LESSON # 111 FROM HOLY QUR’AN

BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)

Abrogation Of The Verses

Verse –106 & 107 of 286, Section – 13 (Part  - 1)

106.  Such of Our Revelation as We abrogate or cause be forgotten, but We bring (in place) one better or the like thereof. Knowest thou not that Allah is Able to do all things? 107.  Knowest thou not that it is Allah unto Whom belongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth. And ye have not,   beside Allah, any guardian or helper?

106.  Maa nansakh min ‘aa-yatin ‘aw nunsihaa na’-ti bi-khayrim-minhaaa ‘aw mislihaa.  ‘Alam ta’-lam  ‘annallaaha ‘alaa kulli shay-‘in- Qadiir. 107.  ‘Alam ta’-lam  ‘annallaaha lahuu mulkus-samaawaati  wal-‘arz.  Wa maa lakum- min- duu-nillaahi  minw-waliyyinw-wa laa  nasiir.

Lesson

              

Maa nansakh min ‘aa-yatin – (Such of Our Revelation as We abrogate) there are two words considerable in this sentence:

•        ‘aa-yat (literal meanings are sign and token) and many things are aimed from it like miracles which have sign of the Power of God Almighty and prophet hood of the Prophet, Command and order of The Lord Almighty, and the verses of the Holy Qur’an (round signs) etc.

•        Nansakh (We abrogate) to order in place of the previous order which may be better than that or the like thereof, to finish the first order and bring (in place) one better or alike. As far as there is concern to change the miracle, in that case it is a common thing that the God Almighty may abrogate one miracle and may bring one better or alike to which He considers better according to the change of time. As far as there is concern about the other meanings, in it two additional matters come out: One is the verses of previous Heavenly Books and the second is the verses of Holy Qur’an itself. Abrogation of the previous Heavenly Books after revelation of the Holy Qur’an is then quite openly matter.

The signs of the verses of Holy Qur’an (round signs) have been applied later on. In the beginning these signs did not exist. So the question regarding abrogation of these signs does not grow. Moreover it seems the right saying, “Aim regarding abrogation of the verses is that the new Commands and Orders of God Almighty have been revealed in the Holy Qur’an in place of His previous Orders and Commands mentioned in His Old Heavenly Books Torah and Gospel), and these Commands abrogate the old Orders.

Questioning The Messenger

(Glory, grace, peace and blessings be upon Him)

Verse –108 of 286, Section – 13 (Part  - 1)

Or would ye question your Messenger as Moses was questioned aforetime? He who chooseth disbelief instead of faith, verily be hath gone astray from a right path.

‘Am turiiduuna  ‘an- tas-‘aluu  Rasuulakum  kamaa  su- ‘ila  Muusaa  min-  qabl.   Wa  many-‘yatabaddalil-kufra  bil-‘iimaani  faqad zalla sawaaa-‘assabiil.

Lesson

              

We have studied about abrogation of the verses in the last lesson that The God Almighty ‘Such of His Revelation as He abrogates or causes to be forgotten, but He brings (in place) one better or the like thereof’. It is proved in the light of events/incidents and history that whenever any Heavenly Book was caused to be forgotten or abrogated then one better or the like thereof was revealed in place of it and the Servants of The God Almighty were not disappointed from the Guidance of Allah Almighty.

Now one famous matter is being illuminated in this verse that is the guidance about asking questions from the Messenger Merciful Muhammad (glory, grace, peace and blessings be upon Him). The children of Israel used to try the production of various sort of doubts in the hearts of Muslims about the Messenger of God Almighty (glory, grace, peace and blessings be upon Him) and The Holy Qur’an, and said them to ask replies from the Prophet of Allah Almighty (glory, grace, peace and blessings be upon Him) to clear their doubts. Actually they had aimed that if the Muslims do not accept their religion then they at the very least will become suspicious from their own religion and Islamic teachings. Some Muslims used to ask unreasonable questions from the Last Messenger (glory, grace, peace and blessings be upon Him) unknowing the conspiracy and plan of the children of Israel. The God Almighty prohibited them from this thing.

There is also another purpose of prohibition to ask questions from the Prophet of God Almighty (glory, grace, peace and blessings be upon Him). Due to questioning over and over it becomes cause in increasing the difficulties and restrictions over oneself by the human beings. Easy commands become difficult. In the matters in which a person had freedom, after the revelation of orders that person has been restricted. It all was happened with the children of Israel. For instance story of the Cow exists in front of us.

Envy Of The People Of The Scripture

Verse –109 of 286, Section – 13 (Part  - 1)

Many of the People of the Scripture long to make you disbelievers after your belief, through envy on their own account, after the truth hath become manifest unto them. Forgive and be indulgent (towards them) until Allah gives command. Lo! Allah is able to do all things.

Wadda kasiirum-min  ‘Ah-lil-Kitaabi  law  yarudduuna- kum- mim- ba’-di ‘iimaanikum  kuf-faaraa.  Hasadam-min ‘indi ‘an-fusihim-mim- ba’-di maa tabay-yana  lahumul-Haqq.  Fa’-fuu was-fahuu  hattaa  ya’-tiyallaahu bi-‘amrih.   ‘Innal-laaha ‘alaa  kulli shay-‘in- Qadiir.

Lesson

The behaviour of disbelievers and children of Israel has been discussed in the last lesson that they had used to ask questions from their Prophets (peace be upon Them) again and again. At last they chose the way of infidelity leaving the belief due to their false manners. Now the Muslims are being warned that they have long to make you disbelievers after your belief, through envy on their own account, after the truth has become manifest unto them. Cause of this passion into the Infidels and the children of Israel is that they have hearty envy and malice against Islam and Muslims.

Envy means to pine/enrage in the heart looking someone’s any goodness, success, excellence, beauty and quality. And wish to rob from him, it should become of mine. He (the envious) not only does the enmity with someone but in fact he criticizes the Religion of Allah Almighty. And without any reason he envies in his heart. None can get something from envy. However morality of him is enraged unavoidable. And his belief becomes deficient.

Allah Almighty Commanded, “Forgive and be indulgent (towards them) until Allah gives command”, wait till the time they might not reach at the last stage of enmity, and controversy is not firmed.

Store For The Doomsday

Verse –110 of 286, Section – 13 (Part Three-Fourth) (Part  - 1)

And establish worship, and pay the poor-due. And whatever of good ye send before (you) for your souls, ye will find it with Allah. Lo! Allah is Seer of what ye do.

Wa  ‘aqiimus-Salaata  wa ‘aatuz-Zakaah.  Wa maa  tuqad-dimuu  li-‘anfusikum-min khay-rin- taji-duuhu  ‘indallaah.  ‘In-nallaaha bimaa ta’-maluuna  Basiir.

Lesson

As you have already studied that the main cause of not accepting the Islam by the children of Israel was their envy. They were burning that why the prophet hood has been bestowed to the children of Ishmael snatching from the children of Israel. They were refusing to admit the Just only due to the fire of envy and jealousy.

They also wanted to include the Muslims with their disbeliever companions after leaving their religion Islam. So they used to try for growing different types of suspicious thoughts in their hearts. They used to criticize the religion Islam and personality of the Last Prophet Muhammad (glory, grace, peace and blessings be upon Him) . They imagined that if the Muslims will not leave their religion then at the very least them will become suspicious certainly from their religion side. So hence the religion Islam will become weak.

Allah Almighty commanded the Muslims to resist the attack and remove the try of the children of Israel that they must not attend to them. Moreover, wait for the proclamation of the last command Jihad (to try and strive) of God Almighty and during this period be frozen on two basic principles. (1)  Establish the prayer. (2)  Pay the poor-due. These two principles are like two main pillars due to which the power of both (individual as well as the nation) increases and that can not be rebelled from the religion.

Besides other unlimited advantages organization of the nation becomes powerful due to establish the prayer. Relationship between the persons themselves becomes profound. And they remain united for each other. The wealth is divided with the poor-due. The poor becomes rich and they can not be changed due to greed and cause of their financial weakness.

It has also been told that if you will continue this good act then you will get reward from your Lord Almighty because He witnesses your each act. Even a little try of any person does not become fruitless.

So to escape ourselves from the conspiracies and attacks of the enemies we should catch with firmness these two principles.

Who Deserves The Paradise

Verse –111 & 112 of 286, Section – 14 (Part  - 1)

111.  And they say: None entereth Paradise unless he be a Jew or a Christian. These are their own desires. Say: Bring your proof (of what ye state) if ye are truthful.   112.     Nay, but whosoever  surrendereth his purpose to Allah while doing good, his reward is with his Lord; and there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve.

111.   Wa qaaluu lany-yad-khu-lal-jannata  ’illaa man- kaana Huudan ‘aw Nasaaraa. Tilka ‘amaaniyyu-hum Qul haatuu burhaanakum ‘in-kuntum saadiqiin.  112.   Balaa man  ‘aslama wajha-huu lillaahi wa huwa muhsinun falahuuu ‘ajruhuu  ‘inda Rabbih; wa laa khawfun  ‘alayhim wa laa hum yahzanuun.

