at the time of encounter.

Today also Islam has the greatest danger from that kind of Muslims. It means the people who apparently say the word “Islam”, choose their names like Muslims, live with Muslims. But they have infidelity in their hearts and for opposing the Muslims they get help from infidels.

LESSON # 27 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Deceit of the Hypocrites
Verse – 9 of 286, Section – 2 (Part  - 1)
They think to beguile Allah and
those who believe, and they beguile none save themselves; but they perceive not.
Yukhaadi-‘uunallaha wal-laziina ‘aamanuu. Wa maa yakhda-‘uuna ‘illaaa ‘anfusa-hum wa maa yash-‘uruun.

Lesson

Yukhaadi-‘uuna - (They deceive, beguile). It means to hide the evil thought in the heart and to show oneself a good fellow so that the other person may be deceived and keep him in delusion.

‘Anfusa-hum (Their bodies, spirits, souls)

Wa maa yash-‘uruun. (They do not understand). This word is built from Sha’uur, according to Arabic language it means to understand, to guess. Here it aims internal perception. Intention is that they are fallen in self-delusion. But they do not know their folly.

In the last lesson it was told about hypocrites that what they say with their tongues, their hearts do not accept, and what they keep in their hearts, they do not bring that on their tongue. They say themselves ‘Muslim’ to get favour and advantage from the Muslims or to escape themselves from their hold. In addition, it has been enlightened their form of this act in this lesson. They are committed in the crimes of deceit and cheat besides the infidelity. Their courage has been so increased opposing the Truth that according to their thoughts they are deceiving The God too. In the days of The last Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon Him) they joined and attended the Muslim conferences and consultations, reinstated their confidence with Muslims and kept conspiracy with infidels secretly, told them the matters of Muslims and in the shape of friends stabbed in the backs of Believers.

This act of Hypocrites is censurable particularly that they try to deceive the Believers. Keep someone in delusion and misleading becomes their religion. Not only the Believers, have they thought that they will succeed to deceive The God Almighty also. How much they are senseless, that the creature thinks to deceive his Creator. So Allah Almighty says in His Holy Book, Al-Qur’aan, that they do not understand, that has not decency of the Truth. They suppose the senselessness as intelligence and wisdom as folly.

LESSON # 28 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Ailment of the Hypocrites
Verse – 10 of 286, Section – 2 (Part  - 1)
In their hearts is a disease, and
Allah Increaseth their disease.
A painful doom is theirs because they lie.
Fii quluubihim-marazun, fazaada-humullaahu marazaa Wa lahum      ‘azaabun ‘aliimum, bimaa kaanu yakzibuun.

Lesson

Marazun – Disease. There are two kinds of diseases, bodily and spiritual. The bodily disease produces fault, defect or pain in the body. Spiritual disease enrages the manners and the spirit gets ailment. Here it is the talk about spiritual diseases of infidelity and hypocrisy which stop the human being from doing good deeds and preparing for the next life (after death). Here meanings of diseases are ailments of the spirit which prevents to achieve the excellences. For instance ignorance, jealousy, ill-will, love of property & wealth and telling a lie etc.

Fa – (So) this particle indicates towards the talk about result and fruit of above mentioned diseases.

Zaada – (Increased) means God increased their jealousy giving more victories and promotions to the Messenger (peace be upon Him) and the Muslims. The disease of enmity with Islam and jealousy with Muslims increased more in their hearts.

‘Azaabun ‘aliim – (Painful Doom/agony), they will be punished with a painful agony on the doomsday.

Yakzibuun – (They tell a lie).

In this verse the manners of Hypocrites are being enlightened more. They have ailment of infidelity and hypocrisy in their hearts which they have grown themselves. As the Muslims get promotions and victories, jealousy and ill-will increases in their hearts.

Fazaada-humullaahu marazaa - (so Allah Increaseth their disease). It doesn’t mean that God Almighty has increased their infidelity and hypocrisy Himself, but it means that due to the result of their infidelity and hypocrisy Allah Almighty has increased their ailment. Due to their this manner the circumstances so changed, from which they took increase in their disease. If they had to use their sense just, they had to get guidance from these circumstances. As the result of disease lessens the bodily strength, like this the result of spiritual disease will be in the shape of Painful Agony on the Doomsday.

LESSON # 29 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Mischievous Cleverness of Hypocrites
Verse – 11 & 12 of 286, Section – 2 (Part  - 1)
11. And when it is said unto
them: Make not mischief in the earth, they say: We are peace-makers only.
12. Beware! They indeed are
the mischief-makers, but
they perceive not.
11. Wa ‘izaa qiila lahum laa tuf-siduu fil-‘arzi, qaaluuu ‘in-namaa nahnu muslihuun

12. ‘Alaaa ‘innahum humul-mufsi-duuna walaakil-laa yash-‘uruun.

Lesson

Laa tuf-siduu – (Make not mischief), this word came out from the word Fasaad - (Quarrel; riot; disturbance; rebellion; war; sedition; mutiny). Here the meanings of “Make not mischief” are the sins which interrupt in the system. When these circumstances become usual, these interrupt in the peace of world and system of universe. Fasaad is a big crime according to the teachings of Islam.

Muslihuun – (Peace-makers). This word has come out from Salaah which is opposite to Fasaad. With ‘Fasaad’ the system is damaged and with ‘Salaah’ the system is corrected.

Another most mischievous cleverness of the Hypocrites is being mentioned in this verse. To remain on the bad manners and preaching for it is a big crime in the Divine’s Law and the Hypocrites did it. Now they have started spreading Fasaad also including creation of mismanagement. Behind the screen conspiracy and showing themselves as friends; enmity became their habituated. Heart disease overcame on the Hypocrites so much that they forgot to distinguish between good and bad. Whenever they are instructed not to make mischief with this mode of their acts in the country, they say, “We are peace-makers only. But indeed they are mischief-makers. How it is a big mischief that Infidels get supposing due to their hypocrisy, “there is no excellence/beauty in Islam because being Muslims these people are still involved in the sins.” On the other hand they tempt deceiving the Muslims. They claim themselves as Muslims but have not fear of God in their hearts. Due to their behaviour, there is a risk that others will also forget the Fear.

It is found now that good behaviour grows between the people with the Truth, which becomes cause of peace-making in the world. And hypocrisy interrupts in the management of the world. When a person reaches at this stage and does not understand his weakness, ruin seizes him. His wisdom and internal perception ends.

LESSON # 30 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Folly of Hypocrites
Verse – 13 of 286, Section – 2 (Part  - 1)
And when it is said unto them:
Believe as the people believe, they say: shall we believe as the foolish believe? Beware! They indeed are the foolish but they know not.
Wa ‘izaa qiila lahum ‘aa-minuu kamaaa ‘aamanan-naasu qaaluuu ‘a-nu’-minu kamaaa’aa-manas-sufahaaa’. Alaaa ‘innahum hu-mu-sufahaaa-‘u wa laakil-laa ya’-lamuun.

Lesson

An-naas - (The people), The particular people who believe and do not deceive anyone in the matter of faith.

As-sufahaaa’ -  (The foolish), The people who are known as foolish, stupid, silly or nonsense.

Another habit of the Hypocrites is being discussed in this verse. When they are addressed, “Believe! As the true Muslims believe whole heartedly with purity and sincerity” they reply, “shall we believe as the foolish believe? As it were the Believers are foolish according to their opinion. Near to the Hypocrites, the Muslims want to excel the Truth over a great majority of the infidelity which is entirely impossible. These Hypocrites of Madina were very proud due to their power and strength. They had faith that the poor, strangers and refugee Muslims would not be able to stay against them. They thought that Islam is a game for a few days which will be over automatically. So the people, who are entering into it, are indolent from its end and careless from their benefits.

Reply to their so saying Allah Almighty commands, “Beware! They indeed are the foolish but they know not”, because the Truth however will overcome. And the deceiver hypocrites will lose forever.

It is known at last, that the Hypocrites do not believe in the day of Resurrection. So there is much need of providence to believe in the Day of Resurrection. Some quantity of the pleasure of this world would have to be left for the ease of the second life, which will begin immediately after death, believing in the Doomsday. Hypocrites do not think about the End. They remain careless from the gain and loss which will be forever. So they are the foolish and blockhead.

 LESSON # 31 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Mocking of Hypocrites
Verse – 14 & 15 of 286, Section – 2 (Part  - 1)
14. And when they fall in with those who believe, they say: We believe; and when they go apart to their devils they declare: Lo! We are with you; verily we did but mock.

15. Allah (Himself) doth mock them, leaving them to wander blindly on in their contumacy.
14. Wa ‘izaa laqul-laziina ‘aamanuu qaaluu ‘aamannaa. Wa ‘izaa khalaw ‘ilaa shayaatiini-him, qaaluu ‘innaa ma—‘akum, ‘innamaa nahnu mus-tahzi-‘uun.

15. ‘Allaahu yas-tahzi-‘u bi-him wa yamuddu-hum fii tug-yaanihim ya’-mahuun.

Lesson

Shayaatiini-him – (Their devils), The word ‘Shaitaan’ has vast meanings in Arabic language. Mischievous and contumacious are also called devils. It is applied on the human beings and demons (ghosts) who have the nature of devils. In this verse ‘Shayaatiini-him’ means the Leaders of the Hypocrites who had become devils due to their mischief and contumacy.

