Enjoyment of life is for a little

Chapter ’Al-‘Ahzaab” - (The Clans) - 33

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

16.  Say: Flight will not avail you if ye flee from death or killing, and then ye will be made to enjoy yourselves but a little while.

17.  Say: Who is he who can preserve you from Allah if He intendeth harm for you, or intendeth Mercy for you? And they will not find that they have any friend or helper other than Allah.
16.  Qul-lany-yanfa-‘akumul-firaaru  ‘in  farartum-minal-mawti  ‘awil-qatli  wa  ‘izal-laa  tumatta-‘uuna  ‘illaa  qaliilaa.

17.  Qul  man  zallazii  ya’-simukum-minAllaahi  ’in  ‘araada  bikum  Suuu-‘an  ‘aw  ‘araada  bikum  Rahmah.  Wa  laa  yajiduuna  lahum-min  duuNillaahi  waliyyanw-wa  laa  nasiiraa.

Commentary

It is commanded: Islamic behavior is not that which they have been adopting. Cause to understand them well that running away from the battlefield due to fear of death or killing is useless. There is no any such place in the world where the mankind may be saved from death. If the time has come then you will die whether you are anywhere. Like this, shirking one’s duty due to fear of being killed is unavailing. It is not necessary that every individual is killed in the battlefield, and suppose; if someone saved himself by leaving the battlefield then how many days will he live? If he did not die in the battlefield, even then he would have to die after some days. The death cannot be put off.

After that, say to them clearly: Everything is in the Power of Allaah Almighty and He does as He desires. If He has commanded that the ill should reach you, then it certainly will reach you. And if He has intended that you should be in comfort and pleasure, then surely He will arrange for it. After His decision, neither there is someone else who may protect you from harm and nor any other can prevent from His Mercy. They would have to admit that neither they have any companion save Him, nor any supporter or helper.
