LESSON # 55 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Favour Of God On The Children Of Israel
Verse – 40 of 286, Section – 5 (Part - 1)
O Children of Israel! Remember
My favour wherewith I favoured you, and
fulfil your (part of the) covenant, I shall fulfil My (part of the) covenant,

Lesson
Now with effect from the fifth section of
this Surah explanation regarding history of the children of Israel (Israelite), their high positions (ranks), their
errors, sins and snatch of favours begins. This portion of Holy Qur’aan needs
special attention to study. There are many opportunities of warning and advice
for Muslims in the history of Israelite so that we may save ourselves from
those errors, slips and mistakes due to which this splendid nation was ruined
and became the target of calamity of God Almighty.
Baniii- (children) ‘Israaa- (servant) ‘iil (God) – (Children
of Israel)
Israel was the surname of Prophet Jacob (Peace be upon Him) so His children and
dynasty was given the title of “Baniii- ‘Israaa-‘iil”. They are also called
Jews.
Race of Baniii- ‘Israaa-‘iil actually
starts from the Prophet Abraham (Peace be upon Him). He had two sons:
(1) Prophet Ishmael (Peace be upon
Him) populated Hijaz (Makkah) and the last Messenger of God Muhammad (Peace and
blessings upon Him) was born in His dynasty.
(2) Second son was Prophet Isaac
(peace be upon Him). His son’s name was Jacob (Peace be upon Him) who was named
as Baniii- ‘Israaa-‘iil. His children were populated in Palestine (Jerusalem).
These people engaged themselves in the
fights and quarrels. After some time Egyptians overcame them, kept them as
slaves and tyrannized them. At last the Prophet Moses (Peace be upon Him) was
born and He made away this nation from the slavery of Egyptians towards Siena Valley.
After some time these people returned to
their native land Kin’aan. The best era of this nation was the period of
Prophets David and Suleiman (Peace be upon Them). After Them this dynasty
became victim of calamities due to enmity with the Prophets (Peace be upon
Them), opposing the religion and disunion between themselves.
This nation was attacked severely twice
and even destructed that they were forced to leave their native country, ran
away here and there. But with sorrow they didn’t abstain from their depravity
and badness. Till now these evils are present in that nation.
Ni’-mati - (My favour) means those favours and blessings of Allah, which He had
bestowed on Jews, for example, caused to get free from torment of the slavery,
drowned their enemy pharaoh, made their way to cross the red sea, provided them
“Mann-o- Salwaa” the delicious food without any hard work and labor, helped
them unseen in hardships etc.
‘Ahdiii - My (part of the) covenant. Covenant is
a promise between two parties. Here covenant means the promise which servants
(Human beings) finalized with their Creator before coming in this world. As
Allah Almighty bestowed wisdom to humans, granted power to consider about signs
of His nature and then the human has taken responsibility of knowing his
Creator, will believe on the Prophets sent by God Almighty and will follow the
guidance of Allah. In return Allah Almighty promised that they will be bestowed
Heaven.
Farhabuun - (fear from Me) means fear none
but Allah Almighty and keep it in mind.
Allah Almighty promised with Adam after
his birth and sending on earth that He will send his Prophets for his children
according to the occasions and will convey His own guidance and instructions
through Them to his servants. Prophets (peace be upon them) came according to
this covenant. Hadrat Muhammad (peace be upon Him) was sent as the last of all.
The religion bestowed to Him is a universal religion. So from this section the
series of the preaching of religion Islam begins.
Jews were aware of the religion of God
Almighty, so they are being addressed particularly first of all. And they are
being reminded that their elders have seen blessings of the religion of Allah
and they know about it. Now believe on this last Prophet (Peace and blessings upon
Him), so that you may be eligible for the same blessings again. If you will do
this then it will be considered that you have fulfilled your covenant and in
return Allah will fulfill His covenant. Your sins will be forgiven and you will
be bestowed success in this world and on the day of Resurrection.
LESSON # 56 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Invitation Of Holy Qur’aan
Verse – 41 of 286, Section – 5 (Part - 1)
And believe in that which I have
revealed, confirming that which ye possess already (of the Scripture), and be
not first to disbelieve therein, and part not with My Revelations for a
trifling price, and keep your duty unto Me.
|
Wa ‘aaminuu bimaaa ‘an-zaltu
musaddiqal-limaa ma-‘a-kum wa laa takuunuuu ‘aw-wala kaafirim-bih. Wa laa
tash-taruu bi-‘Aayaati samanan qaliilaa; wa ‘iyyaaya fattaquun.
|
Lesson
Maaa ‘an-zaltu – (which I have revealed) it signifies towards Holy Qur’aan, which was
revealed on the last Prophet (Peace be upon Him). This is the last Holy Book of
God Almighty.
Maa ma-‘a-kum - which you have, it signifies towards the Holy Book Torah which was
revealed on the Prophet Moses (Peace be upon Him). Its truth and religious
rules are approved by Holy Qur’aan.
Israelite are the people who are invited
first of all to believe on Holy Qur’aan. These people were the most famous out
of the Believers of Holy Books. They lived in the vicinity of Madina. This
principle was also in accord with the rule that invitation of goodness should
be started from the relatives and neighbours first. In the previous verse Allah
Almighty reminded them His rewards and blessings upon them and commanded to
fulfill the covenant which they have done with Him.
The covenant which is being asked to
fulfill, to believe on this book “Holy Qur’aan” is included which is revealed
on the Last Messenger Muhammad (Peace Be upon Him). So they should believe on
It and act upon Its Instructions. This Book, “Holy Qur’aan” also authenticates
the principles of their Holy Books.
After this it is being admonished that
anyhow they shouldn’t be the first disbelievers of the Holy Qur’aan out of the
people who know the Religion of God Almighty. As much knowledge regarding
acquaintance of the last Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be upon Him) and truth of Holy
Qur’aan you have, that no other nation has so much. So it is expected from that
you will not become example of infidelity and refusal for others. But as you
are being invited first out of Holy Book Holders, you will become cause of
temptation for others by believing it first, that they admit and believe on it
seeing you. You shouldn’t be afraid that if you will believe on this last Holy
Book and last Holy Prophet (Peace be upon Him), you will lose your worldly
dignity, influence and impression. Moreover you will see that all badness will
perish due to blessings of Islam. This world will become comfortable for you
and in the next world on the day of Resurrection) you will be avoided from
punishment.
Samanan qaliila- (a trifling price) it means that not to become
desirous of wealth leaving the Right. The world is a contemptible and unvalued
thing comparing to the Right and Truth whether it seems how great apparently
because it is temporary and frail.
Wa ‘iyyaaya fattaquun – and have afraid of
Me. It’tiqaa means save oneself from badness (evils). Here it is pointed
towards only the fear of the agony of God should be cause of avoiding badness.
Although, the person who has fear of Allah in his heart, he can save himself
from the act of badness.
As Holy Qur’aan has behaved soft with Jews
and as fairly invited them towards Islam that it is also a proof about Holy
Qur’aan that it is the Speech of God. Manner of declaring the events and method
of addressing shows respect of Jews. Nothing is narrated like that may provoke
them. It is the miracle of Holy Qur’aan that created proper environment for
declaration of truth. If we the Muslims copy at least some of it then all the
fears of world will get finished.
The behaviour which Jews adopted with
Islam, its base seems nothing without stubborn and misunderstanding. Aim from
selling the verses of God is that Jewish Scholars changed Commands of God for
casual benefits of this world, issued self made religious decrees for some
money, and hid orders of God and did them inter-mixed for hiding their own
badness. When scholars of any nation indulge in these types of defects, then it
is difficult for the nation to save her from destruction.
In this lesson Allah Almighty preaches
much about the good conduct. Life in this world and its benefits are for a few
days. Due to this reason He advised the Jews not to take decisions by changing
His orders for the sake of contemptible gifts. Because the reward of telling
correctly about My orders is better for both the worlds (this life and on the
day of Resurrection) than these casual advantages and some compensations.
LESSON # 57 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
To Conceal The Truth Is Not Allowed
Verse – 42 of 286, Section – 5 (Part - 1)
And confound not truth with falsehood,
and do not conceal the truth knowingly.
|
Wa laa talbisul-Haqqa bil-baatili
wa taktumul-Haqqa wa ‘antum ta’-lamuun.
|
Lesson
Laa talbisu – do not confound. This word has made from labasa. It means to mix up a
thing with the others so that it may become difficult to distinguish between
them, to expose the false as true or to coat the lie as such that it appears
like really true.
Taktumu - do not conceal. This word has come out from the word katama. A meaning
of katama is to conceal. To change the Commands of the God Almighty these may
be of two types:
•
Changing the meanings or the words itself.
•
Conceal.
The Jews people used both methods to
change the foretelling about the teachings of Heavenly Books and the last
Messenger Muhammad (Peace and blessings upon Him). Due to waste of Torah some
commands of God Almighty had been disappeared or lost, then which commands were
remained, those were changed by these people for the sake of their
advisability.
At the time of arising of Islam the Israelite
scholars have ruined the remaining shape of their religion. They used to change
the orders of those Celestial Books according to their wishes which had been
lost. They had produced self written books on the names of Heavenly Books.
Oftenly after writing paraphrase and explanation these were mixed with the
original text and did not mark the difference between the two. The scholar,
priest or monk, who had the Heavenly Instructions, he used to reduce or
increase it for the sake of any worldly temptation or earnings greed.
All the signs and tokens were present in
their Holy Books regarding the birth and prophet-hood of the last Messenger
Muhammad (peace and blessings upon Him). But when He was born, they began to
hide these all signs due to burning in the fire of jealousy and used to narrate
from some of them topsy-turvy. So God Almighty commanded, “And confound not
truth with falsehood, and do not conceal the truth knowingly. Due to your
depravity other people also go astray.”
Cause of discussion about the important
events of the history of Israelite is that the Jews be informed about their
evils on one side and on the other hand to admonish the Muslims properly that
there is no space in the religion for these kinds of talks. So we should think
about these events which our Lord, the God Almighty has told us in the Holy
Qur’aan, and the elevation and fall of the children of Israel. We should not produce the badness and evils in ourselves like
this.
LESSON # 58 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Sense Of Worship
Verse – 43 & 44 of 286, Section – 5 (Part - 1)
43. And establish worship and pay
the poor-due, and bow your heads with those who bow (in worship).
44. Enjoin ye righteousness upon
mankind while ye yourselves forget (to practice it)? And ye are readers
of the Scripture! Have ye then no sense?
|
43. Wa ‘aqiimus-Salaata wa
‘aatuz-Zakaata warka-‘uu ma-‘ar-raaki-‘iin.
44. ‘Ata’-muruunan-naasa bil-birri
wa tansawna ‘anfusakum wa ‘antum tatluunal-Kitaab. ‘Afalaa
ta’-qiluun.
|
Lesson
Az-Zakaata – A particular alms given away by the Muslims at the rate of 2.5 p.c. on
net property especially in the month of Ziqa’d. And the other meaning of it is
chastity, purity, cleanliness. Really after paying Zakaat (Poor-due) the
property becomes pure. Prayer and Zakaat are the two duties which remained part
of worship in each religion; however difference remained between their forms
and propositions.
Arka-‘uu – (bow), it is also used usually as for the whole prayer because it is a
part of the prayer. Some times the word Asjuduu (prostrate) has come along with
it.
God Almighty commanded the Jews to correct
their faith and belief first before inviting them for Islam, and that they
would have to produce the real teachings of God in front of the people in its
original shape, and not to mix up anything with it themselves.
Now they are being taught for acts. As it
is desired that they should become habituate of offering prayers, offer the
prayers with punctuality. The prayer is the most superior worship out of the
bodily worships and the best method of recognition and to get pleasure of the
God Almighty.
After the prayer they are being instructed
to give Zakaat (pay the poor-due) as according to the rules they should pay a
particular part of their wealth (2.5%) each year to the poor, meek, deserving
and needy people for the sake of God Almighty. They should spend the wealth
given by the God on useful works of welfare of the nation. The Jews were very
rich because maximum people were merchants and artificers so it was dangerous
for them that boundless love for wealth may grow in their hearts. Its remedy is
attainable with offering prayers and giving Alms and poor-dues to the poor and
needy persons with sympathy and knowledge about their necessities. So they were
commanded to offer their prayers in the Mosques with those who offer prayers
and bow when they bow, and pay the poor-due to the deserving persons.
Al-birri – meanings of this word are goodness, favour, polite, worship with full
sincerity, good manners and kindness. Opposite of this word are evils and
sins.
Al-Kitaab – here al-Kitaab means “Torah” in which all instructions regarding good
deeds, worships and religious matters have been narrated for the Jews.
Whenever the days for destruction of any
nation come then between them greedy for wealth and comfort scholars and
leaders grow, who apparently preach every time to correct the habits,
sympathize with other people with truth and faith at the time of negotiation,
not to tell a lie, not to deceive any person, offer prayers, keep fasts, serve
the people. But the preachers do not act upon their preaching themselves.
Without comfort and pleasure of this world they have no concern with any thing.
They wish only the effect of their preaching over others so that they may get
maximum gifts, tributes and offering at the name of alms so that they may get
maximum chances to be addicted to pleasure.
In this verse the scholars are being
ashamed, “what do you do this? You guide the people to be good and pious with
your tongues each time, whereas personally you are much away from the Truth. Do
you wish only that people admit you their leader and spiritual guide and serve
you always? Alas! You read the Torah and still you are convinced of showiness
and indolent from correction of yourself. It is the first demand of the wisdom
that a person should show himself as example for others in truthfulness.
Against the facts you are criminal of deceiving the people. If you are sincere
in advising the people, at first you should act too yourselves on your
sayings.”
It could not be much useful to admonish
and frighten the Jews, however there is an hidden advice for the scholars who
believe that the Holy Qur’aan is a true Book, “Arrange to correct themselves
who want to correct the others because becoming a hypocrite, treacherous,
in-sincere and cheat is forerunner of destruction and ruin of the
nation.
LESSON # 59 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Seek Help In Patience, Prayer and Concept of Doomsday
Verse – 45 & 46 of 286, Section – 6 (Part - 1)
45. And seek help in patience and
prayer. And truly it is hard save for the humble-minded—
46. Who know that they will have
to meet their Lord, and that unto
Him they are returning.
|
45. Wasta-‘iinuu bis-Sabri
was-Salaah. Wa ‘innahaa lakabii-ratun ‘illaa ‘alal- Khaashi-iin.
46. ‘Allaziina yazun-nuuna
‘annahum-mulaaquu Rabbihim wa ‘annahum ‘ilayhi raaji-‘uun.
|
Lesson
Ista-‘iinuu – seek help. When anyone feels a difficult task, he needs help of any
other person/thing.
As-Sabru – power of endurance. Need of patience remains each time. Whenever any
good work is being done, doing it whole heartedly is patience and whenever
someone has to face any calamity, bearing it without confusion is also
patience. During working hard patience is also necessary. To keep the wishes
pressed also needs patience. In short the patience is required every time and
if we see; it is the origin of each good virtue.
God Almighty bestowed the human being two
things, soul and body, and the both are the great blessings. Duty of the soul
is to get knowledge, to devise and to take the work from body. And it is the
duty of body to move in accord with the intention of soul. The prayer is source
of gratitude for these spiritual and bodily blessings. It is the thanks of
knowledge to recognize the God Almighty. It is the gratitude for blessings of
standing that someone pray the God Almighty in straight standing position, then
bow and pray in this position and then prostrate and pray in this position;
that due to His blessings hands from elbows, legs from knees, hands and feet
from wrists and ankles can bend. This is the great blessings otherwise if any
joint becomes stiff then it would have a severe thrashing. Then someone should
sit down and think that how is it a great blessing? Remember the blessing of
turning the neck at the time of compliment. At last someone should thank
God with tongue also adopting each position of the body with intention. It is
called Prayer.
Al- Khaashi-iin – (humble-minded); the persons who suppose themselves weak and feeble
without help of God they are called al- Khaashi-iin. It is the great worship of
the heart to assert his humility during in standing position, in bowing
position, in prostrating position and in sitting position in front of the God
Almighty because in the prostrating position all the limbs bend which is sign
of able to work and health of the body. So the prostration is the best form for
declaration of gratitude and conception of helplessness. We should think that
if the body parts do not turn then the human being is helpless and cripple.
From it those persons should learn who deem the prayer useless.
Yazun-nuuna – they know, they presume. This verse signifies towards getting the
virtue which has particular degree in Faith. If any body does not have humility
in his heart then he should think that he would have to face his Lord in his
each deed, motion and comfort. Without His help he can do nothing. His Lord is
with him every time. He knows his each condition, listens to his voice and
observes his each act. As his thought will become matured gradually, his faith
will increase. At last prayer and worship will become easy for him and the
virtue of patience will begin to reveal.
There is no way without becoming good
natured and for guidance of the others. The other thing with which prayer and
worship becomes easy that is Belief on the day of Resurrection. On that day
each person will be rewarded or awarded (the future reward of virtues or
torture, agony, anguish) according to his deeds which he has done during his
first life (in this world). On becoming the thought matured there will be
produced two good manners from which faith will become matured:
•
Fear of the calamity of God Almighty.
•
Hope of His Mercy.
Result of the maturity of Belief will be
humility and due to humility offering prayer will become easy, and it will
result the patience which is root of all the good manners.
This small part of the Holy Qur’aan
squeezes foundation of speeches. How beautifully children of Israel are being invited towards religion Islam and along
with it Believers of Islam are being taught about the principles of Islam.
Islam has proved through these types of commands that its principles are
natural. Opposing them is actually opposing the humanity. Islam has come to
purify its ancient shape which is common in Jewish, Christianity and other
religions of the world from all kinds of evil. Israelite are plaintiff of
religious and scholars so it is their duty to recognize and understand Islam
because it is the last shape of which was present in Torah, The New Testament
(The Bible) and all worldly Heavenly Books.
LESSON # 60 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Preference to The Children Of Israel
Verse – 47 of 286, Section – 6 (Part - 1)
O Children of Israel! Remember
My favour wherewith I favoured
you and how I preferred you to
(all) creatures.
|
Yaa-Baniii- ‘Israaa-‘iilaz-kuruu
ni’-mati-yal-latiii ‘an-‘amtu ‘alaykum wa ‘annii faz-zaltukum
‘alal-‘aalamiin.
|
Lesson
Faz-zaltukum – (preferred you), this word has come out from the word Fazal which
means preference. Aim of giving preference over the entire world is that the
Israelite remained the most excellent over all the communities and there was
none peer of them. However, when they left the Truth misled the Divine’s Law
and opposed the last Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings upon Him), then that
preference went away and they earned anger of the God Almighty. Destruction
became their fate, and the Muslim nation was given the title of “Well Nation”.
‘Alal-‘Aalamiin – (over all creatures) here ‘Aalamiin means all the nations of the
world.
There was a time when the children of Israel were preferred to all the people of this world. When
the other nations were going astray in the darkness and depravity, were
involved in infidelity and worshipping of Idols, were lustful in corruption and
heresy, then there was only the nation Israelite who had concept of Oneness of God
and they had the Heavenly Guide Book. What would be the preference more than
this?
Slowly and gradually these people went
astray from the straight path due to their weaknesses and corruptions, and left
behind the Heavenly Guidance. So the God Almighty preaches them on the point,
“Admit your real religion in its corrected form and come on the straight path.”
It was difficult to get faith and Fear of
God (piety) with the source of patience and worship. So easy and simple manner
of it has been explained and that is gratitude. God Almighty reminds the
children of Israel His favours, gifts and honours which He
had bestowed upon them from time to time and discloses also their evil doings.
It is the nature of human being that he begins to love with his benefactor and
generous. So the God Almighty warns them about His favours, and preaches them
for the straight path.
It is the sign of warning for the people
of the entire world that children of Israel fell down in the well of calamity of God after getting so much higher
rank of preference. We should get advice from this condition of them and try to
keep away from those acts which became reason of their depravity, ruin and
destruction.
LESSON # 61 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
What Will Be Used On The Day Of Resurrection?
Verse – 48 of 286, Section – 6 (Part - 1)
And guard yourselves against a
Day when no soul will in aught
avail another, nor will intercession be
accepted from it, nor will compensation be received from it, nor will they be
helped.
|