Mus-tahzi-‘uun – (We mock), ridicule by imitating.

Tug-yaanihim – (in their contumacies)

Ya’-mahuun – (wandering blindly). Here it means the condition of a person in which he may not see the straight path and wanders hither and thither blindly. Another stubbornness of the Hypocrites is mentioned here that they being two faced deceived the people. When they met the Muslims, deceiving
them and winning their favour said, “ We also believed”. But when they went near their leaders in solitude, said: “We are with you, we deceive the Muslims. They are follies and simpletons. They tell their secrets considering us true and inform about their intentions and plans.”

Replying them Allah Almighty turned their mock back to them.
Following proverb may be applied here, “As you sow, so shall you reap”.God Almighty has left them on so much in the worst condition that they are wandering blindly in their contumacies and struggling in the dark without Light of the Holy Qur’aan.

LESSON # 32 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Astray and Loser
Verse – 16 of 286, Section – 2 (Part  - 1)
These are they who purchase
error at the price of guidance, so
their commerce doth not prosper,
neither are they guided.
‘Ulaaa-‘ikallazii-nashtara-wuz-zalaalata bilhudaa: famaa rabihat-tijaaratuhum ‘wa ‘maa kaanuu muhtadiin.

Lesson

Ishtara-wu – (They purchase) to get exchange with the other. This
word is used  for the both ‘buy’ and ‘sell’. Hypocrites have power of choice to accept the Belief. But they choose the way of infidelity and hypocrisy.

Maa rabihat – (Do not prosper).

Result of hypocrisy is stated in this lesson that these people go astray leaving the path of guidance. It means that the hypocrites extinguish the Light of humanity due to which every person can get comfort of Eternal Life and goodness. The guidance they had to get, forgot it and grew in themselves bad habits and evil manners. They thought themselves that they had tried to strike a good bargain. Saying oneness of God from their mouths, keeping infidelity in their hearts and being glad on these deeds, how a good wonderful bargaining?

God Almighty commands that they are losers in this bargaining. They achieved casual and sensual, destroyable advantages spending their entire life. If they would have achieved the comfort of their Eternal Lives was spending their casual lives and wealth in the way of God Almighty, which was a good bargaining. But they have destroyed also their real capital.

This depravity and loss of hypocrites is the result of their deeds which have been discussed in the previous verses (lessons).

LESSON # 33 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
First Likeness Of The Hypocrites
Verse – 17 of 286, Section – 2 (Part  - 1)
17.   Their likeness is as the likeness of one who kindleth fire, and when it sheddeth its light around him Allah taketh away their light and leaveth them in darkness, where they cannot see.
17.   Masaluhum kamasa-lillazistawqada naaraa. Falammaaa ‘azaaa-’at maa hawlahuu zahaballaahu bi-nuurihim wa tarakahum fii zulumaatil-laa yubsiruun.

Lesson

Masaluhum – (Their likeness). Likeness means an old famous event
which corresponds to any present event and due to its fame the people may understand it quickly and it becomes helpful also for explanation of the present event.

Zulumaat – (Plural of darkness).

In the years of Holy Prophet (Peace be upon Him) there were two
kinds of Hypocrites:

 1.   Those, who were the vital enemies of Islam, but they claimed to be the sympathizers and friends of the Muslims with their tongues.

2.   Those Hypocrites who were weak due to their temperament and were neither supporters, nor they opposed Islam. In which side they found their advantage, they put themselves to that side.

These two types of hypocrites are explained in the Holy Quran. In this verse example of first type of hypocrites is being explained.

Example of these people is like a man who lit the fire in the darkness.
From the light of fire all things around him became bright and he became capable to recognize the difference between profitable and harmful things. But suddenly God snatched his eye-sight. Now he could not see anything while surroundings of him were bright. Just like blinds he is wandering hither and thither and can not get advantages of the Brightness.

This example proves fit for the Hypocrites. Before Islam they were
Surrounding in the darkness of infidelity, there was no distinction between good end evil for them. Then candle of Islam was enlightened and they started getting advantages from it, but suddenly all opportunities which they were availing due to Islam, were snatched. Their original face came in front of Muslims. And they did not remain capable to deceive the Muslims. Some of them leaned towards evil leaving the Truth and some were forfeited to get advantage from the Light of Islam due to their personal means. The light of Islam became useless for them in these three conditions and darkness spread everywhere.

LESSON # 34 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Outcome Of The Hypocrites
Verse – 18 of 286, Section – 2 (Part  - 1)
18.    Deaf, dumb and blind,
and they return not.
18.   Summum- bukmun ‘umyun fahum laa yarji-‘uun.

Lesson

Summun – (Deaf; hard of hearing; inattentive). Although the Hypocrites apparently were not deaf but they were called deaf because they did not listen true advices of Islam and rejected them. They listened and showed that they had not listened as if they were deaf and did not listen.

Bukmun – (Dumb; speechless; mute). Even they had tongues but turned away asking the true advices and did not accept the Truth as though they were dumb and had not tongue in their mouths.

Umyun -    (Blind; unable to see) (plural of Aa’ma). It means blind persons. They were called blind because having their eye-sights they had seen the signs of Allah but didn’t accept.

In this verse outcome of deeds of the hypocrites is being explained.
As after appearing the light of Islam they still adopted the darkness of infidelity. Due to worldly advantages, personal means and carnal desires they didn’t distinguish between good and bad. As according to the natural rule, if the hand is put in fire it burns, similarly because of their perversity and intentionally depravity, their all forces of recognizing the Truth were lost.  Infidelity came over them. They lost the Light of Islam. Allah plundered their Light because of their evil deeds and they went astray in darkness.

It was the result of not distinguishing between good and bad that having ears they could not listen to the sounds of Truth. Their tongues became dumb due to not asking the right path from anyone. Their eyes became blind due to not seeing the light of Islam. And signs of Allah didn’t affect them.

Openly there are three ways to get knowledge: ear, tongue and eye. Sometime a man gets knowledge by listening, Sometime by asking from someone and sometimes by looking other things by his eyes. But a hypocrite loses his all these three powers due to his revengefulness and haughtiness. And now neither he listens to the sound of any guide, nor asks true knowledge and nor gets any affect seeing signs of the Truth. And now there is no hope of his returning from infidelity to Islam or from darkness to light.

LESSON # 35 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Second Likeness of Hypocrites
Verse – 19a of 286, Section – 2 (Part  - 1)
19. Or like a rainstorm from the sky, wherein is darkness, thunder and the flash of lightning. They thrust their fingers in their ears by reason of the thunder-claps, for fear of death.
19. ‘Aw kasayyi-bim-minas-samaaa-‘i fiihi zulumaatunw- wa ra’-dunw- wa barq. Yaj-‘aluuna ’asaabi-‘ahum fiii ‘aa-zaani-him- minas-sawaa-‘iqi ha-zaral-mawt.

Lesson

Kasayyi-bin – (Like a rainstorm). Heavy rains.

As-samaaa-i – (The skies). It means exaltations. Every lofty thing which may be either clouds or skies will come in it.

As you have read in a previous lesson that there were two types of hypocrites, first type of the people who were severe enemies of Islam by heart but they claimed as Muslims apparently.

In this verse second type of hypocrites is being explained. They neither enter in Islam whole heartedly nor leave it due to their weak temperament. But they remain immersed in doubt and perplexity, and can’t make final decision. Likeness of these types of hypocrites is given with heavy rains. There are a lot of benefits in it, barren land becomes fertile, crops move about, canals and streamlets begin to flow. But along with it thunder of clouds which get tremble the hearts and flash of lightening which causes to be dazzled the eyes begins. Very dark darkness spreads over every thing. But still none is enemy of the rains although these happenings.

Islam came with blessing like rains but there are also some difficulties and punctuality with it like prayers, fasting, alms (zakaat), pilgrimage, try and strive and other restrictions/orders of Allah Almighty. The Hypocrites neglect and fear from these restrictions.
Whenever these people saw advantages of Islam, they ran towards it but when the time came to sacrifice, they kept back. Would that these people might have left their doubts, got one way and passed their lives for Islam.

LESSON # 36 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Powerlessness of The Hypocrites
Verse – 19b of 286, Section – 2 (Part  - 1)
And Allah encompasseth the disbelievers (in His guidance).
Wallaahu muhiitum-bil-kaafiriin.

Lesson

Muhiitun – (Encompassed, circumscribed). Here it means that God has circumscribed them with His Knowledge, His Nature and His Divinity.

As the both types of Hypocrites have been discussed earlier:

1.   Those people who are eternal enemies of Islam by their hearts but they say themselves ‘believers’ and claim to be patrons of the Muslims.

2.   The people who are naturally weak by temperament, cowardice and un- ambitious. They accept impression of that assembly which they attend. If they sit with Muslims, listen their preaching and invitation, look their dignity and success then being terrified enter into Islam. But when they lie down in any trial or difficulty then they return towards infidelity. They are afraid of labour and death.

At the end of this verse that Allah Almighty is howsoever encompassing these Hypocrites, they run away from Islam only for the sake of saving themselves from labour and death. But God Almighty has complete power and dignity upon them. So how can they protect themselves from death? Islam claims that they should leave carnal deliciousness and false passions. They should offer their wealth and lives in the path of God. They should bear difficulties and calamities.