Lesson

Amaaniyyu-hum: (their desires) It is plural of Amniah which means desire.

wajha-huu: (his own face) literal meanings of wajhi are face or mouth but often in sentence its meanings are body or person. Here it aims towards these meanings.

The worst depravity of all the previous nations and ancient religious people is that they destroyed the truth making separate groups between themselves which in fact was just one and was bestowed to all equally. Now each group falsifies the other and just imagines itself only the heir of truth. Children of Israel were also involved in this depravity and they thought that the truth is held only with them, only they will proceed to the Heaven. The Holy Qur’an commanded that these are their self made stories and liar desires. They should produce if they have any proof.

Now Holy Qur’an has been revealed so that all the groups may be gathered on this common truth. Piety is only in becoming sincere to Allah Almighty and doing good deeds. None of the groups can claim that she is true and other all are liars. God Almighty Commands that the person who will obey the orders of Allah Almighty and will choose the path of goodness, he will succeed. Doing so neither he will have any grief of his previous life, nor any fear of next happening. It is the sign of Saints of God Almighty’s satisfaction (Servants of Allah Almighty).

Forming Groups Into Religion

Verse –113 of 286, Section – 14 (Part  - 1)

And the Jews say the Christians follow nothing (true), and the Christians say the Jews follow nothing (true); yet both are readers of the Scripture. Even thus speak those who know not. Allah will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that wherein they differ.

Wa  qaalatil-Yahuudu laysatin-Nasaaraa  ‘alaa shay’;  wa qaalatin-Nasaaraa  laysatil-Yahuudu ‘alaa shay-inw, wa hum yatluunal-Kitaab.   Kazaa-lika qaalal-laziina laa ya’-la-muuna misla  qawlihim.   Fal-laahu Yahkumu  baynahum Yawmal-Qiyaamati fii-maa kaanuu fiihi yakhtalifuun.

Lesson

laa ya’-la-muuna – (who know not, illiterate, uneducated, ignorant) here ilm  means knowledge of Heavenly Books, and the persons who do not have the knowledge signify towards the Idolaters and followers of each that religion which has no base on any Heavenly Book.

Baynahum – (between them) it is meant those two groups out of them one is of the Believers and the other is of the Idolaters and Infidels.

All the people of the Scripture are involved in forming religious groups instead of following the teachings and truth bestowed by the Allah Almighty. Each group out of them claims that she is on the straight path and the other all groups have gone astray from the actual way, for instance while the children of Israel saw that the Christians call the Prophet Jesus Christ (peace be upon Him) as son of the God Almighty (I seek refuge in ALLAH), then they began to say them Infidels. And when the Christians saw that the children of Israel have become Disbelievers of the Prophet Jesus Christ (peace be upon Him) they began to say them Infidels, although these both groups recite the Books bestowed by the God Almighty.

The same condition is of those people who have not any Heavenly Book but they have made themselves these faiths that they are on the straight path and other all the religious groups have gone astray from the right path. The Idolaters of the Arabia and other Infidels are included in these people.

The Holy Qur’an commanded that forming of the religious groups is totally useless. The real thing is to obey the orders of Allah Almighty and to do the good acts. That person will be on the straight path who acts upon these two principles. 

LESSON # 117 FROM HOLY QUR’AN

The Persons Who Ruin The Mosques

Verse –114 of 286, Section – 14 (Part  - 1)

And who doth greater wrong than he who forbiddeth the approach to the mosques of Allah lest His name should be mentioned therein, and striveth for their ruin? As for such, it was never meant that they should enter them except in fear. Theirs in the world is ignominy and theirs in the Hereafter is an awful doom.

Wa man  ‘azlamu mim-mam-mana-‘a masaajidallaahi  ‘any-yuzkara fiihasmuhuu wa sa-‘aa fii kharaabihaa ‘Ulaaa-‘ika maa kaana lahum ‘any-yad-khuluuhaaa ‘illaa khaaa-‘i’fiin.  Lahum fid-dunyaa khiz-yunw-wa lahum fil-‘Aakhirati ‘azaabun ‘aziim.

Lesson

Masaajid – (Mosques) it is plural of Masjid which means the place where prayers are offered, place of worship for Muslims. Masjid is derived from the word Sajdah that means ‘Prostration’, to bow the body and place the forehead on the ground. As per sayings by one of the Scholars it means the Inviolable Place of Worship, the temple of Makkah (Masjid-i-Haraam).

For clearness about revelation grace of this verse two happenings are narrated:

•        The Christians waged a war against the children of Israel, burnt the Holy Book Torah and ruined the Temple and city of Jerusalem.

•        The Infidels of Makkah stopped the Muslims to visit the House of Ka’-ba (the temple of Makkah) during sixth Hijra at the place of Hudaibiah only due to their envy.

It had become the limit of religious envious and forming the groups in the religion of the people of the Scripture that respect for places of worship of the other groups had finished from their hearts. They did not hesitate to ruin these sacred places and stopped the people of other groups to enter into their places of worship. Moreover they all claim that they believe on One God.

The religious scholars told that as the places of worship populate with the prayers, it will be supposed destruction of the mosques due to bad deeds and talks. Besides this all those things which become cause of deficiency of the devout and ruin of the places of worship, enter in the order of this verse. So we should abstain from those things due to which the gaiety of the mosques lessens and the people stop to come in the mosques.

Allah Almighty has commanded that it is compulsory for them while they enter the mosque, tremble their hearts due to fear of God but as they don’t stop their depravities so they will get disgraced ignominy in this world and also will get awful doom in the Day of Resurrection. 

LESSON # 118 FROM HOLY QUR’AN

Allah’s Countenance Is On Each Side

Verse –115 of 286, Section – 14 (Part  - 1)

Unto Allah belong the East and the West, and whithersoever ye turn, there is Allah’s Countenance. Lo! Allah is All-Embracing, All-Knowing.

Wa  lillaahil-Mashriqu wal-Magrib;  Fa-‘aynamaa tu-walluu fa-samma waj-hul-laah.  ‘Innallaaha  waasi-‘un ‘Aliim.

Lesson

         

Waj-hu – literally it means Face. Its other meanings are body, person, kind, nature. So it aims that on which side you will turn the God Almighty exists there. Wherever you will go you will find Allah there. The East and the West, the North and the South all belong to Allah Almighty.

During the times of Ignorance the people had faith, “Allah Almighty is also in the detention of Time and place, so we would have to turn our bodies towards that particular side”. They used to suppose that direction themselves and after turning their faces to that side they used to do worship. There was also dispute on this matter between the children of Israel and the Christians themselves. Each religious group had fixed a direction and they meditated this direction better.

The Holy Qur’an refuted this false belief of theirs and commanded that the Allah Almighty is neither limited in any enclosure of the particular place of worship nor He is imprisoned in any place or direction, but wherever He will be called with purity and sincerity He will be attentive. He does not belong particularly to any particular place, particular city or particular direction.

God Almighty neither only likes the East and nor only the West but all the directions are of Him. He has already surrounded the entire Universe. He is unlimited. He is present everywhere. So turning on which place and on which side He will be called with sincerity, He shall be attentive. He knows very well that who calls Him with the true heart and who calls Him only to show the others.

One Revelation Grace of this verse is narrated as that because it is difficult for the traveler and the rider to know the direction of the Temple of Makkah, so for that time it has been commanded that turning on which direction you will do worship, that will be accepted because God Almighty is masterly present on each direction and each place. Accordingly this is the matter that if you do not know the correct direction of the Temple of Makkah, you should offer prayer turning to that side to which your heart witnesses. And if you are riding on any conveyance and direction of conveyance changes, you would have to continue and complete your temporary prayer.

                    

LESSON # 119 FROM HOLY QUR’AN

Allah Hath No Children Of Him

Verse –116 of 286, Section – 14 (Part  - 1)

And they say: Allah hath taken unto Himself a son. Be He glorified! Nay, but whatsoever is in the heavens and the earth is His. All are subservient unto Him.

Wa qaalutta  -khazallaahu  waladan, Subhaanah.  Bal-lahuu  maa fis-samaawaati  wal-‘arz.  Kullul-lahuu  qaanituun.

Lesson

         

In the last verse it was discussed that the concept of children of Israel and the Christians is false about likeness of a particular direction by the God Almighty, “so we should turn to that particular direction for turning towards Him”. Allah Almighty refuted it and commanded that He is not bound in any side or boundary of the place of worship. But He is the Master of the entire Universe and there are no limitations for Him, so you can turn your faces and bodies to any side for His worship. He will be attentive towards you.

Itta  -khaza – (has, have, make, catch, to choose, to elect, to fix upon, to assume, to adopt) translation of all the words is understood as the same.

