The night does never overtake the day

Chapter “YAA-SIIIN” - (YASIN) – 36

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

39.  And for the moon We have appointed mansions till she return like an old shriveled palm-leaf.

40.  It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor doth the night outstrip the day. And all float their own in orbits.
39.  Wal-Qamara  qaddarNaahu  manaazila  hattaa  ‘aada  kal-‘urjuunil-qadiim.

40.  Lash-Shamsu  yambagii  lahaaa  ‘an-  tudrikal-Qamara  wa  lal-Laylu  saabiqun-Nahaar.  Wa  kullun-  fii  falakiny-yasbahuun.

Commentary

Previously; it was commanded: The day and the night come behind each other regularly. Because their coming and going behind each other depends on the sun, so the attention was drawn towards the sun. Then it was commanded: The sun also runs on unto its appointed resting-place like other planets and its stages too have been determined, where certainly it reaches.

In this verse, the attention has been drawn towards the moon that it has its own separate speed and its phases have been determined; from which it passes every month. When it rises in the beginning of the month, it is seen in the evening like the old date stalk with less light. Then it; along with its light begins to increase. During the middle of the month, it appears full with full light. After that, it begins to decrease again and at the end of the month, it becomes like an old shrunk palm-leaf. In short, it completes its monthly circulation and passes through twenty eight prescribed mansions. Neither the sun can catch the moon and include some part of its time with own time, and nor the day can appear before it that the appointed time of the night is not yet over. That measure of the day and the night does never change which has been fixed in terms of occasion and time. Every planet has been moving in own orbit according to determined and settled order without getting out of its way. Do you not deem that Who determined such magnificent system with such accuracy and control? It is apparent that the entire system has been established by Allaah Almighty.