They do not want to hear the verses of Agony and anguish. And go away being very inattentively but they can not escape from the Hold of God. Try to protect themselves from seizure of Sole Commander is only folly and proof of stupidity. God gives them only delay and produces the opportunities to understand. When their length of time will end then any power of the world and their any best friend will not be able to save them from fury of God. He knows their all activities including the secrets which they have hidden in their chests and He has containing Divinity over them. He has power to punish anyone, any time as He wishes.

As thunder-bolt, glaze and thunder of lightening be in rain, like this hardness, labour, poverty and difficulties exist in Islam for trial but resultantly they succeed in both the worlds i.e. this life and on the Day of Resurrection. So mankind should not run away from Islam due to fear of these calamities, moreover he should stand firm on it. If a mankind wishes to run away from the calamities he can not escape from Allah Almighty.

LESSON # 37 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Perplexity of Hypocrites & Their Threat
Verse – 20 of 286, Section – 2 (Part  - 1)
The lightening almost snatched away their sight from them. As often as it flasheth forth for them they walk therein, and when it darkneth against them they stand still. If Allah willed, He could destroy their hearing and their sight. Lo! Allah is able to do all things.
Yakaadul-barqu yakhtafu ‘absaarahum. Kullammaaa ‘azaaa-‘a lahum- mashaw fiihi, wa ‘izaaa ‘azlama ‘alayhim qaamuu. Wa law shaaa-‘al-laahu  lazahaba bisam-‘ihim wa’absaarihim ‘Innallaaha ‘alaa kulli shay-‘in- qadiir.

Lesson

Yakhtafu – (Snatch, put out the hand suddenly and take away). Here it means ‘to be dazzled of eyes’. Overcoming, power and magnificence of Islam are sufficient to snatch their eyes and inspire with awe over their hearts.

Condition of the second kind of Hypocrites is being discussed in this verse with more explanation and detail. In the previous verse instance of ‘the rain’ was given to disclose their nature that they pounce towards their advantages. But if they would have to do some labour or bear some loss then they get rid of the situation.

The rain becomes cause of many advantages for the mankind. But when they look thunder-bolt and glare in it, they cram their fingers into their ears and try to escape from it and deny from advantages of the rain. They do not understand that if someone has to sacrifice something and he has to be overtaken in some trial for the cause of betterment and prosperity, he should not fear from it.

This fact enlightens from it that comfort and calamity exist collected always. If we sacrifice our lives, wealth and children on the way of Allah then surely success and betterment will become our fortune as the reward of sacrifice. This behaviour is not right at all that we run behind our advantages but when the time comes for our trial, we keep ourselves back. Allah Almighty does not like this.

Explanation regarding Hypocrites was begun in the beginning of this section which has been ended here. God Almighty gave the powers of hearing and looking to the mankind. But the Hypocrites applied these powers to get casual advantages and to complete sensual wishes. They closed their ears and eyes completely from looking and hearing the signs of God. They misused these powers instead of using them for the right purpose.

Now God Almighty warns them that if they will not leave this behaviour, these powers will be snatched from them. Although they close their eyes from looking the glare of lightening due to the fear of death because their eyes are dazzled, they cram their fingers into their ears and try to escape from listening thunder-bolt of lightening and death. God may snatch their eye-sight and hearing power at any time wishing they how much try to save themselves.

God blessed the mankind all powers of thinking, hearing and looking but whenever he does not use them according to the Divine Law, he should have feared every time that Allah Almighty some where may not snatch. If He delays in snatching for some time, the mankind should not be fearless because punishment may be delayed by Him. It is possible that He has delayed intentionally or it is due to His kindness.

A person has eyes and ears but till without the will and mood of God both things can not become able to work. He can forfeit the man from using powers of the organs, if He wishes. Having eyes he may not look, having ears he may not hear and it is not impossible from His Divinity. He has established rules, time and causes for management of this world. He can finish at once all the infidels, hypocrites and deniers but due to established customs they get delay so that they abstain. Despite of it if they do not shun, His calamity thus comes upon them that as they have not ever thought. So this result existed in the cases of mostly Hypocrites.

LESSON # 38 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Claim of Worship & Prohibition from Plurality
Verse – 21 & 22 of 286, Section – 3 (Part  - 1)
21.  O mankind! Worship your Lord, Who hath created you and those before you, so that ye may ward off (evil).

 22.  Who hath appointed the earth a resting-place for you, and the sky a canopy; and causeth water to pour down from the sky, thereby producing fruits as food for you. And do not set up rivals to Allah when ye know (better).
21. Yaaa-‘ayyu-han-naasu’-buduu Rabba-kumullazii, khalaqa-kum wallaziina min, qablikum la-‘allakum tattaquun.
22.  ‘Allazii ja-‘ala lakumul-‘arza firaa-shanw- was-samaaa-‘a binaaa’aa Wa ‘anzala minas-samaaa-‘i maaa-‘an- fa-‘akh-raja bihii minas-sama-raati rizqal-lakum. Falaa taj-‘aluu  lil-laahi ‘andaadanw-wa ‘antum ta’-lamuun.

Lesson

Tattaquun - You may ward off (evil). Your habit of living with care and having fear of God in your hearts may become strong. It is called abstinence.

An-naasu – Mankind, people. It is the first time in Holy Qur’aan (in this verse) that God Almighty has claimed and addressed the people with the words ‘O mankind! As if He has claimed from all the mankind to worship Him.

U’-buduu – Worship, pray. It’s mean to obey the Orders of God with humility and respectfully which is called worship and obedience. Prayer, Fasting, Zakaat (Alms), and Pilgrimage are vital parts of worship but worship does not end on only these parts. Also it belongs to entire life.

In the beginning of this Surah good manners of temperate were explained and were told that guidance is for those people who have fear of God in their hearts. After the explanation of Sobers, condition of Infidels was discussed and then remarks on Hypocrites were cleared. Now all the Human Beings are addressed because after the mention of above three types of mankind, fondness to become a Sober really should have been grown in the person. So root path of having fear of God is now being cleared.

Here calling all the people it has been told that real foundation of all the Orders and Fidelities of Islam is to recognize the Lord. First cause to bear the mankind is that he should seek his Lord, he should recognize Him from His open signs, he should worship only Him and ask Him for success in this world and on the Day of Resurrection because He created the mankind, He brought up His creature in each time and taught the human being the ways of promotion according to their abilities. The first sign of the Lord is that He created to you and all of them who have expired before you. Only from this acquaintance the path of fearing from God opens. God has no personal advantage on worshipping Him. But the mankind has a lot of advantages from it. Worship removes distress of fancies of the human being. And he gets opportunity to engage the attention towards realities.

Firaa-shan - Resting-place. God has appointed the earth as our resting-place because He is the Creator of all the creatures.

‘Andaadan – Rivals, partners, co-sharers, confederates. Allah Almighty is alone. There is none His plural or partner, so the mankind should not set up rivals to Him.

In this verse it is stated that the virtue of God to create works in the earth or mother’s womb and the person can not see it. So other virtues which are open are explained so that every person younger or older may think about it.

To keep in existence the mankind, produce causes for its existence and to carry the life of mankind to its last stage gradually, is only in the powers of his Lord ‘God Almighty’. Here it is told that He is Lord of the mankind and He has collected all sources to keep him in existence after his birth. In this connection following things come in front of us for meditation:-

1.   The earth on which we live and move, it is the resting place spread by God.
2.   The sky which has been put over the heads of mankind by the God like canopy of tent and which is the best source of light.
3.   For arrangement of food and water for daily use of mankind, produces fruits of different colors by showering down the rains from skies, which the mankind eats and drinks water. So it is proved that the mankind is indigent of the Lord to remain alive.

So he should understand the Worshipped to that Lord. It is also told in this verse that the Lord Who has all these virtues, His name is Allah Almighty. The mankind should not make any partner or co-sharer of Allah. In this verse the God after admonishing and telling the mankind His blessings and pities ordered to Worship Him and also made him to understand the acquaintance of Him, so that to worship Him after knowing Him. Without acquaintance the worshipper can not get the fear of God in his heart.

LESSON # 39 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Claim of Truth and Challenge of Holy Qur-‘an
Verse – 23 of 286, Section – 3 (Part  - 1)
And if ye are in doubt concerning
that which We have revealed unto
Our slave  (Muhammad), then
produce a Surah of the like thereof , and call your witnesses beside Allah if ye are   truthful.
Wa ‘in- kuntum fii ray-bim-mimmaa nazzal-naa ‘alaa ‘Abdinaa fa’-tuu bi-Suuratim-mim, mis-lih. Wad-‘uu shuha-daaa- ‘akum- min- duunillaahi ‘in- kuntum saadi-qiin.

Lesson

Nazzal-naa – We revealed. The Speech (Holy Qur’aan) was revealed on Muhammad ‘the Last Prophet’ (peace be upon Him) from Allah Almighty through Gabriel Angel (compliments on Him).

Mis-lihii – Like this. In this word it is pointed out towards both the excellent meanings of Holy Qur’aan, ‘literal’ as well as ‘significant’. Dictation is so easy that every body can understand easily. Intention is discussed beautifully, entire and complete. Second large excellence of the Holy Qur’aan is that every person ‘male’ and ‘female’ have been taught the method of living. If the person moves on this true path he/she will get success in this world and on the Day of Resurrection. If any infidel is in doubt that this is not the Speech of God, it is only a talk of any person then he should try to bring any one surah like this which has both the excellences as mentioned above. If not so then he should accept that the Holy Qur’aan is speech of God. And no body can make any book like this without any doubt, if someone wishes, he may include the entire world in this work he is free.