‘an-nafsin- shay-‘anw-wa laa yuqbalu minhaa shafaa-‘atunw-wa laa yu’-khazu
minhaa ‘ad-lunw-wa laa hum yun-saruun.
|
Lesson
Yawmun – (Day) means the Day of Resurrection. It is necessary that Faith on the
Day of Resurrection or Rewards and punishment on one’s acts should be present
in the religion for leaving the worldly amusements and acting good deeds so
that the people leave their evils and bad acts due to the concept of that Day
and become of the good disposition for the hope of rewards. With the passage of
time Belief on the Day of Resurrection had ended from the hearts of Israelite
so they are being admonished for the Day of Judgment.
‘Ad-lun – (revenge, reward, exchange, equality, accuracy, rivalry, contest or
balance) if remuneration or compensation is given for any thing, that is
considered equal to the capital. So the word ‘ad-lun is used as the exchange.
It also means justice or equity because on doing justice between the two
persons it becomes equity.
It was the concept the Jews, “Our
forefathers were Prophets (peace be upon them). On their recommendations our
all sins will be forgiven. So we shall not be put in agony.” The God Almighty
commands that their faith was wrong. The criminal would have to be punished for
his sins.
Usually there are four forms to set free
the criminal:
•
Any other person admits that the crime was done by him (instead of the
criminal).
•
Set the criminal free on anyone’s recommendations.
•
Let him off by paying some compensation (cash).
•
Get him free violently.
There is no any form out of the above
which may be used by the sinners on the Day of Judgment.
In the Hereafter each person will think
about himself only. No body will recommend any other without permission of the
God Almighty. He will not accept any cash, compensation, wealth or property
because He has no need of wealth and property. There is no any power in the
heavens and earth that may compel the God Almighty and set free the sinners
from God, the Most High.
He rendered null and void this faith of
the Jews explaining the speech of the verse under discussion and preached them
to come back towards the straight path having fear of the Day of Resurrection.
LESSON # 62 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Tremendous Trial of Israelite
Verse – 49 of 286, Section – 6 (Part - 1)
And (remember) when We did deliver you
from Pharaoh’s folk, who were afflicting you with dreadful torment, slaying
your sons and sparing your women. And that was a tremendous trial from your

‘aziim.
|
Lesson
Aali- Fir-‘awna – (Folk, people, near relatives, religion fellows, servants and children
of Pharaoh) Pharaoh was the title of the King of Egypt. Usually the people
imagine a king of the Egypt who was named as Pharaoh. In fact it was not the name of a person. Moreover
it was the surname of all the kings of Egypt as the title of the king of China was ‘Khaqaan’ (Emperor, Sovereign) and the King of Rome
was surnamed as ‘Caesar’.
The Prophet Joseph (Peace be upon Him)
brought and populated the Israelite in the Egypt. They lived in the Egypt hundreds of the years and their population reached in hundred thousands.
The King of Egypt made them his slaves and treated them extremely disgracefully
and contemptibly.
Once, the King dreamed at night. He
gathered the soothsayers and asked them to interpret his dream in the morning,
“I have seen a fire coming from the Temple of Jerusalem. It has besieged the Egypt and begun to burn the ‘Qabtees’ (Egyptians) choosing
one by one”. Listening to it the soothsayers told the King that a child would
bear in the Israelite that would become the cause of your death and fall of the
Emperor.
The Pharaoh collected all the nurses and
midwives of the country and ordered them, “Whenever any ‘son’ comes into the
world by birth in the Israelite, kill him at once. However the girls be left
alive.” Due to the orders of the King thousands of the sons of Israelite were
killed. After all, the leaders of the Egypt thought, “If all the Israelite are killed in this manner, who will serve
us?”
Listening to it, the Pharaoh commanded,
“Carry on killing process for one year and stop it for the next year
continuously”. The year in which killing process was postponed, in that year
Prophet Aaron (peace be upon Him) was born and in the year killing process was in
force, during that period Prophet Moses (Peace be upon Him) came in this world
but the God, the Most High saved his life with His sound policy and he could
not be killed.
The above mentioned verse points out
towards this event. The nation of Pharaoh had put the children of Israel in to much difficult calamity and labour. Finally the
God Almighty set them free from these troubles through His Prophet Moses (Peace
be upon Him).
LESSON # 63 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Drowning The Folk Of Pharaoh
Verse – 50 of 286, Section – 6 (Part - 1)
And when We brought you through the sea
and rescued you, and drowned the folk of Pharaoh in your sight.
|
Wa ‘iz faraqnaa bikumul-bahra
fa-‘anjay-naakum wa ‘agraq-naaa ‘Aala- Fir-‘awna wa ‘antum tanzuruun.
|
Lesson
Al-bahra – (Sea) here aim for al-bahra is the Red Sea (Arabian Gulf). It is also called as deep sea. Through
this sea the Egypt meets with Syria and Siena. The Israelite entered in Peninsula
Siena after crossing this Sea and got freedom from Pharaoh and folks of Egypt.
Faraqnaa bikumul-bahra - (We brought you through the Sea). It is pointed towards the event in
this sentence that when the children of Israel started crossing the Red Sea, the God Almighty made for them the way to cross the sea. It was
Miracle of the Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) that when He beat His stick on
the water of sea, the earth in the sea became dry and now there was a path for
Israelite to cross the sea. As per historians this event was occurred nearly1447
B.C.
Wa ‘antum tanzuruun – (And you were
looking). The children of Israel are being told that they had seen with their own sight about the infamy
and disgraced death of their greatest cruel and despotic king.
The Israelite bore cruelties of their tyrant
kings of Egypt for many years. After all they devised
that they should leave the Egypt and go to their ancestor’s native country Syria and Palestine under the supervision of the Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him). Because
the government of Egypt was not agreeing to permit them leave the Egypt, so they started their journey at night. They had fear about
following the Egyptian government, grief on leaving their homes and utter
darkness of night. Due to fear and confusion they forgot the straight path.
On the other side the Pharaoh had known
that the children of Israel had run away. He followed with his Army
and reached near to them. Now the Israelite were entirely helpless. In front of
them there was sea in the east and behind them a great Egyptian Army. The
Israelite became much confused as they had been surrounded. At that time
Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) beat His stick in the sea according to the
command of God Almighty. The sea was cracked and the dry land came out. Caravan
of the Israelite crossed the sea. Mean while the Army of Pharaoh reached there.
They saw dried path and dropped down. But they were even in the middle of the
way that the water became in a level and met mutually itself. The Pharaoh
drowned along with his Army. The children of Israel looked the show of drowning their enemy helplessly
with their sights. Above mentioned verse signifies towards this tale.

