Enjoining worship upon the family
Chapter TAA-HAA – Surah – 20)
‘A-‘uu-zu Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)
Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

وَلَاتَمُدَّنَّ عَيْنَيْكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِهِۦٓ أَزْوَٰجًا مِّنْهُمْ زَهْرَةَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا لِنَفْتِنَهُمْ فِيهِ وَرِزْقُ رَبِّكَ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰ 131
وَأْمُرْ أَهْلَكَ بِٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَٱصْطَبِرْعَلَيْهَا لَا نَسْـَٔلُكَ رِزْقًا نَّحْنُ نَرْزُقُكَ وَٱلْعَٰقِبَةُ لِلتَّقْوَىٰ 132
|
131b. And the provision
of thy Lord is better and more lasting.
132a. And enjoin upon
thy family worship, and be constant therein.
|
131b. Wa rizqu
Rabbika khayrunw-wa ‘abqaa.
132a. Wa’-mur ‘ahlaka
bis-Salaati wastabir ‘alayhaa.
|
Commentary
It is commanded: Result of those works which Allaah
Almighty has commanded to do; is certainly very better than the result of
worldly works, and the provision given by Him is more advantageous and lasting
for you than that gain; which you earn by turning away from the commandments of
Allaah Almighty, because profit of the world is a perishable thing which
will not be useful after death.
It is better for the mankind that they should never disobey the
commandments of Allaah Almighty and they should spend as much time only
in the earnings of the world; which is spared from the prescribed works of Allaah
Almighty. Don’t worry if the works of the world have remained pending due to performing
Allaah’s prescribed works. But it is sign of misfortune if disorder has
occurred in the obedience of the commandment of Allaah Almighty due to
being involved in worldly matters.
Now listen to the Commandment of Allaah Almighty! He
says: Lay stress on the people to offer prayer. Its best way is that at first;
they should order to the members of their families for offering prayer, not
only verbally but practically they should themselves offer prayers regularly as
an example. Then members of their families will follow them and offer prayers
also at proper times. It will be more effectual than ordering them verbally.
And when other people will observe that members of your family have been
worshipping, they will also begin to offer prayer regularly. Result of obeying
the Command of Allaah Almighty and offering the prayer regularly will be
that He will bless your earnings of this world and make you rich with His favors
and honors in the Hereafter.