Shuha-daaa- ‘akum – Your witnesses. Call the people to witness your claim that you have written the answer of this Surah and they verify you.

In the previous verses Allah Almighty told that He is the Creator of all the human beings and sets up them. So He is the Worshipped only. It was necessary to prove the prophet-hood of the Messenger (Peace be upon Him) so that it might be clear to the human beings that the Holy Qur’aan which was bestowed to the Messenger is Speech of God. Due to this reason after the announcement of Oneness of God, invitation for acceptance of prophet-hood was given. And it was told the people that if they had doubt in the truth of Prophet, and they presume that the Holy Qur’aan is not the speech of God (we seek shelter of Allah) then they produce and show any speech like this. All the nations and their scholars tried to do so but they could neither do so and nor they would be able to do so.

Holy Qur’aan is proof of truth itself. It is the claim of Holy Qur’aan that if any body does not accept it as the Speech of God, he should produce any speech like this.

God commanded in one verse of Holy Qur’aan, “prepare and produce ten surahs like Holy Qur’aan”. On other place, “Bring only three like this”, and in this Surah, “if not, produce at least one Surah like this. You can call and collect your all friends to try, but it is the only condition that your speech would have all those excellences which are held in the Speech of God and your speech would affect the life of human being like the Surahs of Holy Qur’aan”.

Before Islam the Arab nation kept back from other nations in many matters. Morally she had lost essence of humanity. Socially and economically they were at the stage of limitless low. Politically they had not wisdom entirely. They were plain from the conception of religion. Really they were brave but due to ignorance and bigotry they became idiots and oppressors.

God Almighty revealed this Speech on the last Messenger (Peace be upon Him) and with its source this nation became spiritual guide of the entire world. The Messenger (Peace be upon Him) did not remain ever pupil of any teacher out of human beings. He (Peace be upon Him) did not know reading and writing absolutely. He (Peace be upon Him) did not has information regarding any outer part of the world. The people of His (Peace be upon Him) country were illiterate and they were proud of being illiterates.

With the Speech of God the Illiterate Prophet (Peace be upon Him) carried His illiterate and ignorant nation on the steps of improvement and perfection that there is no comparison in the history of world. These Arabian became guides of the nations of world in morality, spiritualism, sociology, economics, politics, sovereignty, religion, means every part of life.

In the history of one thousand four hundred years of Islam any scholar or learned could not accept this challenge of Holy Qur’aan. Ibn maqna’ tried boundless in the era of Caliph Haroon Rasheed and after him, before some centuries the scholars and writers of Lebanon but they could not write the answer of seven verses of “The Opening” (Surah al-Faatihah).

LESSON # 40 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Helplessness of Adversary & Glad for Orthodox
Verse – 24 & 25a of 286, Section – 3 (Part  - 1)
24.  And if ye do it not and ye can never do it, then guard yourself against the Fire prepared for disbelievers whose fuel is of men and stones.

25.  And give glad tidings (O Muhammad) unto those who believe and do good works that theirs are Gardens underneath which rivers flow.
24.  Fa-‘illam- taf-‘aluu wa lan-taf-‘aluu fattaqun-Naarallatii wa-quudu-han-naasu wal-hijaa-ratu ‘u-‘iddat lil-Kaafiriin.

25.  Wa bashshi-rillaziina ‘aa-manuu wa ‘amilus-Saali-haati ‘anna lahum jannaatin- tajrii min-tahtihal-‘anhaar.

Lesson

Wa-quudu-han-naasu wal-hijaa-ratu – Its fuel is of men and stones. It is earmarked towards Fire of the Hell which will be much vigorous. It will also burn the stones in addition to the human beings. As though the Idols of stones will also become fuel of it, may it be that hint of Al-Hijaa-ratu is towards stony or hard-hearted human-beings.

In the previous lesson the adversary people were invited for competition with Holy Qur’aan. Now they are being told, “if you are unable to compete and we say that you shall not be able, then now it is clear that it is the Speech of God”. And it is evident that the Messenger (Muhammad) (Peace be upon Him) is the True Prophet. Now if you do not have faith on Prophet-hood of ‘Muhammad’ (Peace be upon Him) and do not act upon the commands of Holy Qur’aan, it shall be the Base of Hell’s Agony. So you should arrange to escape from it because the Fire of Hell is not the normal fire. But that is the Fire of which men and stones will become its fuel. And this Fire is prepared for them who contradict the commands of Islam, Prophet-hood of Muhammad (peace be upon Him), Truth of the Divine percepts of Islam and purity of Holy Qur’aan.
Some more talks have also been cleared from this verse:
1.   The matter in which enemies of Islam particularly “the Quresh” claimed, “purity of the words and admonish the meanings easily”, made them humble in it and it was proved that this Speech was of the God.
2.   The false gods which the people have adopted instead of the One God (Allah Almighty) and pray them for boons, those all were refuted.
3.  Punishment of infidelity was fixed the Hell.

We should not have any doubt in Truth of the Holy Qur’aan, purity of Islam, truth and honesty of the Messenger ‘Muhammad’ (Peace be upon Him) because if all the mankind try collectively to write any one small surah like Surahs of the Holy Qur’aan, they can not bring (in which all those excellences must be present which are held in this Speech). Some of those excellences are: pure words, eloquence and rhetoric, preaching of good manners, explain the meanings excellently, material for relief and guidance of all the people, instructions for the mankind in all the matters of difficulties and problems, equally useful for all the nations of the world etc.

‘Aa-manuu – They believe. Those people who have not any doubt in Divinity of the God, Prophet-hood of the Messenger ‘Muhammad’ (Peace be upon Him) and truth of Holy Qur’aan.

Wa ‘amilus-Saali-haati – (do good works). The works which are according to the guidance of Holy Qur’aan and the Messenger (peace be upon Him), pure from badness and crookedness.
In this verse good tidings have been given to those who believe and do good works that they will go in the Gardens (Paradise) in which all facilities of comfort and pleasure will be present. The rivers of cool and flavored water will be flowing in them.

Now it has been cleared that to become rightful of the Heaven and for entering into it two excellences are necessary for the human being. (1) There might be no doubt in his heart regarding God and His Prophet (Peace be upon Him). (he should understand that his worshipped, Lord and Master is Allah Almighty, promise that the Messenger of God (Peace be upon Him) is true, believe that the Holy Qur’aan is the Speech of God and have faith on the Day of Resurrection). (2)  His all deeds would be according to the commands of Holy Qur’aan and instructions of the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon Him). He should not leave any that work which has been ordered and instructed as mentioned above. He should not do any prohibited work.

We have reached on this point with the Summary of this verse that Paradise can not be gotten only with the good works. Belief and faith are also necessary with good works and just like this good works are necessary with the belief.

LESSON # 41 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Feasts of Paradise
Verse – 25 of 286, Section – 3 (Part  - 1)
25.  And give glad tidings (O Muhammad) unto those who believe and do good works that theirs are Gardens underneath which rivers flow. (next to last)
As often as they are regaled with food of the fruit thereof, they say: This is what was given us aforetime and it is given to them in resemblance. There
for them are pure companions and therein they abide for ever.
25.  Wa bashshi-rillaziina ‘aa-manuu wa ‘amilus-Saali-haati ‘anna lahum jannaatin- tajrii min-tahtihal-‘anhaar.

Kullamaa ruziquu minhaa min-samaratir-rizqan, qaaluu haazallazii ruziqnaa min-qablu, wa ‘utuu bihii mutashaabihaa. Wa lahum fiihaaa ‘azwaa-jum-mutah-harah, wa hum fiihaa khaaliduun.

Lesson

Mutah-harah – (Pure). It aims that the companions (wives/husbands) who will be favoured to each person in the Paradise they will be pure and clear in all respect. They will be away from the filth of body and soul.

Khaaliduun – (For ever). They will remain in the Paradise for ever and will not come out of it.

In this verse God discussed about the rewards which will be given to the Believers and Pious persons. Usually a person needs a fine and well furnished house for living, delicious and tasteful meals for eating and drinking, pure, beautiful and pious companions, rest and comfort for ever. The person would not have any fear of ‘to be snatched’, expire of above mentioned favours. Also he/she would have faith that they will get advantages always from these things.

The God Almighty promised with the Believers like these things. The people who will believe on Oneness of God, His Angels, His Holy Books, His Prophets (Peace be upon Them), be alive again on the Day of Resurrection, good or bad luck with the direction of God and will act upon the commands of God and His last Messenger (Peace be upon Him) they will be favoured with these things after their departure from this world. They will live in the beautiful gardens. For eating they will be served with different types of fruit, which by shape will be like the fruit of this world but by taste, relish and fragrance those will be much superior to this world’s fruit.

Because the Paradise is the home of each type of material and spiritual pleasures and comforts so it will be their fortune that their companions will be pure, clean and clear. There they will not have any fear that their any pleasure or comfort will be lessen or withdrawn from them. But God Almighty will give them faith that these all favours are for ever for them, they would not have any fear of snatching any thing in their hearts. They are lucky who are rightful of that Paradise.

