15. Whoso is wont to
think (through envy) that Allah will not give him (Muhammad) victory in the
world and the Hereafter (and is enraged at the thought of his victory), let
him stretch a rope up to the roof (of his dwelling), and let him hang
himself. Then let him see whether his strategy dispelleth that whereat he
rageth!

Commentary
Fal-yamdud – (Let him stretch), this is word of
command for the third person, derived from “madd”, which means “to
stretch”.
Sababa – (a rope), the aim from “to stretch a rope up to the sky” is “to
hope for betterment and promotion”.
Kayda – (strategy, trick), this word has passed earlier, it aims nearly
as the words “cheating, artifice, fraud etc.”
Maa yagiizu – (anger,
rage, passion).
If a mankind has some sense, a key to victory and success has been
given to him in this verse. By this key, he can open the locks of difficulties
easily. It was described in the beginning of this Section that some people worship
Allaah Almighty upon a narrow Marge, so that if prosperity, wealth and
property etc. befall them they are content therewith, but if a trial befalls them,
then they become hopeless from Allaah Almighty and fall away utterly.
It is commanded to such people: O ignorant mankind! Try to
understand it that you cannot gain your end if you become hopeless and are
disappointed. It is like “Should that person cut the rope in rage; who fastens
a durable rope to reach the roof, then he climbs in his first effort but does
not reach the roof with the help of rope?” Cutting the rope is a wrong act. If
the rope is not untied, then during his any further attempt, he will climb and
reach the roof. If the rope is cut then he would not be able to try again and
again, and his last support would be no more. Sometime, such foolish people come
to suicide due to being failure. If they had patience and tried again and
again, then they would have been succeeded at any time.
Disconnecting the relationship from Allaah Almighty after
connecting; is ignorance. Such person can do nothing but weeping and lamenting.
