Commentary

Mu-‘aqqiba – (the person who may postpone), it is the subject from the word ta’-qiib. This subject has already passed in this Chapter. Here it means “to postpone”.

In previous verses, there was description about planning and management by Allah Almighty. He sent His Messengers (peace be upon them) for the guidance of the mankind even before Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings an peace be upon him).

It is duty of every Messenger (peace be upon him) that He should obey every commandment of God Almighty which is revealed unto Him, and which commandments have been inspired for other people, those should be conveyed to them. Next, the matter is among the people and Allah Almighty only. He will reckon their deeds and decide that whether their deeds are in accordance with those commandments which He sent care of His Messenger (peace be upon him) or otherwise?

In this verse, it has been caused to understand the mankind clearly that which incidents have been occurring, last judgment is of Allah Almighty about them. If all requisites are provided for any occurrence, even then it’s happening or otherwise depends on the decision of Allah Almighty. Mankind’s decisions can be postponed, but the decisions of Allah Almighty cannot be postponed. He has fixed this law that deeds of every mankind shall be reckoned essentially, and for the last reckoning, He has determined the Day of Resurrection. It is His doom, for which, there is none, who may postpone it. If reward or punishment of any good or evil deed is delayed, one should not consider that his pursuit has been discarded. Delay is of the time. When it will come then, in a second, the reckoning will begin. When the Time (the Doomsday) will come, then Allah Almighty will not delay in reckoning.
