Quran Chapter 18  17 (Pt-15, Stg-4) (L-1866) درس قرآن

Young men were in the cleft thereof

Chapter Kahf (The Cave) – 18

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

17.  And thou mightest have seen the sun when it rose move away from their Cave to the right, and when it set go past them on the left, and they were in the cleft thereof. This (rising and setting of the sun) is (one) of the Portents of Allah. He whom Allah guideth, he indeed is led aright, and he whom He sendeth astray, for him thou will not find a guiding friend.
17.  Wa  tarash-shamsa  ‘izaa  tala-‘at-tazaawaru  ‘an  Kahfihim  zaatal-yamiini  wa  ‘izaa  gara-bat-  taqri-zuhum  zaatash-shimaali  wa  hum  fii  fajwatim-minh.  Zaalika  min  ‘AayaaTillaah.  Many-yah-Dillaahu  fa-huwal-muhtad.  Wa  many-yuz-lil  falan-  tajida  lahuu  waliy-yam-murshidaa.

Commentary

Tazaawaru – (moves away), origin of this word is tazaawurun, which has been derived from zawr. Zawr means “a turn, inclination and the state of being bent downwards). Tazaawarun means “to move away unto a side”.

Taqrizu – (to go past, to leave the high road), origin of this word is qa-ra-za, which means “to cut”. It aims that the sun leaves that route and passes away from them”.

Fajwatun – (the cleft, open and expanded place), origin of this word is fa-ja-wa, which means “expansion”.

It is commanded: Heat of the sun does not disturb them and the fresh air reaches them continuously, because they are in the open space of the Cave. It is a Portent from the Portents of God Almighty, by observing and hearing about which; wise people know Allah Almighty and learn the lesson of patience and tolerance in His obedience.

The problem is that the Portents of Allah Almighty are not visible to every human being. They can understand if He cause to understand, save them; the sense of whom has been covered with lust, sensuality and ambition. Therefore, no guiding friend can guide such people unto the Right Path to whom Allah Almighty sends astray.
