Wringing hands due to loss

Chapter Kahf (The Cave) – 18

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

42.  And his fruit was beset (with destruction). Then began he to wring his hands for all that he had spent upon it, when (now) it was all ruined on its trellises, and to say: Would that I had ascribed no partner to my Lord!

43.  And he had no troop (of men) to help him as against Allah, nor could he avenge himself.

44.  This goes to prove that all authority is of Allah, the True. He is Best for reward, and Best for consequence.
42.  Wa  ‘uhiita  bi-samarihii  fa-‘asbaha  yuqallibu  kaffayhi  ‘alaa  maaa  ‘anfaqa  fiihaa  wa  hiya  khaawiyatun  ‘alaa  ‘uruushi-haa  wa  yaquulu  yaa-laytanii  lam  ‘ushrik  bi-Rabbiii  ‘aha-daa.

43.  Wa  lam  takul-lahuu  fi-‘a-tuny-yansuruunahuu  min  duu-Nillaahi  wa  maa  kaana  muntasiraa.

44.  Hunaalikal-walaayatu  Lillaahil-Haqq.  Huwa  khayrun  sawaabanw-wa Khayrun  ‘Uqbaa.

Commentary

Fi-‘a-tun – (troop, it aims “a group of supporters and protecting friends).

The mankind has been suffering from misunderstanding strictly. If someone can help him in difficulties and misfortunes, that is only Allah Almighty. The entire fruit trees, husbandry and agriculture of that Disbeliever had been burnt and become black. At night, he would have slept building castles in the air. But when he ceased sleeping in the morning, neither there were his gardens and nor crops. High creeping plants of the grapes had been lying on the ground and the walls had fallen upon them. Then he began to wring his hands and say: Alas! I had spent on it enough money. All has lost.

Then he thought: “It is the exchange that I was thankless to Allah Almighty. Would that I had believed that only He is my Lord and I had ascribed no partner to Him”. Then he had neither any friend and nor helper. His people in general, members of his family and folk could not help him in any matter and nor he was able to do something himself. In truth, to whom Allah Almighty has ignored, who can help him? There is none who may give best reward or full remuneration of work save Allah Almighty. At the time of misfortunes, only He is True Worshipped and Protector from calamities. Entire other false gods are helpless.
