when the matter hath been decided: Lo! Allah promised you a promise of Truth,
and I promised you, then failed you. And I had no power over you save that I

Commentary
Qaalash-Shay-taanu – (Satan said), Satan will disclose this matter on the Day of
Resurrection when accounts of the entire mankind will have been reckoned. But
this discussion; mentioned here is in past tense, because it is sure that it
will be, as though; it has been.
The Day of
Resurrection will be very dreadful for human beings. On that Day, such matters,
which he used to consider nothing in the world, will look them clearly.
Suddenly the people will see Satan, the accursed. They all will say to Him: It
is your duty to save us Today (the Doomsday). Satan will answer them which has
been described in this verse. He will say: I am compelled to tell you clearly
today. In the world, Allah Almighty sent His Messengers and Prophets (peace be
upon them) and informed you about the Truth and His promised with you was true. I did
nothing save it only that by showing you glittering things, I said: Why do you
not incline towards these things? As soon as I caused to draw your attention
unto those deceptive things, you inclined unto them like flies, which in fact
were nothing but offal. I had no power to entangle you forcibly in evils. It is
surprising that being intelligent you followed me like mad and senseless.
