people! Is my family more to be honoured by you than Allah? And ye put Him
behind you, neglected! Lo! my Lord surroundeth what ye do.

Commentary
‘Itta-khaz-tumuuHu – (you put Him),
the word ‘itta-khaz-tum is past tense from ‘ittakhaaz, which has
been derived from ‘akh-zun. ‘Akh-zun means “exaction, seizing,
intercepting, cavil, capture, assume, infer etc. ‘Itta-khaaz means “to
put, to set, to execute”.
Zih-riyyaa – (thrown behind), zahara
means “the back”.
Prophet Shu-‘eyb (peace be upon him) says to
his people as a reply of argument mentioned in the previous lesson: you are
going to let me live only for the reason that you think about my family and
relatives, otherwise; you would have slain me. Behold! Allah Almighty is more
Powerful than my relatives and family. You should give me respect because I am
His Messenger. But you think of the people who are His creature, and do not
think of their Creator, whereas; if the human beings are displeased, they can
never harm you.
If they fought against you, you will seize them
easily. But if Allah Almighty has been displeased from you, He can finish you
in between the time of twinkling of an eye. You are unable to hurt Him.
It is sign of your ill-luck that you are careful
from the human beings but so much negligence from the Lord, the Most High, as
though; you have put Him behind; considering dishonoured. Remember! Allah
Almighty keeps every thing under His control. If He wished to punish you, you
would be destroyed without any delay.
