No good tidings for the guilty
Chapter “Furqaan”- {The Criterion (of Right and
Wrong)} - 25
‘A-‘uu-zu Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah
from Satan the outcast)
Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ لَا بُشْرَىٰ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُجْرِمِينَ وَيَقُولُونَ حِجْرًامَّحْجُورًا 22 وَقَدِمْنَآ إِلَىٰ مَا عَمِلُوا۟ مِنْ عَمَلٍ فَجَعَلْنَٰهُ هَبَآءً مَّنثُورًا 23 أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْجَنَّةِ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَيْرٌ مُّسْتَقَرًّا وَأَحْسَنُ مَقِيلًا 24
22. On the Day when
they behold the angels, on that Day there will be no good tidings for the
guilty; and they will say: A forbidding ban!
23. And We shall turn
unto the work they did and make it scattered motes.
24. Those who have
earned the Garden on that Day will be better in their home and happier in
their place of noonday rest.

22. Yawma yarawnal-malaaa-‘ikata laa
bushraa Yawma-‘izil-lil-mujrimiina wa
yaquuluuna hijram-mahjuuraa.
23. Wa qadimNaaa
‘ilaa maa ‘amiluu
min ‘amalin faja-‘al-Naahu habaaa-‘am-mansuuraa.
24. ‘As-haabul-Jannati Yawma-‘izin
khayrum-mustaqar-ranw-wa ‘ahsanu maqiilaa.

Commentary
Hijran – (ban, a prohibition order, a fence, a wall), this word has
passed in Suratul-‘An-‘aam).
Mahjuuran – (the thing; in front of which; any
protection is erected), it is for hyperbole here, that is to say, another fence
should be before the existing fence.
Habaaa-‘an – (motes, small particles of dust, which
glitter by sunshine. That is called “a dust-storm also).
Mansuuran – (scattered), this word is an adverb from
nashar, which means “to spread, to fritter away”.
Mustaqar – (home, residence), it is an adverb from
the word ‘istaqraar, which has come out from qaraar. Qaraar
means “consistency, settlement, halt”. ‘Istaqraar means “to settle at
any place”.
Maqiil – (place for rest), it is also an adverb from the word qiil.
Qailuulaa means “a midday nap (a short sleep during noon)”.
It is commanded: These people have lost their senses. When the
Angels (peace be upon them) will come before them, then guilty people will be
overtaken by misfortune. They will fear their frightful forms and call out “A double,
triple forbidding ban should be between us and them”. Their saying that Allaah
Himself should come unto them, so He will turn unto the work they did and make
it scattered motes.
Only those people, who will earn the Garden, will in all respect
be better in their homes on the Day of beholding the angels and Allaah
Almighty and happier in their place of noonday rest. But the wrongdoers will
not have any pleasure.
