Explanation of the state of the Paradise

Chapter Kahf (The Cave) – 18

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

30.  Lo! As for those who believed and did good works – lo! We suffer not the reward of one whose work is goodly to be lost.

31.  As for such, theirs will be Gardens of Eden, wherein rivers flow beneath them; therein they will be given armlets of gold and will wear green robes of finest silk and heavy brocade reclining upon throne therein. Best the reward, and fair the resting-place.
30.  ‘Innallaziina  ‘aamanuu  wa  ‘amilus-saalihaati  ‘innaa  laa  nuzii-‘u  ‘ajra  man  ‘ahsana  ‘amalaa.

31.  ‘Ulaaa-‘ika  lahum  Jannaatu  ‘Adnin  tajrii  min  tahti-himul-‘anhaaru  yuhallawna  fiihaa  min  ‘asaawira  min  zahabinw-wa  yalbasuuna  siyaaban  khuz-ram-min  sundusinw-wa  ‘istab-raqim-  muttaki-‘iina  fiihaa  ‘alal-‘araaa-‘ik.  Ni’-mas-waab.  Wa  hasunat  murtafaqaa.
(Section 4)

Commentary

‘Adnin means “place for residing”. It aims: that place will not be any inn or temporary rental gardens, but will be of own for always.

‘Asaawira – (armlets), this word is plural of siwaar, which means “an armlet”, that is to say, ornament of forearm.

Khuz-run – (green), it is plural of khizar.

Sundusun – (robe of finest silk),

‘Istab-raq – (heavy brocade, silky and thick cloth of gold and silver),

‘Araaa-‘ika – (throne decorated with curtains and a large cushion), this word is plural of ‘ariikah, which means “a bedstead with curtains, pillows and soft quilted bedding”.

“Gardens, rivers, fine robes, ornaments and beauty”, these are the things for merriment, enjoyment, happiness in the world and the person who possesses these things; is considered “fortunate”. From the same, a picture of the Paradise has been drawn, so that one may imagine about it, otherwise there is no word in any dictionary to explain concerning the actual state. Only it can be said “That is the best reward of belief and good works, and the best place for dwellers of the Paradise”.