Worship Of A Calf
Verse – 51 of 286, Section – 6 (Part - 1)

and then ye chose the calf, when

were wrongdoers.

Lesson
Muusaaa – (Moses) was a great, glorious and favourite Prophet (peace be upon
Him) of God Almighty. Mostly Commentators of the religion imagine that the word
‘Moses’ is derived from Hebrew language. Some scholars say that it is an
Egyptian word which means child or son. Father’s name of the Prophet Moses
(peace be upon Him) was Imran. His sister’s name was Mary and Brother Aaron.
They both were elder to Him. The Time of Moses (peace be upon Him) is stated as
1500 B.C. or 1300 B.C. He made the children of Israel free from the slavery of Pharaoh and his folk.
In this verse the God, the Most High
narrated the events of Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) and His nation which
were happened after the crossing of Red Sea. When Moses (peace be upon Him)
reached near the Mountain Sinai (famous for the conversing of Moses and God
Almighty) after crossing the sea, God Almighty commanded Him to worship for
forty nights on the Mountain Sinai (Koh-i-Tuur). Prophet Moses (peace be upon
Him) went for worship on the Mountain Sinai obeying this order and detailed His
brother Aaron to look after the nation in His absence.
After the departure of Moses (peace be
upon Him) obstinacy and liberty grew in the nation (children of Israel). In the presence of even Aaron (peace be upon Him) they did not
incline towards the God-worshipping. It is known as they did not forget even
then the Idol-worshipping of the Egyptians. They were simpleton. Out of them a
conjurer named ‘Saamri’ (who was a story teller) took advantage of their weakness
(simpleton-ness) and made a calf of the gold. Whenever it blew, a meaningless
sound came out of the mouth of calf. That sound was wonderful for them,
although the children may get different sounds from the customary toys of
animals. All the children of Israel started worshipping the calf except a few persons out of them.
The Prophet Aaron (peace be upon Him) made
them much to understand but they did not turn to God-worshipping. As though
they could not remain on the straight path in the forty days’ absence of
Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him). And leaving the God Almighty started
worshipping the calf which was lifeless and false. It was their much bigger
weakness and till today some nations are involved in this
mistake.

BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Announcement of Pardon
Verse – 52 of 286, Section – 6 (Part - 1)
Then, even after that, We pardoned you
in order that ye might give thanks.

Summa ‘afawnaa ‘ankum-mim- ba’-di

Lesson
Tash-kuruun – (ye might give thanks). This word is derived from the word Shukar.
Shukar means thanks, gratitude and a just appreciate. Aim of the Shukar in
Islam is a just appreciation for the favours of God Almighty by the human
being. The person should use His favours and grants in a right and sound
manner. He should not do unvalued or be thankless.
In the previous verse it was stated that
the Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) went on the Mountain Sinai (Koh-i-Toor)
for obeying the Order of the God Almighty so that He may do worship of God
there and bring Guide Book from the God for His nation. After residing there
thirty days He was given command to live more ten days and delayed in coming
back soon.
In the absence of the Prophet Moses (peace
be upon Him) a conjurer named ‘Saamri’ (who was a wicked story teller) made a
calf of gold, a meaningless sound used to come out of its mouth. He told the
children of Israel, “this calf is the worshipped of you and the
Moses (peace be upon Him) so you should worship it”. Besides a few persons all
the nation bowed in front of the calf and began to worship it with extremely
lowness.
When the Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him)
returned from the Mount of Sinai, He saw that all the children of Israel have been misled. He filled with fury and threw those
tablets which He brought with Him and on which the Orders from the God Almighty
were written, and asked His brother Aaron furiously. Aaron (peace be upon Him)
stated the entire story and told His helplessness.
Finally the God Almighty ordered, “Throw
the calf into the sea and kill each other because it is the only way to accept
your repentance,” so two thousand persons were killed in a day. At last the
Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) begged from the God, the Most High and they
received the command of forgiveness.
It is the mercy and grace of the God
Almighty that the mankind commits mistakes but the God Almighty overlooks from
them. Whenever the human being admits his negligence and promises to abstain
from evils in future, the God Almighty forgives. If any person does not admit
His kindness upon even it then it will be infinite thankless and unvalued, and
this crime is not forgivable.

Lesson
Al-Furqaan – the Orders, Commands or Mandates which separate, disunite or disjoin.
This word is derived from the word faraqa to divide or distinguish; the Holy
Books (as distinguished or separating truth from falsehood). The Commentators
of the Religion have different sayings about Furqaan:
•
Those Miracles which were bestowed to the Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him)
from the God, the Most High.
•
The victory and overcoming which was resulted against the Army of Pharaoh to
the children of Israel.
•
The Jews intend also from this word, the verbal preaching which was revealed
upon the Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) besides Torah.
•
Al-Furqaan is the name of Holy Qur’aan also and other Heavenly Books are called
Furqaan too because these Orders differentiate between the Right and Wrong.
In this verse al-Furqaan intends towards
the Orders and Commands due to which true and false, right and wrong, and
goodness and evil may be separated from each other and there may not remain any
accommodation for doubt and suspicion.
When the repentance of the children of Israel was approved, the Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him)
went again to the Mount Sinai (Koh –i – Toor) and brought a lot of
Orders from the God Almighty which were written on the tablets. Collection of
those Orders is called Torah.
God Almighty is reminding the children of
Israel His Favors in this verse. He commands them, “You disobeyed My Orders.
You started worshipping the Calf but I forgave you with My kindness. Then I
bestowed My Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) a Book which had complete
Divine’s Law and a Guide (Torah) so that you may pass your lives according to
its instructions. With the help of that book you might distinguish between just
and absurd, lawful and unlawful, good and bad.”
It is known from this verse that the Holy
Book revealed from the God Almighty and the balance between just and absurd is
a great blessing for the human being. The guidance may only be gotten from it
and only those persons are successful who act upon the Holy Book of God
Almighty, and take guidance for balance between true and false. It is necessary
for us that we should correct our words and deeds in the light of Holy Qur’aan
and Sayings of the last Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon Him),
grow virtue of distinguishing between true and false and don’t recognize equal
good and bad. We should keep every time distinction between lawful and unlawful
in front of us.

toward you. Lo! He is the Relenting, the Merciful.

Lesson
Li-Qawmihii – (unto his people, to His nation), in this verse aim from li-Qawmihii
is those particular persons who prostrated the calf supposing their
worshipped.
Zalamtum – (you have wronged, you have lost) it means that they involved again in
plurality leaving the Oneness of God Almighty. How might be more than it loss
of a person over him?
Faqtuluuu ‘anfusakum – So kill (the guilty) yourselves. It signifies towards the people who
did not prostrate the calf they should kill them who prostrated it. The
scholars have commented that there were three groups in the children of Israel:
•
Those persons who did not prostrate the calf and forbade the others not to
prostrate it. They were pious persons.
•
Those people who prostrated.
•
It was a group who did not prostrate themselves but they did not forbid others
from prostrating.
So the pious people were commanded to kill
them who prostrated. In fact the after wards two groups deserved the
punishment.
Khay-rul-lakum – it is best for you. It aims that when you will kill one an other, you
will become sacred from the filth of sin and will get absolution and freedom.
In this verse God Almighty tells the
children of Israel, “You could not remain on the straight path in
the absence of the Prophet (peace be upon Him), involved in plurality and idol
worshipping. You have lost much due to this deed of yours. Now it is its
punishment that you kill each other yourselves. When the children of Israel admitted the order of God Almighty, then they were
relented and the God, the Most high accepted their penitence. Success in this
world and on the Day of Resurrection for the human being is in obeying the
Orders of God Almighty wishing either he knows or doesn’t know its philosophy
and advisability. And if with error, forgetfulness or un-intentionally he has
mistaken, then he should be ready every time for acceptance and
correctness.
LESSON # 68 FROM HOLY QUR’AN

An Other Arrogance Of Israelite

Naraa – (we will see). The Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) brought chosen
seventy persons from the children of Israel on the Mountain Sinai for listening to the Speech of God Almighty. When
they listened to the Speech they said, “O Moses! We do not believe on listening
from the veil. Show us with eyes.
‘Akhazat-kumus-saa-‘iqatu – (the lightning seized you). The children of Israel were falsifying the speech of Prophet Moses (peace be
upon Him) and claiming that they would see the God openly otherwise they would
not believe on Him. So they were punished as the lightning fell suddenly upon
them from which their eyes were dazzled and their eyesight made unable to see
anything.
It has been discussed earlier that when
the Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) went on the Mountain Sinai for getting
Guide Book (Torah) for the children of Israel, then they started worship of the
calf in His absence and involved in plurality of God. When He returned, it was
announced by the God Almighty to kill them as punishment of plurality. Even now
they started killing each other. At that time the God, the Most High relented
and their penitence was accepted.
Then seventy old-men from the children of Israel claimed that they would go on the Mount of Sinai with
the Prophet Moses to listen the Speech of the God Almighty. Prophet Moses
brought them with Him. He instructed them to stay in the foot of Mountain and
went on the Mountain Himself. The God Almighty spoke with the Prophet Moses
(peace be upon Him) and after returning He told them. Then they said, “We wish
to see the God Almighty with our eyes”.
Due to their opposing and refusal openly
they were punished and the lightning fell down upon them, and they expired.
After looking how big miracles and getting favors of the God Almighty the
children of Israel could not leave their old bad habits. They
wished to see the God Almighty with these material eyes which is impossible. So
they were punished like this.
LESSON # 69 FROM HOLY QUR’AN

Revive After Death

Then We revived you after your

|
Summa ba-‘asnaakum-mim-ba’-di

|
Lesson
God Almighty is reminding the children of Israel His favors one by one so that they would leave the
evil doings conceiving these favors and come back on the straight path.
In this verse previous incident is being
explained constantly. While a group of the children of Israel said to the Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him), “We
will see Allah manifestly”, the lightning seized them due to this arrogance and
they all became extinct. When the Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) saw them
dead, He requested the God Almighty, “O my Lord! I brought these people to
witness in front of the children of Israel. Now they have died. What shall I
reply the nation and produce them the argument? Then Allah Almighty revived
them again.
God Almighty has done them attentive
towards the fact in this verse and Commanded to Remember His favor, “Then We
revived you after your extinction, that ye might give thanks”. There is only
way to thank God Almighty, “Obey His orders leaving the path of infidelity and
depravity.”
It appears from this incident that
arrogance to the grace of God Almighty and unreasonable claim from Him is
biggest sin and its punishment is very painful. Those people wished to see the
God Almighty with their materialistic eyes still it was impossible for the
human being till the time living in this world and they were punished on this
arrogance.
So we should also admit and believe each command
and order of the God Almighty and His last Prophet Muhammad (peace and
blessings be upon Him) without any doubt and dispute. We should not try to grow
any fault finding, criticism and argument in it without fail, because it
becomes habit of the human being to find faults in each matter. The persons who
become habitual of finding faults they shirk work always. They become wealthy
of talking only.

Lesson
Manna – It was a sweet moist thing for eating which was available on searching
by the children of Israel. It was a great favor of the God Almighty for
their lives during wandering in the desert of Peninsula of Sinai. Different forms of Manna have
been explained. Some people have told that it was like a particular kind of
gum. Some others have stated it ‘Honey’. Now a day a delicious pudding named
‘Manna’ is being prepared in the Egypt. This pudding is favourite food of
the Jews.
Salwaa – It is a bird like a small partridge (quail). It is found in peninsula
Sinai. It does not fly on to much height and tires soon. It becomes victim
easily. The sea air used to bring them flying towards the camp of the children
of Israel. They used to go hunting these birds and made
them their delicious food.
As per Commentators of Religion
(compliments for them) after leaving the Egypt the children of Israel used to wandering confused in the barren desert of peninsula of Sinai for forty years. Due to non availability of shade, shadow or shelter
they were confused from the sunlight and requested the Prophet Moses (peace be
upon Him) to seek means for saving them from this suffering (sunlight). He
(peace be upon Him) prayed from the God Almighty which was approved and a cloud
used to remain over their heads during the entire day to overshadow them. The
God, the Most High commanded them, “and We caused the cloud to overshadow you
and sent down on you the manna and the quails, (saying); Eat of the good things
which We have provided you”. They were also instructed not to store these
heavenly favors, take only according to the needs, however may be stored ration
for two days only on Friday.
They disobeyed the order of God Almighty
and began to store the food. Resultantly provision of these favors was stopped.
So God Almighty reveals, “They wronged Us not, but they did wrong themselves”.