LESSON # 42 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Similes of Holy Qur’aan and Their Affects
Verse – 26 of 286, Section – 3 (Part  - 1)
Lo! Allah disdaineth not to coin the similitude of a gnat or even anything above that. Those who believe know that it is the truth from their Lord; and those who disbelieve say: What doth Allah wish (to teach) by such a similitude? He misleadeth many thereby, and He guideth many thereby. And He misleadeth thereby only miscreants.
‘Innallaaha laa yastah-yiii ‘any-yazriba masalam-maa ba-‘uuzatan- famaa fawqahaa. Fa-‘ammallaziina ‘aamanuu fa-ya’-lamuuna ‘annahul-Haqqu mir-Rabbihim. Wa ‘ammal-laziina kafaruu fayaquuluuna maazaaa’araadallaahu bihaa-zaa masa-laa. Yuzillu bihii kasiiranw-, wayahdii bihii kasiiraa. Wa maa yu-zillu bihiii ‘illal-Faasi-qiin.

Lesson

Fawqahaa – (Above that) More lean and ignoble thing than above.
In the previous verses disbelievers were invited to prove the truth of Holy Qur’aan that if they consider it is not the Speech of God, they produce the speech like this. But they could neither reply till to-date and nor they will till the Day of Resurrection. In this condition of helplessness they could not do anything. However they tried to find out and said that how is it an extraordinary that The God having too much high position and greatness gives similitude of so contemptible and lean things?
It is true that in the Holy Qur’aan bigger creatures are also mentioned on different places along with the smaller, animals like on one side the elephants, camels and horses etc and on the other hand ant, fly and mosquito etc. To make the people understand the God has discussed similes of these animals. As somewhere He says that idols of infidels are too weak and helpless to create a fly. But when a fly or mosquito sits on their faces they can not let it fly. Somewhere He says that religion of Infidels is weak like spider’s web. Hearing these like similes some Infidels began to say that God of Muslims speaks so strange (we seek refuge in Allah) that He does not hesitate to give instances of so small things. God replied on their criticism in this verse.

Simile means the thing for which example is given, be impressed upon mind by explaining widely and illuminating. Now that simile will be the best which fulfills this intention, wishing that thing is much customary or small itself. Mosquito is a too much ignoble and unimportant creature. Now where there is need to explain unreality of idols or any other creature, there will be appropriate example of mosquito. Criticizing against it is a folly and immaturity.

Summary of above verse is that Allah Almighty does not hesitate to give example of mosquito or smaller thing than it. Because purpose to give example is to explain anything. The example will be given like something is. There is nothing to hesitate or take bad with it.
The Believers take this example as true and proper explainer and consider it right from the God. But Infidels laugh at these examples and taunt critically that what Allah Almighty means by giving these types of examples?

The Believers have faith on being worshipped of God Almighty and Truth of Hadrat Muhammad (Peace be upon Him). They consider it their first duty to admit the orders of God Almighty and His Prophet (Peace be upon Him)) and to act on them. Therefore, if God Almighty explains any simile, they try to understand its true meanings. They do not care that the similitude is of what sort itself? Is it customary or have some importance? Is there an explanation of either any superior or inferior thing. Though they think about its true meaning and learn from it.

The Infidels refuse God Almighty and His Prophet (Peace be upon Him). They do not have any interest to find the Right. They just keep watching the secrets in the verses or to find out faults. So whenever Allah Almighty explains simile for their consideration in spite of trying to understand its true meanings, they begin to raise unreasonable questions on it.

From this verse we have learnt that the Believers and the people who have good moral character are those who think about the similitude explained by Allah Almighty. They try to understand and do not use crooked arguments in it.

Faasi-qiin - (Miscreants). According to the Divine’s Law who gets out from the obedience of God, disobeys and indulges in sins.
There are many ways to reach the destination in the world but out of these all there is only one way which can be straight. Allah Almighty gave wisdom and granted sense to the mankind. Not only this, although He sent messages through Prophets and Messengers (Peace be upon Then) for guidance. After this the mankind is empowered to choose a way which he wants. Now if a person, getting advantage of freedom chooses a wrong way then he falls in evil. And when he adopts evil at his own then other accessories of that way are provided. As putting hand into the fire gets burnt like this when a person adopts a wrong path then evils and harms increase gradually.

According to this verse due to similes of Allah Almighty some people go astray because of their reasoning absurdly and arguments. They do not think about purpose of these examples, although they waste their powers of thinking on criticizing against it. Immoral means miscreants, who run behind their evil desires and do not listen to any talk easily which may prevent them from their bad habits.

At the end of the verse God Almighty explains it more clearly that this astray comes to them who want to go astray. Allah Almighty does not attach astray upon anyone, although his heart leaves out due to his disobedience knowingly and repeatedly. Search for the truth and demand of the Right do not remain. Absurd and lie attach with heart. Though astray is the result of disobedience and evil.

LESSON # 43 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Who Go Astray
Verse – 27 of 286, Section – 3 (Part  - 1)
Those who break the covenant of Allah after ratifying it, and sever that which Allah ordered to be joined and (who) make mischief in the earth, Those are they who are the losers.
‘Allaziina yanqu-zuuna ‘Ah-dallaahi mim-ba’-di mii-saaqihii, wa yaqta-‘uuna maaa ‘amarallaahu bihiii ‘any-yuu-sala wa yufsiduuna fil-‘arz ‘ulaaa-‘ika   humul-khaa-siruun.

Lesson

‘Ah-da – (Covenant) To act upon the Spoken words after speaking them becomes necessary. Covenant of God means that The God is our Lord and we believe to obey the covenant of God. God asked from all the mankind collectively before sending them in this world, “Am I not your Lord”? All the mankind ratified, “Yes! You are our Lord”. Then God commanded, “I make witness to the earth and sky. And to remind you this covenant that I shall send My Messengers (Peace be upon Them). Hazrat Abi bin Ka’ab (Compliments on Him) said that the meaning of the Covenant of God is this covenant in this verse. Besides the covenant of the Day of Eternity there is some other covenant in which nature of mankind is present. Then there are other covenants also present which were done by having faith on the Prophets (Peace be upon Them) and are done with the pious on the name of God.

It has been being discussed from the previous verse that adulterers and disobedient people become victim of depravity. Now causes of their depravity are being mentioned:

•       They break the covenant after ratifying with God. To believe that Allah is my Master, my Worshipped and my Lord is a very simple talk and the sense of the mankind wishes itself that he should not believe on any other thing as his Lord but God.

•       Other token is that the miscreant breaks each type of that relationship to which God has commanded to unite. It means that the person should perform and complete all the Rights of God and which are due on him in accord with relationship with the mankind. But the miscreant becomes undutiful and ungrateful.

•       Third mark of the fornicator is that he spreads disturbance in the country. He creates mischief in the peace of world.

After pointing out towards above three signs the God has told their end that these people will go astray regarding the religion and the world. God Almighty save us from their evil and bring us towards the straight path.

LESSON # 44 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
How You Disbelieve In God
Verse – 28 of 286, Section – 3 (Part  - 1)
How disbelieve ye in Allah when ye were dead and He gave life to you! Then He will give  you death, then life again, and then unto Him ye will return.
Kayfa takfuruuna billaahi wa kuntum ‘am-waatan- fa- ‘ahyaakum. Summa yumiitukum summa yuhyiikum summa ‘ilay—hi turja-‘uun.

Lesson

Turja-‘uun – You will be returned. This word discloses the fact that human being does not end forever after his death. Moreover he will be given life again and he will be present in front of God Almighty.

The Messengers (Peace be upon Them) of Allah Almighty came towards all the nations of world and in the each corner of the earth. They all had the same message that God is one, He is the real Worshipped of all and He is actual Lord, life and death is in His Power.

He is the God Who created the earth as bed, the rivers flew in it so that the earth may become green and lush, and crops move about. He produced the mountains on it, grew vegetation and minerals, Erected the sky without pillars, Created the sun, the moon and the stars, from which someone can look the path in the dark nights. He is Who has given us life and provided materials for our improvement.

Consider it well also that there was a time when there was not any sign of human beings. Each side of the world was silent. He gave life to the human being. Human being spent his life here for many years. The person took advantage from His creatures. Then a time will come when all the human beings will die who will be present at that time. After it these human beings and other persons who had expired before them will get life by the Orders of Allah. Then all the human beings will appear before the God.

Power of giving Life and death is in the God’s hands. When last time of life comes for anyone, no body can extend till one second of the life.

When all the resources including life of human being are in powers of Allah and every breath depends on His mercy. Then we should bow our heads in front of the Orders of Allah Almighty. Our good luck and forgiveness is in it that we should try to be prepared for appearance in front of God and accountability for our deeds.

LESSON # 45 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Tokens of God
Verse – 29 of 286, Section – 3 (Part  - 1)
He it is Who created for you all that is in the earth. Then turned He to the heaven, and fashioned it as seven heavens. And He is Knower of all things.
Huwal-lazii khalaqa lakum-maa fil’arzi jamii-‘aa: sum-mas-tawaaa ‘ilas-Samaaa-‘i fa-sawwaa-hunna sab-‘a samaa-waat Wa Huwa bi-kulli shay-‘in ‘aliim.

Lesson

Fa-sawwaa-hunna – So fashioned them. It means “To adjust/rectify different parts and joints of a thing at their own places”.

