Commentary
It is commanded: When Moses (peace be upon him) was born, We
inspired in the heart of his mother, “Suckle and nourish him until anybody
knows concerning his birth. When you fear that the people have known concerning
his birth, and he will now be killed, then you should put him in a box and cast
him into the river without having any fear or dread. Indeed, We will return him to you and then We will admit him in the
lineage of Our Messengers (peace be upon them).
Therefore, mother of Moses (peace
be upon him) did as she was inspired. She got a box prepared; in which the
water might not enter, and continued nourishing his son. When she was sure of
danger, caused to lie down his son {Moses (peace
be upon him)} in the box with comfort and cast it into the River Nile. The box
began to flow floating on the surface of water and reached beneath the palace
of Pharaoh at such place where wife of Pharaoh named Asia (May Allah be pleased
with her) saw and picked up the box. Moses (peace
be upon him) was recovered from the box in safe and sound condition. Nobody did
know that he was the child, due to fear of whom, Pharaoh caused to kill
thousands of innocent boys. Like this, Pharaoh brought up that child who would become to them an enemy in future and a cause of grief.
Indeed, Pharaoh, Haamaan and their soldiers were deliberate sinners in
this matter.