Lesson
Al-Qaryata – (Township) the Historians have told that this colony was a famous city
of Palestine named ‘Areehaa’. It was conquered by the
children of Israel during the time of Prophet Yusha (peace be
upon Him) after expiry of the Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him).
Hittatun – (Repentance) it is abbreviation of a sentence that means, “O our Lord!
Forgive our mistakes”. The children of Israel were instructed to say with their tongues the word, “Repentance”, while
entering the city.
Muh-siniin – (Right doers) this word is made from ‘ahsaan’ which means to favour,
kindness and well doing.
The God Almighty showed all the land of
“Kin’aan” carrying the Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) up to the river bank
of Jordon and told, “I give this country to the children of Israel and you will conquer this city Areehaa in near future.
While you enter in it you will get favors of the God Almighty and different
types of fruit. So at the time of entering in the gate prostrate, and say:
“Repentance” and not to be proud and haughty. We will forgive you your sins and
will increase (reward) for the right doers.
The children of Israel did not obey the God Almighty whole heartedly but
started disobeying so they were entitled for agony of God. Complete detail will
be discussed in the coming onward verses.
The time becomes very difficult for the
nations when they get favors of God Almighty and do not thank Him. Instead of
thanking God they choose the path of violence. They see the agony and do not
get it as warning but become more intoxicated. They get guidance and do not
adopt the straight path but start
violating.

|
Lesson
Badda-la – (changed) the words which had been told them for saying, they changed
them and adopted those words in which the meanings of buffoonery test and
laughter were hidden in place of forgiveness.
Rijzun – (wrath) Wrath of the God Almighty comes in different forms over the
persons who become evildoer, disloyal, mutineer or rebel. This word is also
used for each type of torture. The commentators of the religion have told that
the word ‘wrath’ pointed in this verse, was in the form of Plague on the
children of Israel.
Bimaa kaanuu yaf-suquun – (because they were evildoers, they used to disobey). This word
is made from the word fisq that means disobeying, corruption, adulteration or
fornication. So the person who is evildoer or who disobeys the Order of God
Almighty is called Faasiq (adulterer, fornicator and corrupt). This sentence
signifies that the children of Israel had not abstained physically due to which the Plague spread over them.
But they used to disobey the orders of God Almighty continuously; resultantly
they were punished with the disease plague.
While the children of Israel conquered the
city of Areehaa during the period of Prophet Yusha’ (peace be upon Him) these
people became evildoers instead of thanking God Almighty and changing His
orders began to do laughter, fun, joke and buffoonery. So instead of using the
word ‘hittatun‘(Begging mercy or Grace) they entered the city saying ‘hintatun
fii sha’ratin’ (grain in the spike of corn) and instead of prostrating entered
the gate of city dragging themselves.
They were punished with the Plague
disease due to this disobedience and God Almighty says, “We sent down upon the
evildoers wrath from heaven for their evildoing”. It was the result that nearly
seventy thousand children of Israel became victim of the Plague.
God Almighty is reminding the children of Israel His favors over them so that they bear in their minds
and come towards the straight path thanking Him.
We learnt from this verse that due to His
favors we should thank God, the Most High. The nations are ruined due to
haughtiness and proud.

Lesson
‘Asaa – (staff, stick, club) It has been mentioned in many verses of Holy
Qur’aan about the stick of Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him). This stick was
bestowed to Him as a miracle. To cross the sea, the path made by this stick,
twelve springs began to flow smiting the rock of stone with this stick, it
swallowed the snakes and scorpions of the magicians of Pharaoh after becoming a
dragon.
Isnataa ‘ashrata ‘aynaa – (twelve springs) after wandering confused in the desert and barren
wilderness of the peninsula of Sinai the children of Israel reached the place where water was not available. When
after searching they did not find water they enraged upon the Prophet Moses
(peace be upon Him). The Prophet (peace be upon Him) begged from the God
Almighty. He was commanded to smite the rock with His staff. So there gushed
out therefrom twelve springs (so that) each tribe knew their drinking-place.
It was only the favor of the God Almighty
that they were provided the water here as in a dry desert and were ordered,
“Eat and drink of that which Allah hath provided, and do not act corruptly,
making mischief in the earth”.
It is found from this narration that
whenever we do not see any support or cause for eating and drinking, the God,
the Most High arranges and provides eatables and drinkables with His Mercy and
Power. It is the duty of human being that he should beg from Him only and he
should not be hopeless from His Mercy. The God Almighty is “the Merciful and
Kind”. If the person disobeys, he gets loss for himself only and which the
wrath descends that is due to his own evildoings.

Misran – (city) Here aim of misran is any city of peninsula Sinai or in its
surroundings. Literal meaning of Misr is a city of which demarcation would have
been completed. However, it does not mean presently the country Egypt.
This incident was also happened in the
desert and wilderness of the Peninsula of Sinai. The children of Israel used to eat heavenly food ‘Manna and Quails’ with much
taste for a long time but they felt weary from this food. Although these foods
were being provided to them free of cost. They said to their Prophet (peace be
upon Him), “O Moses! We are weary of one kind of food; so call upon thy Lord
for us that He bring forth for us of that which the earth groweth – of
its herbs and its cucumbers and its corn
and its lentils and its onions”. They requested to bring them towards some
other place from this wilderness where all kinds of city and country foods,
vegetables are available for them.
The Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him)
admonished them first of all that their order was not well. The heavenly food
they were getting without working hard that was much better than those things
which needed hard work. But the children of Israel resisted on their talk. Then the Prophet Moses (peace
be upon Him) said, “Go and live in any better city. You will attain there the
food of your choice”.

Wrath Of God On Jews
Verse – 61b of 286, Section – 7 (Part - 1)

were stamped upon them and they
were visited with wrath from Allah.
|
Wa zuribat ‘alayhimuz-zillatu
wal-mas-kanah; wa baaa’uu bi-gazabim- minallaah.
|
Lesson
Zuribat – (stamped, struck, hit, hammered) in this verse this word is used for
‘stamped upon them’ (humiliation).
Zillatun – (humiliation, disgrace, insult)
Mas-kanatun – (wretchedness, poverty, needs, destitution) it is said usually that
the Jews as a nation are the richest but it is a deception and
misunderstanding. The wealth and property which the Jews have that is only
limited to their some superior people, although public and common people are
financially weak.
God Almighty bestowed many kinds of
blessings and kindnesses but they did not thank Him. They used to disobey the
Laws of the God Almighty. They were given Manna and Quails for their eating but
they had not patience on this favor and claimed for ignoble items like
vegetables, cucumbers and corn etc.
Due to their ingratitude behaviour the
wrath of God Almighty appeared upon them.
•
Humiliation was pasted upon them. So this nation remained subordinate of
Muslims and Christians. During May 1949 their Government was established with
the name of “State of Israel” but that was established with the help of Western
Governments and even now their existence is due to injustice behaviour of the
Western countries.
Besides humiliation, wretchedness and
poverty were stamped upon them also. There are only some persons who are
fortunate otherwise maximum people are very poor. The persons who suppose it
their native country and if they are rich, they are involved in avarice and the
love of wealth. They have ambition, lust and greed of wealth surpassing
everything.
It is known from this lesson that the
person should always be thankful to the God Almighty for His blessings so that
the blessings are remained forever because till the time any nation thanks God
for His blessings, He bestows the favors. And the person should never criticize
the religion of God Almighty because the human being is ignorant from the
result of goodness, betterment and virtue of anything.

Lesson
Yakfuruuna – (Disbelieved) it is derived from the word kafara. Literal meaning of
kafara is ‘not to believe, to hide’. Technically not to believe the Oneness of
God and Prophet-hood is called infidelity. So Kaafir means Infidel. It aims in
this verse that the children of Israel had become habitual of infidelity and denial.
‘Aayaatillaahi – (Allah’s Revelations, verses, tokens, signs) it also signifies towards
the Miracles of the Prophets (peace be upon Them), Heavenly Books & Orders
and Commands of the God Almighty too.
Yaq-tuluuna – (Slew, murdered, killed) the children of Israel crossing the limits of infidelity and violence killed
the Prophets (peace be upon Them). They convicted to slay the Prophets John,
Zachariah, Yasa’-yaa’ and Yarmiaa (peace be upon Them).
As we have read in the previous lessons
that the children of Israel were overtaken in the wrath of the God
Almighty. Humiliation and wretchedness were stamped upon them. Causes of wrath
are being narrated in this verse.
God Almighty commands that the children of Israel had become habitual of two main crimes:
•
They did not act upon the orders of God Almighty whole hearted. Moreover they
used to peel of the s`kin from hair without fail, and criticized in each matter
unreasonably with quarrelsome manner.
•
They slew their Prophets (peace be upon Them). After the Prophet Moses, God
Almighty sent many Prophets (peace be upon Them) but they did not listen to any
one. Moreover they became their (Prophets) enemies. Some of them were blamed
and some were slain.
Causes of these crimes have also been
narrated in this verse that they disobeyed the Orders of God Almighty and
Instructions of His Prophets (peace be upon Them), and had become habitual to
get out of the limitations of the Religion. It was the result that as they
turned their faces from the Revelations of God Almighty and slew the Prophets
(peace be upon Them) so they were overtaken the wrath of God
Almighty.

Reward Of Faith and Doing Good
Verse – 62 of 286, Section – 8 (Part - 1)
Lo! Those who believe (in that which
is revealed unto thee, Muhammad),
and those who are Jews, and Christians,
and Sabaeans – whoever believeth in Allah and the Last Day and doeth right – surely their reward is

grieve.

|
Lesson
‘Aa-manuu – (Believe) in this verse to believe means to join the Muslim Community.
Haadu – (Jews) the persons who are entered in the Jews Class, either they are
the children of Israel or otherwise.
Nasaaraa – (Christians) Nasaaraa is plural of Nasraani. There is a town in Palestine named ‘Naasirah’. The Prophet Jesus (peace be upon
Him) was born in this town. Due to relation with this town the Prophet Jesus
(peace be upon Him) is called Jesus Christ Naasri (peace be upon Him). So who
follow Him is included in Nasaaraa (Followers of the Christ who was born in
Naasirah).
As-Saabi-‘iina – (Sabaeans) a person, who inclined towards some other religion leaving
his/her own is called Saabi. It was a sect in the Arab. They believed to the
Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him), used to do worship of the Angels (peace be
upon Them), recited the Psalms of Prophet David (peace be upon Him) and during
the worship they turned towards the Temple of Makkah. The Arabians used to say them Saabi
‘disbelievers’.
God Almighty has removed misunderstanding
of the greatness of the Name, the Family background and the Race, and announced
that near to Allah Almighty the Name and surname or title are nothing, neither
honor of good birth from a particular nation or race and distinction is
trustworthy. Two things are necessary for freedom from the wrath of God
Almighty, wishing the people either belong to any race or nation, or they have
any surname or title.
• They
believe in Allah and the Last Day (the Day of Resurrection) with whole hearted.
•
They do right (good)
If the people will believe in Allah
Almighty then they also will admit His Orders and Commands. We have known these
Orders and Commands through the Last Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be
upon Him). So having belief on this Prophet (peace be upon Him) is also
included in it. If they will believe on the Day of Resurrection then they would
have to believe the wrath and reward.
In short to have belief on the God
Almighty and obey His orders is necessary for liberty and reward, and it is
impossible to have belief on God Almighty without acceptance of the
Prophet-hood of the Last Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings upon Him).

BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Elevation Of The Mount Toor
Verse – 63 of 286, Section – 8 (Part - 1)
And (remember, O Children of Israel)
when We made a covenant with you and caused the (Mount) Toor to tower above
you, (saying): Hold fast that which We have given you, and remember that
which is therein, that ye may ward off (evil).

|
Lesson
At-Tuur – (Toor) Every mountain is called Toor as per Arabic language. A
particular Mountain in the peninsula Sinai is also named as ‘Toor’. That is
called “Jabal i-Toor” too.
Az – kuruu maa fiihi – (remember that which is therein) the subjects which are contained in
Holy Book Torah, remember them so that you may act upon them. To act upon them
is the main need for remembering the Orders of God Almighty.
Tattaquun – (have fear of God) this word is from “Taqwaa”. To remain ward off the
evils and pass the life carefully is called Taqwaa. That is also called
abstinence, control of the passions. Who is good natured, well wisher and has a
good disposition is named “muttaqii”. Islam has stated it as a great excellence
and perfection of mankind.
The children of Israel used to demand obstinately to bring a genuine Book of
Orders so that they might act upon it. These people used to promise that they
would follow completely on the religious matters. But when they were given the
Holy Book Torah they inclined to oppose it and began to say that the Orders
mentioned in Torah are very heavy and difficult. We can not act upon them.
To challenge them from disobeying and violence
Allah Almighty ordered the Mount Toor which was elevated over their heads. Seeing it the
children of Israel began to shiver (for afraid of their
death) and they had lost the courage of opposing, and now they admitted by
force the Laws of Torah.
At this stage promise was taken from the
children of Israel, “You will neither dispute nor play the
stratagems and argue to believe the Holy Book “Torah”. They were also told to
make the law of passing their lives according to the Orders and subjects of
this Heavenly Book, act upon them punctually so that fear of God Almighty is
produced in their hearts and “ye may ward off (evil).”

BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Punishment For Turning Away From The Law
Verse – 64 of 286, Section – 8 (Part - 1)

and if it had not been for the Grace of Allah upon you and His mercy ye had
been among the losers.