Qaanituun – (subservient, loyal, servant) Singular to this word is Qaanat which means the person who obeys the order, obedient. The word Qanuut is derived from it. Benediction of the Witr prayer is called the Qanuut prayer because there is complete obeying and obedience of Allah Almighty in it.

The Christians had another false belief that God Almighty has adopted as His son to the Jesus Christ (peace be upon Him) (I seek shelter in Allah from this thought). This faith of theirs’ is the worst kind of plurality in God Almighty. Allah Almighty commands that He is Pure and Sacred from their all these types of false talks of plurality. He has no child. He is One. He is Master of the entire Universe. All that is present in the earth and skies is obedient of His Order. His Emperor is everywhere. His relation with the creature is that the entire universe, demons and the human beings are worshipers and obedient to Him. He is the Worshiped and God of all. All the things in the universe have bent their heads in front of His Order. It is also the human beings’ excellence to bend their heads in front of Him and not to obey anyone else except Him.

  Muslim nation is Flag -holder of Oneness of God and she preaches the faith that infidelity (i.e. ascribing plurality) to Allah is the greatest sin. We should avoid from it and we should believe on the Unity of God by heart.

  

LESSON # 120 FROM HOLY QUR’AN

Be! And It Is

BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)

Verse –117 of 286, Section – 14 (Part  - 1)

The Originator of the heavens and the earth! And when He decreeth a thing, He saith unto it only: Be! And it is.

Badii-‘us-samaawaati  wal-‘arz.  Wa  ‘izaa qazaaa ‘amran- fa- ‘innamaa yaquulu lahuu  “KUN”  fayakuun.

Lesson

         

Badii-‘un – (The Originator without matter and without model/sample). This word has made from the word bada’. The word abdaa’a has also come out from it. That is meant to make anything without matter and without looking any sample/model. Badii’ means An Inventor, Artificer, Artist and Artisan Who is really and truly Originator and Inventor, Who does neither need any tool or instrument, nor any material or goods, nor He is Indigent of model and nor any Instructor/teacher. He may originate/invent every thing wishing either it has its body or sample earlier or not. He may create, originate or invent any thing, any time and any where. He is The Creator of the entire universe, earth and skies.

False faiths and beliefs of the Idolater and Infidel nations have been rejected in this verse. . They imagined that the matter was already in existence prior to becoming it in any shape. Only the God Almighty originated the universe after forming it in an order.

By telling His attribute Badii, Allah Almighty has commanded here that only His essence is ancient eternal and infinite. He has invented all the existence of whose there was no pattern already existing. He has given shape to the disruption of heaven, earth and everything in the universe. For Him it is very easy to create every thing from the very beginning without any pattern and matter.

“KUN” fayakuun - (Be! And it is) to create and invent the universe Allah Almighty has no need of any reason, cause, means, ground and support, just His order and sign is enough. This same reality has been explained in this short sentence.

It is known from this verse that only Allah is The Ancient. There was a time when only He was Being and nothing else existed. Only He created every thing with His Intention. Neither He has felt need of any partner nor helper. Only He is Who gives new shapes/forms to all things. It is wrong faith of materialists that The God Almighty is indigent of any one or He has need of anyone else.

LESSON # 121 FROM HOLY QUR’AN

Evident Proofs

BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)

Verse –118 of 286, Section – 14 (Part  - 1)

And those who have no knowledge say: Why doth not Allah speak unto us, or some sign come unto us? Even thus, as they now speak, spoke those (who were) before them. Their hearts are all alike. We have made clear the Revelations for people who are sure.

Wa qaalal-laziina laa ya’-lamuuna law-laa  yukallimu-nallaahu ‘aw ta’-tiinaaa  ‘Aa-yah. Kazaalika qaalal-laziina min-qablihim – misla  qawlihim.  Tashaabahat quluubuhum. Qad bayyannal-‘aayaati  li-qawminy-yuuqinuun.

Lesson

Al-laziina laa ya’-lamuuna – (those who have no knowledge) it is meant that the persons who are deprived from actual religious knowledge. This verse signifies towards particularly the Infidels/Idolaters.

laa  yukallimu-na – (does not speak with us) it means that why The God Almighty does not speak with them directly without inter-relation of the Prophets and the Messengers (peace be upon Them).

‘Aa-yah – (sign, a verse of the Holy Qur’an) this word has also come as for the “Miracle” in the Holy Qur’an. Here it also aims ‘the Miracle’.

Infidels and idolaters of Makkah claimed the Last Messenger of God Almighty Muhammad (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) that if Allah Almighty talks to the Prophets and the Messengers (peace be upon Them) then why He not talks direct to us. Or why He not sends any strange sign (miracle) for support and authentication of the Last Prophet (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) so that looking it we admit automatically about the truth of Prophet (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him).

Allah Almighty commands that the people before them also said like these things. Standard of sense, spiritual and moral of those people was very low and of these people is also very low. Since hearts of the both are same in not having prudence and gratefulness.  

Replying them for these orders Allah Almighty says, “you have demanded just one miracle, I have already sent many clear miracles, for instance truth, trust, honesty and wisdom of the Last Messenger of God Almighty Muhammad (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him), there is No example of Holy Qur’an from any aspect, your Helplessness in reply to it, Journey of the Last Prophet of God Almighty (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) for Ascension and change of the Moon in two pieces”.

LESSON # 122 FROM HOLY QUR’AN

Responsibility Of The Prophet

(peace be upon Him)

Verse –119 of 286, Section – 14 (Part  - 1)

Lo! We have sent thee (O Muhammad) with the truth, a bringer of glad-tidings and a warner; and thou wilt not be asked about the owners of Hell-fire.

‘Innaaa ‘arsalnaaka bil-haqqi bashiiranw-wa naziiranw,-wa laa tus-‘alu ‘an ‘As-haabil-Jahiim.

Lesson

Bil-haqqi – (with the truth) it means that You have been sent to Guide the human beings towards the Truth. It also means that ‘You always speak the true speeches, provide evident proofs and clear stabilities.

Bashiirun – (a bringer of glad-tidings) that is to say the persons who believe and follow the Orders and Instructions of God Almighty and His Messenger (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) “You bring for them glad-tidings of happiness and betterment in this world and Hereinafter in exchange of their good deeds”.

Naziirun – (The Warner) namely those people who deny and violate “You warn them from their bad results of evil-doing during their present lives and the Day of Resurrection”. These two characteristics of the Last Messenger, Muhammad (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) are very important.

The Infidels and the Idolaters had doubts about Prophet-hood of the Messenger of Allah Almighty and truth of the Holy Qur’an and argued that if The God Almighty can talk with this Messenger (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) then we are also mankind, why does He not talk with us? Or why does He not bestow Him (Muhammad) (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) a great miracle due to which the Prophet-hood and Truth may be proved automatically?

Replying to their criticism the God Almighty commanded, “Do you ask for one miracle? We have bestowed many miracles to Our Messenger (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him), but only those persons will believe Him (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) who are truly desirous of the Truth whole heartedly, believe the Truth and those people will not believe whose point of view is only to produce the doubts.

Allah Almighty has commanded His Messenger (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) , “We have sent You with the True Religion, the people who will follow You, they are Believers, for them You are bringer of glad-tidings for their good acts, however who will not follow You, they are Infidels, they will be thrown into the Hell-fire, You are Warner for them for their bad result. The Messenger’s duty is only to convey the Message of God Almighty. He (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) is not responsible to make Muslim to the Infidels and Idolaters.

Desire Of The Jews And The Christians

Verse –120 of 286, Section – 14 (Part  - 1)

And the Jews will not be pleased with thee, nor will the Christians, till thou follow their creed. Say: Lo! The Guidance of Allah is the Guidance. And if thou shouldst follow their desires after the knowledge which hath come unto thee, then wouldst thou have from Allah no protecting friend nor helper.

Wa lan- tarzaa  ‘ankal- Yahuudu wa lan-Nasaaraa hattaa tattabi-‘a  millatahum.  Qul ‘inna Hudal-laahi huwal-Hudaa.  Wa la-‘init-taba’-ta  ‘ahwaaa-‘ahum ba’-dallazii jaaa-‘aka minal-‘ilmi, maa laka minallaahi minw-waliyyinw-wa laa nasiir.

Lesson

Millatahum – (their creed, religion, faith, routine, practice, way).

‘Ahwaaa-‘ahum – (their desires, wishes) ‘Ahwaaa means those thoughts and opinions foundation of which has not laid on the knowledge or reality but on sensual wishes.

The children of Israel and the Christians were so envious that the Messenger of God Almighty (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) wishing behave them how much with sympathy or show favour, they never used to listen and believe His (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) talk/speech. They only might be pleased when the last Messenger (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) accepts/admits their religion.

God Almighty commands that the true religion and real way of guidance is only that which He has revealed on His Last Prophet (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) that is to say worship of God Almighty and good acts. As much as the groups have been raised separately, they all have been produced by human astray. The persons, who will leave the straight path intentionally, will be punished rigorously and will not find any protecting friend or helper of them.

