Commentary
Laa taniyaa – (Be
not faint, lazy, weak in spirit, depressed), it is a negative tense from the
word wan-yun, which means “to delay, to be lazy”.
It is commanded: The time, for which purpose you were prepared, has
come. You and your brother {Moses and Aaron (peace be upon them)} both should
go unto Pharaoh along with those Tokens which I have granted to you. And commit
to your memory that secret of success, at the time of encounter, is hidden in
My Remembrance. You should not be lazy even a little in this matter. And as you
have been instructed, you should be quick for My worship and offering prayer
timely. And at the time of every calamity or necessity, you should make mention
of Mine and remember Me in your heart. Now go both of you unto Pharaoh. He has
armed to transgress and oppress. He is proud of his power and strength,
violence with him will not be suitable. Cause him to understand with mildness
and gentleness. It is difficult to control the arrogant and haughty people harshly.
However by speaking with gentleness and by causing to know him politely, perhaps
he may heed and the fear of Allaah Almighty may arise in his heart.
