Quran Chapter 27: 36 & 37 (Pt-19, Stg-5) (L-2380) درس قرآن

You exult in your gift

Chapter Naml”- (The Ant) - 27

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

36.  So when (the envoy) came unto Solomon, he said: What! Would ye help me with wealth? But that which Allah hath given me is better than that which He hath given you. Nay it is ye (and not I) who exult in your gift.

37.  Return unto them. We verily shall come unto them with hosts that they cannot resist, and we shall drive them out from thence with shame, and they will be abased.
36.  Falammaa  jaaa-‘a  Sulaymaana  qaala  ‘atumidduunani  bi-maal.  Famaaa  ‘aataani-yAllaahu  khayrum-mim-maaa  ‘aataakum.  Bal  ‘antum-  bihadiyyatikum  tafrahuun.

37.  ‘Irji’  ‘ilayhim  falana’-ti-yannahum-  bijunuudil-laa  qibala  lahum-  bihaa  wa  lanukhrijan-nahum-minhaaa  ‘azillatanw-wa  hum  saagiruun.

Commentary

‘Atumidduunani – (Would you help me?), actually this word is ‘atumidduunanii, but its last “i” has been dropped in writing and reading, which is “the first person singular”. This word has been derived from madad, which means “help”.

When messenger of the Queen (Bilqiis) reached Solomon (peace be upon him) along with precious gifts, he (peace be upon him) said: Do you wish to amuse me by giving wealth and these enticing things as agreeable gifts? You can be pleased by taking or giving gifts. I don’t care. Allaah Almighty has bestowed me abundant and much more useful things than you. Go back to your Country and say to your people that we will surely come to their Country with such soldiers and war equipment that they will be powerless to encounter. If they did not act upon the instructions mentioned in our first letter, then our Armies would surely expel them from their Country in humiliation, and they will be brought low.

The messenger of Bilqiis hid his head through shame, returned to his Country and put up statement of the circumstances before the Queen.