Sab-‘a samaa-waat – “Seven Heavens,” “Sam-un” is the matter of “Samaa-waat” and its meaning is height. Due to relation of height with the sky it is called Sky. “Sab-aa” means seven. Hence in the Arabic proverb this word is used in the meanings of too much and numerous.

The human being is the name of the collection of body and soul. It is clear that needs of these both things are completed by the God Almighty, who made this physical frame of mud. His first kindness is that He completes all the physical needs of the human beings so that his body may develop, improve, bud and blossom. The soul of human being also needs food along with bringing up the body.

The meaning of this verse is that the Lord created the earth first. He flew rivers, seas and ocean on one side and raised the high mountains on the other side which talk with the sky grew forests of the trees, fed up the inner parts of the earth with different kinds of uncounted treasures. And these all things were created for the sake of Prophet Adam (Peace be upon Him) and His generation. Now it is the duty of Human Beings that they get reasonable advantages from these uncounted treasures using their wisdom and sense.

Using the word jamii-‘aa The God commanded that these all things are for the children of Adam (Peace be upon Him). They have the right to get advantages from these things. With the physical body of the Human Being breeding of his soul is also necessary. For this purpose earth and its production is un-sufficient. So after creating the earth He engaged the attention towards the Sky. From there it rained guidance in the different times for the training of the Souls of the Human Beings. As the mankind gets advantage from the things of the earth, he should get advantage also from this Rain of Guidance so that his soul may become perfect. As it after becoming a complete mankind he may attend the Court of God.

LESSON # 46 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Dignity of Human Being
Verse – 30a of 286, Section – 4 (Part  - 1)
And when thy Lord said unto
the angels: Lo! I am about to place a viceroy in the earth,
Wa ‘iz qaala Rabbuka lil-Malaaa-‘ikati –“Innii jaa-ilun fil-‘arzi KHALIIF-AH”

Lesson

Malaaa-‘ikati (Angels) this word “Malaaa-‘ikati” came out
from the word “Alook”. Alook means to carry the message.
So Malaaa-‘ikati means the creature which brings the Messages of God towards Prophets and Messengers (Peace be upon Them). The Angels are the Bright and Spiritual Beings. They are pure from sins and do not disobey the orders of God.

KHALIIF-AH – (Viceroy, Caliph). KhaliifatUllah is the person who
establishes the Divine’s Law on the earth. It is evident from here that which powers and abilities will be given to the human being by the God, those will be quite right to establish the caliphate of God.

He is the Lord of the worlds who created the earth, the skies and other all the universe. All things of the earth like vegetation, minerals, beasts and animals, mountains, rivers, canals, springs etc come on the one side of this universe and on the other side the skies and the other things created in the skies. God knows better about the philosophy of creating all the things of earth and skies.

Why The Adam (peace be upon Him) was created? What was the need to make this body of mud (human being)? What is its purpose of life? The answer to these questions has been given in this verse and the verses coming ahead.

When the God completed the work of creation of the earth, skies and all things in between them like the moon, the sun, the stars, rivers, mountains etc and they began their work then The God addressed the Angels (Peace be upon Them), “Now the time has come to know that for whom these things have been created, he should also come in front. The aim is that I want to create my Caliph on the earth who will get the possession of all these things and will complete the motive of God in the world. He will pay The God’s right of Caliphate and Assistance. He will issue and pass the Orders of God.”

God Almighty is The Creator and Master of this universe. He is the Master of all good manners of benevolence. We neither can count His traits and nor works. He has put in the leaven of human being some excellences out of His attributes so that he may show up His characteristics after coming in this world, elevate His name and prove with his speech and deed that he is really the Caliph and Assistant of the God Almighty.

If the God is Merciful then the human being should feel pity not over his near relatives but also over all the living creatures. It is said by the Messenger (Peace and Blessings be upon Him) that if you slaughter any animal, take pity over it, slaughtering knife should be sharp edged so that the animals’ vein may cut off immediately and it does not feel much trouble later on.

One attribute of The God is Justice and Equity. It is the duty of human being that he should do justice and equity equally with all. In this matter he should neither favour his near relative and nor be ignored the stranger. All the persons should be seen with one sight.

One name of The God is For-Bearer also (Mild). The mankind disobeys Him and he indulges in many sins but The God delays, takes it with softness, overlooks it and gives time to the criminal so that he may renounce and change his attitude. It is also our duty that we should produce in ourselves the attribute of mildness. We should keep soft behaviour with our comrades and give them chance for correction on their mistakes.

In short, the human being should try to grow all the traits and manners which are noble of God and treat the people as God treats His servants.

If we do not produce God’s attributes in ourselves then we do not have right to be the Caliph and Assistant of the God Almighty, and we can not get this higher rank any way which He liked for us.

LESSON # 47 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Request Of Angels And Reply By God
Verse – 30b of 286, Section – 4 (Part  - 1)
They said: Wilt thou place therein one who will do harm therein and will shed blood, while we, we hymn Thy praise and sanctity Thee? He said: Surely I know that which ye know not.
Qaaluuu ‘ataj-‘alu fiihaa many-yufsidu fiihaa wa yasfi-kud-dimaaa’. Wa nahnu nusabbihu bi-Ham-dika wa nu-qaddisu lak. Qaala “’Inniii ‘a’-lamu maa laa ta’-lamuun”.

Lesson

Yasfi-kud-dimaaa – (yasfi-ku means to shed, to flow, to cause and ad-dimaaa came out from ‘dam’ which means blood).

Nusabbihu – We hymn means we sing songs of praise to You (God). Consider with heart that God is the most Superior to the creature and accept it with tongue, and admit that all good attributes in Him are according to His rank.

Nu-qaddisu – We sanctify (derived from sanctity). Deem that the God Almighty is sacred and higher from all the bad traits and attributes of His creature.

When the Angels (peace be upon them) listened the announcement from the God, “Innii jaa-ilun fil-‘arzi KHALIIF-AH”(Lo! I am about to place a viceroy in the earth), they said, “Wilt thou place therein one who will do harm therein and will shed blood, while we, we hymn Thy praise and sanctity Thee”. Aim of this conversation is that the human being will murder his other brothers and sisters, there is a danger of quarrels between this creature on the earth, due to the quarrels the world will become home of destruction and ruin because He will follow his wishes, he will not become obedient completely of you.

The Angels (peace be upon them) requested, “O Lord! If You mean to create Your Caliph so that You be praised in each side, all creatures sing songs of praise to You and obey to You then we are present for Your this service, we are ready every time to listen your orders and act upon Your advice. “We hymn Thy praise and sanctity Thee”. So what is the need of creating a creature on the earth?
They also requested that Your Nature is sacred and pure, Your each work is right but we can not understand that out of the creature of the earth, how can be a creature which obey You, praise You, hymn and sanctify You like us. The God Almighty replied them, “Surely I know that which ye know not”.

The above mentioned narration is one dark side of the picture because the Angels (peace be upon them) considered the human being will shed the blood of his brothers, will plunder, will quarrel and ruin. They saw in it only the evil and badness.

But about the other bright side of this picture, “Creation of the Caliph, the human being” they did not know. Hidden qualities in the mankind were new ideas and inventions, development in different fields of life as his reach from the depth of oceans to heights of the skies, development in the different departments of the science for example physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, computers, aero planes, vehicles, construction technology, petrochemical, ships, his journey towards different planets, electromechanical, agricultural, industrial field, his control over the clouds and rains, his control over the birth, vegetation etc, they did not know about all of this. Due to their ignorance from the hidden qualities of human being they knew only one side. The Angels request was not to criticize the God but they requested politely because they did not know that this mankind will disclose the secrets and powers of the God.

The God knew both sides of the life of His caliph. He was aware of His caliph’s present position and also about the coming changes ahead with the passage of time. He was acquainted that His Caliph will bring changes in the entire world with his knowledge and wisdom.

So The God Almighty replied on the request of Angels (Peace be upon them), “I know and you do not know”. Its aim is that you don’t know about how much advisability and philosophy are hidden in creation of My caliph.

LESSON # 48 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Excellence of Knowledge
Verse – 31 & 32 of 286, Section – 4 (Part  - 1)
31.  And He taught Adam all the names, then showed them to the angels, saying: Inform Me of the names of these, if ye are truthful.

32.  They said: Be glorified! We have no knowledge saving that which Thou hast taught us. Lo! Thou, only Thou, art the Knower, the Wise.
31.  Wa ‘allama ‘Aadamal-‘as-maaa-‘a kullahaa summa ‘arazahum ‘alal-malaaa-‘ikati faqaala ‘ambi-‘uunii bi-‘as-maaa-‘i haaa-‘u-laaa-‘i ‘in- kuntum saadiqiin.
32.  Qaaluu –Subhaanaka laa ‘ilma lanaaa ‘illaa maa ‘allamtanaa. ‘Innaka ‘antal-‘Aliimul-Hakiim.

Lesson

‘Aadama – (Adam). He (peace be upon Him) is the Father of all humankind.

‘As-maaa-‘a.  (Names) the word which is spoken for acquaintance of any person or thing is used as its name. To recognize that person/thing it is also necessary that its qualities and signs should be known.
Here meanings of the names are, “the names of all the things, their characteristics and conditions which would have to become necessary for the Adam and His children after sending them on the earth.” God Almighty acquainted the Adam (Peace be upon Him) about all the things’ names, their states and their characteristics.

