Enjoying life in jungle

Surah Yuusuf (Joseph) - 12

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

11.  They said: O our father! Why do thou not trust us with regard to Joseph, whereas we are in fact his well-wishers?

12.  Send him with us tomorrow that he may enjoy himself and play, and lo! We shall take good care of him.
11.  Qaaluu  yaaa-‘abaa-naa  maa  laka  laa  ta’-mannaa  ‘alaa  Yuusufa  wa  ‘innaa  lahuu  lanaa-sihuun.

12.  ‘Ar-silhu  ma-‘anaa  gadany-yar-ta’  wa  yal-‘ab  wa  ‘innaa  lahuu  la-haa-fizuun.

Commentary

Laa  ta’-mannaa – (you do not trust us), actually this word is laa  ta’-man-naa. Laa  ta’-man has been derived from ‘amana, ‘amaanah has come out from the same also. ‘Amana means “being fearless due to having trust in someone”. Naa means “We”. Both words have been used together, so; two “n” have been amalgamated into each other and “n” was made mushaddad (doubled). Therefore, it became “laa  ta’-mannaa”. It aims “you do not consider us trustworthy. It is the reason that you do not send Joseph with us. You keep him every time before your face”.

Yar-ta’ – {he (may) enjoy}, this word is from rat-‘un, which means “to graze, to feed”. It aims “he may eat and drink without any restriction”.

Yal-‘ab - {he (may) play}, it is from la-‘ibun. La-‘ibun means “playing, leaping and jumping freely”. It aims “he may run, play and enjoy in jungle”.

After consultation, brothers of Joseph (peace be upon him) went unto their father. It seems that perhaps, they had requested many times earlier also like this. They said! Our father! You do not have any reliance upon us in connection with sending Joseph along with us in jungle. You know very well that we go for grazing the flock of entire sheep and goats, which exist at our home. During the whole day, we walk, stroll and draw fresh air of jungle in our breath. You keep Joseph every time before your face. You do not provide him any chance of walking, playing and enjoying. The children should let play and enjoy liberally and occasionally; if not daily. Why do you not trust us regarding Joseph (peace be upon him)? We are his well-wishers and true sincere, because he is our brother. Kindly, send him with us when we go to jungle for grazing the goats as usual.