Two things have been cleared entirely from this verse:

•        The religion of the people of The Scripture has been changed as much that there is nothing remained except their desires and false wishes.

•        The real path is that which has been cleared well by the God Almighty through His Last Messenger (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) for the human beings. 

LESSON # 124 FROM HOLY QUR’AN

Support In The Former Scriptures

Verse –121 of 286, Section – 15 (Part  - 1)

Those unto whom We have given the Scripture, who read it with the right reading. Those believe in it. And whoso disbelieveth in it, those are they who are the losers.

‘Allaziina  ‘aatay-naahu-mul-Kitaaba  yatluunahuu  haqqa tilaawatih.  ‘Ulaaa-‘ika yu’-minuuna bih.  Wa many-yakfur bihii fa-‘ulaaa-‘ika humul-khaasiruun.

Lesson

Haqqa tilaawatih – (with the right reading) tilaawat means reading. Word tuloo is its matter. Literal meaning of this word is ‘to follow’. So this sentence aims that those people who read the Scripture of God Almighty with the right reading. That is to say they also act upon it, they follow the instructions guided in it and they do not decrease or increase in it.  

‘Allaziina  ‘aatay-naahu-mul-Kitaaba – (Those people to whom We have given the Scripture) it signifies towards the children of Israel and the Christians.

Result of making groups in the religion was mentioned in the last verse namely soul of following the teachings of the groups is in action in place of truth-loving and looking the reality. The people do not imagine about a person’s belief and deeds. They only see that the person either belongs to their group or not. While the sense of people becomes so then it is clear that the arguments and proofs can not produce effects. All the proofs become useless for those people desiring how much true and real facts are produced. 

It has been mentioned in today’s lesson that if the people of the Scriptures adopt honesty and friendship/sincerity leaving anger, sensual-ness and stubbornness, and recite their Holly Books whole heartedly then they might be convinced on the truth of Holy Qur’an and the Last Messenger (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him), and will believe the Prophet Muhammad (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him).

The people who change and distort their Holy Books and don’t be attentive with good intentions, they would never be convinced on truth of Holy Qur’an. They are involved in anger, stubbornness, sensual desires and group making. If this were done by them then they will remain involved in infidelity forever. They will use to reject the truth continuously. Resultantly they will suffer loss in this world and will be ruined on the Day of Resurrection.

Hold on the Day of Resurrection

Verse –122 & 123 of 286, Section – 15 (Part  - 1)

122.   O Children of Israel! Remember My favour wherewith I favoured you and how I preferred you to (all) creatures. 123.   And guard (yourselves) against a Day when no soul will in aught avail another, nor will compensation be accepted from it, nor will intercession be of use to it; nor will they be helped.

122.    Yaa-Baniii- ‘Israaa-‘iilaz-kuruu ni’-matiyallatiii ‘an-‘am-tu ‘alaykum wa ‘annii fazzaltukum ‘alal-‘aalamiin. 123.    Wattaquu Yawmal-laa tajzii nafsun ‘an-nafsin- shay-‘anw-wa laa yuqbalu minhaa ‘adlunwa-wa laa tanfa-‘uhaa shafaa-‘atunw-wa laa hum yunsaruun.

Lesson

We have learnt the lessons on these both verses in lesson #55 and 60 (verse – 40 & 47). Recitation about the children of Israel had been commenced from there and till now their scientific doctrinal and practical weaknesses are being explained. They have also been invited towards the Straight Path that is to say Islam. It has been proved through clear and bright evidences that the Last Prophet (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) is on the Truth, a true Prophet, and it is necessary for every person to believe Him (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) and remain steadfast on His teachings. The children of Israel were also instructed to adopt the straight path of Allah Almighty leaving anger, opposition, making religious groups between them and stubbornness.

Now they are being reminded again for those things and notifying consequences of the Day of Resurrection. In this world a person can escape by the help of any other person, reward or penalty and by recommendations or power/emphasis. But to Allah Almighty nothing will be helpful out of these things. Just each person’s own acts and deeds will be helpful there. Tributes, fines, recommendations, friendship or anyone else’s help will become useless on the Doomsday.

Leadership Of The Abraham (peace be upon Him)

Verse –124a of 286, Section – 15 (Part  - 1)

And (remember) when his Lord tried Abraham with (His) commands, and he fulfilled them. He said: Lo! I have appointed thee a leader for mankind. (Abraham) said: And of my offspring (will there be leaders)? He said: My covenant includeth not wrongdoers.

Wa ‘izibtalaaa ‘Ibraahii-ma Rabbuhuu bi-Kalmaatin,  fa- ‘atammahunn. Qaala  ‘Innii  jaa- ‘iluka lin-naasi  ‘Imaamaa.  Qaala  wa min-zurriyyatii.  Qaala laa yanaalu  ‘abdiz-zaa-limiin.

Lesson

Ibraahii-ma: (Abraham) every person knows about the name of this great respectable Prophet (peace be upon Him). He was most glorious grandfather of our Prophet, the Last Messenger of God Almighty, Muhammad (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him).  His native land was Babel and His father’s name was Aazar.  Out of His children two races were grown, one from the children of Prophet Isaac (peace be upon Him) and the other from the children of Prophet Ishmael (peace be upon Him). The Prophets from the first race/series are called Israeli Prophets (peace be upon Them), for example Prophet Solomon (peace be upon Him), Prophet David (peace be upon Him), Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) and Prophet Jesus Christ (peace be upon Him). From the second family there was our Prophet Muhammad (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him).

Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) is called the grandfather of the Prophets (peace be upon Them). Besides the Muslims all others like the children of Israel and Christians respect Him.

Izibtalaaa: (when tried/examined) this word is derived from Baleehi. Its meanings are calamity, testing and trouble. Allah Almighty examined this Prophet of Him (peace be upon Him) with many aspects. For example, Sculptor and Idolater father threatened to let Him get out from his home, His nation frightened to banish from the Country and the King put Him into fire but He didn’t abstain from Islam and remained steadfast on the right path. Then God Almighty commanded to leave His wife and child in the forest and to sacrifice His child also. He obeyed all these orders too. Besides these trials He was tried by some more tests and He succeeded in all.

Imaama: (a leader, a spiritual guide) this leadership of Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) was not only for spiritual and religious guidance but Allah Almighty blessed Him with betterment in politics also. He (peace be upon Him) became a real leader and priest in His times. The People accepted His leadership.

LESSON # 127 FROM HOLY QUR’AN

Heritance Of Leadership/Guidance

Verse –124b of 286, Section – 15 (Part  - 1)

(Abraham) said: And of my offspring (will there be leaders)? He said: My covenant includeth not wrongdoers.

Qaala  wa min-zurriyyatii.  Qaala laa yanaalu  ‘abdiz-zaa-limiin.

Lesson

Zurriyyatii – (my offspring, my children, my generation) the word zurriyyatun has very vast meanings. That is to say in it children, children of the children and so on all are included. Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) had two sons, Prophet Ishmael and Prophet Isaac (peace be upon them). Race of these two Prophets (peace be upon them) became zurriyyatun of the Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him). The God Almighty blessed very much to this dynasty. Countless Prophets (peace be upon Them) were born in this family.

The children of Israel were very proud of their racial superiority. They used to say that they belonged to the race of Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) and it was written in the Torah that God Almighty have blessed and favoured them. It has been cleared through this verse that:

•        The children of Prophet Ishmael (peace be upon Him) are also included in this racial superiority and pride, blessings and favours.

•        The covenant of the God Almighty was only for the persons who had good characters not for those who were of bad characters. Those people who have lost the felicity of belief and good deeds, for them racial superiority can not become reason of distinction.

After straying the ancient nations the God Almighty is laying foundation of the nation (the followers) of His Last Prophet and Messenger Muhammad (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) for the rank of leadership and guidance. So it was necessary that significant history of arising invitation of Holy Qur’an be mentioned.

The glorious and respectable Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) was tried with many different methods by the God Almighty. He (peace be upon Him) was put in test, trouble and calamity but He (peace be upon Him) succeeded in all the examinations, never left patience and firmness. Due to result of this success the God Almighty appointed Him (peace be upon Him) as leader for guidance of the people. The Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) asked about His children (offspring) that “will they be also leaders”? The God Almighty commanded that “My covenant does not include the wrongdoers”. That is to say this rank will be bestowed to your race but with the condition that while they will not be cruel, disobedient and violent. If they adopted this path then this rank “leadership” will be snatched from them.

During a long period the leadership remained in the race of Prophet Abraham’s one son’s children i.e. the children of Israel who was son of Prophet Isaac (peace be upon Them). While they went astray, they did not pay the Right then this leadership was handed over to the Last Messenger Muhammad (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) who was from the children of Prophet Ishmael, the second son of the Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Them). Now it is responsibility of the Muslims to prove themselves that they are able to hold this rank “leadership”.     

