Once, Messenger Moses (peace be upon
him) was going to explain many useful matters before his folk and the wise
people were rejoicing on his sagacity and prudence. Meantime, one man asked
being surprised: O Prophet (peace be upon him)! Have you ever seen any greater
scholar than you on the entire earth? It came out from his mouth without thinking
- No. And it was the truth. But since that, it is not befitting for any person to
give this answer about oneself; of the question of such kind. Therefore, it was
revealed unto him from Allah Almighty: There is a narrow dry point between the
two rivers. A slave of Ours will meet you there, who knows some such matters which
you don’t know. Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) understood that indeed it was
his omission. It was required by him to say as a reply: Knower of everything is
Allah Almighty. He bestows knowledge to whom He desires, of the thing which He
desires and as much He desires. He (peace be upon him) requested: The sign of
that place may kindly be described to me. I wish to see Your that slave, so
that I may learn from him those matters which I don’t know.
Then it was commanded: March up unto the
point where the two rivers meet. A fish should be included also in your baggage.
In the way, when you reach such place where the fish is lost from your baggage,
there; you will meet Our that slave; to whom you are desirous to meet. In the
above mentioned verse, the same incident has been narrated.
Prophet Moses (peace be upon him)
marched up along with his young companion (named Yusha’) and said to
him: Keep the fish on the watch. I am going on journey taking you along with myself,
and I shall continue walking until I reach the point where two rivers meet, though
I march on for ages. After this conversation, they began to walk by the side of
the Sea and both of them kept the fish on the watch. On the go, they reached
the point where two seas were situated opposite to each other. They stayed at a
place for taking some rest and both of them went to sleep. They had been
careless from the fish. In the same condition, the fish was alive by the
Command of Allah Almighty. It began to slide, made its way into the water of
the sea and went away. Then Yusha’ roused from sleep. He saw a long line
going into the sea water and surprised.
After that when Moses (peace be upon
him) stood up, they both moved forward quickly and forgot about the fish. At last
they crossed the desired place (the point where the two seas met) and any of
them did not think about the fish so far. Actual place of their staying and
meeting with that blessed person was the same where Yusha’ had seen a
long line made by fish; going into the water and which they had left behind.
