Commentary

Muhaanan – (disdained, disgraced), this word is passive, past participle which has been derived from ‘ahaanatun. ‘Ahaanatun means “to abase, to insult, to contempt”.

It is commanded: The person, who does not refrain from above mentioned sins, does not believe in Allaah Almighty and His Law, the doom for such person will be doubled after death, on the Day of Resurrection, and he/she will abide in the Hell disdained for ever, because he/she committed great sins, that is to say, belief in a plurality of Allaah Almighty and infidelity, unjust murder and adultery etc.

The persons, who commit these sins, cannot be saved from torment, but when they will refrain from the sins, believe in Allaah Almighty and do good works, then they will deserve the Mercy of Allaah Almighty and their previous sins will be forgiven due to their Belief and good works. And by His kindness, their sins will be removed and Allaah Almighty will change their evil deeds to good deeds.

It has been warned in this verse that only one form of safety from the doom exists for mankind after death that he/she should believe in Allaah Almighty, escape from great evils according to the Sayings of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and do good works. If any sin is committed by any person erroneously, he should repent immediately.