Lesson
Khaasi-riin – (the losers) the word Khasaara has been derived from khaasi-riin that
means the damage; the loss, deficiency. So khaasi-riin means the persons who
suffer loss, who ruin their present lives as well as their end (the Doomsday).
History of the children of Israel tells that the God Almighty bestowed upon them a lot
of kindnesses and favors but they always disobeyed instead of obeying and
adopted thankless behaviour instead of being thankful to Him. He let them set free
from the slavery of Pharaoh, commanded them to live in the forests of the
Peninsula of Sinai so that virtue and passions of an independent and crusader
nation may grow into them due to passing their lives in the desert and country
atmosphere, they might get freedom from the affects of their long time slavery
but they did not like it. They claimed to live in towns so that they might eat
different types of fruit, they might pass their lives with laziness and
inactively. The God Almighty completed their wishes.
They used to demand from the Prophet Moses
(peace be upon Him) to bring for them Guide Book so that they might follow it.
God Almighty bestowed the Holy Book Torah and got promise from them that they
would follow it always and would never bend upon violence.
After revelation of the Holy Book Torah
they broke their promise and began to bend upon violation. God Almighty forgave
this error and mischief also. If there would not be available His Mercy and
Kindness then the children of Israel might be ruined and disgraced at the spot in this world besides entitled
the wrath on the Day of Resurrection. God Almighty advised the children of
Israel with His Kindness by sending His Prophets Solomon, David, Samuel and
others (peace be upon Them) and told them the straight path. These Prophets
(peace be upon Them) tried their best to bring them on the straight path. It
was Excellence of the God Almighty otherwise the Jew had arranged for them to
be ruined immediately.
God Almighty’s Mercy and Kindness are the greatest
supports for human beings’ lives and their safety. If He would not keep Mercy
and Kindness, would not ignore then there is no space for any person
anywhere.
LESSON # 80 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Change In Faces From Good To Bad
Verse – 65 of 286, Section – 8 (Part - 1)
And ye know of those of you who broke

|
Wa laqad
‘alim-tumul-laziina’-tadaw minkum fis-Sabti fa-qulnaa lahum
kuunuu qira-datan khaasi-‘iin.
|
Lesson
Minkum – (out of you) it signifies towards the fathers, ancestors; forefathers
of the children of Israel.
As-Sabt – (the day of “Saturday”) Literal meaning of Sabt is Saturday. As near
to Christians ‘Sunday’ is a holy day and Muslims celebrating ‘Friday’ as the
holy day, like this the Jews count ‘Saturday’ as their holy day. Saturday was
specified only for the worship of God near to them. Worldly works like
business, agriculture or hunting were forbidden for them.
A’-tadaw – (to encroach, to cross the limits) they crossed the limits of Divine’s
Law.
It has come in the traditions that during
the time of Prophet David (peace be upon Him) a large number of Jews lived Ailah (a place in the south of Palestine). This event belongs to that population. These persons used to
disobey the commands of God Almighty with cleverness and tactfully. They were
instructed not to hunt the fish absolutely on Saturday. The God Almighty wished
to examine them too. Usually the fish used to come near the bank of river in
much quantity on Saturday.
The Jews planned tactfully carrying on the
outward form of the orders of God Almighty. They used to dig the pit holes near
the bank of river on Saturday. Large quantity of the fish used to reach in
these pit holes with water. Then they used to close the way of water from the
river side towards the pit holes. Next day they used to hold the fish from
these pit holes. Due to continuously disobeying the God Almighty they were
punished, were shaped as apes and their faces were changed from
good to bad.
It appears from this verse that some
commands come from the God Almighty only for examining. It is the aim of
examination to clarify that the servants of God Almighty remain obedient in
both the situations i.e. rest and hardness. If the human being rises to the
situation of test, there are a lot of facilities for him but punishment is very
tough for the ill-natured and evil doers.
LESSON # 81 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)

|

|
Lesson
Nakaalan – (warning) it means a punishment and incident so which becomes warning
for others, looking it the persons get admonition.
Purpose of narrating the important events
of the history of Israelite in Holy Qur’aan on one side is that the children of Israel feel repentance and be much ashamed. They recognize
their reality and incline towards the straight path. And on the other side it
is admonition for the Muslims. They get it as warning from the incidents of
previous nations, check an account of their deeds, take a lesson and adjust
themselves in the light of Holy Qur’aan.
Which event we have discussed in the
previous verse that has much importance in the history of the children of Israel and all these people know it very well. The Holy
Qur’aan is drawing their attention too towards that
incident.
After expressing the incident the Holy
Qur’aan declared in this verse, “So We made it an example to their own and to
succeeding generations, and an admonition to the God-fearing”. So that all the
persons are informed with the result of disobeying the commands of God
Almighty, be careful for ever and each moment. It is the fact that this
incident is a guide for particularly God-fearing persons. Their belief is
perfect with it that only the fear of God is root cause of all the goodness for
human beings.
After understanding this verse now there
is no doubt that certainly disobeying the commands of God Almighty becomes main
cause of a great wrath. We should always keep it in front of us. It is not a
customary thing “changing of good faces into bad and becoming apes from the
mankind”. The human beings should used to have fear from the wrath and anger of
God Almighty.
It also comes out from this verse that how
much a person can get admonition from the previous events. In fact this Holy
Qur’aan (the Speech of God) impressed upon minds very clearly about the
benefits of the history and that every incident or event can not become
history. Only those events deserve to become part of history from which the
person may get any fair lesson.

BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Command To Sacrifice A Cow
Verse – 67 of 286, Section – 8 (Part - 1)

Lesson
‘A-tattakhi-zunaa huzuwaa – (Dost thou make fun of us?) the cow was very sacred near to the
children of Israel. When the Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him)
caused to hear the command of God Almighty they remained aghast. They did not
believe that it would have been commanded to sacrifice like this sacred animal.
They supposed that the Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) would have made fun of
them.
Al-jaahiliin – (the foolish, the ignorant, the uneducated, and the illiterates) this
word al-jaahiliin is derived from jahal. Literal meaning of it is to do any
work contrary to its actual nominated method. If it is due to ignorance then
the stupidity is simple and if it is done intentionally then the stupidity is
compound. The Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) asks from God Almighty for
refuge from the both stupidities. The person who wishes to command the people
at the name of God Almighty, either he is indolent from the God or he is
foolish and is incautious from the results of making fun in the religious
matters.
A person was killed out of the children of Israel but the killer was not traceable. God Almighty
commanded the Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) to order the children of Israel for sacrificing a cow and beat a piece of its meat at
the dead body of the killed. With it the murdered person will come back to the
life and will tell the name of his killer.
Due to residing many centuries in the Egypt the children of Israel began to deem the cow very sacred so they supposed
that perhaps the Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) is making fun of them. The
Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) removed their doubt and made them to
understand that the Prophets (peace be upon Them) never make fun in the
religious matters and in the commands of God Almighty. Making fun of others is
the job of the stupid. Wise persons never commit the acts like this which are
contrary to the dignity, honour and glory, and which become cause of disgrace
of the religion.

Lesson
Maa hii – (what she is) When the children of Israel were commanded to sacrifice a cow, they began to argue
and reasoning absurdly. Their first question was about her age. (What is the
cow’s age?).
Faarizun – (a cow not with calf, not to much old)
Bikr – (immature cow)
‘Awaanum – (between) (neither with calf nor immature – between the two
conditions)
Commands of the God Almighty and His
Prophets (peace be upon Them) are not without wisdom and philosophy. However it
is not necessary that each person may understand them. So nobody should argue
or hesitate obeying Them and each person should act upon Their orders/instructions.
In the beginning each
order/instruction/law was simple and easy but due to making differences too
small to be important the orders and laws became difficult and complicated.
God Almighty commanded through the Prophet
Moses (peace be upon Him) to sacrifice a cow. It was entirely a straight and
simple order. Children of Israel had to sacrifice any cow. But they argued and used to ask question over
questions, so they created difficulties for themselves. After asking first
question they became bound about the age of the cow. Then they asked second
question’ “what would be colour of the cow”. Now they raised some other
difficulty for themselves. Actually they were trying to evade the order. But as
they were trying to evade they were drowning in the more difficult situation.
They did not understand that how much advisability and secrets are hidden in
His orders.
Then they asked again, “What (cow) she is.
Lo! Cows are much alike to us. And Lo! If Allah wills, we may be led aright.”
Now some other restriction was composed upon them, “Verily she is a cow
unyoked; she plougheth not the soil nor watereth the tilth; whole and without
mark”.
Then they said, “Yes! Now you have told us
the right”. In short after a lot of arguments they sacrificed the cow. Even now
it was being felt from their behavior that they might not do so. Though, even
now they obeyed the command of God Almighty
unavoidably.

Lesson
Faddaara’-tum – (then you disagreed, accused/charged each other).
Summary of the previous verses has been
stated in these verses. As we have discussed formerly that a person was killed
out of the children of Israel but the killer was not traceable because the doubtful people were trying
to charge/accuse each other and disagreed concerning it.
The God Almighty commanded the children of Israel to sacrifice a cow for knowing the name of killer.
They evaded. When after making much tricks and excuses they prepared to
sacrifice the cow, the God Almighty commanded them now to smite the dead body
with a piece of meat of that cow. As soon as the piece of meat was smitten to
the killed, he returned to life and told the name and address of his killer. So
a great problem was resolved obeying the commands of God Almighty. The killed
expired again after telling about his murderer.
The God Almighty also taught the people,
“It is in My Power to bring the dead to life again”. As the murdered told about
his first life’s incidents after getting life again, like him all the human
beings will be brought to life again. Then each person will give evidence
himself about his own deeds.
These advices and happenings are being
told by the God Almighty to all the human beings so that we think about them
and correct our lives. We should take lesson from the happenings and incidents
of previous nations, and get it as warning for
us.

Lesson
In the previous verses God Almighty
commanded about some happenings in the history of the children of Israel to take lesson from which we may know that they
remained involved in different kinds of evil-doings and disobediences. God
Almighty used to forgive them but they even then did not take lesson. As though
their hearts were hardened and became as rocks, or worse than rocks, for
hardness, because there are some rocks which are useful and advantageous for
the creature of the Creator, some rocks are from which rivers and springs gush
and the people get water for their personal use, for their animals, for their
crops. Hence every field of life needs water, there is no conception of life
without it and that is the great favour of God Almighty Who provides us through
rocks.
And indeed there are some rocks which fall
down from the peaks of the mountains as they are falling in the prostration for
the fear of Allah Almighty.
The commentators of the religion have made
comments that example of the rocks from which rivers and springs gush is like
the Messengers and Prophets (peace be upon Them) in the population of human
beings. Due to their springs of favour and kindness the persons (the creature
of God) extinguish their spiritual thirst. Example of the second kind of rocks
is like the saints of God Almighty. Many people are used to benefit and bless
from them. Like them there are the Believers and Righteous persons who if may
not guide and correct others, even then their own faith and act remains sound.
Neither the children of Israel obtained
advantage from the teachings of Prophets (peace be upon Them), nor they
listened the advice of the servants of God Almighty, as if their hearts were
hardened and became as rocks, or worse than rocks, for hardness on which no
speech becomes effective. And Allah Almighty is not Unaware of what all
the persons do.

|
Lesson
Tatma-‘uuna – (you have any hope) this word is derived from Tama’a. Usual meanings
of Tama’a are ‘to long for’, ‘to have greed’ and also it means ‘to hope’, ‘to
expect’. Here it aims towards the last meanings.
Yuharri-fuunahuu – (they used to change it) matter of this word is harafa and infinitive
mood is tahriif, that means ‘change’. There are two ways of the change:
•
Literal change (to change the words, to change its pronunciation so that
reality of the word may be changed. For instance the Jews used to speak the
words ‘hintatun’ instead of ‘hittatun’ and ‘ra-iina’ instead of ‘raa-‘ina’).
•
Significant change (to change the meanings of the words – in translation and
explanation).
God Almighty after telling the important
happenings in the history of the children of Israel commands in the previous verse that these people will
not admit/recognize any warning from these speeches because their hearts have
become harder than rocks. Exemplary happenings have no effects on their hearts.
In this verse God Almighty admonishes the
Muslims, “Do you wish that they will agree upon your talk whereas out of their
elders during the time of Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) and after them also
there was a party used to change intentionally after listen the speech of God
Almighty. While it was the condition of their elders then; Have you any hope
that they will be true to you? How can you expect from them for goodness? They
are ill-disposed people. They will never believe.
It appears from the God Almighty’s this
proclamation that the Muslims should not have much expectation of accepting
Islam by the Jews.

Lesson
Li-yuhaaaj-juukum-bihii – (they may contend with you concerning it) hajaj is the matter of
haaaj-juu. The word hujjat is also made from it that means proof, argument and
reason. Meanings of this entire sentence are, “to make it proof and argue with
this source”. The Jews who did tranposition in the Holy Books Torah, used to
say their hypocrite friends, “you give proofs to the Muslims against yourself
telling them the teachings of your Book”.
It is being mentioned from here about the
Jews who were Hypocrites. Whenever these people met cordially with the Muslims,
they used to disclose their faith upon the Last Prophet Muhammad (peace and
blessings be upon Him) and to win their favour used to tell them all the
foretellings and emblems for authentication and support of the Last Messenger
(peace and blessings be upon Him) which were held in their Religious Book.
But whenever these Jews used to meet each
other, they used to censure one another, “why you have provided the weapons
against yourselves telling your teachings to the Muslims. The Muslims will use
these proofs against you and making certificates to your own talks they will
give evidence against you in front of the God Almighty that the Jews did not
return to the real religion whether they had known every thing”. As though,
these fools were supposing that Muslims can know these matters only through the
Jews. They do not know that God Almighty can expose their all the matters (open
or hidden) in front of the Last Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon
Him) and the Muslims any time.

Lesson
‘Amaaniyya – (false hopes, hearsay) its singular is ‘umniah. This word is used in
two meanings; (1) as like hope which does not have any reality and some persons
remain cheerful only in false notions. (2) Anybody remains fallen
in false traditions and absurdities. There are a lot of instances of
resemblances like this in the history of Jews, for example their false notions
that nobody will go into the Paradise except them.
Samanan – (price, cost, value) meanings of this word are not only the net cash
or cash price but anything which will be gotten as reward or remuneration for
any other thing, that will be its samanan. In this verse samanan means worldly
reward or remuneration.
Mimmaa yaksibuun – (out of their earnings) in this verse it has two meanings; (1) Pile of
their sins – because of increasing their sins due to these mischieves
constantly.
(2). which financial reward or
remuneration these persons achieve due to change or alteration/transposition.
Illiterate class of the Jews did not know
that what has been written in the Holy Book Torah. They were aware of only a
few false expectations, hopes and desires, which they had listened from their
forefathers and expected that their ancestors will get them forgiven from their
sins.
God Almighty commands that the people who
change His Orders and say that it is the order of God Almighty, for them there
is much badness.