According to the Knowledge of God the creation which was going to become His Caliph, before his appearing all the things were produced and then the humankind was created and He was named as Adam (peace be upon Him).

As you know that one creature of the God is Angels which are produced from the Bright (Noor). They pass their entire time in obedience and worship of God and it is their greatest excellence. They are totally pure and clean from all the wishes and needs which are good for the Adam. So they quite do not know about the use of all  things of the earth and skies. However it is fact that God has not created any thing without cause. There is indeed any philosophy and advisability in it.

The Lord Almighty created the Adam (peace be upon Him) from the mud. Then He produced in his body different kinds of wishes and needs. He gave knowledge also to adopt the different means to fulfill his wishes. He grew ability in it that he may acquaint with all the things easily and may know their characteristics.

The Adam has to face different accidents, incidents and changes in the different times. It has been kept in His nature that He will cross all the hurdles consciously and successfully. He has been informed about names of each necessary thing and its characteristics to compete in all kinds of difficulties.

As it has been already discussed that the Angels know only about which they have been given knowledge. The things they do not need, they neither know about them and nor they can try to know about them.

So after teaching the names of all things to the Adam (Peace be upon Him) the God Almighty produced those things in front of the Angels. He commanded them, “If you are true in your claim that you hymn Mine praise and sanctity Me perfectly then tell Me the names of following things”.

The Angels are sacred creature. They do not have any work besides worship. How could they tell the names? They said, “We have only that knowledge which You have taught us. Besides that we know nothing. Now! These things, we can say only that there will be any advantage in producing them but we don’t know about its philosophy and secrecy because Your works are not but full with Your philosophy and advisability.

It is evident from these verses that due to knowledge the mankind became superior and higher in rank to the Angels. Now if any person out of the generation of the Adam (peace be upon Him) is careless from the knowledge then he can not perform the duty of God’s caliph. We see that those nations, who acquired knowledge, are really on the path of development.

LESSON # 49 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Victory Of The Knowledge
Verse – 33 of 286, Section – 4 (Part  - 1)
He said: O Adam! Inform them of their names, and when he had informed them of their names, He said: Did I not tell you that I know the secret of the heavens and the earth? And I know that which ye disclose and which ye hide.
Qaala  “Yaaa-‘Aadamu ‘ambi’-hum- bi-‘asmaaa-‘ihim.” Falammaaa   ‘amba-‘ahum- bi-‘Asmaaa-ihim, qaala   ‘alam ‘aqul-lakum  ‘iniii   ‘a’-lamu gay-bas-samaawaati wal-‘arz, wa ‘a’-lamu maa tubdunna wa maa kuntum taktu-muun.

Lesson

The Caliphate’s event of the Adam (Peace be upon Him) is being narrated continuously. When Allah Almighty declared the caliphate of the Adam before Angels (Peace be upon Them) at first they requested, “Wilt thou place therein one who will do harm therein and will shed blood, while we, we hymn Thy praise and sanctity Thee?” He said: “Surely I know that which ye know not.”

God Almighty kept trial of knowledge before them to prove the claim of Adam. The Adam (peace be upon Him) was bestowed by the knowledge of things according to His natural ability and purity. The Angels were not able to know about the names and characteristics of the things. When the questions were asked from the both, the Angels accepted their ignorance but the Adam told the names of all the things and proved His superiority.

At this stage God Almighty said, “I had already told you that I know about outward appearance and inward qualities of every thing. I am well-informed about the secrets of the earth and heavens. The doubts about the Adam you disclosed, I know them and I also know about that which were not disclosed openly by you.” As though the knowledge of God is containing all the things, He bestows rank and responsibility to each one according to one’s ability and qualification.

LESSON # 50 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Prostration Of The Angels
Verse – 34 of 286, Section – 4 (Part  - 1)
And when We said unto the angels: Prostrate yourselves before Adam, they fell prostrate, all save Iblis. He demurred through pride, and so became a disbeliever.
Wa ‘iz qulnaa lil- malaaa-‘ikatis-judduu  li-‘Aadama fasajaduuu ‘illaaa ‘Ibliis ‘abaa wastakbara wa kaana minal-kaafiriin.

Lesson

As-judduu – (Prostrate yourselves) literally and particularly in the Divine precepts of religion Sajdah means prostration; to bow the body and place the forehead on the ground; prayer. Sajdah is the most venerable token so according to the Divine’s Law Sajdah is forbidden for anyone except Allah Almighty. In this verse aim of prostrate to the Adam (peace be upon Him) is that the Angels (peace be upon Them) bow their heads towards the Adam to accept His superiority and reverence for His respect. If we take its meanings in accord with the Divine then also its aim is to prostrate to the God Almighty keeping their faces towards the Adam (peace be upon Him) because here meanings of the word li-‘Aadama are ‘towards the Adam’ and not (prostrate) for Adam (peace be upon Him)

‘Ibliis – (Satan, devil) literal meanings of this word are ‘hopeless’. This ‘Ibliis was not an Angel but He was a demon created from the Fire. Because the Angel is a heavenly spirit, so it can not be hoped that the Angels will refuse, disagree, deny or violate the Order of God Almighty. Satan was included in the community of the Angels due to His worship and obedience of Allah Almighty.

‘abaa Wastakbara-(He demurred through pride) the Devil ‘Satan’ disobeyed intentionally and took pride.

When it was cleared that the Adam (peace be upon Him) was superior to the Angels due to His knowledge and rank, and was rightful of the Caliphate of God on the earth, then Allah Almighty ordered to the Angels to bow towards the Adam (peace be upon them) admitting His grandeur.

Obeying the order of God all the Angels prostrated of course the devil demurred and said, “I am created from the fire and the Adam is created from the mud so I shall not prostrate towards the Adam” (peace be upon Him).
Due to denying the order of God the Ibliis became infidel and He was forfeited from the Mercy of Allah Almighty. He lost the vicinity of God and fell in the reproach of God, and was fixed in the deserving anguish.

 LESSON # 51 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Adam In The Garden And Prohibited Tree
Verse – 35 of 286, Section – 4 (Part  - 1)
And We said: O Adam! Dwell thou and thy wife in the Garden, and eat ye, freely (of the fruits) thereof where ye will; but come not nigh
this tree lest ye become wrongdoers.
Wa qulnaa yaaa-‘Aada-mus-kun ‘anta wa zaw-jukal-Jannata wa kulaaminhaa ragadan hay-su shi’-tumaa; wa laa taqrabaa haazihish-shajarata fata-kuunaa minaz-zaalimiin.

Lesson

Jannata – literal significance of this word is the garden whose close trees cover the earth. In the phrase of Divine precepts of Religion its significance is that splendid Garden in which there are uncounted blessings and which will be conferred to the persons of good disposition. That Garden is called Jannah also because that is hidden from our sights too.

zaw-juka – (Your wife) Eve (the wife of Adam (peace be upon Him) who was already created before this discussion. She is the Mother all of us.

Hay-su shi’-tumaa – (Where ye will) (from where you wish to eat) this word exposes the width and greatness of the Paradise.

God Almighty created the Adam in accord with His own Will and made him the viceroy of His Own on the earth. Then to clear his position Allah Almighty ordered the Angels to prostrate towards the Adam (peace be upon him) so that anyone may not have courage to rebel or disobey Him. The Angels admitted the greatness of the Adam and bowed towards Him.

After the Caliphate of Adam (Peace be upon Him) Allah Almighty gave them (Adam and His wife) chance to live in the Paradise, eat and drink what they wish.

About the Eve Commentators of Islam narrated that the Adam was alone in the Paradise. He was tired of aloneness. So God created the Eve and commanded both to live in the Paradise.

It is evident that God Almighty gave the Adam how many rewards and ranks, at first He was given knowledge, then He became Caliph of God, then he was presented a life partner (wife) for comfort and pleasure, then He was placed in Paradise and bestowed uncounted blessings for eating and drinking. Allah Almighty bestows presents to His servants always. Now it is the duty of His servants to thank God and know the respect of these favours.
Laa taqrabaa - come not nigh (near). Actual significance of this order was that the Adam should not eat the fruit of that particular tree.

Haazihish-shajarata – ‘this tree’ was a tree out of the trees of Paradise and the Adam was acquainted about that tree. In the Holy Qur’aan there is no explanation about it however the commentators of the religion have different views about that particular tree. Some of them say that it was the tree of grapes and some say that it was plant of wheat; some have view as dates and fig. In the Sayings of the Messenger of God (Peace and blessings on Him) it has not been explained.

Minaz-zaalimiin – (out of wrongdoers) it is the significance of those people who oppress themselves. Disobeying the orders of God is the oppression over oneself. Now it is clear that at that time means of the Paradise was not as the reward of good deeds as now it has. But at that time there were Divine’s laws. Some orders were to obey them and some deeds were to be prevented to do them.

It is the lesson for us that the person who does the works of doubts and suspicions him endangers himself intensively for wrong deeds. So the God Almighty prevented the Adam (peace be upon Him) to go near that prohibited tree so that neither they will go nigh the tree and nor they will wish to eat it. We should also abstain from the doubtful and suspicious things. It should also be remembered that the person who disobeys the orders of God Almighty he actually loses his own. He creates mischief for himself in this world as well as the next world i.e. Doomsday.