   

LESSON # 128 FROM HOLY QUR’AN

Importance Of Ka’ba And Customs Of Pilgrimage

Verse –125 & 128 of 286, Section – 15 (Part  - 1)

And when We made the House (at Makkah) a resort for mankind and Sanctuary, (saying): Take as your place of worship the place where Abraham stood (to pray). And We imposed a duty upon Abraham and Ishmael, (saying): Purify My House for those who go around and those who meditate therein and those who bow down and prostrate themselves (in worship).

Wa ‘iz ja-‘alnal-Bayta masaabatal-Linnaasi wa  ‘am-naa.  Wattakhizuu mim-Ma-qaami  ‘Ibraahiima musallaa.  Wa ‘ahidnaa ‘ilaaa  ‘Ibraa-hiima wa  ‘Ismaa-iila  ‘an- tahhiraa Baytiya  littaaa-‘ifiina wal-‘aa-kifiina war-rukka-is-sujuud.

Lesson

Al-Bayta – {the House (at Makkah)} literal meaning of Bayt is ‘House’. Al-Bayt-Ullaah- al-Haraam  (a Sacred House of God Almighty i.e. Ka’bah). This Square Building is in Makkah, the Respected place. It is the oldest place for worship of God Almighty on the earth. The Holy Qur’an has also proclaimed that it is the first and the oldest place for worship. It is also called Khana Ka’ba, Bayt Ullah and Qibla.  

Masaabatan – (a resort, a place for assembly/gathering) this word is derived from suub that means to return towards its original form. So masaabatan means the place towards which the mankind inclines over and over and never feels discomfort coming back again and again. It is the virtue of Al-Bayt-Ullaah- al-Haraam that the people come in again and again for Hajj (Pilgrimage) and they do not be weary of it.

Linnaasi – (for mankind) it signifies towards common people who come for pilgrimage. The persons from each part of the world, each country and territory assemble around Al-Bayt-Ullaah- al-Haraam each year for Hajj and Umrah (Pilgrimage).

‘Am-naa – (Sanctuary, sacred and protected place) the Building of Ka’ba and its all surrounding area which has been included in Haram, killing any person or hunting any living creature is totally prohibited. Before Islam the killers and criminals used to take shelter between the walls of Khana Ka’ba.

 Ma-qaami  ‘Ibraahiima – (the place where Abraham stood to pray and build the building of Khana Ka’ba). This stone has been saved in a small chamber a little distance away from the building of Khana Ka’ba. After the completion of seven rounds around the Khana Ka’ba during pilgrimage, two rak’at prayers are offered in front of this chamber. This virtue has much future reward.

Musallaa – (place of worship) in Arabic language all those places will be called musallaa where the prayers may be offered.

‘Ahidnaa – (We imposed a duty).

‘Ismaa-iila – (Ishmael) He was the elder son of the Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Them). He had twelve sons and from them twelve races were grown. The famous tribe of Arab “Quraish” is from His (peace be upon Him) race. He is one of the Forefathers of Last Messenger Muhammad (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him). Duty for building the Khana Ka’ba was imposed to Him and His father Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Them).

Tahhiraa – (Purify) this word is derived from Tahaarat that means cleanliness. It includes meaningful cleanliness also besides outward cleanliness, that is to say purify the Khana Ka’ba from un-cleanliness of infidelity and plurality.

Baytiya – (My House) Allah Almighty has called the Khana Ka’ba saying My House. It is intended to disclose the greatness and grandeur of the Khana Ka’ba.

 Ittaaa-‘ifiina – (who go around) at the time of pilgrimage it is the duty to revolve around the House of God Almighty i.e. Khana Ka’ba. It was proclaimed about Oneness of God first of all in the Khana Ka’ba. So revolving around it is like promise with tongue that central spot of our entire lives, all the acts and worships is only the Oneness of God Almighty.

‘Aa-kifiina – (who meditate therein) To necessitate staying at any place for reverence. According to the Divines phrase Ai’-tikaaf means to stay in the mosque for the purpose of worship for a particular period. Ai’-tikaaf is practice of the Prophet Muhammad (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) during the last ten days of the Month of Ramadhan.

It is the beginning about talk of Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) so that it may be proved to the children of Israel, “What were the teachings of Him (peace be upon Him) to whom they accept their forefather and are proud on it?” Then it may also be noted that the God Almighty commanded this glorious and respectable Prophet (peace be upon Him), “You will be made Leader of the people due to your sacrifices but this rank and honour will not be bestowed to evil doers from your race”. Because the children of Israel have left the straight and actual path so snatching from them this honour is being bestowed to the second branch of the Prophet Abraham’s children i.e. children of Ishmael (peace be upon Them).       

  

LESSON # 129 FROM HOLY QUR’AN

BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)

Makkah – A Region Of Security

Verse –126 & 128 of 286, Section – 15 (Part  - 1)

And when Abraham prayed: My Lord! Make this a region of security and bestow upon its people fruits, such of them as believe in Allah and the Last Day. He answered: And as for him who disbelieveth, I shall leave him in contentment for a while, then I shall compel him to the doom of Fire---a hapless journey’s end!

Wa ‘iz qaala ‘Ibraahiimu Rabbij-‘al haazaa Baladan ‘Aaminanw – warzuq ‘ahlahuu minas-samaraati man ‘aamana minhum, billaahi wal-Yawmil- ‘Aakhir.  Qaala wa man-kafara fa-‘umatti-‘uhuu qaliilan- summa ‘aztarruhuuu  ‘ilaa  ‘azaabin-Naar. Wa bi’-sal-masiir.

Lesson

Qaliilan – (for a while, a few days) it is meant the life of this world. Because comparing to the Doomsday the life of this world is like ‘for a while’.

Fa-‘umatti-‘uhuu – (I shall leave him in contentment, I shall do well to him also) this word is derived from Mataa’, that means Goods, valuables.

While the Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) completed the construction work of the Temple of Makkah, Ka’ba then He (peace be upon Him) prayed from God Almighty as under:

•        Make this (Building, Its City and Its Surroundings) a Region of Security

•        Bestow upon its people fruits, such of them as believe in Allah and the Last Day.

His both the prayers were approved. So the Building of Ka’ba and its all surrounding area which has been included in Haram, killing any person or hunting any living creature is totally prohibited. Before Islam the killers and criminals used to take shelter between the walls of Khana Ka’ba. Although all the land is stony and sandy but fresh and dry fruit, vegetables and grains are available here each time abundantly.

The Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) was told that the cruel and evildoers will be disappointed from the rank of Leadership. He (peace be upon Him) remembered this order and at the time of prayer for bestowing grains and fruit, prayed only for the Believers. The God Almighty commanded, “Religious Leadership is specified only for the Believers and the Obedient. However the disbelievers and Infidels will also be not forfeited from worldly lives. But they will get these things for a short period only during their lifetime. After death on the Day of Resurrection they will be thrown into the Hell-Fire as punishment of their disobedience, which is very bad abode.   

LESSON # 130 FROM HOLY QUR’AN

Prayer For The Muslim Nation (Ummah)

Verse –127 & 128 of 286, Section – 15 (Part  - 1)

127.  And when Abraham and Ishmael were raising the foundations of the House, (Abraham and Ishmael prayed): Our Lord! Accept from us (this duty) Lo! Thou, only Thou, art the Hearer, the Knower. 128.  Our Lord! And make us submissive unto Thee and of our seed a nation submissive unto Thee, and show us our ways of worship, and relent toward us. Lo! Thou, only Thou, art the Relenting, the Merciful.

127.  Wa ‘iz yarfa-‘u ‘Ibraa-hiimul-qawaa-‘ida minal-Bayti wa ‘Ismaa-‘iil.  Rabbanaa ta-qabbal minnaa ‘Innaka ‘An-tas-Samii-‘ul-‘Aliim. 128.  Rabbanaa waj-‘alnaa Muslimayni laka wa min-zur-riyyatinaaa    ‘Ummatam-Mus-limatal-lak; wa ‘arinaa ma-naasikanaa wa tub ‘alaynaa ‘Innaka ‘Antat-Tawwaabur-Rahiim.

Lesson

Yarfa-‘u – (were raising) foundation of the Building of Ka’-ba had been laid by the Prophet Adam (peace be upon Him) during His era. This building had ended after being infirm. So now it was being raised again from the beginning. The word yarfa-‘u has been derived from the word rafa-’a. It is used in the meanings of to elevate, to raise and lift up etc.

Muslimayni – (Obedients) it aims toward two meanings.

•        The Believers of the Oneness of God Almighty.

•        Those persons who remain bound in the common instructions and orders of Islam.

The Prophets Abraham and Ishmael (peace be upon Them) were already Muslims also at that time. Aim of this prayer was “increase our obedience and keep us firm”. Its singular is Muslim. Islam is also from its matter. The literal meanings of Muslim are ‘well wisher, security provider, submissive and obedient.

‘Ummatam-Mus-limatan – (Submissive group/class) ‘Ummat means group and class. Mus-limah means submissive, obedient. It may be applied completely and only on the nation of Last Messenger of God Almighty (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him).

