Surah ‘Ibraahiim (Abraham) - 14

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

11a.  Their messengers said unto them: We are but mortals like you, but Allah giveth grace unto whom He will of His slaves. And it is not ours to bring you a warrant unless by the permission of Allah.
11a.  Qaalat  lahum  rusulu-hum  ‘in-nahnu  ‘illaa  basharum-mis-lukum  wa  laakin-nAllaaha  ya-munnu  ‘alaa  many-yashaaa-‘u  min  ‘ibaadiH.  Wa  maa  kaana  lanaaa  ‘an-na’-tiya-kum-  bi-sul-taanin  ‘illaa  bi-‘izNillaah.

Commentary

The Messengers (peace be upon them ) answered to their question: It is right that we also are mortals like you, but it is not incumbent from this statement that we too are seekers of worldly wealth. Allah Almighty has created the human beings similar and resembling to one another in figure and form, but capabilities and skills of every one of them are different. He did not make us selfish and seekers of wealth and property of the world. It is His kindness and favor. Our imaginations are higher than the world. We do not see Him with covetous eyes. Concept of Allah’s Beauty and Glory keeps us careless from grief and ease of the world. It is kindness of Merciful God on us that He bestowed us knowledge about Himself. Assuredly, that person will never run unto the amusements of the world madly; who will know Allah Almighty. All disasters come upon the mankind because they fall in love with the world.

Moreover, which you demand any extraordinary portent of Messenger-hood to show; it is not in our power. We have come here to perform a particular duty for which Allah Almighty has appointed us. We have been commanded that we should show the human beings the Way of Allah Almighty. In this manner, He has made the entire universe; a portent for Acquaintance about Him.
