Many generations have been destroyed
Chapter TAA-HAA – Surah – 20)
‘A-‘uu-zu Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)
Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى مَنْ أَسْرَفَ وَلَمْ يُؤْمِنۢ بِـَٔايَٰتِ رَبِّهِۦ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ أَشَدُّ وَأَبْقَىٰٓ 127
أَفَلَمْ يَهْدِ لَهُمْ كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَاقَبْلَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْقُرُونِ يَمْشُونَ فِى مَسَٰكِنِهِمْ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَٰتٍ لِّأُو۟لِى ٱلنُّهَىٰ 128
|
127b. and verily the
doom of the Hereafter will be sterner and more lasting.
128a. Is it not a
guidance for them (to know) how many a generation We destroyed before them,
amid whose dwellings they walk?

127b. Wa la-‘azaa-bul-‘Aakhirati ‘ashaddu
wa ‘abqaa.
128a. ‘Afalam yahdi
lahum kam ‘ahlakNaa
qablahum-minal-quruuni
yamshuuna fii masaa-kinihim.

Commentary
It is commanded: Due to abiding by the Law of Allaah
Almighty in the world, there are some difficulties which the people have to
endure. The human beings do not remain free like animals and beasts. Some restrictions
rest upon them. They have to offer prayers at fixed times, to keep a fast, to
fight against themselves and those elements which prevent from doing works
according to the Commands of Allaah Almighty, to bear some severity of
hunger and thirst. More than all of above is that they have to control their
impure wishes, which are produced by misleading of Satan and which get ready
immediately to raise a riot of vulgarity. And they have to fight always against
evil desires with determination and constancy. But these entire difficulties,
which are endured in the Path of Allaah Almighty, are for a few days,
and their end is very well.
Due to endurance of the difficulties of this worldly life, which
is anyhow; of a few days; there will be rest and comfort after death, which
will be for the next everlasting life for ever. But if any person remained
careless in this life then the doom of the Hereafter will be very severe and
endless, and his life of this world will also be restless.
The living people should take a lesson from the circumstances of
ancient people. They used to live in the place where present people have been
dwelling. Allaah Almighty showed them result of their rebellion in the
world too. You should consider a warning from their circumstances.