Lesson
An-Naaru – (The Fire) this word aims towards the Fire of Hell. It has been
mentioned in the Holy Qur’aan at many places and the human beings have been
cautioned in all the Heavenly Books of world. Nobody will be able to recommend
anyone to be saved from the agony of the Hell. Neither the remuneration will do
something and nor there will be any person too much powerful to save anyone.
‘Ayyaamam-ma’-duudah – (a certain number of days) the Jews had faith that they will be thrown
into the Fire only for a few days. After that they will be brought out from it.
Different numbers of days have been mentioned in their sayings. Some of them
say it seven days, some other say for forty days. It signifies towards the days
they did worship of the calf and some persons say that every evil doer will be
kept into the Fire equal to his age.
The children of Israel supposed themselves beloved and fondlings of God
Almighty. They used to discuss the favours and kindnesses of Him as certificate
which He bestowed upon them from time to time. For this purpose they had
invented many false sayings about it. Its proof was not available in their
Book. One out of those invented false sayings and false traditions was, “they
had faith that if the God Almighty gives them any punishment due to their sins
that will be only for a few days. They will not remain into the Hell for ever”.
God Almighty asks from the children of Israel through His last Messenger (peace and blessings be
upon Him), “Have you received a covenant from Allah” due to which He is
compelled to complete it? Either you have invented these false things
yourselves or you tell concerning Him that which you do not know. There is no
reply of it instead that their all claims like this are only self made. They
have no certificate of religion regarding these false speeches.

|
Lesson
‘Ahaatat bihii kha-tiii-‘atuhuu – (his sin surroundeth him) it aims that they adopted the path of evil
intentionally and then so rushed into the sins that there was no space remained
for the Faith. This condition is of the people of infidelity (those persons who
are unbelievers, disbelievers in the true religion and infidals).
‘Amilus-saalihaati – (they do good works) Good works are the necessary condition alongwith
Belief for achieving the goal of entering into Heaven and for succeeding in
this world. The good works are the works which a person acts in accord to the
commands of the God Almighty.
The children of Israel had invented a lot
of false fundamental articles of the religion and these faiths were being shifted
from previous race to the next, for instance, “they are beloved and fondlings
of God Almighty, they will not be punished on their sins and if they will be
punished, that punishment will be only for a few days, and that their ancestors
and forefathers will get them forgiven from the God Almighty”.
Behind the shade of these faiths those
people used not to commit a mistake from any unlawful act or contraband
character and they were involved in this false notion that it is not necessary
for them to follow till now the religion and to believe the teachings of the
Last Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon Him).
God Almighty has refuted their false
opinions in this verse, and commanded that dependence to be released is on two
things:
•
The person would have faith on the God, the Most High.
•
Do good works.
That is to say, dependence of rewards and
punishment is on having belief on the commands of God Almighty and acting upon
them.

Lesson
Miisaaq – (Covenant, promise, pledge, consent, agreement, negotiation, treaty) this
covenant of the children of Israel has been mentioned on many other parts in
the Holy Qur’aan, it has also been mentioned in the Holy Books Torah and
Gospel.
God Almighty tells the Children of Israel
in this verse, “It has become your habit to turn your faces away from the
commands of God, the Most High”. So they are being done attentive mentioning
their famous covenant.
This covenant was taken by the God
Almighty from the children of Israel that they would never do worship of any
other thing except Allah Almighty, be good to parents and to kindred and to
orphans and the needy, treat them politely and speak kindly to mankind; and
establish worship and pay the poor-due. But these people slid back after making
the covenant with God Almighty and could not complete it. There were only a few
persons who completed their covenant and cared for their promise.
Alongwith it the God Almighty commands,
“You slid back, being averse”. It means that they were the persons who used to
turn away from their covenants and promises habitually and did not remain on
it.
We should learn the lesson from this
speech and the covenant which we have done with Allah, the Most High, “The
Testimony, that there is none worthy of worship except ALLAH and Muhammad
(Peace and blessings be upon Him) is HIS Messenger”, we have to act upon the
commands of Holy Qur’aan and sayings of the Last Prophet Muhammad (peace and
blessings upon Him). We should pass our lives remaining in the circle of this
Testimony. We should remember always this faithful promise.

Shedding Blood And Exilement
Verse – 84 of 286, Section – 10 (Part - 1)

Lesson
Laa tasfikuuna dimaaa-‘akum – (Shed not the blood of your people) safak is matter of tasfikuuna that
means to shed, to cause, to flow, and particularly to shed the blood. As a
proverb this sentence aims ‘to kill’.
Talk of the Jews is chained with effect
from fifth section of this Surah. The children of Israel had gone astray from their real religion. They used to
change and make alteration in the Holy Book of God Almighty Torah, after
hearing the commands of Allah Almighty and promising to fulfill it they used to
slip from that covenant. They were involved in false and self-invented
fidelities. They had doubt that wishing they do how many evils and sins, they
would not be punished entirely, but their ancestors would get them saved from
the Fire of Hell.
Refuting the false faiths of the children
of Israel the God Almighty disclosed through the
Holy Qur’aan, “which is the universal law of salvation”. Only those persons are
entitled for the Paradise who believe on the Allah Almighty and do
good deeds. Without them the person who is surrounded in the evils, howsoever
he will enter into the Hell.
After talking about the law of salvation
the God Almighty commanded the method to be the righteous and good servants of
Him, and drew attention towards their covenant.
Allah Almighty made with them two more
covenants: (1) shed not the blood of their people.
(2) Not to turn (a party of) their people out of their
dwellings. Because doing so the collective dignity and fear of the nation will
go to end. The opponents will get opportunity to attack over them, get
possession over them and become their rulers.
Then they ratified (God Almighty’s
covenant) and they were witnesses (thereto).

‘ammaa ta’-maluun.
|
Lesson
Bil-‘ismi wal-‘udwaan – (by sin and transgression) ism means sin so aasim means sinner.
Literal meanings of ‘udwaan are rebellion, violence and transgression. In this
verse ‘udwaan is used for tyranny and oppression. From this sentence it is
known that as the children of Israel used to kill and shed the blood between them or exile their compatriots
and religion-fellows, which was not as per any principle but only due to sin
and transgression. Which nation behaves like this with their own people, what a
better behaviour that can do with others?
God Almighty warns the children of Israel in this verse, “We made with you a covenant (saying):
Shed not the blood of your people nor turn (a party of) your people out of your
dwellings.” But you oppose this covenant. You slay each other and drive out a
party of your people from their homes.
During the times of Last Messenger (peace
and blessings be upon Him) two tribes were populated out of the children of Israel ‘Banu Nazair’ and ‘Banu Quraizah’ in Madina and its
vicinity. They used to remain busy in civil war/domestic quarrels habitually.
Two tribes of the Infidels of Madina were also populated there. One of the
tribes out of Jews used to become friends out of the one tribe of Infidels and
the other of the other. Whenever the war used to start, slay and exile became
their routine.
It is known from the history that after
the Prophet Solomon (peace be upon Him) cruel contradiction grew between the
twelve tribes of the children of Israel. Many people were slain during
their wars. Resultantly their government was ruined. They became slaves of the
others and compelled to pass their disgrace, infamy and ignominy
lives.
Al-Kitaabu – (Holy Book) here it aims towards the Heavenly Book of the children of Israel named ‘Torah’. This argument is being established upon
them that besides following the commands of Holy Qur’aan they do not obey their
own Holy Book completely. They obey only those some orders in which they consider
their own benefit. Which commands claim for sacrifice they put them behind
themselves.
The Jews first of all used to exile their
colleagues after fighting with them. Whenever they used to become prisoners of
other nations, then the Jews set them free quickly paying compensation to show
their sincerity, still it is fact that it was unlawful for them to exile their
religious brothers. So it is found that they obey this order of Torah that the
prisoners to be set free, but they do not obey this order that they should not
be exiled.
Allah Almighty commands along with it,
“And what is the reward of those who do so save ignominy in the life of the
world, and on the Day of Resurrection they will be consigned to the most
grievous doom. And Allah is not Unaware of what ye do”.

BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Life Of This World At The Price Of The Hereafter
Verse – 86 of 286, Section – 10 (Part - 1)
Such are those who buy the life of the
world at the price of the Hereafter. So their punishment will not be
lightened, neither will they have support.
|
‘Ulaaa-‘ikallazii-nashtarawul-hayaatad-Dunyaa
bil-‘Aa-khirati falaa yukhaffafu ‘an-humul-‘azaabu wa laa hum yunsaruun.
|
Lesson
Bil-‘Aa-khirati – (at the price of the Hereafter) it appears from study of the religious
books of Jews that the Faith on Doomsday had not remained in their hearts. It
is fact that concept of God Almighty and the Doomsday is main Check and
prohibition from evil-doing and sinful life. If the human being has no thought
about second eternal life, rewards/remuneration on good deeds and punishment on
sins then there is no any method to resist him from sin and evil-doing.
Laa hum yunsaruun - (they will not be supported) its matter is nasara which means support,
help. Ansaar (the supporters) is also from this word and the word Mansur is
also from it that means victor and victorious. Meanings of the entire sentence
are, “they will not be supported by any one to lighten their punishment”.
The Jews had fallen in this false suspicion
that they wishing how much sins use to do, on the Day of Resurrection their
ancestors and pious persons will reach to help them and save them from agony of
the Fire. Now the God Almighty has cleared their false faith as wrong and
stopped, and commanded that they will not be supported from any side.
Summary of previous verses has been
narrated in this verse that the persons who disobeyed the orders of Allah, the
Most high, turned back from their covenant after binding it and sacrificed
their religion for their worldly benefits, followed the casual worldly relishes
and tastes leaving the rewards, favours and kindnesses of the Day of
Resurrection, they have bought casual comfort of this world leaving the welfare
of the Doomsday. There will be much difficult calamity for them on the Day of
Resurrection. Neither the wrath upon them will be forgiven nor will it be
lessen. Those persons should know that no body can set them free and neither
any body can help them. After death only the good deeds of each person will
support him.

Verse – 87a of 286, Section – 11 (Part - 1)

|
Lesson
Qaffaynaa – (We caused a train of messengers to follow) after the Prophet Moses
chain of Prophets (peace be upon Them) remained coming continuously between the
children of Israel. Out of Them famous Prophets are David,
Zachariah, John, Yusha’ and Jesus (peace be upon Them).
‘Iisaa – (Jesus) the Prophet Jesus Christ (peace be upon Him) is the last
Prophet out of the Prophets from the children of Israel (peace be upon Them). No Prophet came in this world
from the children of Israel after the Prophet Jesus Christ (peace be
upon Him). After Him Prophet-hood went towards the children of Ishmael. In this
dynasty the Last Prophet and Messenger Muhammad (grace, peace and blessings on
Him) was born and after Him (grace, peace and blessings on Him) neither any
prophet has come and nor will come. It means that the prophet-hood has finished
on Him (grace, peace and blessings on Him). The Prophet Jesus Christ conveyed
this good news particularly about gracing with the Last Messenger’s presence
(grace, peace and blessings on Him). The year belonging to Jesus starts from
the year of His death (peace be upon Him). Nasira is a town in the country of Syria which was His Ancestors’ native country. Due to this
relation the people say Him Jesus Christ Nasri (Masiih Nasri).
Maryama – (Mary) (God’s Blessings on Her) Her father’s name was Imran. She
belonged to a very noble family out of the children of Israel. She was also very modest. The Prophet Jesus Christ (peace be
upon Him) was born from Her womb without father.
‘Iisabna- Maryama – (Jesus son of Mary) it signifies that the Prophet Jesus Christ (peace
be upon Him) was also a mankind. May God forbid! He was not the son of God.
However He was a great Prophet and Messenger (peace be upon Him) of God
Almighty. Because He (peace be upon Him) was born without father so the
relation is given towards mother.
Al-Bayyi-naat - clear proofs (of Allah’s Sovereignty) there is no accommodation for
tricks or arguments to deny these clear proofs.
Ruu-hil-Qudus – (the Holy Spirit) aim of ruu-hil-qudus is the Angel Gabriel (peace be
upon Him). He used to bring the Messages of God Almighty towards the Prophets
and Messengers (peace be upon Them). He helped the Prophet Jesus (peace be upon
Them) in each difficult situation so He is being narrated particularly here in
this verse.