Ma-naasikanaa – (our ways of worship to perform Pilgrimage) it means the religious methods particularly performing Hajj. These are also called the customs of Hajj.

While the Prophets Abraham and Ishmael (peace be upon Them) were raising the foundations of the Ka’-ba, alongside they were praying, “Our Lord! Accept from us (this duty) Lo! Thou, only Thou, art the Hearer, the Knower. Our Lord! And make us submissive unto Thee and of our seed a nation submissive unto Thee, and show us our ways of worship, and relent toward us. Lo! Thou, only Thou, art the Relenting, the Merciful”.

Four Characteristics Of The Last Messenger

(Glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him)

Verse –129 of 286, Section – 15 (Part  - 1)

Our Lord! And raise up in their midst a Messenger from among them who shall recite unto them Thy Revelations, and shall instruct them in the Scripture and in Wisdom and shall make them grow. Lo! Thou, only Thou, art the Mighty, Wise.

Rabbanaa wab-‘as fiihim Rasuulam-minhum  yatluu  ‘alayhim  ‘Aayaatika wa yu-‘allimuhumul- Kitaaba  wal-Hikmata wa yuzakkiihim  ‘Innaka  ‘Antal-‘Aziizul-Hakiim.

Lesson

Minhum – (from among them) the Prophets Abraham and Ishmael (peace be upon Them) are praying collectively, “O our Lord! Produce a Submissive group/class out of the race from both of us and also raise up a Messenger from among them. It is evident clearly that it signifies towards the race out of the Prophet Ishmael (peace be upon Him). The God Almighty accepted their prayer and the Last Messenger of God Almighty, Muhammad (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) was born out of the children of Prophet Ishmael (peace be upon Him).

Yatluu  ‘alayhim  ‘Aayaatika – (He shall recite unto them Thy Revelations). The first work of the Messenger of Allah Almighty (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) is recitation of verses of Holy Qur’an in front of His nation. That is to say ‘to convey and teach the Speech of Allah Almighty. As though, His first status/position is the Greatest Preacher.

Yu-‘allimuhumul- Kitaaba – (He shall instruct them in the Scripture, teach them The Book) the work of Messenger of God Almighty (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) does not end only on preaching and conveying, It is also His duty to teach the Holy Book of God Almighty after preaching and conveying. As it were, His second status/position is the Greatest Teacher.

Al-Hikmata – (Talks of Wisdom) Third work of the Prophet of God Almighty is to teach wisdom and philosophy, to admonish orders and matters relating Holy Qur’an, to teach etiquettes, to tell the solution of various and complicated matters regarding the life in Its light as though, His third status is the greatest religious and spiritual Guide. 

Yuzakkiihim – (He shall make them grow, shall purify them) Tazkiah means the purification of the hearts. Fourth work of the Messenger of God Almighty (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) is to produce chastity of morality and sincerity of intentions with His company and training. That is to say, He is the greatest Antidote and Reformer.  

The Prophet Abraham and His son Prophet Ishmael (peace be upon Them) used to pray from Allah Almighty during the construction of Khana Ka’-ba, “O Our Lord! Produce a Submissive nation from our race, raise up a Messenger from among them, He would have four characteristics:

He (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) would recite, teach and admonish the Book of Allah to the people, and through It purify the hearts. That is to say, He would be Preacher, Teacher, religious and spiritual Guide, and Reformer”. The Last Messenger of God Almighty (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) rose to the situation of all these things.

The Religion of Prophet Abraham

(peace be upon Him)

Verse –130 of 286, Section – 16 (Part  - 1)

And who forsaketh the religion of Abraham save him who befooleth himself? And verily We chose him in the world, and lo! In the Hereafter he is among the righteous.

Wa many-yargabu ‘am-Millati ‘Ibraahiima ‘illaa man safiha nafsah. Wa laqadista-faynaahu  fiddunyaa. Wa ‘inna-huu fil-‘Aakhirati laminas-Saalihiin.

Lesson

Yargabu – (forsake, shake off) this word is derived from the word raghbat, which means ‘to incline to; to turn, to attend to, to favour to. When ‘an comes with this word then meanings become on the contrary to this word that is to say, go opposite to someone or to turn.

In this verse the God Almighty has commanded that religious sect of the Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) is straight on the religion of nature/wisdom. Its teachings interpret the nature of cool-minded. Only that person will oppose it whose nature has not remained moderated and has changed from good to bad.

Religious sect of Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) is the same religion which is being invited by Islam today. Here religion Islam has been named as the religious sect of Abraham that the children of Israel and Christians are being addressed here, and it is intended to tell them that Holy Qur’an does not invite you to any new religion. You are being invited towards the religion of your own honorable forefather and spiritual guide Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him).

The children of Israel and the Christians had not left any stone unturned to invent the self made and false tales about their innocent Prophets (peace bee upon Them). The Holy Qur’an refutes their blames. Wherever the Prophets (peace be upon Them) are mentioned, It (the Holy Qur’an) also mentions their moral and spiritual magnificence.

Here it has been commanded about the Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) that the God Almighty had chosen Him for every kind of blessings of the world due to His belief that the worshipped of Oneness and having faith on Allah Almighty. He was bestowed the honor of Messenger and Prophet. He was fixed as religious and spiritual guide of the people in the world, and surely He will be counted in the good and virtuous people on the Day of Resurrection.

The purpose of mentioning about greatness and magnificence of the Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) is to tell the children of Israel and the Christians that the Prophet whom they admit as the great, glorious and honorable guide, His religion was also Islam, which is being presented by the Last Prophet Muhammad (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him). If they take Him as their religious leader then they should accept Islam. This is the only way of their forefathers.

Prophet Abraham Enjoined To His Sons

(peace be upon Them)

Verse –131 & 132 of 286, Section – 16 (Part  - 1)

131.  When his Lord said unto him: Surrender! He said: I have surrendered to the Lord of the Worlds. 132.  And the same did Abraham enjoin upon his sons, and also Jacob, (saying): O my sons! Lo! Allah hath chosen for you the (true) religion, therefore die not save as men who have surrendered (unto Him).

131.  ‘Iz qaala lahuu Rabbu-huuu ‘aslim, qaala ‘aslamtu li-Rabbil- ‘Aalamiin. 132.  Wa wassaa bihaaa  ‘Ibraahiimu  baniihi wa Ya’-quub. Yaa-baniyya  ‘innallaahas-tafaa  lakumud-Diina falaa tamuu-tunna  ‘illaa wa  ‘antum-Muslimuun.

Lesson

‘Aslim – (Surrender, be obedient) other meanings are ‘Embrace Islam’, that is to say, “Give yourself completely in the charge of One God Almighty”. Accept His entire orders and consider your duty to obey His all the Orders in each matter of your life. Islam is also derived from this word, which has basic meanings ‘to provide peace, to wish well-being and safety, to yield”. 

Ya’-quub – (the Prophet Jacob (peace be upon Him) He was grandson of the Prophet Abraham and son of the Prophet Isaac (peace be upon Them). His surname was the Israel. So His (peace be upon Him) children were named as the children of Israel.

As-tafaa – (has chosen) astafa means to choose, to purify from the adulteration. The word Mus-tafaa has also come out from it, which means ‘chosen, respectable and selected’.

All the people of the Scripture and the Idolaters of Makkah used to claim that they embrace the religion of their Ancestors. They shall remain on it forever. And they shall never embrace any fresh religion. The Holy Qur’an told these people mentioning about The Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) that the Ancestors to whom you believe and of which the religion you claim to follow, They have already instructed their followers/race to follow the religion to which They were following Themselves, that is the religion of the Oneness of God and Islamic nation. So if you admit Them as your religious leaders then know! that Their real religion was the religion to which Holy Qur’an is inviting you. Now you should believe it. Prophet Abraham and Prophet Jacob (peace be upon Them) have advised their children to die obeying Allah Almighty. Time of the death is uncertain. That’s why it means, “remain Muslims always and give place to the Faith in your hearts each time”.

Worship Of One God – Reply Of Jews

Verse –133 of 286, Section – 16 (Part  - 1)

Or were ye present when death came to Jacob, when he said unto his sons: What will ye worship after me? They said: We shall worship thy God, the God of thy fathers, Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac, One God, and unto Him we have surrendered.

‘Am kuntum shuha-daaa-a’  ‘iz hazara  Ya’-quubal-mawtu,  ‘iz qaala li-baniihi  maa ta’-buduuna mim- ba’dii.  Qaaluu na’-budu ‘Ilaahaka wa ‘Ilaaha  ‘aabaaa-‘ika  ‘Ibraahiima wa ‘Ismaa-‘iila Wa ‘Ishaaqa  ‘Ilaahanw-Waa-hidaa. Wa nahnu   lahuu Muslimuun.

Lesson

Hazara  Ya’-quubal-mawtu – (death came to Jacob) it is meant that when the time of death reached near and the Prophet Jacob (peace be upon Him) viewed its signs.  

