Warners were sent for guidance
Chapter “Saaaffaat” - (Those who set the Ranks) – 37
‘A-‘uu-zu Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah
from Satan the outcast)
Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ 71
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِم مُّنذِرِينَ 72
فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ 73
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ 74

71. And verily most of the
men of old went astray before them-
72. And verily We sent
among them warners.
73. Then see the nature
of the consequence for those who had been warned-
74. Save single-minded
slaves of Allah.

71. Wa laqad
zalla qablahum ‘aksarul-‘awwaliin.
72. Wa laqad
‘arsalNaa fiihim-munziriin.
73. Fanzur kayfa
kaana ‘Aaqibatul-munzariin.
74. ‘Illaa ‘ibaadAllaahil-mukhlasiin.

Commentary
Mankind is a slave to old customs and rites. Successors like to
adopt the customs and traditions established by their forefathers. They
consider that following the elders as a pattern is a cause of pride and honor
for themselves, whereas a large part of thought and intellect has been given to
the human beings. They should watch every matter carefully, choose and like
good things from them, but give up bad things. If they themselves cannot
distinguish between good and bad, then they should approach the Prophets (peace
be upon them) appointed by Allaah Almighty and obey their sayings. They
will guide them correctly. But the human beings do not understand such very
little matter in which there are a lot of advantages for them; and lay but to
stake upon the path of their forefathers.
It is commanded: Being entangled in the same misfortune, most of the former people went astray from the right
path. They chose the same path which was chosen by their forefathers and did
never think that which Path was better for them. Whereas Allaah Almighty
sent His Messengers (peace be upon them) who belonged to their own folks. But
the people did not listen to them and said: You are fool (God forbid) who
desire to introduce a new way; by deteriorating a good running way of life. Is
it sagacity?
Let us know their circumstances that what
happened with them and learn after observing their sufferings. They all were
ruined due to their stubbornness. Only such people remained safe from disasters;
who were lucky fortunately and who were from the chosen people.