Sensuality and Murder Of Prophets
Verse – 87b of 286, Section – 11 (Part - 1)

Lesson
Allah Almighty has bestowed two powers to
the human beings:
•
Power of Belief (faith, religion, certainty and confidence).
•
Power of action (procedure compliance, operation and practice).
If these powers are right and straight
forward then the path of aim will become easy. In the previous verse the God
Almighty has mentioned those bad-nesses and defects of the children of Israel which belong to their power of action. They used to
slay each other themselves, exiled the weak persons. Now, in this verse
weaknesses of the power of their belief and faith have been disclosed.
The God Almighty commands, “We bestowed
the Book to Moses (peace be upon Him) for their guidance but when the children
of Israel began to change the Orders of this Book
and disobey them, then We sent many Prophets after Moses (peace be upon Them).
But these people disobeyed some of Them too and slew some of Them (peace be
upon Them). Then We sent Jesus Christ (peace be upon Him) with the Holy Book
Gospel and to prove His truth We bestowed many Miracles to Him, and detailed
the Angel Gabriel (peace be upon Him) for His help but the Jews did not shun
from their habits and prepared to slay Him (peace be upon Him)”.
Now Allah Almighty says, “your circumstances
are also strange, whenever any Messenger (peace be upon Him) brought the order
of God Almighty against your personal means and sensual wishes, you turned your
faces from it with proud, falsified some Prophets (peace be upon Them) and slew
some of Them.
The Prophet Jesus Christ (peace be upon
Him) was bestowed with many miracles by the Allah Almighty. For instance He
(peace be upon Him) was bestowed to do discerning the blinds, sound the lepers
and healthy the ailing, produced Him (peace be upon Him) without father and
powered to speak in the cradle etc. But even then the children of Israel did not believe Him (peace be upon Him) and continued
opposing and troublesome acts.
LESSON # 97 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Bigotry Of The Children Of Israel
Verse – 88 of 286, Section – 11 (Part - 1)
And they say: Our hearts are enfolded in
covers. Nay, but Allah hath cursed them for their unbelief. Little is that
which they believe.
|
Wa qaaluu quluubunaa gulf.
Bal-la-‘anahumullaahu bi-kufrihim fa-qaliilam-maa yu’-minuun.
|
Lesson
Gulfun – (enfolded in covers) aglaf is its singular. It means, “Covered thing”,
the thing which is enfolded in cover and hidden in the curtain. The Jews used
to claim that their hearts are enfolded in covers and filled with the teachings
of Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him). So they did not need to accept any new
teachings.
La-‘anahumullaahu – (Allah hath cursed them) La’-nat means distance from the Mercy, some
body’s deprival from God Almighty’s Grace and Mercy. It is also called the
curse as that person is ignored by all.
Qaliilan – (very little) it signifies that they used to disclose a dim attention
towards the belief off and on and only few persons out of them used to believe.
Majority was inclined towards dishonesties, faithless and violence.
When God Almighty fixed the self made
faiths of the Jews as False and the Speech of Allah Almighty proved them wrong
clearly then there was no trick or argument remained with the Jews. They began
to say that their hearts were enfolded in the covers and nothing could effect
on their hearts. They would never obey or become loyal on the instructions of
any body.
The Jews used to state their false proof
with much pride but the God Almighty proclaimed clearly that they are totally
liars. There is no any enfolded cover. But Allah Almighty has cursed them for
their chained unbelief and its covers have enfolded their hearts. They have
been removed from His Mercy and Kind. So they do not believe their true
religion. Out of them only a few persons have believed on the Last Messenger
Muhammad (grace, peace and blessings on Him).
It has been known from this verse that if
the human beings either deny from the verses of God Almighty or change them or
do transposition of words between them, or disobey continuously then Allah
Almighty curses them. The person like this can not attend towards the Religion
and Belief.

Verse – 89 of 286, Section – 11 (Part - 1)
And when there cometh unto them a

‘alal-laziina Kafaruu Falammaa jaaa-‘ahum-maa ‘arafuu kafaruu bihii
fala’-natullaahi ‘alal-kaafiriin.
|
Lesson
Kitaabum-min ‘indillaahi – (a Scripture from Allah) here Kitaab signifies towards the Holy
Qur’an, whose first address was also for the Jews besides the Infidels of
Makkah. Majority of these people was living in Madina.
Limaa ma-‘ahum – (that which is in their possession) its aim is Torah, the Heavenly
Book of the Jews. The Holy Qur’an has used to mention its virtue and proclaimed
that the Qur’an is True Book of Allah Almighty; it verifies other previous
Heavenly Books. Out of the previous Books the most famous book is Torah which
was revealed on the Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him).
Yastafti-huuna (were asking for a signal triumph) this word is derived from the word
Fatah. In Arabic language it means ‘wish of superiority’ and victory. In this
verse its both meanings can be taken. Before the manifestation of Last
Messenger Muhammad (grace, peace and blessings on Him), whenever the Jews
people were defeated by the natives of Madina, at that time they used to beg
from Allah Almighty for victory and help giving the sake of Last Messenger
(grace, peace and blessings on Him). This affair had been included in their
faith that the Last Prophet (grace, peace and blessings on Him) would come to
make them free. They would get freedom after believing on Him (grace, peace and
blessings on Him).
When a Book revealed by Allah Almighty for
the Jews in which verification of the principles of the Divine’s law of Prophet
Moses (peace be upon Him) was present then these persons disbelieved, and of
whom Last Prophet (grace, peace and blessings on Him) they were waiting for,
and for the sake of whom they used to pray for victory against the Infidels,
when He, Known Prophet (grace, peace and blessings on Him) came towards them;
they began to disbelieve Him (grace, peace and blessings on Him). Now those
disbelievers have been cursed by the God Almighty due to their infidelity. And
they became victim of wrath of the God Almighty.
It appears from this statement that the
Jews belong to a bigoted and jealous nation and this nation has been cursed
from the Mercy of God Almighty due to its bigotry and
infidelity.

Lesson
Allah Almighty commands in this verse that
the children of Israel are limitless selfish and sensual people.
They are also stubborn and jealous. They see every thing even that the orders
of God Almighty from the business and national point of view and think that
their benefit is either in following these orders or disobeying them. If they
suppose that they will acquire their personal wishes by changing these orders
or by violating them, they shall do that without hesitation.
Due to the result of bigotry and
sensuality jealousy grew into them very severely. Because they wanted to get
each type of favour and kind for themselves only as if it was their right by
birth. Without distinction of deeds the favours and mercy of God Almighty will
remain only for them.
When Prophet Muhammad (peace, grace and
blessings be upon Him) was sent as the Last Messenger of Allah Almighty, the
Jews felt a lot of restlessness. Fire of jealousy blazed into them that why the
prophet-hood has been transferred into the children of Ishmael instead of their
dynasty. Whereas they should know that the God Almighty gives His virtue him to
whom He wishes and bestows Prophet-hood and Mission to him. But the Jews refused to believe the Last
Messenger Muhammad (peace, grace and blessings upon Him) due to their opposite
and did not return towards the right path.
Due to the Jews’ chained infidelity and
denying they have incurred anger upon anger of God Almighty. And for
disbelievers is a shameful doom on the Day of Resurrection.

Lesson
As you have studied previously that when
the Last Prophet Muhammad (peace, glory and blessings on Him) invited the
children of Israel to accept Islam, they replied that their
hearts have already been filled with these orders of God Almighty which are
present in our Heavenly Book Torah so they have no need of any new teachings
and new revelation.
Allah Almighty has disclosed in this verse
that this claim of theirs’ is also false because they do not believe too even
their Heavenly Books entirely and do not follow their orders. It is its proof
that they have used to falsify their Prophets (peace be upon Them), moreover
they have slain some of Them. If they had faith completely on that Book and its
Commands they might not be so disobedient.
After providing this proof the God Almighty
warns them that they have gone astray entirely from the Straight Path and have
left the true religion so it is better for them to adopt the Religion Islam and
admit the Holy Qur’an. It is the Last Heavenly Book. This Book verifies their
Books itself and presents them in duly corrected shape. Without believing on
the Last Book of Allah Almighty their claim of believing on their own Books is
totally wrong.

Worship Of Calf
Verse – 92 & 93 of 286, Section – 11 (Part - 1)
92. And Moses came unto you with
clear proofs (of Allah’s Sovereignty), yet while he was away, ye chose the
calf (for worship) and ye were wrongdoers.
93. And when We made with you a
covenant and caused the (Mount) Toor to tower above you, (saying): Hold fast
that which We have given you, and hear (Our Word), they said: We hear and
disobey. And (worship of) the calf was made to sink into their hearts because
of their rejection (of the covenant). Say (unto them): Evil is that which
your belief enjoineth on you, if ye are believers.

Lesson
In the previous verse Allah Almighty
has proved the claim of Jews wrong that they were following entirely on the
Divine of Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) and now they do not need any new
Religion or Divine. God Almighty had commanded against it that they had
falsified their many Prophets and some of Them were even slain by them.
Now in this verse God Almighty commands
that He sent the Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) and bestowed Him also a lot
of miracles but knowing all this even then children of Israel began worship of
the calf. They left Oneness of God and overtook infidelity and ascribed
plurality to God Almighty.
Then the God Almighty made covenant from
them in the base of Mountain Toor on some Orders to be obeyed. At that time due
to fear of God Almighty they promised but later on they refused to admit it. So
at last Allah, the Most high says, “If your faith, of which you claim, teaches
you to slay the Prophets (peace be upon Them), worship the calf instead of God
Almighty and break the covenant then your this faith teaches you wrong-doings.
How can it be a true Belief?
LESSON # 102 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Long For Death
Verse – 94 of 286, Section – 11 (Part - 1)

Hereafter in the providence of Allah is indeed for you alone and not for
others of mankind (as ye pretend), then long for death (for ye must long for
death) if ye are truthful.

Lesson
God Almighty has refuted some other
fidelity of the children of Israel in this verse. You have studied earlier that the children of Israel had stood firm on their self invented and false
faiths. One out of them was that only they will go into Heaven after death and
they will be alone heir of the Paradise. Except them neither any nation
of the world will be forgiven and nor will enter the Paradise.
Allah Almighty has proved wrong this self
invented and false belief with very simple understanding argument. The children
of Israel have been told through the Last Messenger Muhammad (grace, peace and
blessings upon Him) that if they were true in their claim that they were alone
heir of the Heaven and they would enter the Paradise certainly then they should
show long for death, because the person who has faith that after death he will
certainly enter the Paradise, he would not have any fear for long of death.
There are a lot of difficulties and calamities in this world and in the Paradise there are each type of blessings and facilities. So
the person who claims as a heir of the Paradise, he should try to face that
world to leave for good this world as soon as possible so that he may get a
comfortable life for ever after getting rid of these calamities and difficulties.
This very reason has been produced for the
children of Israel that if they certainly believe about the Paradise as that is
only for them and except them no other nation will enter into it then they
should show to long for death (for they must long for death) if they are
truthful.

Greed For long life
Verse – 95 & 96 of 286, Section – 12 (Part - 1)
95. But they will never long

Allah is Aware of evildoers.
96. And thou wilt find
them greediest of mankind for life and (greedier) than the idolaters. (Each)
one of them would like to be allowed to live a thousand years. And to live (a
thousand years) would by no means remove him from the doom. And Allah is Seer
of what they do.

Lesson
In this verse Allah Almighty has explained
completely about reality of the children of Israel. It means that although they claim to be the only Heirs of the Paradise. Therefore they are being commanded to show the long for death.
But they will never be prepared to accept it. They don’t want to intend to
leave luxuries of this world entirely and to face the world hereafter. There is
only one reason for it that they haven’t faith on purity of their claim. They
just tell a lie. They know very well about the evildoings and immoralities
which they have done in this world, they shall have to face the punishment for
their sins. So they wish that they might get the life as long as possible, so
that they may enjoy luxuries of this world for maximum period and be saved from
agony of dooms day.
Every body out of them wants to remain in
this world for thousands of the years, so that he may get more worldly benefits
and be saved from agony. But God Almighty gives caution to them that wishing
they get more life, they can’t save themselves from agony of Allah Almighty
because He knows their each deed.

Enmity Of The Gabriel
Verse – 97 & 98 of 286, Section – 12 (Part - 1)
97. Say (O Muhammad, to mankind):
Who is an enemy to Gabriel! For he it is who hath revealed (this Scripture)
to thy heart by Allah’s leave, confirming that which was (revealed) before
it, and a guidance and glad-tidings to believers.

(Himself) is an enemy to the disbelievers.

Lesson
Jibriila – (Gabriel) it is the name of a great Angel. He has a very sensitive
responsibility as He conveys Revelation of the God Almighty to the Prophets and
Messengers (peace be upon Them). He is counted as out of the closely to God
Almighty and arch angel.
In this verse God Almighty has opened some
other secrets of the children of Israel’s false and meaningless argument.
The Jews used to say that which torture used to descend over their forefathers
from time to time, the news of that torture were revealed by Gabriel (peace be
upon Him). He was their national enemy. For whom out of Prophets and Messengers
(peace be upon Them) He will bring the revelation, they will not accept Him
(peace be upon Him). This Angel also brings revelation towards the Prophet of
Islam, the last Messenger Muhammad (glory, grace, peace and blessings be upon
Him), besides this He discloses their secrets, conspiracies and plans over the
Last Prophet Muhammad (glory, grace, peace and blessings be upon Him) so they
would not agree to accept Him (peace be upon Him).
Allah Almighty has replied in this verse
that position of the Gabriel (peace be upon Him) is only as an Angel who
conveys the messages of the God Almighty to the Prophets and Messengers (peace
be upon Them). In fact each type of command, order, agony, torture or Speech is
revealed from the Allah Almighty. The enmity of the Gabriel, some other Angels
and Messengers (peace be upon Them) is totally meaningless and the Infidels
will be punished severely due to their enmity with God Almighty
Allah Almighty has narrated three virtues
of Holy Qur’an in this verse:
•
It verifies the principles of previous Heavenly Books.
•
This Holy Book shows the straight path.
•
It causes to hear happy news for the Believers about good rewards and success.
LESSON # 105 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Breaking Of The Promise By The Jews
Verse – 99 & 100 of 286, Section – 12 (Part - 1)
99. And verily We have revealed
unto thee clear verses, and only miscreants will disbelieve in them.