‘Ishaaqa – (Isaac) He was second son of Prophet Abraham and younger brother of Prophet Ishmael. His mother named Sara was the first wife of Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Them).

In this verse the children of Israel are being addressed that, “As you say about your self made talks that these are from our Ancestors and refuse to embrace Islam, Were you present at that time when the Prophet Jacob (peace be upon Him) asked before death from His sons about the Worshipped and they replied that we shall do worship of that Worshipped whose worship was being done by your grandfather the Prophet Abraham, your father’s brother the Prophet Ishmael and your father Prophet Isaac” (peace be upon Them).

Today while the Holy Qur’an is inviting the people of the Scripture towards the same religion, they are turning their faces from it and going astray.

That religion which was adopted by the Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) and towards which the Holy Qur’an is inviting today, that is verily the worship of One God and well-doings. Which individual or nation will turn face from these two basic principles, it will go astray and fell away far from the religion of Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him), he will be forfeited from getting the Right of Guidance.

Own Good Acts Will Be Useful

Verse –134 of 286, Section – 16 (Part  - 1)

Those are a people who have passed away. Theirs is that which they earned, and yours is that which ye earn. And ye will not be asked of what they used to do

Tilka ‘ummatun- qad khalat. Lahaa maa kasabat wa lakum- maa kasabtum. Wa laa tus-‘aluuna ‘ammaa kaanuu ya’-maloon.

Lesson

Tilka ‘ummatun – (Those are a people, a religious sect) it signifies towards the Ancestors of the children of Israel, of whom they used to get names and used to claim as their followers, although this claim of theirs was wrong. These astray, unlucky people had no relation with those great respectable Prophets (peace be upon Them) except their names.

The children of Israel were much proud that they were from the race of Prophets (peace be upon Them). So they had made this false faith themselves that there is no need of personal good acts. It is sufficient for freedom from the Hell being out of the children of the Prophets (peace be upon Them). They thought that the God Almighty transfers the good acts of father towards children with His blessing. Due to this wrong faith they had become careless entirely from doing the good acts, and had involved in all kinds of sins, evildoings and disobedience.

The Holy Qur’an cut the root of their false belief and commanded about the law of God Almighty that each individual and group will get what he has earned himself. Neither the good act of someone reaches the other nor will anyone be answerable for evildoing of the others. Relationship of the Ancestors will neither be useful without one’s personal try and nor freedom can be gotten. There is great lesson for them who have been fallen into the trap of misunderstanding, “Although we have not done good acts, even then the good acts of our Ancestors will be useful for us, and our this world and Hereafter will be arranged”. The Holy Qur’an tells that from good acts of your Ancestors you can not get advantage. You should take care yourself and follow Them. Their lives are roll model of good acts for you. By following them you will be able to do good deeds.

Out of us if any body will be involved in this misunderstanding that greatness of good birth or relation with any pious person may be sufficient for him then he should let this thought to get out from his heart. Only one’s personal deeds will be useful in front of Allah Almighty. All the human beings will be responsible for their duties and responsibilities.

The Religion Of Abraham

(peace be upon Him)

Verse –135 of 286, Section – 16 (Part  - 1)

And they say: Be Jews or Christians, then ye will be rightly guided. Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Nay, but (we follow) the religion of Abraham, the upright, and he was not of the idolaters.

Wa qaaluu kuunuu Huu-dan ‘aw Nasaaraa tahtaduu. Qul bal Millata ‘Ibraa-hiima Haniifaa. Wa maa kaana minal-mushrikiin.

Lesson

Millata ‘Ibraa-hiima – (the religion of Abraham) it aims those particular rules and regulations which were issued by the Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) and a society assembled upon these principles.

Haniifaa - (the upright) during the period of Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) the people used to worship different things and deemed that their all businesses run through them. The Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) invited them towards the worship of one God setting free from all others and adopted one God Himself too giving up all others. So He (peace be upon Him) was given the title of “the Upright”.

The Holy Qur’an refuted all liar beliefs of the Idolaters and the people of the Scripture, proved false their arguments and invited them to accept the Truth with bright and clear proofs. The children of Israel and the Christians must have embraced the true and simple teachings of the Holy Qur’an but instead they chose the path of opposition and violence, and on the contrary they used to invite the Muslims towards the Jewish religion and the Christianity. They used to say the Muslims, “Embrace our religion; you will get success in this world and Hereafter. The God Almighty commanded the Messenger of Allah Almighty (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) to reply them from the side of the entire Muslim nation against their invitation, “O the people of the Scripture! You have made uncountable changes in your Books and Divine Laws of your religions and our religion has been established only on that ancient Oneness of God’s religion, which was of the Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him). We are firm on that particular religion and we have not made any change in it”.

 Another thing, “With which face do you relate your religion towards the Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) while He (peace be upon Him) never did go near the plurality? He had pure belief on Oneness of the God Almighty, whereas your religion has been filled with the filth of pluralities. How may you be the claimers of true religion and freedom?

LESSON # 137 FROM HOLY QUR’AN

BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)

Belief On All The Prophets (peace be upon Them)

Verse –136 of 286, Section – 16 (Part  - 1)

Say (O Muslims): We believe in Allah and that which is revealed unto us and that which was revealed unto Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac, and Jacob, and the tribes, and that which Moses and Jesus received, and that which the Prophets received   from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and unto Him we have surrendered.

Quuluuu ‘aamannaa bil-laahi wa maaa ‘unzila  ‘ilaynaa  wa maa ‘unzila ‘ilaaa ‘Ibraa-hiima wa ‘Ismaa-iila wa ‘Is-haaqa wa Ya’-quuba wal-‘as-baati wa maaa ‘uutiya Muusaa wa ‘Iisaa wa maaa ‘uutiyan-nabiyyuuna mir-Rabbihim. Laa nufarriqu bayna ‘ahadim-minhum, wa nahnu lahuu Muslimuun.

Lesson

Al-‘as-baati – (the children) this word is plural of the word sabt, which means children, that is to say, children of the children (grandsons from forefathers and foremothers). Here it aims towards the race of Prophet Jacob (peace be upon Him).

The Muslims are being taught in this verse, “Say: O people of the Scripture! You have fallen in the curses of anger, stubbornness, violence, jealousy, malice and bigotry. You follow some Prophets and falsify some of Them (peace be upon Them). You reserve the prophet-hood with the race and nation. You take greatness due to race for source of freedom, and fix as wrong to all the religions except your own.

We, the Muslims believe that all the Prophets (peace be upon Them) are true, do not disagree to anyone of Them. All the Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon Them), who have come in this world, desiring, they belong to any country, any nation and any era, they all brought the only one Message of Truth. We verify all of Them (peace be upon Them) equally. 

      

LESSON # 138 FROM HOLY QUR’AN

BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)

Allah Almighty Is Suffice  

Verse –137 of 286, Section – 16 (Part  - 1)

And if they believe in the like of that which ye believe, then are they rightly guided. And if they turn away, then they are in schism, so Allah will suffice thee (for defence) against them. And He is the Hearer, the Knower.

Fa-‘in  ‘aamanuu  bi-misli maaa ‘aamantum- bihii faqa-dihta-daw. Wa ‘in- tawallaw fa-‘innamaa hum fii shiqaaq. Fa-sa-yakfiikahumullaah.  Wa Huwas-Samii-ul-‘Aliim.

Lesson

The Holy Qur’an invited the people of the Scripture to embrace Islam after proving its Truth and being Speech of Allah Almighty, refuted their false beliefs, wrong hopes and desires were determined absurd, and proved from their own arguments that due to which religion of Abraham (peace be upon Him) they claim to be firm, its original shape has not remained as it was. Now that ancient religion in its original shape is being presented by the Holy Qur’an. So some how or other, after embracing Islam they should get betterment of the religion and the world.

After hearing these speeches of advice and preaching even then the children of Israel and the Christians remained firm on violence and opposite. Moreover instead of embracing Islam themselves, they used to invite the Muslims to adopt the Jewish religion and the Christianity. What can be more selfishness, impudence and bigotry from it? 

Allah Almighty commands in this verse, “(O Messenger! (May glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) You have completed your duty conveying Our Message to them. Now if they wish their good then they should embrace Islam, they will succeed. We shall forgive their previous sins”. “And if they believe in the like of that which ye believe, then are they rightly guided. And if they turn away, then they are in schism”, it is their hard heartedness and violence, and not other than it.  “So Allah will suffice thee (for defence) against them. And He is the Hearer, the Knower”. (You (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) should not be sorrowful due to their anger, bigotry and enmity. We are sufficient for their encounter from your side. We surely hear their entire speeches and We know that which is in their hearts, their inside and outside.

How great and higher glad-tidings is in the last part of this verse for the Last Messenger (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) and His nation that “So Allah will suffice thee (for defence) against them”. With whom be Allah Almighty then what more he will need. If the Lord Merciful becomes Patron of anyone then he does not require any more Supporters.