LESSON # 52 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Error Of The Adam And Expulsion From Paradise
Verse – 36 of 286, Section – 4 (Part  - 1)
But Satan caused them to deflect there-from and expelled them from the (happy) state in which they
were; and We said: Fall down, one
of you a foe unto the other! There shall be for you on earth a
habitation and provision for a time.
Fa-‘azalla-humash-shay-taanu ‘anhaa fa-‘akh-raja-humaa mimmaa kaanaa fiih. Wa qulnah-bituu ba’-zukum li-ba’zin ‘aduww. Wa  lakum fil ‘arzi musta-qarrunw- wa mataa-‘un ‘ilaa hiin.

Lesson

Fa-‘azalla-huma – Then they were deflected. It is understood that deflection does not come under the meanings of intentionally disobedience and violence. But significance of the deflection is error, slip due to mistake, forgetfulness.

Ash-shay-taanu – Significance of the Satan is that creature who went away from the Mercy of the Creator. It is the second name of Iblis. He disobeyed the God Almighty so He was ordered to get rid of the Paradise. Then He became strict enemy of the generation of the Adam (Peace be upon Him). He can not compel the human being to disobey the God or to do evil, but He induces the mankind with different methods to go on the path of evil. He is able to do this work (remaining either away or near) without measurement of the distances.

‘Anhaa – (Cause of it) It may be pointed out towards the tree as significant that by the tree Satan deflected them and it may also be earmarked towards the Paradise that the Adam (Peace be upon Him) was expelled from it.

God Almighty placed the Adam (Peace be upon Him) and His wife in Paradise and ordered not to eat the fruit of that particular tree
and not to go near it. The Satan did not prostrate towards the Adam so He was rejected. He became enemy of the Adam due to jealousy. He intended strongly that anyhow the Adam be deflected from the Paradise.

In the Holy Qur’aan it has come in an other place that the Iblis reached near the Adam and His wife and assured them swearing that He is Their friend and well-wisher, and said that if you will eat the fruit of this tree, you will become Angels and will remain in Paradise forever.
The Adam and His wife were entrapped. They did not know that anyone can swear false of the God. They ate the fruit of that tree. As they ate the fruit, their dress of Paradise was dropped down from the bodies and they began to fold the leaves of the trees around their bodies due to shame. The God Almighty ordered them to get out from here. Satan became cause of their deflection from the Paradise. We should try to save ourselves from His deception.

Ih-bituu - Fall down (you all). It signifies to go down from the higher place or migrate from one place to the other. It also signifies that in which Paradise the Adam (peace be upon Him) and His wife were residing they all (including their children and race) had to leave that place.

‘Aduwwun – (Enemies, foe, rival) the map of the life on earth has been taught by this word. In this world there will be possibility of struggle, jealousy, selfishness, sensuality and envy, and to save oneself from this badness will be the token of human being’s piousness.
‘Ilaa hiin – (For a time, till the particular time) it is evident from this verse that stay of human being is accidental on this earth and not forever. Then they will attend the Court of God.

After eating the fruit of that particular tree due to misleading of the Satan, which was forbidden to eat by the God Almighty, He ordered that this place is not suitable for you now. Go away on the earth. In the world some people of the mankind will not remain in peace and truce, and will quarrel with each other. They will reside there till their death. During their life time they will have to get advantage from the earthen commodities with working hard and collect the things for drinking and eating.
Useful matters which come out of this verse are:
•        Satan is enemy of the human being. He tries his best to cheat and deceive the mankind.
•        Existence of the humankind is casual/accidental. Its reality is like an Inn. So we should recognize the world as to stay for some time and we should not forget our Lord, God Almighty supposing this world to live forever.

    LESSON # 53 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Penitence Of The Adam (Peace Be Upon Him)
Verse – 37 of 286, Section – 4 (Part  - 1)
Then Adam received from his Lord words (of revelation), and He relented towards him. Lo! He is the Relenting, the Merciful.
Fata-laqqaaa ‘Aadamu mir-Rabbihii Kalimaatin,  fa-taaba ‘alayh.  ‘Innahuu Huwat-Tawwaa-bur-Rahiim.

Lesson

Fata-laqqaaa – Then learnt, received from Lord.
Kalimaatin – Words (of revelation). The God Almighty taught the Adam (Peace be upon Him) the words of penitence with His Mercy and Kindness. Here the words of penitence signify towards the following verse of Holy Qur’aan, “They said: Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If Thou forgive us not and have not mercy on us, surely we are of the lost”. (VII: 23 - The Heights) “Qaalaa Rabbanaa zalamnaaa ‘anfu-sanaa Wa ‘il-lam tagfir-lanaa wa  tar-hamnaa   lanakuu-nanna minal-khaa-siriin.” (7: 23 – Al-‘Aa’-raaf). These words were spoken by the both i.e. the Adam and His wife (compliments upon them).

Fa-taaba – so He relented, engaged the attention. Penitence means repentance for sins, sorrow for wrongdoing, and return towards the straight path. Request for forgiveness from the sins is called penitence because the mankind admits with the perception of sins and promises that he will abstain from the sins.

When the Adam (peace be upon Him) and His wife were ordered to leave the Paradise, they perceived about their mistake, regretted a lot on it, wept in the situation of distress on their mistake and wandered repentant restlessly. Ultimately the God Almighty felt pity upon them and revealed the words of benediction for penitence in their hearts. They prayed with these words and God Almighty accepted their penitence because certainly He is the relenting and howsoever merciful upon His servants.

Three things are necessary for the penitence:-
•        The human being should admit and look back with sorrow on his sin.
•        He should intend strongly that he will not do it again.
•        He should not do this sin in future.

It has been pressed many times in the Holy Qur’aan and the Sayings of the Messenger (Peace be upon Him) about penitence. We should renounce for forgiveness of each type of sins, (known or un-known, minor or major) from the God Almighty.

LESSON # 54 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Need Of Revelation & Outcome of Its Deniers
Verse – 38 & 39 of 286, Section – 4 (Part  - 1)
38.  We said: Go down, all of
you, from hence; but verily there
cometh unto you from Me a guidance; and whoso followeth My guidance, there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve.

39.  But they who disbelieve, and deny Our Revelation, such are rightful owners of the Fire. They
will abide therein for ever.
38.  Qulnah-bituu minhaa jamii-aa. Fa-‘imma  ya’-ti-yan-nakum-minnii Hudan- famantabi-‘a   Hudaa-ya falaa khaw-fun ‘alay-him wa laa hum yah-zanuun.

39.  Wallaziina kafaruu wa Kazzabuu bi-‘Aayaatinaaa ‘ulaaa-‘ika  ‘As-haabun-Naar. Hum fiihaa  Khaaliduun.

Lesson

Ih-bituu – Go down. This Command is not being delivered to the Adam (peace be upon Him) and His generation as a punishment. Error of the Adam (peace be upon Him)was forgiven. But command to go down on the earth remained as usual because He was appointed as Caliph on the earth. Aim to keep them in the earth was that the people who will obey the God Almighty, they will be sent in Paradise and who will disobey they will be kept out of the Paradise.

Khaw-fun – (Fear) means perception of in coming loss or pain in future. Here it signifies that the Believers and pious people will not be punished on the Doomsday.

Laa hum yah-zanuun - Neither shall they grieve. The believers and good people will not repent on their lives they passed in this world (their first lives).

The God Almighty commanded the Adam (peace be upon Him) ) and His children, “Go down, all of you, from here and don’t be sorrowful. My Sight of Kindness will remain over you in the earth”. But they were also told, “My Guidance will reach continuously through the Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon them), and whoso will follow My guidance, there shall be no fear for them to be thrown in the Hell, and neither they shall feel grievance to be got out from the Paradise. They will be entered again in the Paradise. But they who disbelieve, and deny Our Revelation, such people are rightful owners of the Fire. They will abide therein for ever”.

As-haabun-Naar - rightful owners of the Fire. As though the people who falsify and deny the Divines Law of God Almighty, they have connected their relation with the Hell.

When the Adam (peace be upon Him) came in this world, Allah Almighty taught them the Law of residing here and to go back again in the Paradise. It signifies that God Almighty will send His Messages towards them as and when He will feel necessary, which will be the source of guidance. He will arrange the Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon Him) for guidance of the race of Adam. Human being can not find the straight path only with his sense and wisdom. It is important for him to refer towards God Almighty, Who is Creator of his nature. The people who will admit His guidance whole hearted, think about His sent significant and act upon His commands, they will get freedom from all kinds of sorrow and grief, and after their present lives they will enter into the Paradise, where they will obtain all types of comfort and rest for ever. However those people who will deny His guidance, who will disobey His commands, they will go astray for ever due to their un-expert conscientious objections. They will be thrown in the Hell after death, where they will become fuel of the Fire and will be arrested in different types of agony.

It is clear from this story that if the human being wishes to get spiritual peace and rest, then he can get it only on acting upon the guidance of Allah Almighty. Without it, it is impossible. We should pray from God Almighty for penitence of all the previous sins, request Him for forgiveness, and act upon the guidance (Holy Qur’aan and Sayings of the Messenger (peace be upon Him)

Let us join those people who act upon the guidance of Allah Almighty and become the successors of Paradise. Now there is only way that we have to admit the teachings of the last Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon Him) whole hearted, act upon it honestly with the faith that it is the last teachings, this Prophet is the last Prophet (peace be upon Him) and that after Him no Prophet will come in this world.