100. ‘Awa- kullamaa ‘aahaduu
‘ahdan-nabazahuu fariiqum-minhum. Bal ‘aksaruhum laa yu’-minuun.
|
Lesson
‘Aayaatim- bayyinaat – (clear verses), ‘Aayaat means verses, literally it means ‘tokens’, ‘signs’.
The word ‘Aayaat is used for many purposes i.e. punctuations in the Holy
Qur’an, Orders, Instructions and Commands of God Almighty are also called
‘Aayaat, and all those speeches and things which are signs of the Power of God
Almighty, will be included in its meanings.
Bayyinaat – its singular is Bayyinah that means clear, bright. The meanings of all
this sentence may be the Holy Qur’an too as well as Miracles and Orders of the
God Almighty.
The children of Israel were materialists so the God Almighty bestowed their
Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon Them) with miracles outward and relating
to matter. Near to them proof of the truth of any Prophet (peace be upon Him)
was that He (peace be upon Him) would have the Miracles. When the Last Prophet
and Messenger Muhammad (glory, grace, peace and blessings be upon Him) were
sent, the children of Israel said surprisingly, “of what sort is this Prophet? He has no sign or
token of prophet-hood. Replying them Allah Almighty commanded, “You demand one
sign of Prophet-hood, We have bestowed many signs and tokens to Our Messenger
(glory, grace, peace and blessings be upon Him) and those signs & tokens
are neither hidden nor dim, moreover these are clear and bright verses which
may be seen by everyone. After looking them any person who has true nature can
not deny from them. Only those persons will disbelieve who has become habitual
of breaking the Laws of God Almighty and violating His Orders.
History of the children of Israel has been filled with the happenings of treachery,
breaking the covenants, disobeying and violence. Whenever any Messenger of
Allah Almighty brought towards them the Clear Verses, they falsified Him.
Moreover after making the covenant to obey the God Almighty and His Prophet
(glory, grace, peace and blessings be upon Him) they did not remain firm on it.
This habit of refusal and disobeying of the Jews stopped them to accept the
prophet-hood of the Last Messenger Muhammad (glory, grace, peace and blessings
be upon Him).

BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Opposing The Scripture Of Allah
Verse –101 of 286, Section – 12 (Part - 1)

|
Lesson
Rasuulun – (Messenger) the person carrying message. This word is used for all the
Prophets (peace be upon Them). It is revealed from the way of narration of this
verse that it signifies towards the last Messenger of Allah Almighty (glory,
grace, peace and blessings be upon Him). Religious commentators, research
scholars and philosophers have also taken these meanings of the verse.
Ma-‘ahum – (they possess) it aims the Holy Book Torah, of which guidance the
children of Israel did not admit. These persons did not
believe also the last Messenger and Prophet Muhammad (glory, grace, peace and
blessings be upon Him), still vast signs and foretelling had been mentioned in
that Holy Book (Torah). The Jewish Scholars tried their best to hide these
foretelling and the common Jewish people opposed limitless the Islam and the
Muslims still their salvation was connected with the faith of Islam.
Waraaa-‘a zuhuurihim – (behind their backs) it is a proverb that means, “they used carelessness
and opposed it practically”.
In this verse it is being told to the
children of Israel that the Last Messenger (glory, grace,
peace and blessings be upon Him) has not come to efface their religion but He
(glory, grace, peace and blessings be upon Him) has come to refresh and provide
it a new life. So not obeying Him (glory, grace, peace and blessings be upon
Him) is like ruining entirely their religion by themselves digging its roots.
Besides all these speeches the children of Israel began opposing Islam publicly and which glad tidings
about inspiration of the Last Messenger Muhammad (glory, grace, peace and
blessings be upon Him) had been mentioned in Torah, and which signs and tokens
were narrated, to hide them they changed the Torah and apparently became
strangers. As though they didn’t know that support and authentication regarding
the last Prophet (glory, grace, peace and blessings be upon Him) is present in
it.
LESSON # 107 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Acts Of The Black Magic
Verse –102a of 286, Section – 12 (Part - 1)
And they followed that which the devils
falsely related during the kingdom of Solomon. Solomon disbelieved not; but the devils
disbelieved, teaching mankind magic and that which was revealed to the two
angels in Babel, Harut and Marut.

|
Lesson
Ash-shayaa-tiinu – (plural of Satan) those demons are also meant from this word who were
subordinates of the Prophet Solomon (peace be upon Him) besides the devil, and
they were violent and of evil spirit. The demons have been produced from the
fire. They have wisdom and decency. This creature can not be seen by the human
beings.
Some commentators have indicated about the
ash-shayaa-tiin as persons of bad nature and addle mannered that used to take
part in the rebellion against the Prophet Solomon (peace be upon Him) and
accused Him falsely of various sorts. These devils were very at home in
magic.
Sulay-maan – (Solomon) He was a very famous Prophet (peace be upon Him) out of the
children of Israel, and He was a very powerful King of His era.
Besides Syria and Palestine limitations of His Government had been spread up to Iraq in the east and up to Egypt in the West. His kingdom was of a great splendor and
magnificent.
In this verse God Almighty has aimed
towards other intolerant act of the children of Israel that these people except admitting the true revelation
of Allah Almighty follow the magic, black magic and witchcraft. These magic and
witchcrafts are those acts which the devils had spread during the times of the
Prophet Solomon (peace be upon Him) these witchcrafts comprising on the infidel
speeches, were achieved unlawfully and were used for bad purposes.
These persons used to do the acts of magic
and infidelity themselves but betrothed towards the Prophet Solomon (peace be
upon Him). They blamed Him that He teaches the magic. But the God Almighty
proclaimed unaccountability of the Prophet Solomon through the Holy Qur’an, and
told that these were entirely liars.
Al-malakayni - (two Angels) God Almighty sent two Angels in Babel to prevent the people from using the magic and
witchcraft. Their names were Harut and Marut. These Angels had to live between
the human beings. So their faces, bodies, colors, habits and emotions were like
the human beings.
Baabil – (Babel) it is old name of Iraq Arabia. Name of the Capital of the
country was also Babel. This city was 60 Miles away from present city Baghdad towards south on the river bank of Frat. It was a big,
developed and most fortunate city. Its agricultural area was irrigated by two
famous rivers (Dajla and Frat). This country was also particularly famous due
to magic, black magic, witchcrafts and other infernal practices.
As-sihr – (magic) in Arabic language as-sihr is also used for deception. It
means that a thing with which the eyesight of the human being may be deceived.
In it reality differs from the evident. Between magic and Miracle there is a
great difference besides other things that in the miracle the condition is
changed but with the magic reality does not change. Only the eyesight is deceived.
The Jews used to learn and teach this knowledge for getting worldly bad
advantages.
According to the Islamic Laws the magic is
unlawful. Reason is clear that the Magicians use the sentences of infidelity,
adopt unlawful methods and bring the magic in use for good and bad acts. How a
Prophet and Angel (peace be upon Them) may do the works like
this?
LESSON # 108 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Badness Of The Black Magic
Verse –102b & 103 of 286, Section – 13 (Part - 1)
Nor did they (the two angels) teach it
to anyone till they had said: We are only a temptation, therefore disbelieve
not (in the guidance of Allah). And from these two (angels) people learn that
by which they cause division between man and his wife; but they injure
thereby no-one save by Allah’s leave. And they learn that which harmeth them
and profiteth them not. And surely they do know that he who trafficketh
therein will have no (happy) portion in the Hereafter; and surely evil is the
price for which they sell their souls, if they but knew.
103. And if they had believed and
kept away from evil, a recompense from Allah would certainly have been
better, if they had only known.

|
Lesson
Yu-‘all-imaani - (they both taught) this word is from Ta’-liim. It means to teach. But
here this word isn’t used in these meanings that the angels used to teach the
magic to people. Moreover the meanings of Ta’-liim are to inform, to show and
to tell here.
Fitna-tun-(disorder, badness, quarrel, test, examination,
temptation) Here it is used in the meanings of test & examination only.
Some quarrelsome persons of Babel used to come near the Angels and said, “you prevent us
from black magic and witchcraft but let we know about the magic. Which are the
acts of magic on using them is infidelity? After replying them when the angels
used to tell them about magic, its actions and words, then these evil-doers
listened carefully and used it as art.
Allah Almighty commands also about this
mischief that these people exercised the particular branch of magic with the
help of which they produced quarrel and misunderstanding between husband and
wife. Moreover it is the worst evil-doing creating misunderstanding between the
two hearts, and specially creating fight between husband and wife.
Advice of Harut and Marut was to be enough
that they used to tell themselves a test and prevent Jews from infidelity and
evil. But they didn’t learn the lesson. They didn’t listen to their advice but
used to act violently and evil-doing.
Although they used magic to harm others
but Allah Almighty says that without His order they cannot harm anyone.
Moreover they will harm themselves from it. They are going to mar their own
future by doing these evil acts. It is possible that they get some temporary
worldly benefits but at the end ((on the Doomsday they have no blessing.
Allah Almighty says that these people have
sacrificed the advantages of the Day of Resurrection in exchange of worldly
customary advantage. That is much harmful for them. If they would have adopted
the right path instead of this way, believed on Allah and had fear of His
agony, Allah would give them better reward surely.
LESSON # 109 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Misuse Of The Words
Verse –104 of 286, Section – 13 (Part - 1)
O ye who believe, say not (unto the
Prophet): “Listen to us” but say “Look upon us”, and be ye listeners. And for
disbelievers is a painful doom.
|
Yaaa-‘ayyu-hallaziina
‘aa-manuu laa taquuluu raa-‘inaa wa quulunzurnaa
was-ma-‘uu. Wa lil-Kaafiriina ‘azaabun ‘aliim.
|
Lesson
Raa-‘inaa – (Listen to us, show us favour)
Unzurnaa – (Look upon us) this word has also the same meanings, “Listen to us,
show us favour”. The children of Israel used to be present in the Conference of the Messenger of God Almighty
Muhammad (glory, grace, peace and blessings be upon Him), and listened to the
advice and preaching. Whenever they could not listen to any speech and wished
to ask again then they used to say raa-‘ina.
Listening from them the word raa-‘ina some
times the Muslims also began to use this word. The God Almighty prevented them
not to use this word. If they wish to say, they should use the word unzurnaa.
In fact the children of Israel used to say this word raa-‘ina due to ill-will and joke. They
intentionally used the word raa-‘ina as ra-‘iina, that means ‘our shepherd’ and
in the Jewish language the word raa-‘ina is also used for the fool, blockhead,
most foolish, stupid and idiot.
Allah Almighty prohibited the Muslims from
use of this word (raa-‘ina) and commanded to replace it as unzurnaa, that means
“Look upon us”. The aspect of joke or censure is not found in this word. Along
with use of this word it has also been ordered to ‘be ye listeners’
(was-ma-‘uu) so that you would not have to ask again for repetition.
It is also learnt from the command of
is-ma-‘uu that the sayings, advices and preaching of the Prophet of God
Almighty Muhammad (glory, grace, peace and blessings be upon Him) should be
listened with meditation. So the persons who consider that only the Holy Qur’an
is sufficient for guidance of the human beings, they should learn from this
decision of Holy Qur’an itself and imagine that how much it has been pressed to
listen and accept the Sayings, advice and preaching according to this verse and
many other verses. It has also been mentioned in an other verse that decision
of the Messenger of Allah (glory, grace, peace and blessings be upon Him) is
the last and final decision for you in each matter. (Surah An-Nissa). “O ye who
believe! Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger and those of you who are in
authority; then if ye have a dispute concerning any matter, refer it to Allah
and the Messenger if ye are (in truth) believers in Allah and the Last Day.
That is better and more seemly in the end”. (IV : 59)
At the end the God Almighty commands that
the persons who are prepared to do insolence of the Messenger Muhammad (glory,
grace, peace and blessings be upon Him) calling Him with bad words and making
fun of Him are the disbelievers and for disbelievers is a painful doom.

BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Religious Persecution Of The Infidels
Verse –105 of 286, Section – 13 (Part - 1)

people of the Scripture nor the idolaters love that there should be sent down
unto you any good thing from your Lord. And Allah chooseth for His mercy whom

|
Lesson
Allaziina kafaruu – (those who disbelieve, the Infidels) This word is derived from kafara.
Literal meanings of kafara are ‘to hide’. In the phrase of Islam disbeliever of
Allah Almighty and His Last Messenger Muhammad (glory, grace, peace and
blessings be upon Him) is called Infidel
‘Ahlil-kitaabi - (The people of the Scripture) this phrase has been used many times in
the Holy Qur’an. ‘Ahlil-kitaab is said to those people who have any revealed
and heavenly Book. It is an other class besides the Believers and the Infidels.
The most famous out of them are the children of Israel and Christians who have the Revealed Books (Torah and
Gospel). Alas! These both classes went astray gradually from the teachings of
these Books.
Al-Mushrikiina – (the idolaters) this word has come out from the word shirk which means
partnership. The idolater is the person, who settles partners either in the
Oneness of God Almighty or in His Virtues or in His Power and Commands. And he
makes His partner worshipped in spite of One God.
Allah Almighty has commanded in this verse
that all the Infidels, Idolaters and the people of the Scripture are filled with
envy on the matter that why the God Almighty bestows blessings and favours over
Muslims leaving them.
Then He said that He chooses for His
favours to whom He wishes. So no body should become jealous over any other.
From which nations the Prophet Hood had been snatched, that was not due to the
avarice of God Almighty (I seek refuge in ALLAH) but this favour was forfeited
from the children of Israel due to their own acts.