LESSON # 139 FROM HOLY QUR’AN

Colors Of Allah Almighty  

Verse –138 & 139 of 286, Section – 16 (Part  - 1)

138.  (We take our) colour from Allah, and who is better than Allah at colouring. And we are His worshippers. 139.  Say (unto the People of the Scripture): Dispute ye with us concerning Allah when He is our Lord and your Lord? Ours are our works and yours your work. And we look to Him alone.

138.  Sibgatallaah. Wa man ‘ahsanu minallaahi sibgah. Wa nahnu lahuu ‘aabiduun. 139.  Qul ‘atu-haaajjuu-nanaa fillaahi wa Huwa Rabbunaa wa Rabbukum. Wa lanaaa ‘a-maa-lunaa wa lakum ‘a-maalukum. Wa nahnu lahuu mukh-lisoon.

Lesson

Sibgatallaah - (We take our) colour from Allah. It aims “the religion of Allah”. According to usage one word “Qabilnaa” (we embraced) is not found in the proper place, however it is meant that we embraced the religion of God Almighty.

The People of the Scripture (the children of Israel and the Christians) cause their children sit down in the colored water and while a person embraces the religion of Christianity then they sprinkle over him the colored water. That is called “Ista-baagh” means ‘Baptism’. As if, near to them the color of Christianity is taken from water. The real color in fact grows with Faith and Character.     

Contrary to above it is commanded that we have taken over the color from God Almighty. The Messenger of God Almighty (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) said, “Convey the name of every child’s name in his ear as soon as he bears”. Accordingly after birth the Azaan is recited in his right ear and along with it ‘qad qaama-tis-Salaah’ (twice) i.e. ‘Takbeer’ in the left ear. It is the call for him towards the natural religion. Comparatively custom of cause to sit down in the water is meaningless.

The People of the Scripture are again warned that their thought and faith is entirely wrong, base of which is that they say, “Blessing and Mercy of God Almighty is only for them”. As He is your Lord, He is ours too and which acts we do those are purely for Him. Like you we neither pass our lives sinfully and evildoing considering that the good deeds of your pious persons will be sufficient also for you and nor we take work from bigotry and sensual-ness. Then why our Lord Almighty will not accept our good acts.     

 LESSON # 140 FROM HOLY QUR’AN

BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)

Do Not Hide The Testimony  

Verse –140 of 286, Section – 16 (Part  - 1)

Or say ye that Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac, and Jacob, and the tribes were Jews or Christians? Say: Do ye know best, or doth Allah? And who is more unjust than he who hideth a testimony which he hath received from Allah? And Allah is not Unaware of what ye do.

‘Am taquuluuna ‘inna ‘Ibraahiima wa ‘Ismaa-‘iila wa ‘Is-haaqa wa Ya’-quuba wal-‘Asbaata kaanuu Huudan ‘aw Nasaaraa.  Qul ‘a-‘antum ‘a’-lamu ‘amillaah. Wa man ‘azlamu mimman-katama shahaadatan ‘indahuu minal-laah. Wa mallaahuu bi-gaafilin ‘ammaa ta’-maluun.

Lesson

In this verse the Children of Israel and the Christians have been replied for another misunderstanding and self made beliefs. They had thought that their Reverends, the Prophets Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob (peace be upon Them) and Their children were either the followers of Jewish religion or the Christianity, namely (I seek shelter of Allah Almighty) they had also fallen in the sectarian groups.

The God Almighty commands, O the People of the Scripture! You may consider how much you wish after changing the shapes of the Truths and spoiling the happenings but it is the fact that these all Reverend persons and Prophets (peace be upon Them) remained firm on the pure religion of Oneness of God themselves and as well as they established the others to remain on it. It is called Islam. Your knowledge is neither more than the God Almighty and even nor is equal to Him. But your knowledge has no comparison to His knowledge. You use to hide the Truths intentionally. The Holy Books have been revealed near to you, which verify that the religion Islam is Rightful. The Prophets Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac and Jacob (peace be upon Them) were perfect Believers and the followers of Oneness that is to say Islam. It has also been written in your Books that at the end of the era a Messenger Rightful (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) will come. Knowingly you are hiding this Real and True Speech, and who will be crueler than him who hides the rightful talk.

We have known from this verse that it is the greatest sin near to Allah Almighty to hide the Truth and real facts. We should escape ourselves from it.     

LESSON # 141 FROM HOLY QUR’AN

BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)

Yours Is That Which You Earn

Verse –141 of 286, Section – 16 (Part  - 1)

Those are a people who have passed away; theirs is that which they earned and yours that which ye earn. And ye will not be asked of what they used to do.

Tilka ‘Ummatun-  qad khalat. Lahaa maa kasabat wa la-kum-maa kasabtum. Wa laa tus-‘aluuna ‘ammaa kaanuu ya’-maluun.

Lesson

We have already learnt this verse in the past and now it is being repeated again to warn the children of Israel and the Christians. Their wrong beliefs have been rejected with the proof of common sense in it.  

The People of the Scripture were much pride on it that they are from the race of the Prophets (peace be upon Them), who are extremely Accepted Servants of the God Almighty. So they will not be caught on their sins. Also the good acts of their Reverends will be useful for them and they will be forgiven freely. So they did not feel any particular need to escape themselves from the sins and to incline towards the goodness.

Under the effect of this wrong belief they used to keep right to the sins and the matters against the religion. And they did not use to distinguish between goodness and badness in their daily lives. They also thought that they are on the path on which their reverends were already firm so they have no need to believe on the last Messenger, Muhammad (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him). 

The God Almighty rendered final null and void to their wrong religious trends and commanded that He knows well about those people who have passed away. They were firm on the foundation of Unity. They were neither the Jews and nor Christians. They were only of Allah Almighty leaving all others.

Their goodness can not be useful for you or any other person. Only that goodness is useful for any person or nation which they earned. Good acts of a person can neither escape the other and nor harm to anyone. So it is stupidity to trust on the acts of others.

When a nation uses to sit down, trusting on the heir of their Reverends and leaving to do good acts, it becomes impossible for that nation to live, to achieve success and betterment. Many nations have been ruined due to this misunderstanding. O Allah Almighty! Keep us on the true religious trends and bestow us strength to do the good acts.

Summary Of Lessons From Part - 1

Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds that we have completed First Part of the Holy Qu’an lesson by lesson with the Mercy and Favors of God Almighty. Now we are going to discuss the summary of all its lessons so that comprehension of the Holy Qur’an may be understood in a few words.

It was stated in the introduction of Surah Baqarah (The Cow) that topic of this Surah is to teach the Muslims which may produce sound character and behavior into them after this learning. Following their religion and morality they may get utmost success and victory of this world and Hereinafter. It was necessary to teach them about pure religion and code of good morality that difference between religions, customs and beliefs be effaced of all the nations and religious sects which are populated in the world, their weaknesses be disclosed and they be taught about the Straight Path.

At first it has been explained about the necessity of inspiration and revelation in the First Part of Holy Qur’an and stated that this Scripture is a revealed Holy Book. The person who will embrace Its teachings and obey its orders, will find the Straight Path and will succeed.

Then it was told that three types of the people will grow in reply to the Holy Qur’an:

•        Those persons who will accept the teachings of Holy Qur’an and will be bound on its orders/instructions. They will get each type of success.

•        Those, who will strictly oppose it and will keep enmity with its Believers, these Infidels will be entitled to heavy agony and anguish.

•        Those people who will belong to above both groups, Muslim in the Muslims and Infidel in the Infidels. They will get painful agony.

Then after advising the Infidels and the Hypocrites their attention is drawn towards the Law of Allah Almighty and have been told that only those persons criticize the Revelation who have three types of diseases into them:

•        Weak faith

•        Feeble nature

•        Mean wisdom

Then it is told that the religion is filled in the nature of mankind. So it is the compulsion of the human being to bow in front of the revelation of God Almighty. Accordingly when the Prophet Adam (peace be upon Him) was appointed as Caliph and then was sent on the earth, He (peace be upon Him) remained confused. God Almighty revealed on Him some Words, which became cause of satisfaction of His heart (peace be upon Him).

After then it was enlightened on the necessity of the Holy Qur’an. In this subject three defects of the Jews were narrated:

•        Doctrinal

•        Practical

•        Administrative

And they were informed that they had involved in evildoings and misdeeds, so the Sovereignty was snatched from them. After this, it has been stated that they can not do the work of invitation and command to be mingled with the Muslims too. Under this subject, wrong beliefs and false-loving of their people, scholars and rich men have been mentioned.

Then it has been explained that the children of Israel are not able to become gentle public of the Muslims. So the Muslims have been told to discontinue their relations with them.

After that, memory of the prayer of Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him), construction of Khana Ka’-ba (the Temple of Makkah), Divine Mission of the last Messenger of God Almighty (Muhammad), His (may glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) morality, good manners, courtesy and Muslim Ummah (nation) has been explained.
