Quran Chapter 17  67b & 68 (Pt-15, Stg-4) (L-1827) درس قرآن

He can cause to engulf you

Surah Baniii ‘Israaa-‘iil (The Children of Israel) – 17

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

67b.  Then when He bringeth you safe to land, ye turn away. And man is ever thankless.

68.  Feel ye then secure that He will not cause a slope of the land to engulf you, or send a sand-storm upon you, and then ye will find that ye have no protector?
67b.  Falammaa  Naj-jaakum  ‘ilal-barri  ‘a’-raztum.  Wa  kaanal-‘insaanu  kafuuraa.

68.  ‘Afa-‘amintum  ‘any-Yakh-sifa  bikum  jaanibal-barri  ‘aw  yursila  ‘alaykum  haasiban-  summa  laa  tajiduu  lakum  wakiilaa.

Commentary

Yakh-sifa – (He will cause to engulf), origin of this word is khasafa, which means “to be absorbed in the land”. Yakh-sifa  bikum means “He will cause to engulf you”.

Haasiban – (wind which causes to rain pebbles and stones”. This word has been derived from hasab, which means
“pebbles, stones”.

Would that the mankind may judge the enmity of Satan and seek refuge in Allah Almighty to save himself from the Devil, but the condition of the mankind is astonishing that when stuck in the storm and believed that “now I shall live no more”, then he began to cry for God’s help. When Allah Almighty saved him from the disaster, caused to arrive at dry land safe and sound, and he got the sigh of satisfaction, then he forgot Allah Almighty. It is a great thanklessness. Accepted that there are many weaknesses in the human being and he forgets his those friends, at the time of ease, who helped him to set free from any great calamity at any time, but he should never forget Allah Almighty Who is the Greatest Protector as explained above, because the mankind is in His control and power every time and at every place. If He desire; He can cause a slope of the land to engulf the human being as a punishment of his thanklessness Or He can send any other disaster, for example, such sand-storm which may cause to rain pebbles and stones with as much pressure that he is beaten severely. Whether he tries to paw as a horse but cannot be saved. Whether he looks here and there, but cannot find any protector, and he feels that everywhere there is a stunning blow or shock only. The human being is unaware that how much great foe of him is Satan, because he shows apparently that he is best well-wisher and friend of the mankind. Would that the human beings had understood Satan and seek every time refuge in Allah Almighty from him.
